Congrats to Mike on the new job!

Rhonda: Hang in there, we are all here for you! (F)

Evidently Kingston received Marlon's DS-230 but they are waiting for the package from the NVC. Should have that interview date soon, I hope!

You ladies crack me up! I am debating on getting cable or satellite when Marlon gets here but after reading some of the horror stories here I dunno! lol I do know that Marlon is big time into horror and action films and I too have fallen asleep during them! I am more of the romantic comedy/comedy/sci-fi type.

Rhonda: I am so sorry to hear that Tony is soooo pigheaded! You WILL talk him out of it and ALL will work out! Hang in there as you are a strong and smart woman!

I was wondering the same thing but I chose Satellite dish instead. I had Comcast at my last apt but the bill was getting out of hand. Now we have Satellite for 4 tv w/DVR's and my bill is only $65 a month w/two premium channels. Not only that it has way more channels.

That's an idea I will have to check into, thanks!

Sarah: You better get Marlon some cable. Sometimes I think that was the only thing that saved Andre from screaming boredom while waiting to be able to get a job.

I know, and I will. The cool thing is I have a roommate now who is willing to show Marlon around when I am at work! We were just talking about cable the other day and we are certainly planning on it!

Hey guys, I am new to the site, discovered it while surfing the net researching ways to get my new found love to join me here in the US without waiting forever. I am obsessed with this site. I log on every day reading all the interesting pointers and the various journies/experiences that you all have been through. My eyes have been opened so greatly. I am amazed at the process and trying to understand the language and different steps to achieving this goal. After having lived here for over 20 years and not thinking I would need immigration at some point, I am clueless as to the proper way/steps to follow. I have no doubt that you guys will be there for me when I officially start the process.

BIG UP

Welcome Clairern!! All the best with your visa journey!

So I got my bank verification letter today. All it has is the date my account was opened and the current amount! I'm pissed because the lady I spoke with from the bank assured me that it would include the total amount of deposits for the last year. I paid $10.00 for that piece of ####### that ain't gonna help me! So, did anyone print out ALL of their bank statements for the 12 month period for the interview??? :help:

No only 3 and my bank is on the internet. They didn't even look at bank statements.

Thanks for the encouragement you guys/gals

Not a problem! We are all (or have) going through the process!

We have been planning for one ever since the wedding. It just hasn't happened yet.

It's kinda hard when you're in 2 different countries  Don't worry, now that he's here, baby soon come!

I think we are waiting a few months now. No kids until Dwain finshes his first year of college he says. I think it cause he wants that blue PT cruiser we saw at the dealer. He told me he would get a job to pay the car payment. We will see if the car is still there once he gets his license. Thinking about having a kid now next summer when I am finished with school so planning for May, June or July  . Hope it works.

I called the IRS today and still no ITIN number. They couldn't even find his paper that I sent in April. They apologized but said they have an overload of applications ugh. I really want our tax refund it would help get the car :(

Rhonda have a wonderful night!!

Michele how are things going?

I am right there with you on the kid planning stage!

Yep I understand LOL. Just make sure you have an organized folder and it will go smoothly. Everyone was ewwing and ahhing over my organization. Just send Marlon an organized folder and things will go smoothly. I wonder why I even worried in the first place. All the best.

Can you suggest what type of folder that is not too heavy and can be sent at a lower cost?

What is the current address for the US embassy in Kingston? The address in my letter from the State Department is different from the address on their web site.

Isn't this the new address?

U.S. Embassy Kingston, Jamaica,
Consular Services
142 Old Hope Road,
Kingston 6,
Jamaica,
W.I.

The letter states that the case will be processed at:
Kingston
Embassy of the United States
Jamaica Mutual Life Center, 2 Oxford Road 3rd Fl
Kingston 5,
Jamaica

Is this the address to sent in the DS-230?

I am not sure then. Perhaps a member who recently did the interview could clarify?

i would be calling them right back and telling them that they didn't do what they said they'd do. i've saved all my bank statements from the past year and included them with the i-134 even though i have a bank letter. i just wanted to be as thorough as possible.

now here's what has me confused....i don't remember reading that the bio page from the passport was necessary to go with the ds-230. which page is the bio page?

The first page with the photo and information on it. It was just an idea really, not a requirement. As far as the bank statements go, I will be printing out ALL of the statements since May 2006. I need to call back and speak to a banker and have them either correct their mistake or gimme my money back!

futuremrs, you might want to hold off on the courier service. i just used the number that jengles provided. i got an appointment for my fiance to drop off the ds-230 next week. she told me not to use the courier service and i was really surprised that we got an appointment so quick. she said that he'll probably end up with an august interview date. i'm praying that it'll be within the first 2 weeks so that i can still go with him.

here's what we're going to do:
1. fiance goes to embassy next week to drop off ds-230 and pick up packet (it contains the medical info too)
2. i will start calling in about a week to see if an interview date is set
3. fiance will go back to the embassy to pick up the interview letter (since we don't want to wait on the mail and we must have the letter in order to get into the embassy for the actual interview)

Doh! lol I just called Marlon and he sent the DS-230 part 1, the bio page of his passport, and a copy of our NOA2 via UPS 30 minutes ago! I did tell him to call the embassy to see if he could pick up packet 3 but I figure it will be mailed to him anyway. If there won't be an interview until August then there is no real rush! lol I am sending him some money soon for the No Impediment to Marriage form and for his medical.

How did you know that it has left the NVC? I got a letter saying that in about a week it would be sent to Kingston. That was on June 1st. Are you using the courier to send in packet 3?

I called and talked to somebody. Marlon is using the courier to send in his packet 3 info.

Just curious, what does breast-feeding have to do with never being sick?? I never breast fed my son and knock on wood, the last time he was actually sick was about 4 yrs ago. He never ever gets sick, has white straight teeth (takes after my side of the family). He had his adenoids/tonsils out when he was 5 but other than that??

I've been doing some research on this myself for obvious reasons

Breastfeeding protects your baby from gastrointestinal trouble, respiratory problems, and ear infections
• Breastfeeding can protect your baby from developing allergies.
• Breastfeeding may boost your child's intelligence
• Breastfeeding may protect against obesity later in life
• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from childhood leukemia
• Breastfeeding may protect your baby from developing type 1 diabetes
• Breastfeeding may protect preemies from infections and high blood pressure later in life
• Breastfeeding may lower your baby's risk of SIDS

I pumped with my son and stopped at 6 months then he promptly developed ezcema due to being alergic to oatmeal cereal. both his fathe and myself have asthma and he's never had an astham attack. Wtih this child I sill also pump but will try and do it for a year.

When I told my husband I was going to breastfeed he didn't even give me a chance to explain. He went through the roof. I had to explain pumping to him and let him know pumping will give him a chance to feed her also. Now he likes the idea.

Wow! I totally want kids but thinking about breastfeeding and pumping blows my mind!!! I'll be sure to get some advice from you ladies when the time comes. I don't want kids until Marlon is working and we are more financially settled.

Here's a question for the moms: were your children planned or miracle surprises after the K1/K3/CR1 visa process?

Marlon called me today. He was using his sister's phone in Kingston, one of the phones everyone has been talking about. Only bummer is it doesn't work in Clarendon! Anyhow, he got my package today and we went over what he needs to do with the DS-230 part 1. He will be sending it via courier tomorrow. Now I need to gather all my documents and send them his way. The only thing I am missing is the job letter from Blockbuster, they are being stupid and say that can't give me what I need! They have a stupid website where someone has to pay $15.00 to verify my income. So what I will do is attach a copy of my W2's for last year to a letter I write explaining the difficulty in obtaining employment verification.

Just an update.
I sent money to Marlon via WU and he got it okay. He sat at the doctor's office all day but found out it was just a gum infection and was prescribed some antibiotics and pain killers. I guess the infection was also causing him to have headaches. I am relieved to know that it wasn't something serious.

Now this leads me to ask how USC's got dental insurance for their SO's here in the States? Currently I work as a temporary (been here for 6 1/2 years), no benefits. As soon as I complete my Stats class next month I will officially have my degrees in August and then I can search for a better paying job.

The DS-230 has yellow high light on some of the fill-in lines. Does it matter to the embassy if this form is printed without the yellow showing or should I print the form out in color?

I don't think it really matters, I printed all of my forms in black & white.

Just call them, I did and they sent me a status letter, even though they told me over the phone it was sent

I just got off the phone with NVC. The lady told me that my packet was received yesterday. She told me that they would mail out a letter when the packet is sent on to Kingston. She also told me that it would be two to four weeks before it would be sent out to Kingston. Should I expect to wait a couple of weeks before my packet leaves the NVC?

Wow, that was quick! I just called the NVC and mine is not there yet  From what I have heard here on VJ, your packet should not stay at the NVC for more than a couple of days unless you get caught up in administrative review. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Sorry to hear about the WU horrors! Marlon wants me to send via WU so I guess I will take my chances!

I have a question for my yardie family. Marlon is in need of some money, he did not ask I offered. He has been having some pain in his jaw and he had been waiting for a mate of his to send him some money to go to the doctor but that fell through. He found out it would cost $3000.00JA for a doctor visit plus price of medication. I will be wiring him $50US tonight via Western Union. Or is there another route to go?

I won't be attending Marlon's interview, I wish I could but I can't afford any time off of work. I will just send him a copy of the NOA2 then!

Jengles: Please do let us know! I am on pins & needles waiting for Marlon to receive my package. I sent him the DS-230 (both parts), the I-134, and some additional information regarding the embassy and all he has to do. I will have to re-send the DS-156, 156K, and 157 forms again as I did not realize a couple of them must be in duplicate. I am hoping that I will mail ALL that he needs this Friday that way the ball is in his court! Now we can hope that his UK police certificate gets there before his interview!

BTW, I emailed the embassy asking them if it is quicker to send the DS-230 via courier or to schedule an appointment for him to drop it off. I will let you know what their reply is.

Jomo was lucky then because they have completely restructured the K1 process in Kingston! I am hoping that courier will be faster than calling to set an appt to drop the form off. I am worried about sending the NOA2 original as it costs $200.00 to get a replacement copy!!!!!!

what? it costs $200 to replace the NOA2? that's just crazy. i made a copy of it and mailed the original noa2 to my fiance like 3 weeks ago. he went to the post office last week to see if it had arrived and i was shocked to find out that it wasn't there yet. it BETTER be there this week or we're gonna have some problems!

i'm thinking we're also going to use the courier service to drop off the ds-230. how reliable are they?

I hope for your sake that it gets to him!!!! As far as I know the courier service is MORE relaible than the Jamaican postal service! lol How did you send the stuff to him, by which service?

We did, Sarah. But, I told you why.

I am getting anxious. My case should arrive at the NVS this week. Is there something that I should be doing now? Can I go ahead and send in the DS-230 part 1 to the embassy? Do I need to wait for a NVS case number first?

Donna lives in Kingston. Would I get our interview date sooner by calling for an appointment to have Donna drop off the DS-230 or having a courier deliver it? From what I'm reading having a courier deliver the paper is the best option. Things do move a little faster at this stage.

Jay,
You and I are in the same boat! I am still waiting for NVC to receive my information. I will have Marlon send the DS-230 via courier and I would suggest that you have Donna do the same. Who knows which is quicker? I will call Marlon today and give him the options he has. I know that someone on VJ called the embassy and received the date of July 3 for her fiance to drop off the packet. I just want an interview date!

To all other Yardies: does Marlon NEED his NOA2 at the time he submits the DS-230?

I will be soon going to the airport. It is so werid to see that he changed his myspace page and says he lives in IL now. My dad really wants to go with me to the airport. He said for me to call him so he can get out of his boring meeting at work and he will say that it is something urgent to come with me. I am amazed the flight is actually on time. Who would of thunk that for Air Jamaica.

Hubby was saying he was going to crash and die today on the plane. Because they have an air Jamaica crew but not an Air Jamaica plane and he really wanted to fly Air JA. I asked him what kind of plane he siad he didn't know how to say it. He calmed down and relaxed. I can't imagine my first big plane ride at my age. I have been a world traveler since 6 yrs of age. So we are off to buy Crispy Creams for his arrival. My mom wanted me to stop by her house tonight but we have a full schedule so we will see. I think Dad wanted to take him to IHOP since that is the first place he wants to eat at in America.

Have a wonderful Thursday night everyone!!!

OMG! Have a wonderful evening and eat some Krispy Kremes for me! Be sure to tell hubby welcome home from all of us!

Thanks so much! It certainly does help, I just need to print out a couple more copies of the forms I need to submit in duplicate!

Okay, I am confused! I was on the Jamaican embassy website and came across this:

Immigrant Visa Applications
Since the K1 fiance visa is an immigrant visa, all I need is the Ds-156K and DS-230 right?

I had the same revelation when I put my binder together......like this sh*t is no joke...it is a serious deal. When I went to JA at the end of April I took my massive binder to my SO and we went through everything together. I'm not able to go to the interview and I know at this point it is out of my hands..I'm not fretting about it (YET) because what is to be must be..........have faith and all will be well.....

Yeah, that's why I'm putting it all together, to take it with me when I go down there. I guess we'll find some time to go over the material in between all of our other activities.

I was just wondering how the Ds230 was delivered to the embassy, was it dropped off or mailed? I am preparing to send the forms to Marlon tomorrow.
