Guys my girl has just broke it off. She said that she can't do the waiting anylonger. How many of you have dealt with this and made it through it?

Sorry to hear this. I agree with others don't cancel out your petition yet, the approval may change her feelings. I have been amazed at the emotional roller coaster this has been so far, and I have not done as well as I would have liked dealing with it. So I can certainly understand, but when the NOA #2 arrives and it will, things will improve. I wish you and her the very best!!

so I'm already starting to ask those AOS questions because packet 3 is in the bag so naturally i'm moving right along and driving Mr. Loxy crazy. He'll thank me later when AOS is easy peasy.

Here is a post I just put in the AOS forum:

We are a K-1 expecting to adjust status after we get married.

1) I'm confused, do I have to or not have to file I-130? I don't see it in the guides, but I saw it on the USCIS site.

2) You're supposed to file AOS before I-94 runs out? Seriously? What if we plan on getting married on the 88th day? Should he wait to enter the U.S. so we have enough time for marriage plus AOS filage?

3) If answer to number 1 is Yes, do we file the I-130 and I-485 together? Or do we have to wait to file the I-485 until I-130 goes through?

4) I'm guessing soon as honey lands he can file for SS#? I thought I read that somewhere even though that sounds crazy to me.

---
booyah. if you know the answers now you get brownie points

(praying for the rest of the NOA2s to come through)

Dizzy, DIDO, I have the same questions! Also if we get the SSN after arrival and before the wedding, we will have to turn around and get the name changed on the SSN. Why not just wait until after the wedding to get the SSN??

These are amazing times for sure!!

Just checked our case status today, and we got an RFE!

Yaaaaaaaaay! I'm just happy they actually looked at it. I wonder what it's for as my fiance and I took care to make sure we got everything and we provided a ton of solid evidence of having met in the last two years. I think it probably has to do with either my citizenship or my employment history. Though both of those items seem trivial to send an RFE out for. We'll see, I guess.

Welcome to the RFE Dog House, wish I had a better name for it. We use to be next to each other on the December filers list before the CSC VSC split, do you remember?? Anyways, I am sure this means you guys are just a few weeks from NOA# 2 now. Take care..

I feel the same as you did. I am very curious to know why we got a RFE. Hope you get approved very soon. :) It'll give the rest of us some assurance that we are next. Good Luck!!

Thanks!! Let us know what your RFE is when you get the actual letter, I mean as long as it's "public information" hahahahaha. Just kidding!! It will be something small and you can get it sent asap and be back in the hunt for the all elusive NOA #2. Then you will be just a week or two away. I am hoping we get our NOA #2 soon so I can post "WHAT DO WE DO NOW?" Can you imagine the smacking and beating from Mari??? :o

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember Filers

I just checked and we got a RFE today. :(

Welcome to the RFE "Dog House" the worst part is the time between the notice and actually getting the letter so as to know what they are looking for. For us it was a 5 day wait, lots of pacing the floor, speculation, (me job searching in Manila News Papers!)
Turns out I had sent the Notice of Entry of Judgment for my Divorce rather than a copy of the actual Judgment. :bonk: I already had it and didn't even have to run to the courthouse for a copy. Was nothing!!
One week ago I received a text from USCIS stating that my case status has changed and the evidence I submitted is in review. So we wait!! I really believe this RFE is good news, I am happy to get it now rather than a month down the road. It's difficult seeing so many NOA #2 being handed out all around you and you get an RFE. BUT in the bigger picture it just means they are looking at your case and it will be concluded very soon!!

Yes we are getting closer Dizzy!! Despite being in the RFE "Dog House" I know it's getting close. I have been reading about the AOS including some posts at VJ and now I am confused about something??? I thought the requirements for the K-1 was to be married AND file the AOS within the 90 days of arrival? However, I read a post saying that the requirement is that you get married, the AOS can be filed after the 90 time period but as soon as possible?

So which is it??? Hay, since we are all in this for the long haul, I thought I would bring this question to the Decemberite family and get some factual information.
Yours Truly, Rex

Progress on my RFE! The hardcopy arrived on Saturday, 2 days after the official update. As I expected, it said "The petitioner is advised to submit a copy of the front pages of passport showing name as well as pages of stamped entry to the Ukraine.(sic)" That, an a full page of "if"s, footnotes, and repeating the relevant guidelines, complete with all of the special cases that didn't apply to me.

I already had all of the pages of my passport scanned and ready to print, so it took next to no time to have the requested documentation ready to go, and I left it in the capable hands of the USPS today.

(crossing fingers)

-Dan

Cool, sounds like you are on top of it!!! We got an RFE on the 11th, waited and waited to receive the hard copy. On the 18th I sent the response (they wanted my divorce judgement) received a text stating the RFE response was under review on the 21st (I think) and now still waiting?? Just thought I would give you a detailed look at our time and the RFE. :hehe: Lee AKA: REX

All -

I strongly urge you to prepare yourself mentally for the "Days to NOA2" countdown on our timeline. It's easy to get caught up in checking Igors list and focusing on the recent NOA2s, but remember that the days the service centers have left based on recent approvals IS REFLECTED in the Decemberite timeline. For example, I have a little less than 70 days until my NOA2. Preparing myself mentally for 2 months and 10 days will allow me a less stressful journey. If it comes early? Great! If it doesn't, I know how much time I have left before I can call in the big guns.

Stay positive, and set yourself up for excitement! Not let down xo

Hi Dizzy, thanks for all of your quality work and for being positive and keeping it real!! I consider Jenie Bee and me to be now online with the VSC since our RFE when it comes to time. If good fortune should strike and our NOA # 2 arrives in the next 60 days great, if not well then, we are getting very close still. I am SO HAPPY for our Decemberite family whom have received NOA # 2 already, but at times it makes me over excited so I have to keep it real like you have suggested above.

Mari, we were suppose to have the wedding July 9th and I would take vacation the next 1 to 2 weeks and we would road trip to SF then to Disneyland etc. I also have a brother in So Cal. we would visit and stay with. Take I-395 East of the Sierra Nevada's, to Alturas, over to Crater Lake, home. Unfortunately I was thinking that Jenie Bee would arrive mid to late June, I didn't understand the visa process or dealing with USCIS etc..

Now that we have the RFE I am thinking Jenie Bee will arrive mid July, kind of throws things off. Also my company made a new rule at the end of last year No vacations August & September. So if the wedding is in August or September it will be back to work on Monday.

So to be honest it has been quite a long week waiting on the RFE letter to know what they are looking for and coming to the reality that the July 9th wedding was a little to optimistic. I have been going over the I-129F and supporting evidence looking for errors, the only red flags I see is that I took my own passport pictures and they are questionable also my divorce papers look "cheezy" to me and I did not send the originals. Also I had trouble getting Jenie Bee's address into the provided spaces so I put a label over each place asking for her address, that made it quite clear.

Ok come on, you know I am like the dino in Toy Story (in panic mode) waiting for the RFE letter 'WHAT IS IT!!!" :o

Flights and point of entry?? Hay, we are on the downward slide in this visa process, big events are getting closer!! I have read some reviews of POE and I still do not understand what this involves and how long it takes?? My precious fiancee will be making the trek from Manila to Portland by herself and it looks like the 2 best options are Delta with a Layover in Japan and Hawaiian air layover in Hawaii. I have done both and I much prefer Hawaiian air but that would make Honolulu her POE rather than Portland.

Would the POE effect her connecting flight? My fellow Decemberites always give me good information, so what are your thoughts or experiences?? I am all ears!!

Oh my gosh I didn't see theirs!!! :bonk: By the way I made this taste dish tonight for dinner, very easy but next time I would consider browning the the meat (I used all pork) before it goes in the first time, the plucking it out, browning it and putting it back in seemed unnecessary?

Ok, here is a "staple" recipe from the Philippines, maybe I can still get something exotic from Zamboanga but this will have to do for now. Besides, when you talk food from the Philippines Adobo chicken/pork must be mentioned at some point!! Here goes:

Adobo Chicken/Pork:
Estimated cooking time: 50 minutes. Adobo is the most popular Filipino dish enjoyed by all classes. Adobo is typically served with steamed white rice.

Adobo Ingredients

1/2 kilo pork cut in cubes + 1/2 kilo chicken, cut into pieces or
choice of either 1 kilo of pork or 1 kilo of chicken
1 head garlic, minced
1/2 yellow onion, diced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 cup vinegar
2 cups of water
1 teaspoon paprika
5 laurel leaves (bay leaves)
4 tablespoons of cooking oil or olive oil
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons water

cooking instructions:
In a big sauce pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of oil then sauté the minced garlic and onions.
Add the pork and chicken to the pan. Add 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, vinegar, paprika and the bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or when meat is tender.
Remove the pork and chicken from the sauce pan and on another pan, heat cooking oil and brown the pork and chicken for a few minutes.
Mix the browned pork and chicken back to the sauce and add cornstarch dissolved in water to thicken.
Add salt and/or pepper if desired
Bring to a boil then simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Serve hot with the adobo gravy and rice.

*** You have the option to add crushed ginger to the onions and garlic when sautéing. Ginger adds a unique flavor to your pork/chicken adobo. :pop:

For July of this year? Thats quite close, I really really wish you luck.

Yes, July of this year and ya know, I still have hope for that date. We are ready to fly into action when NOA#2 arrives (this site has been very helpful) my employer and bank have stated they only require 24 hours to provide I-134 evidence letters, I already have my tax info. Jenie Bee has everything ready too. We are READY!! I also have my congress and senator info ready so at 5 months + 1 day if no NOA #2 they will get the fax, email and phone call. hahahaha
If everything goes poorly, well it's a small wedding plan and we can move the date back. Also we will have something more elaborate in the Philippines in 2012.

We have (or now, had) our venue, caterer, dj, and photographer booked for 11-11-11. Since I can't afford to lose our money with a last second cancellation, and the way things are going at VSC, we have had to move the wedding :( I contacted all our vendors today about a May 4th wedding, so hopefully all will be understanding and let us change our reservation. I mean, its not like 11-11-11 will be a hard day to re-book!

I'm very disappointed that we had to do this, and I'm STILL stressed out that things will get even worse and May 4th won't be late enough either. This is all really getting to me, honestly. I won't likely be back to Atlanta until I have my visa, so I'm feeling very homesick (as it is my home) and beaten down. I know we'll still end up together no matter what, its just so frustrating and so UNFAIR.

I know how you feel, we are planning a July 9th wedding but I have been doing the math, even if the NOA #2 arrives in early May, it will be difficult to pull off. My work no longer allows vacation in August and September, so I am really hoping for the best here..

About a month ago I read a post or two about "nesting" and now as time is getting closer the magical arrival date, the idea is becoming more important to me. I am wanting to hear some ideas about how to make my fiancee feel more at home when she is here. First let me tell you what I have planned so far: Just a week or two before her arrival I am renting a newer nicer apartment or duplex, the ones I am looking at are easy walking distance to my work. Rather than completely outfit the new apartment my thinking is I will move in the basic furnishings and when Jenie Bee arrives we can complete the decorating furnishings together. The idea is to make it more "our home" not her moving into my house. Just a thought? I have made one picture collage of Jenie Bee's family. I will have a jacket for her at the airport (going from The Philippines to Oregon even in the summer will be a real climate change) and a cell phone of course. Oh, I have scouted out one Asian market that has filipino food items, will be looking for more in the Portland area. We will start planning a 2012 vacation to visit her family immediately. So what kind of "nesting" prep for the BIG day are you doing? What are your ideas?? I am all ears!!! Lee :hehe:

And this from USCIS: http://www.uscis.gov...ources/A2en.pdfCan my fiancé(e) work in the United States while on a

fiancé(e) visa?

After admission, your fiancé(e) may immediately apply for permission to work by filing Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, with the USCIS Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence. Any work authorization based on a nonimmigrant fiancé (e) visa would be valid for only 90 days after entry. However, your fiancé (e) would also be eligible to apply for an extended work authorization at the same time as he or she files for permanent residence. In this case, your fiancé(e) would file Form I-765 together with Form I-485 as soon as you marry.

Hi guys, we are getting there!! :clock: A friend of mine has offered to put my lovely Jenie Bee to work in her law office when she arrives and can work. I had not figured on filing a form I-765 for EAD until AOS, however would it be possible for her to get the EAD when she arrives, point of entry would be Portland, OR. Any thoughts on this? Do you think it's just better to wait until AOS and not monkey with the EAD until then??? I have done some research but I am confused.. Lee

I just want to say hello to all of our December family here, several times a day I check this thread for updates and information, it helps keep me company. What a dramatic and scary last couple of days it has been. I woke Friday Morning and heard “earthquake” and “tsunami” and my heart jumped and my eyes glued to the TV news and it only took a few seconds to figure out it was Japan, not near the Philippines. Then an email from my beloved Jenie Bee, everything was ok again, but not really.
It’s a small world, lives are precious and although my kids and I are safe as with the love of my life in the Philippines, my heart goes out to our friends from Japan in harms way, and also their loved ones whom are out of danger but in great pain, praying and hoping for the best.

This is a difficult journey we have chosen, so much time apart, and so many miles, but I always like to make the most of things. When we make it through this “visa journey” and we are together, our bond will be stronger and please Lord, should I EVER for one second take for granted my lovely wife, reminded me of this time and this trial we experienced in the beginning of our life together!

Godspeed to all of us, especially those directly affected by the tragic events we have been watching unfold.

Lee

PS: Keep up the good work December filers!
PSS: Jenie Bee I love you, can’t wait for our video chat date tonight!! :joy:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember Filers

As far as vaccinations I've asked this question many times and I think what I understand is that yes you can get vaccinations ahead of time. Not from the consulate approved medical offices, but from your family doctor, or whatever is available in the country of the beneficiary.

My fiance doesn't have any medical records, so we'll probably end up getting a couple of the more important shots at the "centro de salud" (sort of like a cheap clinic for those with social security)
If you do get shots beforehand make sure to bring those records with you when you go for the interview.

I've also been told though that no shots (or only a few very important shots) are required for a K1 visa.. I'm not exactly sure which it is. But since a K1 visa is not an immigrant visa the vaccination requirements are a little bit different. The beneficiary will still have to get the vaccinations at some point but it can be done in the US.

There is so much conflicting information because I can't seem to find a spot that just has all the info needed. I can only find bits and pieces of info here and there.
But what I've written above is my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

My findings so far is just what you have said, it's a gray area. In the past it seems that vaccinations was not a factor until the AOS but it now seems the powers that be are pushing to move this forward to "before POE" and I can see the logic in that. I just wish they would publish clear instructions on this matter, I don't want my Jenie Bee to get stuck with a bunch of needles only to find at the medical exam they are unacceptable. Nor do any of us want a delay in the arrival of our loved one because of vaccinations. So for now I will just keep the research going and post any new information? By the way, thank you so much!! Lee

Thanks for all of the very cool information December Filers! I hope that I am not going to "beat a dead horse" here but I am confused about the vaccinations. Jenie Bee and me (don't you love that!) we are mostly ready for NOA #2 however in reference to the vaccinations, Jen can not find the record from her childhood, and she will need some on the list anyways. Should she start getting them now or can they be given at the medical exam?
There are a few of you who really contribute to this December Filers thread, thank you again, I know it takes a lot of effort but it's so very helpful!

From Weng and Jet

I just booked Jenie Bee's flight through expedia $853 however I was specifically wanting Delta so that POE could be Portland, OR. I did check with 2 travel agencies in Manila that 0ffer first time immigrant "promo fares" however the best I could do was POE Seattle and just over $620 add to that an $85 flight from Seattle to Portland, baggage fee and Seattle POE vs Portland, no thanks. Besides I have read some very poor reviews that involve change flights and travel dates. I want my Fiancee to have as little BS as possible she has not traveled a lot. Good luck!!

hi all,

My visa application was approved today.

The questions they asked me were:
how did you get to know each other?
Have either of you been married? (I said no. first time. and last time).
Do you have any kids? (no)
What job do you currently have now? Do you have a job in US?
What does you fiance do?
What are your wedding plans?

They focus their attention mainly on the evidence provided.
Being work nerds, we did a powerpoint that showed the timeline (when we first met..date...and showed all the trips we had made).
she used that as her reference mostly..in fact...she stopped me from explaining the different times we had met...

At the end, she said to me, "its nice to have such an easy and straightforward case for a change!".
Your visa has been approved. Please collect your passport and papers a week from now. It is valid for 6 months.

HAHA.

apart from the questioning..what was gruelling was the wait.
a 45mins wait to submit your documents and have a lady check it. she also asked me questions (see above)
a 2hour wait to meet the officer where she asked more detailed questions.
the interview was weird...it was a room full of people waiting (for immigrant and non-immigrant visas)...you have to stand at the window and talk to them.
I thought it would be a private room..with nice "comfy chairs"
i saw a lot of people tip toe-ing....and you also hear a lot of people's stories (everyone hears all your answers!)

i saw a couple get turned down at the first lady because the guy couldnt get his wedding date right, and some other issues...she was quite hard on the questioning.

Congratz!!! Also nice work on your prep for the interview, super organized!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDECEMBERITE FAMILY 2010 Part 2

Sorry I haven't been around for a while...not sure I was even missed haha...but Byron dumped me last Saturday. He said the fights were too much, and yeah there were plenty. But only because of the stress of distance. Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck, and happiness in your marriages! This forum was such a great support for me!

Wow, that is really sad, so sorry!!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Congratulations Rexasaurus!!!!!!!! See and you were worried she wouldn't be here for your July wedding!

Love,
Tita Mari

After the RFE we moved the wedding date until September 10th, Jenie Bee will arrive at POE (Portland) Saturday August 13th. This will make for a relaxing non-rushed event. This also will allow Jenie Bee to do more of the wedding planning (seriously would you want Rex planning your wedding?) I have to say that when Jenie Bee called I was fearing the worst, she works from 8:00 PM to 5:30 AM and her request for the night off was denied so after work she had to rush to the Embassy (it's 30 mins to an hour from her work). When she called her voice sounded so tired, yep worst case scenario for sure, then came the giggling probably due to I had just fallen hard into a surprise trap!! :bonk: The interview sounded odd, no smiling, no joking, and the lions share of the questions revolved around my previous marriage, dates, kids, etc.. Oh well, visa approved, flight secured, all is good. Next week I will get serious about working on AOS...
