If you call the USCIS 800 number to check the status of your case, it gives you a timeline of when it should be approved. For me, it says 30-45 days, so it should be approved in 45 days tops. No matter what they told you, you still have to go your local office anyway. You can only apply for your SSN in person. Good luck! At a friend's birthday party Thats cool, I just have this theory that anyone who said they met on line in any way are being flagged for AR. But I may be wrong. Just strange how people apply approx same time have a big difference in progress. Maybe some case workers are faster than others who knows..you will go crazy thinking about it. Well, we met in 1998, and we were friends for a while, but then we lost touch for a couple of years. Then we ran into each other at a website, so I'm not sure if they consider that meeting online. Who knows. Also, some people's applications get stuck in security checks because of their names. I hope that wont happen to me, I don't know too many Griseldas I want to go down there for Christmas and to help him pack and fly together, so as long as it's approved by then, it's alllll good.
