US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Check from Canada
Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if it is possible to go to a police department in Canada to get the police check done if you are not a resident/citizen? I have already sent my stuff to the RCMP in Ottawa, but it is going to take a while and I am not sure if I can wait. I have heard it takes a few days to get it done at a police station, so if I can fly over and do it I would be able to save a ton of time.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent to Marry for K1 Interview (London UK)
Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if you need to bring a letter of intent to marry to the interview in London? If so, what are the key things that they want the letter to say?

Thanks everyone!

CanadaPolice Certificate in Canada?
I flew in from England to go to the Commissioners in Ontario as it would cut my waiting time down by 117days (I didn't have 117days to wait!). It cost about $60 or$65 and I had it back within 4 days. They were very professional and said that the RCMP had received the request as soon as it was sent electronically.

Good luck.

I don't have any experience with what happens in this situation, however, it does sound like a short amount of time between your medical and interview. If it was me I would probably call DOS just to double check that the information regarding the interview was correct. I was told by the US embassy in London that they don't update their systems as frequently as DOS, although I know they told you they had the information maybe it would be worth just double checking with DOS?

Hope everything works out for you

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 for Airline Employees
I didn't have problems with this particular questions as the airline I worked for didn't fly into the States, however, on another question that asked all of the countries I have visited in the past 10 years I had similar issues to what you are having. I just made a table on an additional page listed every country and every year I went to it as best I could. For certain destinations I just multiple entries and stated the year, I also wrote an explantation stating that I was a flight attendant and did not get my passport stamped every time I entered a country, so the dates and places listed where to the best of my knowledge and recollection.

Hope this helps

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 for Airline Employees

Do any airline employees know how to answer question 35 on the DS-230?

For the past 25 years my wife has made thousands of visits to the U.S. as airline crew and for vacation.

What would be the best way to answer the question without getting an RFE? Should we just include the past 2-3 years? Should we guess at all the dates going back 25 years? Or should we include the past year of visits and write a paragraph explaining the circumstances?

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

It is all very fast and like everyone has said more like a casual conversation. I was asked when I was going to get married and where did we meet. Done and dusted :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Conduct
Hi Everyone,

I have just found out that I will have to show a letter of conduct for every country I have lived in for more that 6 months from the age of 16 and up. I need 4 which 2 of them should not be a problem, however, I have been informed (by someone trying to get a letter from the same place), that it takes months and months to get. Is it mandatory to have these letters? What if I could show proof that I have requested the letter, but due to circumstances beyond my control it is not ready yet?

Any advice is appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Conduct from Canada
Hi Everyone,

I have been told that in order to be able to get finger prints taken for my letter of conduct from Canada, that I need to have a letter from Canada stating they need fingerprints from me in order to give me the letter. Does anyone know where I can get this letter? I am searching high and low and found nothing yet. Also, does anyone know where to find the list of countries that you don't need to get a letter of consent from.

Thank you all

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPLEASE HELP: gaining police checks
Hey,

I was told 120 days, so went to Canada and got it because I couldn't wait that long. This morning I received the original check which I sent of for 8th of Feb (received in Canada 16th), so it took about 60 days. So it too half the time they said it would...not sure if you want to risk waiting for it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94
Sorry about the duplicate posts...computer went a little nuts. The two parts were the Arrival record and the second was the departure record and I guess he kept the other part. I know we are suppose to have the departure record, but I don't know why I have the arrival record aswell. On the back he wrote my fiances name and then just handed it to me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-94
Hi,

I entered on my K1 visa on Tuesday, I handed the immigration officer my I-94 card and he gave me back two parts of the I-94. Am I suppose to have two parts of it? Last time I entered on a I-94 for (on a tourist visa), I only have one part of the I-94 handed back for my passport.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp! UK Embassy Interview Question
I took copies of everything for the interview and asked them if they would keep the originals. They told me because I made copies they would take them and not keep the originals. However, I have heard of other people who didn't get to keep the original...not sure if it depends on the person you get?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill it be an issue if my fiancé buys a two-way ticket?
I used a two way ticket when I entered on a K1 and I didn't have a problem. Some airlines will charge a fee if you don't use the return portion of your ticket so you might want to check this out. I used AA and didn't have any issues at all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo free passport pages for K1?
One is required for your visa, however, as a general rule you should never travel with a passport without empty pages (some countries like a blank page for their stamp). As you have 2 in succession you should be okay, but I would call the embassy just to make sure. Not sure if you will find this link helpful

Im and ex-flight attendant and had to renew my passport a few times due to this even though I still had years left on it. I would just call to make sure...better safe then delayed.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo free passport pages for K1?
As far as I know you always need to have one empty page in your passport to travel...so if you get your visa on one page you need at least another one to travel. There is a previous post from a few days ago about someone writing they had 3 free pages left but not consecutively and they were approved for the visa, but told to get a new passport first before the visa can be issued into the passport.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 help?
Have you called DOS to see if they have issued an interview date? When I was waiting for my interview DOS had the date on their system before the Embassy in London (the embassy told me their system is not updated as frequently). I called DOS about 10 days after my medical and they had the date...sometimes the interview letter doesn't arrive in a speedy manner. I have read on here that London are past the month of October for issuing dates but I am not sure how accurate that is.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLondon Interview Date?
The embassy will sent you a letter (packet 4) informing you of your interview date, however, in the mean time you can call DOS as they usually have it listed on their system before you receive packet 4. With you having your medical last Monday you might want to wait at least a week before calling DOS. I have heard they are taking longer to issue interviews in the past few months, however, not sure how accurate that is.

Good luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGoulds - for bags
Bags are fine as long as they aren't too large or filled with items that the Embassy doesn't allow. I took a rather large handbag with me and had no issues, also on both occasions when I was there I saw people with small backpacks.

Good luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEgyptial police report request.
I just looked on the US Embassy London website...I assume the information will be the same from the US Embassy in Manila. This is what they wrote regarding the waiting times for certificates from Eqypt

Police Records

Available. Police certificates are obtainable by both Egyptians and non-Egyptians who were born in, or who permanently reside, or have resided in Egypt. The Police Certificate, called a "Criminal Status Record" (Saheefat al Hala al Gina'iyya), may be obtained upon application to the police station nearest the applicant's place of residence in Egypt, and normally takes between one and five working days. Applicants are fingerprinted on the reverse side of the application form. The certificate will indicate if the applicant has served prison time, but will not indicate detentions, arrests or convictions without imprisonment. An applicant abroad must apply to the nearest Egyptian consular officer who will fingerprint them and forward their applications to the Ministry of Interior, Cairo. Upon completion, the report is sent to the applicant. The latter procedure usually involves considerable delay. Since the certificates are eventually issued, they must be considered available.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEgyptial police report request.
I had a similar issue when I was applying for a police report from Bahrain last year when they where having major trouble. I got in touch with everyone possible, Bahrain Embassy, US Embassy and the issuing department in Bahrain to see if there was anything I could do as it looked like waiting on the police report would severely delay the process. However, as they were still issuing the certificates although severely delayed there wasn't much that could be done but wait. The only thing that they suggested is that it might be quicker if I went in person to Bahrain to get it....I was all set to do that and lucky enough my certificate came through eventually. Maybe if you call the issuing department in Cairo they might be able to advise if there are such options?

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTax Transcripts
I had my interview in London last April and I needed the latest years of taxes which was 2010 at that time. My husband had his taxes done in Feb (I think) and I had the transcripts in time for the interview. Once they are available it doesn't take long to get them mailed out.

Hope this helps.
