Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi tamzo well we did our interview last june...we went from the airport to the hotel which was a 5 min walk away from the embassey... we took a taxi and it was around 15mins or so drive...and cost around 50 dollars... now the Martin place railway station is directly infront of the embassey....on our return home to melbourne we caught the train and but it wasnt from martin place..and that took us...about 15 mins...if you would like me to look up the time tables for you i know where to look cos me being padantic sort out all kinda transport info before i left melb...just give us a yell if ya want any info... as for your luggage..are you staying at a hotel...and what time is your appointment...maybe leave it at the airport or the station might have lockers for the day...or you could ask one of the shops to take care of them for a few hours... offer them something for the inconvience...ohh by the way hampster is having his interview on the day after yours... good luck kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-28 23:07:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya pris which doc ya going for ya medical...Dr. poppenbeck is cool...its just a general physical mate...and if you are getting your bloody tests done at your local doc dont forget to take along the printed copy of the results for him to enter into the vaccination sheet...you can also get ya HIV and syphilis tests done on medicare too... medical is valid for 12 months...and with you getting your greencard upon entry you will be right mate..its k3 and k1's that has to change status and calculate the medical and police check...mine actually expires this month....damm where the hell did those 12 months go lol... good to hear that j is going to still try mate...tell him to say I-797C notice of action (NOA)..makes you wonder when you get an operator like that huh... Below are the links for the medical..although it is from the Thailand embassey website they are in english and compared to the copies i have here they are the same...took me ages to find them pris way back in feb i posted this one lol... Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya emerald i also brought quite a few over with me...they wouldnt work on robbies dvd player so for my birthday last year robert got me a portable dvd player...and they work just change the region to pal stick um in and bobs ya uncle... if your going to shop for them take a couple of your favs with you and request a demo to see if your aussie dvd's will work before buying...look for fully compatible with dvd .. although it is a portable dvd player it can be plugged into your tv to watch... robert got me a portable one so we could take it on holidays...cant wait for july havent been camping for a few years..not looking forward to sorting out the pop up camper though lol shame i didnt know you vylex when we were looking for one lol but i have copied and pasted it in a word doc for future reference...thanks hi elle take a look at this link there is an address at the bottom for vermont and the phone number too Vermont Service Centre couldnt find anything for a vermont email address as yet.. talk to ya all later kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-23 14:10:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi seren with your affidavit of support did you enclose orginals of your parents tax details..the w2's and the 1040's...we took to the interview 3 years of tax assesments and bank statements...and also a letter from his employer stating his earning and how long robert had been working there.. robert came with me to the interview they just asked him one question although i could of done it on my own it was good support..he will be fine im sure as long as he has everything in the order they ask for....read some of the reviews also that would help... im holding up pretty well thanks i was much better after hearing my mums voice and she is going well she is a tough little pommie...lol i found this in the herald sun today might be interesting for the ones that are leaving oz soon.. hand luggage restrictions moone what i said above might help you also mate.. take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-23 00:41:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi david when your wife applies for her SSN they actually give you a receipt stating you have applied ..so if she goes for a job interview she can show the employer that she has actually applied and just waiting for it to arrive... thanks elle she is home now an will be ringing her on the weekend to see how she is going... we bought a dvd recorder the other week or so...i am just now getting round to putting our wedding on dvd to send home lol the one we got was 98 dollars from walmart and it actually finalises the dvd to be played anywhere in the world...so im rapt lol so if you dont wanna get a pro to put it on dvd buy a recrding dvd its fantastic..im busy also putting all the fishing shows i can find onto dvd for my boy... i rang the hospital down the road to do some volunteer work...the lady is going to send out the forms for me ..either doing the food trays or in the pharmacy i said the latter...so will see how it goes...hopefully i can get times that suits me dont know how it works ...i thought of doing it ages ago but thought i would have a job by now...so with me doing a bit of volunteer work ..i can put that on my resume and maybe ask for a reference..who knows i might like the pharmacy and get into that kinda work..lol who knows what the future brings lol take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-22 14:40:00

Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya pris i took a look at the following link..im thinking i might be wrong..they are sending it to another service centre cos they dont process them in nebraska...that is your local office though... take a look..there is no I-130 for the processing times nebraska process times another reason they transfer petitions is because of backlog at that office... for my AOS i was sent to California because of the backlog at cleveland .... found out last night that my mum was in hosp getting a big thing taken off her face..it was cancerous but from what my bro said they got it all an shouldnt be back..she comes home tonight..so i was on the net all night well early hours of our morning trying to call my sis with no luck and talkin to my bro and daughter and my son on msn.. was funny i was looking round for my phone card rang me mum she wasnt home (derr now i know why) and so i thought i would try to send my sis a sms cos 2 days ago it didnt work.. i get a message back that she is in hosp..then i ring my bro and he said i was just about to ring you...so i said go on msn its cheaper for us then my daughter signed in told her..then my son did too so we all got to chat and let um know in one hit... lol sorry on a lighter note. im listening to an australian cd i made for robert one year..its quite funny aussie songs and termanology of slang...lol anyone want a copy let me know will post it to ya.. take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-20 17:59:00

Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi seren chocolate ripple cake is yum... found the recipe and a pic for ya seren.... chocolate ripple cake recipe went shopping today and got ourselves new keyboards..they are rubber they can be rolled up and washed...its great taking a bit to get use to typing on but they are great... elle you will be fine at the poe mate...they just take your passport and your filled in i-94 ...ask you a few questions ..dont take long at all...they enter your details in the computer for your greencard and you should get that within weeks of entering the country from what i have read....no big deal at all...just like comin here on a visit... take care kath Edited by Kath, 17 March 2007 - 04:39 PM. Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hell bells you lot ya makin me home sick of all this talk about chocie and food...lol there is nothing like our cadbury chocolate...even the cadbury that is made by hershey here aint the same.. ohh i would love some fish and chips with chicken salt all over them and the dimmies damm ..aint nothing here like the flake we get there robert has searched high an low for me hehehe hammy...i use to work for Big W in the dock area..the reps would do the same thing with the chocy's....years ago when it was easter we were allowed to buy bags of it too..but then the health people said we couldnt so the policy changed it use to break my heart having to dump it all but the smell got me through the day lol congrats on the NOA1 rings at least you now know they have your petition in their hands mate...and those chocy's ya love are called cherry ripes...i agree they are yummmmmmm!!!!! lyndel we had 74f =23.3c toaday ..i tell ya it was lovely driving around with the sunroof open and the sun warming the arms...saw heaps of kids walkin around in shorts and singlets and summer dresses lol...it wasnt hot to me but damm those kids are gunna swealter if we get a hot summer here lol and the snow is almost melted just got the dirty piles to go around town and some of the small creeks and rivers are still partially frozen... serendip if you think that the fish and chips from oz are fantastic you should taste the ones from england...i remember as a kid friday nights going up to the local fish and chippy having them wrapped up in newspaper and mmmmmmmmmm damm my parents always said the aussie's dont cook fish an chips like home lol... tamzo i have emailed that bloke i was talking about for you just waiting for a reply...also i saw that there is another aussie from perth called michelle...if you go to the embassey info and click on all aussie members you will find her...maybe she will help you out too...also WA aint the only state that doesnt do anything at the police stations melbourne doesnt either...i had to go into the police headquarters in melbourne to get mine done and i also had a hell of a do getting it done by them.. ok now for what i did today with my hubby with me getting my greencard and EAD i went into Social Security to get the notation of not eligible to work taken off my records with SSA....went in close to closing was in an out within 15mins... i downloaded and filled out the form i needed which saved time she look at my cards and updated it for me..so now i just gotta wait for the new card to arrive and im all done with SSA... my hubbs has the whole week off because of down time at jeep.. so he took me to a pie factory called Crikey pies authentic australian pies.. they had finished cooking for the day and were cleaning up ..we went in my hubby sez wanted to show your place to an aussie lol.... we were welcomed in had the tour of the place talked to the owners husband who is the american who went to oz years ago an met his wife..had a family then came back here 5 years ago and found there were no aussie meat pies here so they experimented with them marketed them and now they sell to the supermarkets here had a lovely half an hour talking to the husband of the australian (am bad with names lol) i then asked if they thought of making sausage rolls .his eyes glowed lol he went to the freeze and got 2 pork and 2 chicken sausage rolls for us to take home...they are in experimental stage with them at the moment finding the closest ingredients to the aussie sausage rolls..well i tell ya when we got home i quickly popped them in the oven and we sat down to eat them...they were delish...never had a chicken one before though so it was a new taste for me but i reckon they have it very close to the original...so tomorrow im going to ring the wife up there and tell her what i thought of them..she was in new york for a meeting so i wasnt able to meet her... so there ya go ..i have known about this place for 4 years robert got told off for not bringing me there sooner lol..so im rapt that i got to see the bakery...and hopefully i will get to meet an aussie in toledo whooo hoooo lol at the moment they are trying to get them into roberts work so when he goes back he is going to push for them too ..to get them sold at his work... if you would like to look at their website the link is below... I would give them a call on the Monday to see if they have received it...take a look at some one the K1er's timelines might give you a rough idea... you also get a letter stating it has been forwarded to sydney...also take a look at the Australian embassey info at the top of this page it gives you all that is received in the packet 3 ..and what to send back... and im sure you have enough evidence..dont forget the airline itenaries and ticket stubs for the flights..and your cell phone records...letter or emails .. cards that might of been sent for that special occasion..anything that shows you conversed regularly ... good luck on hearing something soon from NVC take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-03-10 03:36:00

Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya rings damm your good ...good on ya for finding that link mate... well today 25th june marks a year i left australia and landed here in detroit...it only seems like its been about 5 months lol apart from going through the seperation anxiety from robert when he went to work and grumbling about the food lol and getting use to the speeds over here i can sum up the year as being a very happy one... acheivements not many really...got through my AOS with no hassles within 46 days i received my greencard..(got transferred to CSC) with no interview ... got my SSN - only one hassle there was the lady didnt look at my marriage cert when offered...so had to go back....getting my own credit card and bank account....finally after heaps of applications recently got a job (but dammed if i know when im gunna start) ... and this month i passed my learners so i can drive on my australian licence and the next big thing is passing the driver's test... so all in all i assimilated quite well although sometimes i speak too soft and they cant either hear me or understand me lol... and as a couple we have grown closer and love deeper than while we were seperated.. he has shown me so many things and taught me heaps...and i thank whoever it was that brought us together...and also thank the computer world for creating such a fantastic way to meet friends and your future husbands or wives... i wish for you lot in here doing this journey that you find the same love and contentment in your lives when you fianlly get here...group hugs to you all ... although i have nearly finished my journey...you lot have kept me sane by letting me help you in this last year...thank you... take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-25 14:10:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi sharyna hope you hear something about it soon...i asked my hubby and he said its not apart of america.. its apart of Uruguay ..not apart of north america...so with that im thinking you will have to get a police check from that country mate..depends also how long you lived there too.. i might be wrong but i think its 12 months...doesnt it state on the packet 3 when talking about police checks about other countries what the time you have spent there .. its from the age of 16yrs too..so if you were over there when u were 16 u will need one from there... hope you get it all sorted out mate.. take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-24 23:24:00

Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi nip i have cousins in mackay and my aunt and uncle are in rocky... dont worry on the hotels there are heaps in sydney...take a look at the embassey info i posted a website in there of the area where the consulate is and from memory i think it showed hotels too...they usually give you plenty of time to organise yourself and if you cant book hotels or flights u can always request another interview date... we flew up to sydney from melbourne stayed in a pub about 5 min walk from the consulate...i got some pics of the consulate if you want them just give me a hoy... hi ya rings how you doing...what did you decided on which path to take...saw loke's arm damm what a bruise that was.. you wonder how the addicts can stand it huh... take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-21 23:44:00

Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi nip wow sounds like they really screwed up big time with you guys...thats the thing i dont like about this visa journey.. if they stuff up they dont have any quarms about telling you to reapply and pay again huh... the medical aint too bad ... and the interview aint all that bad either..where in oz are you...there is heaps of info in here and also the embassey info is a good place to find out things too...good luck in the rest of the journey and dont hesitate to ask anything ya like ... hi sharyna hmmm i would of asked my mum to open it lol the suspense would of killed me lol...maybe its just confirmation that the medical was received and u can forward the readiness forms to sydney.... will wait and see what ya tell us to really find out what it could be all guesses here mate.. hi jayde welcome to the thread...are you doing the fiance' visa...which state ya from..what i said above also is to you mate..dont hesitate to ask anything ya like even vent about USCIS ...we all know what its like lol.. good luck to you... ohh by the way just an update on my learners written test.. i rang up where i want to take my test cos i had heaps of questions. what i learned is this: with me passing the written test i am able to drive on my australian licence for up 30 days..and go for my drivers licence within that time... after i pass (IF) my driving test i go to the licence place where they give you the card...and change my last name by showing my marriage certificate.. and i can drive alone i dont need my husband with me to drive... just thought i would lets ya's know what i found out .. this is in the state of Ohio...so check about the reciprocal scheme and see what they tell you...toledo licence place is so uninformative..lol glad i rang bowling green lol.. so there ya go ...at the moment the car is in the mechanics to see what the damm noise is when turning... hi ya to you all and hope all is going well.. kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-21 20:36:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya all just thought i would convey a bit of news ...i got my learners permit today...yaaaaaaaaaaaay ...lol i didnt have to pay for the permit cos australia is reciprocal with U.S. so when i passed the guy asked if i wanted to schedule my drivers test lol...no i said i want to get some more practice in lol...they have no sense of humour in that place either lol cracked the joke about us aussies driving on the right side you know the correct side and it went totally over his head even tried to explain the joke but nope no grin he just didnt get it lol... so driving home robbie goes and drives into a car park and sez here ya go lol...went into michigan quite town and scared the f out of us when i went through a stop sign..both of us didnt see it...until we were upon it..freaked me out and all i can see now is robert holding onto the door pushed back into the seat lol...luckily there was no cars coming she shouts stop and i had to make my mind up to floor it or stop and by the time he shouted i was entering the intersectoin...so i floored it...so girlfromoz ya not on ya own mate...and i was being so careful lol... take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-19 19:22:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi sharyna i was pretty shocked about it too thats why i mention it to others so they wont be.....was nothing to get embarassed about at least it aint as invasive as a pap smear mate over in 3 seconds.... good on ya for emailing the embassey best way to find out exactly what they are on about ... hope you dont bruise and your right there are some that dont know how to take blood....you will be fine ...good luck ..as the receptionist if you will be getting a copy of the medical if not request one... hi loke when you go in to pick up the results and they dont give you a copy ask for one..they should have a copy in their files to photo copy mate.. and yeah i feel as though i havent got a job lol...i would get your other shots in oz loke...at least you can put them on medicare ...i dont know what rings insurance is like and it might cost you over here...to give you an idea of what im talking about...i went in to the docs not cos i was sick but to register as a new patient...he examine me i took him a copy of my medical i just had in oz and he ordered blood work and a mamagram (which i was not impressed about) cos over here they start doing them at 40 unike oz they start at 50... now robert has good insurance...for the docs it cost $175.00 insurance paid $70.45 we ended up having to pay out of our pockets $104.55...i was so shocked it cost that much just to go register as a new patient...then i went for like a full blood work done...the total included my mamagram which was $487.00 we had to pay $45.45...its quite a hard system to get use to robbie tried to explain it to me ..something to do with your insurance has a co-pay thing (deductible) that you have to pay ..robs is $150 a year when u reach that in a year you dont have to pay...so if rings has a good insurance get ya tetnus shot over here mate...but to save money i would get it before you come over... hi vylex whooooooooooooo hooooooooooooo the tim tams arrived..thanks for them and i couldnt believe it only took one day..you posted them saturday and i got them this morning (mon) that is the quickest i have ever got anything in the mail here lol..i put them in the freezer straight away..nothing like the smell of our famous tim tams...thanks ever so much ya sweetie... later all kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-18 11:26:00
Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi sharyna yeah i did answer your questions about your check list mate lol ...also a question for ya .. when you got your name changed did you get a name change certficate..maybe thats what they are going on about... here is the link for nsw change of name registry.. nsw name change if that is what you have i think you should be right mate.. there is a section of a replacement of the certificate in that link also..you could always email the sydney embassey and tell them what you have and if that is good enough ... dont be nervous mate about the medical its not too bad... hi loke whoo hoo on getting the medical completed... i know it must be such a hectic time for you right now.. but hang in there will get easier.. saturday was a year ago we were in sydney doing our interview wow where oh where did that year go..next anni is 25th june for a year being in the states then the big one on 1st july our wedding day...damm its flown by... hi ya moonie aint it a great feeling when your loved one is finally here...wow this must be a big change for him to be living here .. i think all of us may of been over here at least once.. how is he settling in...does he complain about the food yet lol..send him our regards and tell him welcome to america... still no word from k mart.. i bet you 2 days before we leave on hols i get the phone call...lol..hell hammy i cant believe you dont get a discount that really isnt good... Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya tamzo take a look at the time line below for the EAD EAD TIMELINES AOS TIMELINE depends on how the new fee processing goes huh...they are saying that it should be faster but how are they going to catch up on all the backlogs and be caught up for when the new fees start... i was transferred to California.. i got my greencard within a month...but its hard to judge on how long it will take mate..fingers crossed it will be within the lotted time and you dont get caught up in the FBI name check... good luck mate... kath whoops edit time: when you look at the AOS put in the NYC local office you will be filing with...so you have to look to see which is your office ok... Asia: East and Pacific	LAND DOWNUNDER	hi ya rings although i dont know much about the marriage visa's i have taken a look at the guidelines of both k3 and the CR1-IR1 route i would way up your options mate.. if you persue the CR1/IR1 route loke can enter as a permanent resident.. you dont have to do the AOS he can work and doesnt need AP to travel back to oz if there is an emergency... where as with the K3 you have to do your AOS and EAD and AP... if you are dead sure from the way the operator was talking.. I would either keep hounding to find out what is going on about your I-130 or wait for notification in the mail...if the operator was going to update your files maybe it wont be long before you hear something from USCIS... weigh everything up mate...i know you want to be together asap but think of the advantages also of not having to do the AOS and not having anything to do with USCIS for 2 years...i sound like im twisting your arm but im not mate ..if i was you i would wait ...whats say a month or so apart when u can have 2 years off from USCIS...just my two bobs worth mate... hopefully someone else can give them some insight into it also rings and loke...good luck in what you choose to do guys... take care kath	Kath	Female	Australia	2007-06-14 23:58:00
