Canadadeclaring an item on the 3299 form
Hey VJ'ers hoping someone can help me out.

I am packing up my household here in Toronto. My fiance and I just purchased a house in Western NY and to make a long story short, I want to rip out the carpeting in the rooms upstairs and replace it with new laminate flooring.

I work in highrise new build construction and got this flooring dirt cheap from one of my suppliers. I love the product and color and have not been able to find a similar product for the price I got.

My question is how do I declare this on form 3299? I am driving a Uhaul over the border with all of my stuff and plan on packing this with my belongings.

CanadaCrossing border after just filing for K-1
KTand Tommy,

My fiance and I were planning on filing our paperwork over the Christmas vacation (he would be going back to Florida, and after a month-long vacation I would be returning to Toronto)... we had interesting circumstances. We were driving across the border, to fly down to Florida from Niagara Falls airport... both on one-way tickets, because I was going to be driving back with my parents, who were driving down for Christmas as well, a few days later.

I always enter at Niagra and they always give me a hard time. I finally got a NEXUS pass and cross over from Niagra Falls Canada to Niagra Falls NY. My fiancee lives just outside of Buffalo. The only bridge that I cross at now is the Whirlpool Bridge. This is NEXUS access only. The US customs agents are pretty nice there and I never get a hassle. The US customs agent told me to carry my I-797 form with me when I was crossing over and that if I had that plus other documents (letter from employer, utility bills, currnet bank info) that I shouldn't have any issues crossing over.

Hope this helps.

CanadaWhen You Eat Your Smarties
What I am going to miss the most when I move to Western NY is a decent selection of cheese and pealmeal bacon :(. I've checked Wegmens and Tops and they have nothing compared to what I have been buying..live in Toronto and am used to shopping at the St. Lawerance Market...sigh...that is one thing that I am really going to miss!
