US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmployer letter for I-134

So I typed up the letter which stated my name, position and salary and printed it on the company's letter head and asked my manager to sign it, and he said NO. He said I have to ask HR. Apperently my supervisor would be the right person to sign it. Well, she's a little hard to get a hold of. She travels a lot and is at her office probably 5 times a year. Why the hell can't my manager just sign it! Waiting around on HR is worse or similar to waiting for the USCIS.

I hate my job.

</end rant>

Just get your manager's manager to sign it. Everyone answers to someone.

My manager's manger is the supervisor

It's not fun but it's part of life, just like pap smears.

so now people with STDs will have their visa denied or what's the point of that? I thought they only cared about AIDS/HIV ?

Sounds an awfull lot like what they did to me, they kept telling me someone would call me, and nobody ever did. If I were you, I'd just mail it again through Fed Ex and later harrass the ####### out of DHL for a refund. Let me give you some tips, document EVERYTHING, e-mail them, that way you'll have evidence. I'll help you write a hate letter, its my speciality, hahaha. I bet they hate me as much as hate them.

Oh and do get a legalized copy of his birth certificate, just in case. He may or may not need it, but better be safe than sorry. He'll have to go to Direccion Del Registro Civil or Ministerio del something (sorry, I forget where), they're the only ones who can legalize it.

I hope your package arrived safely! It's too bad you have to change the interview day, but from the looks of it, it wont be hard.

I wish the Embassy at Buenos Aires worked as fast as the one in Asuncion. They never answer my e-mails and charge for phone calls.

Oh!!! I wish I had told you this before, but NEVER EVER EVER send anything through DHL. I sent a package to Argentina once and it NEVER arrived. Actually, it arrived, but it was stolen. I fought with them for days and basically harrased the hell out of them until they finally gave me a refund.

FED EX FOREVER AND EVER!! It's what my parents use. Also, to save some time. Tell your fiance to go pick it up at the Fed Ex office instead of having them deliver it to his house. Have you seen the streets of Paraguay or been given directions? They usually sound like this " At the cemetery, turn left, then drive down until you see a Mango tree and a despensa. Turn right, and when you will see a red fence you're there."

And yeah, not too many people interview in Paraguay for other visas because they're sick of hearing "visa denied"

:ot: :crying: My cousin was supposed to come visit this summer and was flat out denied. Apperently, they don't think she just wants to come visit, they think she wants to immigrate (and leave her college education, her boyfriend, her parents, and overrall good life to live here illegally and work as a housekeeper or a nanny).

:ot2:

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionnotarize @ the embassy
First of all, let me start by saying that I don't even know what my birth certificate looks like. It's at a safety box in the bank. My mom said she had it legalized/notarized when we came to the US in 1993, but it has never ever been needed or has been used here in the states. I'm sure things have changed since 1993 though.
If your fiance doesn't need it for his interview, you can have it notarized at the paraguayan embassy here in the states. I highly reccomend that you get it done in Paraguay though. Besides DHL, my other annoyance is the Paraguayan embassy in DC. They're really hard to deal with. They hate being bothered, and take forever to get anything done (if they don't loose your papers that is).
If this is really becoming a big problem for your fiance, I can fiind out exactly what needs to be done and where to get it done. Hector is going to Paraguay next week, so he will definetly know.

Can I just tell you how jealous I am? The embassy at Asuncion just plain rocks. I can't believe how helpful they are! The Buenos Aires embassy is terrible. They never answer e-mails, and when they do, they give very vague information and contradict themselves. They also charge $8 per phone call.

Are legalized and notarized synonyms? Birth certificates have to be legalized I believe. My fiance has to travel all the way to Paraguay to have his "legalized" at one of the Ministerios, I'm not sure which one.

Also, I read somewhere that you can use your original hiring letter (if you have one) and paystubs in place of an employee letter. Check with the embassy to see what they require.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion¨packet 3¨being denied to me for K-3
The Bs. As. embassy is terrible. I also requested "packet 3" and was told the same thing. They told me their website has not been updated in 3 years!!!

How are you getting in contact with them? My approved petition should be there by now and I have so many questions I need to ask them and I have on idea how to contact them. I tried e-mails, but they only replied to one, after a week. Their phone number is also pretty much useless if you're in the US.

Also, I was told that you can use your official hiring letter (if you have one). Luckly, I saved mine, eventhough the salary is a bit outdated, you can use paystubs to back it up. Check with the embassy. Good luck!

Technically it is required, however, each embassy has different requirements. The embassy in argentina for example , requires 2 years worth of taxes and the employer letter is optional. You might want to check with the embassy in India and what they require.

mew, plz accept my sincerest apology. maybe having been previously married to a woman that would always ask me stuff and then never believe my answer i'm overly sensitive to it. in any case, i had no right to make assumptions or to answer you as i did. thank you everybody here for pointing out my failing here. i do try to live by the adage "if you have nothing good to say don't say anything". again mew, my sincerest apology. i hope you and your fiance have a very speedy visa process and a lifetime of happiness together.

Apology accepted. :) Actually, it was a very nice thing for you to do, to understand that you've made a mistake and apologize for it. A very noble thing.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan you only travel from the country where visa is issued?
Exactly, that's what I thought! Plus technically he IS coming from Buenos Aires. He's just staying in Paraguay for a few days to see his family and say goodbye. The problem is that nothing gets stamped when he crosses the Paraguayan - Argentine border.

Thanks guys, I knew I could find the answer here. (F)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan you only travel from the country where visa is issued?
I apologize in advanced if this has been asked before.

My fiance is an Argentine resident, but is a citizen of Paraguay. He's currently going through the K1 process in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This will be the country that will issue his visa on his Paraguayan passport.

I'm planning on going to visit him for Christmas in Paraguay (where my family is and where his family is). We want to fly back to the US together from there (wishful thinking!).

My question is this: Can he travel to the US from Paraguay or can he only travel from Argentina? He was told by a very unreliaveable source that his K1 visa and his passport is only good if he flies from Argentina.

Help? Pleaseeee!! (F)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat if the bank officers and jerks and....
I honestly don't think it's that important. I have beenbugging my bank for over a month now to get them to write the letter regarding my bank account. They have been IMPOSIBLE. They kept telling me I should get it in a couple of days and I never did. I finally gave up and decided to just go ahead and only include the last couple of bank statements. I also included recent pay stubs and an original hire letter which clearly stated my starting salary (also had an issue getting an employer letter). I was told that I should be ok.

Oh and I finally got the letter from my bank today, only a month late.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Question Regarding Embassy in Foreign Country
My fiance was born in Paraguay but is a legal resident of Argentina. The case went to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Honestly, it really complicates everything. Eventhough he has lived in Argentina for almost all of his life, he was born in Paraguay.
He basically needs 2 of everything from each country. Birth Certificate from Paraguay and National Papers from Argentina, police ceritifcate from Paraguay(because he lived in Paraguay for over 6 months after turning 16) and one for Argentina.
I yell at him daily for moving to Argentina :P

Different country, same story. I have to practically BEG the embassy for anything. I e-mailed them for packet 3 (they never sent it in the mail), and I just e-mailed them asking for packet 4.
