IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2013 Interviews

Welcome to the ongoing Case Complete to Interview monthly thread.

We will be building hopefully monthly FAQ and other tidbits that may be useful to you.

Be sure to let us know if there?s something you would like to see.

FAQ

I just called and got Case Complete how long does it take to get the email as confirmation?

Well it has been taking 5 to 7 days to get case complete email from the date they Case Complete.

How long after Case Complete will I get an interview?

Okay this is the BIG mystery of NVC. How it usually goes is end of the month and first week of month they start scheduling for interviews for the that upcoming month. Since January they have been pretty consistent starting about the last 2 days of the month and finishing that following first week of next  month

Do I have to call for my interview date?

NVC has improved greatly since March. The interview letter now comes day of schedule. So call if you want its up to you.

I know someone who got interview in the middle of the month. How is that possible?

Usually when you see someone pop up with an interview outside the bunch its usually the result of a cancellation or the embassy opening up a slot. Just because scheduling stops doesn't mean they filled up all slots. They may have more slots than appointments which is good. So someone gets case complete and immediately they get an interview. It happens.

Remember every embassy has its own slots and schedule. Some like El Salvador are very busy with a long waiting list. Some like Yemen, well it may be a few months to get in. Iceland you get interview immediately scheduled after case Complete.

I need to change our interview date what do I do?

Once you receive your interview date track your casefile. Call NVC ask when your casefile left than you can follow the DHL instructions to embassy. The contact your embassy (email is best) and ask to be rescheduled later, earlier just ask.

Just to remind everyone to revisit the Post #1 and Post #2 of the NVC Filers thread.

dwheels76,

Mahalo for keeping these threads going.  I for one really appreciate all the effort you put in here.  God Bless you and yours.  Let's all pray for things to get started beginning Monday.  Aloka Ke Akua

My interview would be on Monday June 09, 2014 at USEM Manila. Now we have a problem. On the P4 that the NVC sent me Financial Evidence is marked as "I". NVC told me I need to re-submit I-864 of my hubby and our joint sponsor. Only 1 page has a minimal error but NVC told me I need to re-submit all the corrected I-864 forms to the Consul during the interview. My husband mailed the corrected I-864 forms last May 06, 2014 and until now the forms didn't come yet. He mailed them through USPS. We're worried because its more than 3 weeks now and the documents are not still around. I've been checking them through our local post office here but still they're not there. 5 days to go before the interview and the papers are not yet around. We're afraid that they are lost huhu. Our joint sponsor is in Hawaii now for a vacation, he'll be back on June 10 but my interview date has already pass then.

Please help us what to do. Thanks guys.

Have him IMMEDIATELY FedEx you another set of the documents!  Why in the world would anyone mess around with the post office with something absolutely mission-critical?

I am always astonished by this sort of thing.  I mean, really?  Isn't there enough that can go wrong without inviting problems?

He can't send a new set of documents.  The joint sponsor is on vacation in Hawaii and will not be back until after the interview is past.  Let's try to be a little more feeling for the OP.  Sure anyone can make a mistake but why be so mean about it?  Good luck to the original poster.  I hope it all works out for you guys in the end.  God Bless

I agree with you.  I sent birthday cards to the Philippines that have yet to be delivered, that was in 1986.

I have a friend here on Maui that sends letters via USPS mail but he uses 8 1/2 x 11" paper and just tapes it shut, leaving the ends open so the corrupt mailman in the Philippines can see there is no money inside.  He says most of his letters get through now except once in a while the mailman just gets pissed off and tosses a letter every now and then becasue the guys has out-smarted him.  hahaha

I'm afaraid you are out of luck.  Unless the papers arrive before your interview they are most likely lost.  I sent a complete set of all documents to my wife 2 months before her interview via USPS and they never arrived to her in Cebu.  I had made several sets of documents complete so I just sent another set via FEDEX and they got there in 5 or 6 business days.  Cost was about 80 dollars US but worth it.  The first envelope was returned to my address in Hawaii 3 months after my wife arrived here and we laughed.  It took them 5 months to get the envelope from Cebu to Hawaii.  I called the USPS and they explained that once the package reached Manila the package is out of the hands of the US Government and they have no control over it.  Which was true because of course someone in the Philippoines post office had opened it and gone thru it and tried to find money but there was none.  I understand this happens all the time there.  So never send anything via USPS either to or from the Philippines.

Sorry if my last post is confusing, i went to https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/ to schedule my interview and got confirmation by email. Because if this work, that's a good news for everybody, we don't have to call or wait the NVC/Consulate to schedule an interview for us!

If you are an IR1/CR1 then you cannot make your own appointment as far as I understand.  I tried that also and found out later that NVC MUST SCHEDULE the appointment.. I had actually scheduled my appointment the way you did but was told that I could not do that.  So CALL NVC. They will tell you when your appointment is set for if it is already set.  They should give you the date and time of your appointment, then cancel the one you made online to avoid confusion.  ALOHA KE AKUA

I can tell you from experience, that after so much waiting... even a week or a month seems like an eternity. I understand how your wife feels, because it really isnt easy to just sit and wait. But just let her know that it feels just as bad for you as it does for her. Dont worry about that, its just the jitters that sometimes takes the best of us. Just a little longer, and this will all pass. Whats a year when you will spend a lifetime together? It'll make for a very nice fairy-taleesque story to tell your grandkids one day! :-)

Keep Smilin!

Thalita

Thalita,  Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I need them and so does my wife.  I am at whits end.  My wife is in danger every day that she stays in Philippines as her cousin that raised her has mental issues and has threatened on more than one occasion to kill her.  No Police reports made because they don't report their family members, even if they make death threats. Tried to get expedite but denied.  I am so worried about my wife.  I have her in hiding now...no one knows where she is for her own safety.  But anyway thanks so much for the encouragement. I just hope I don't lose her before this ends. We are so close but.....

I am constantly checking my email but I think I will not receive an email until 7-10 days after the appointment has been set?  So I call NVC at least twice a day. I have also lost my mind. My wife is ready to give up on me.  It is so stressful I fear she will change her mind and not come with me after all.  I hate this waiting....it's killing me!  None of this makes any sense.  Talk about the most inefficient operation I have ever seen....

I have no idea...

Its amazing how overwhelming this all is.

If I were to tell you how many times a day I refresh my email you'd probably think I lost my mind. Which I probably have.

Still nothing here... Just nagged my husband to call and they said, almost robotically: " Interviews are scheduled in the beginning of the month and there arent any slots for June "

I wonder how many times a day these people must get the same type of phone call...

Hoping for a better tomorrow,

Thalita

Not sure why NVC keeps saying there are no appointments left for June. I just got off the interview appointment site (USTRAVELDOCS) and there are 15 interview dates with openings as of 10 minutes ago for June and even more for July, etc...This could potentially mean there are dozens or more appointments for June.  So what gives??  Ae all of these June spots reserved for K-1'ers only?  I just does not make sense to me.

Of course I called NVC at 12:30 a.m. Hawaii time last night.  Seems I wake up every night at 12:30... No appointment yet. I asked if a phone call to them would give me information before I get the confirmation by email.  The agent would not answer that question.  I mean every step of the way from USCIS thru NVC I have called and gotten updates 7-10 days before I ever receive the email.  Is this true on this final step?  Does anyone know or should I just wait for the email now?  This is really getting difficult.  It appears my spouse is on a self destruct mode right now and I am not sure how long I can get her to hold on.  Maybe she is getting scared because we are so close?  I don't know but it is getting VERY DIFFICULT.

Anybody check emails or call NVC. I feel some interviews being scheduled. Come ya'll let's get this party started.dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionForm I-751 Rejected! 4 days early. :-(

I don't know what to say but I am irritated! protest6wz.gif   My Green Card is expiring on June 11th of this year and they received my application the 7th of March. The rejection letter dated 11th of March and I received it  today the 13th and it says I filed too early. It's very close to 90 window. Any advice on what to do now? I was thinking to call but I don't know if it's very good idea. Any inputs will be appreciated. idea9dv.gif  Thank You!

"Very close" does not cut it.  The 90 day rule is hard and fast.  You cannot file prior to the 90 days.  Re-file within the 90 day period.  Follow the guides...read, read, read...

My drivers license officially expires tomorrow, I've not received any confirmation no NOA1 or hint that my packages has been received. The check hasn't been cashed and as of tomorrow I don't really know what i'm going to do as I need to drive for work. Do I have options here? Can I contact someone? Can I even check that it was received? Worse even what if it wasn't? Vermont has it. I'm worried.

This might be a stupid question but can't you renew your drivers license using the current drivers license?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionQuestions About I-751 filing

Wrong.  1 Day matters.  You should not have sent it before the 90 day window opened up.  They will accept delivery of the envelope and once they get around to opening it they will pack it back up and send it back to you eventually.  This will needlessly tie up your ROC.  Sorry to say but I think you jumped the gun by just 4 or 5 days.  But lets see, hopefully I am wrong or if you are really lucky the Post Office screws up and loses the package and it gets delivered after the 15th.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMade Typo Error on DS-230

Buried somewhere at VJ, is a DS-230 hint - have 4 signed but blank DS-230s in yer hand during NVC document intake.

Darnell,  I wish I had read that hint earlier but I have learned much doing this.  If I had to do this all over again I would have had my spouse sign at least 2 blank documents of each and every form that was to be submitted, just as backups.  That would have saved us a week or 10 days for sure. Aloha

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMade Typo Error on DS-230

Boy am I depressed.  I made a typo on our form DS-230, question 30. Therefore the date of my wifes residency is incorrect. NVC now explains that they do not want any information as to my wifes residency going back before her 16th birthday.  NOW they tell me to use her birth date (month and year only) until present, nothing else. I wish I understood this from the beginning.  Of course it would not have mattered because I typed 2019 instead of 2009. She has lived in Cebu all of her life.  My typo said 08/2019 to present. Should have been 08/2009.  Everything else checked out ok per NVC. They will not accept a scanned or faxed document? This means I have to have my wife fill out and print out yet another form and mail it to me via FedEx.  Just the wasted time in FedEx will hold things up for an additional week.  Then NVC need 20 days to accept the new paper?  Does anyone know if there is a way to get NVC to accept a scanned and emailed or faxed document? The operator there twll me it must be an original signature. We were so close and now I made a stupid frickin' mistake. I am so depressed. Anyone out there got any suggestions? Besides alcohol of course....I don't drink.

Okay so we sent in the newly corrected DS-230. Of course it has been delivered by USPS EXPRESS MAIL. It's been sitting at NVC for 10 days. I call very day and they apparently have not opened the envelope yet.  This was all they needed due to a typo. Any idea once they open the envelope before they say case complete? Then how far out is US Embassy appointment in Manila?  I am waiting and it just takes so long.

Wow thanks for that info.  So I guess no need for me to call NVC daily any more?  Should just wait until the 8th of June before I resume calling them?  I work for the government myself and I just don't understand how USCIS and NVC operate.  It would just make so much more sense for the agent that last looked at our file and declared CASE COMPLETE to have just gotten on the phone and called USEM to set the appointment....but who am I??  hahahaha  Thanks for the info...Mahalo, Aloha and Salamat!

So excited, can't sleep. Wife's interview is tomorrow morning in Manila. We are together again!  We just spent a few days with her family in Cebu saying goodbye.....a great time was had by all.  Wife is sleeping....I am not.  I keep checking the interview appointment letter to make sure it is not this morning.  Paranoia is setting in I fear, hahaha.  It's been a long and arduous process and hopefully it all comes together tomorrow.  The appointment letter list several items but the codes next to the items indicate that all of the required docum ents have already been received and accepted.  Marriage certificate, birth certificates,  etc...  We have a complete set of the entire application with us plus a copy of each and every document, plus original passports, ID's, etc....  Why do I fear that we are missing something?  I have read others talking about receiving a few letters after the appointment letter???  All we received was the appointment letter via email with the list of all docs that have been submitted and accepted, etc...  Am I missing somwthing here?  Just wanna make sure we have everything we need because appointment is set for 6:15 a.m. so we will be heading out of hotel at 4:00 a.m. I guess to line up?  Any suggestions???  Aloha Ke Akua

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsYOUR SON IS ALMOST TWICE AS OLD AS YOUR NEW WIFE? Congratulations, Your Visa Is Approved!

Series of questions directed at me, the USC Petitioner from the US Embassy Counsel at the interview in Manila on July 9, 2013.

1.)  "HAVE YOU BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED?"  My reply, YES

2.)   "DO YOU HAVE ANY CHILDREN FROM YOUR PREVIOUS MARRIAGE?"  My reply, YES.

3.)  "HOW OLD ARE YOUR CHILDREN FROM YOUR FIRST MARRIAGE?"  My answer, 25, 30 & 36.

4.)  "SO YOUR NEW WIFE IS NEARLY HALF THE AGE OF YOUR OLDEST SON?" (My wife is 19)  My reply, YES.

A 10 second pause and her next words to my wife and I, "CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR VISA IS APPROVED."

So I guess those that told me that age does not seem to matter were correct.  (At least in the Philippines.)

Thank GOD for HE is good all the time!
