United KingdomTravelling to US whilst waiting for K1
hi there

i came over with our K1 journey approved..i had no problems at the airport.. but what i did bring with me for the visit was ...a letter from my employer stating my vaction time and what date i will be starting work again...bank records current statement...my rental statements..

the only question of me was who i was visiting an i told them my fiance ...and got told enjoy my stay

they have all your information on the computer about you...they can see if you are a risk of staying over illegally...

i wouldnt worry too much on it....i say that after entering while on the journey lol

take care an good luck in the rest of your journey

United KingdomMedical done, now I wait...
hi there

congrats on getting through this part of the process..i would contact your local doctor to find out about the mumps thing..i always thought it was a seperate thing too..
oh by the way did you get a copy of your vaccination sheet from your doc u will need it down the track..also when u do get the needle ask your doctor for a letter stating you have had it and staple it to your copy of your vaccination sheet...i dont know if u have to go back to the medical examiner to get your vaccination sheet refilled either..things to think about though huh...

good luck for interview

hi there

i thought it was just the criminal convictions that they looked for .. i dont know what a retsriction order would come under and what the law of UK might be in this situation...

why not get your fiance to ring his local police station and ask this question hopefully they might be able to help you

hope u get a better answer than i had and you can get something sorted out soon

hi
im a mixture. born in england raised in australia...being with my family so long the english accent rubs off on ya.. i was 8 when i left eng.

over here i get either ..are u british or are you australian... i suppose it all depends on how i pronounce my words...i have even been asked if i was german (young fella) but an old man piped up an said no she is australian lol

kath
p.s. cringed caroline when i read your posts about aussie sayings...a few of my american mates goes to me "Crikey Mate" ..ohhh please and roll my eyes lol
pss. well if ya ask my husband why ..he would tell ya were a different type of woman compared to american women..(and i didnt say that to offend anyone either)

United Kingdomflights with british midland airlines
hiya all
thanks so much for all your inputs on this subject.

well i am back in the states now trip was fantastic got to go places each and everyday and met relatives i either cant remember or never met before...took over 1500 photo's..and the first thing my mum says to me when she saw me..was you little imp...if ya didnt know my mum didnt know i was going over to see her lol...

as for BMI ... fllight over i was in economy seating was a bit squishy ... service was great...i was cheeky enough to ask for hot water so i could make my own coffe (took satchels of coffee) and they were very happy to do so..entertainment was good...once i got to work out the games time flew fast...flight was easy compared to going to australia...

coming home...i had economy premium...omg if you can afford that both ways do it...i had heaps of leg room foot rest and a button to push out the seat in your lower back (wouldnt have a clue what the word is for it)...no one sitting beside me..large viewing screen....flight was good service excellent on both flights..

at manchester airport on the way home...being so many checking in attendents were helping out...the lady asked for my passport...my greencard...asked about the different name to my greencard..showed her my marriage certificate then she noticed that my greencard was about to expire in a week and asked if i would be renewing it..gave her my extension letter and all was good to check in...

coming through customs at chicago...they didnt even ask for marriage certificate or my extension letter...i declared that i had food in my bags and was sent to the left for my luggage to be inspected...i only brought in some lollies and beer...and amazingly enough the 6 pack of vb (aussie beer) did not break because i had to put it in my luggage...phew...my hubby was so rapt about that not breaking..

once again thanks for you input...although i read all the replies whilst in england i had forgotten my password to put my two bobs worth in..

Mexico, Latin & South Americagosh--this is really hard some days
hi there

i tell ya i remember all the above feelings..it is one of the hardest things you go through .. to be seperated from the one you love for so long...my now husband wanted to sell up everything leave a 20 year job and come to australia to be with me...i couldnt let him do that...we never argued over it just pointed out why we are doing it this way what we will have together when it is finally over and expressed our inner most feeling for each other daily...

now i am here in the states it is everything we strived for he is more content and so am i happy as larry we are...

your next big step is the interview that also can be nerve racking but lots get through it an say the same thing ..what the hell were we worried about...

the process we go through is so long winded that true love wins ....its a very emotional roller coaster but we all get through it ..lots to look forward to ...your wedding day...starting a life together... filling out forms again .. the wait again.. and finally getting that greencard and your AOS approved...

good luck to you

Asia: SouthCitizenship & EAD issues !! pls advice
resident alien? (alien = person)
1. an alien who has legally established residence in the U.S.
2. an alien who has legally entered the U.S. as an immigrant with the intention of becoming a citizen.

permanent resident

A non-U.S. citizen who has been given permission to make his or her permanent home in the United States. If you acquire permanent residence, you will be issued a green card to prove it. The terms permanent resident and "green card holder" mean exactly the same thing. You cannot be a permanent resident without a green card and you cannot have a green card without being a permanent resident. As a permanent resident, you may travel as much as you like, but your place of residence must be the United States and you must keep that residence on a permanent basis. If you leave the United States and stay away for more than a year, you risk losing your green card.

Citizenship Requirements for Employment for Non Citzens

take a look at the above link might help understand it also...

good luck.

phew!!!! just looked at my packet 3 details and they have put my correct birthdate on it ...was a tad worried there for a bit...

hi there

when she enters the U.S. and hands over the envelope it should have her medical results inside...all that information get sent to USCIS..

before she leave her homeland get her to contact the medical examiner to see if she can get a copy of her vaccination sheet..

and i suppose when the copy of the vaccination sheet comes with the AOS they compare it to the original...

Asia: East and PacificShow me the way to the land down under!
hi cheese and kisses

for the americans to visit australia you need a valid passport and get a visa..you can apply online take a look at the link below...
ETA VISA TO VISIT AUSTRALIA

it doesnt cost that much and you can do it online.. and just print it out

if your looking at which airline to use.. we use QANTAS because if you want to see a bit of australia there are deals where you can get 3 free flights within australia.. link below

QANTAS DEALS TO AUSTRALIA

we also used orbitz.com for flights..

as for the which visa to use..there are two different types if your going to get married .... K3 and CR1/IR1

VISA GUIDES

what you usually have to give for the interview is affidavit of support .....bank statements... tax transcripts for past 3 years (or 1 year which they ask for) bank letter... employer letter..
but these things you might wait till your approved to send over to your fiance....

what you could do while your in oz is get your fiance or husband (if you marry) to fill out the biographical form to take back with you to the states to start the process.... that is the G-325A form...

your best bet is to read all the guidelines on here way up all your options and choose which suits you best...the K1 is usually alot faster than the others...
take a look at your visa options below

know your visa options.
also with the new law inforce you cannot do the DCF ..that option is only to US citz that reside in australia...

hope that was some help to you...you should come introduce yourself to the other aussies on vj in the land downunder thread...hope to see ya there...
also was good to see you on the aussie vj map too .. your not too far from me .. im in toledo ohio...

Asia: East and PacificAnother Police Certificate Question
hi kym

when he went for his police certificate did he ask for a national police check and tell them it is for a visa to immigrate to the states...

the 16 yr old thing has to do with if you lived for 6 months or more in another country...but if he has been in australia all his life he only needs to get a national police check not a state by state police check..

we have an aussie thread on vj that helps with anything aussie...from medical to police checks to paying the fees to the interview in sydney...lots of reading but worth the look kym....just click on land downunder .. and the last post and your there...
