PhilippinesNiblet just got hitched to his Pinay!!

ok so she MAY be out of status for a month or so,,will this impact receiving her temp work/travel papers

after I file AOS?

1.) Actually I had no earthly idea the AOS cost so much,,what a complete rip off,,,

it should be free,, 2.) I pay taxes,,,and I'm a veteran.

I will come up with the cash next month so uncle sugar will have to wait.

1.) Planning, planning, planning?

2.) So who should pay for it, me?  I pay taxes too...

PhilippinesNiblet just got hitched to his Pinay!!

well, since he has a clear title on the truck,
it's easy to get a title loan for up to 50K.

But that's a side issue.

Who has time to study, with a woman ruling his life, taking over the house, and re-arranging the toiletries?

Oh yes, the re-arranging of toiletries....  hahahaha  I can actually find things now when I need them.

headbonk.gif   Ouch!!

OH MY GOD.

YOU MADE $125,000. YOU PAID $68,000 CASH FOR A TRUCK. YET YOU CAN'T COME UP WITH $1,100 TO MAKE YOUR WIFE LEGAL? #######????

Guess having the truck was more important than having the wife live securely in the US.

My guess is he's a construction worker or contractor.  Probably needed the truck for his business.

I am biting my tongue so hard it hurts right now!!  I just gotta shut up or I'll be thread-banned again.  ouch!!

PhilippinesNiblet just got hitched to his Pinay!!

I set aside the AOS fee prior to my fiancee (now wife) arriving. I also did the same thing for the ROC fee. Should the OP decide to have children, I suggest budgeting for that as well. My wife and I recently had a baby earlier this year, and putting a budget in place helps. It's also what responsible people do.

Excellent!!

oh yes I married within the 90 day window,, so im good there,,,
I thought you had to file the change of status within the 90 days as well,,,

as far as the planning comment,,,, I just bought a 68 thousand dollar pickup truck ....with cash
so Im tapped out for a month or 2

What kind of planning did you do?  No money?  90 days expired? [/quote

yeah my bad I grossed 125 this year,,,,, guess I, ll try to do better next year

Yeah, you really planned well.  You brag about making 125K this year and buying a 68K truck with cash.  Yet you knew you were going to get married and would need money to complete the process.  A mere 1100 dollars?  You just proved to me and everyone else here that you lacked any kind of planning whatsoever.  I hope you're not a financial adviser.

An old farmer friend of mine taught me a lesson once...you should write this on your refrigerator:

"It ain't what you make, it's what you got left over that counts."

Good luck

PhilippinesPolice Clearances NBI AND Barangay Clearances??
Okay my spouse has her NBI clearance. I keep reading in the visa requirements that Police Clearances are needed. Does this apply to Philippines? She previously had Barangay clearances, do we need to submit these also?? Just got our IV bill email and wanted to make sure they do not need Barangay clearances. (I think we had to obtain those for her to get her passport.) Anyone know the answer to this one?

Philippinesannulment needed (split topic)

Hi
Im new to site, and we are just starting our journey only to find out my fiance needs an anullment. Her marriage was done at age 18 with no parents present but on certificate says solemized? Any ideas

You should start your own thread.  But the answer is ANNULMENT. 1-2 years or more.  The more bribes you pay the faster it can happen.  There is no such thing as divorce in Philippines.  We can all thank the Catholics for that one...hahahaha

PhilippinesReport of Marriage in Los Angeles Philippine Consulate

Things are more fun .. in the Philippines ;)

Yes, but thank God my wife is here with me in US now.  If one just knew ahead of time who to bribe the whole thing could get done sooner.  I have never seen a more corrupt government than the Philippines.  Of course if you know your way around that can be a great benefit...    hahaha

PhilippinesReport of Marriage in Los Angeles Philippine Consulate

We are talking Philippines government requirements, not DOS,  this is for Report of Marriage to the Philippines.

Whoops!  I stand corrected.  I thought all the photos were the same size.  But of course as I know the Philippines, they have all of their own ridiculous requirements.  Have you ever noticed that their relular size and legal size paper is different in size than ours?   Metric, I guess...

PhilippinesReport of Marriage in Los Angeles Philippine Consulate

Hi,

Were your photos 2x2  in size? Or did CVS give you 1.77 in x 1.37 in for each photo?  I just want to make sure since most of the passport photos they do in photo centers are 2x2 in size while the requirement for the Report of Marriage is 1.77 in x 1.37 in with white background as stated in the Los Angeles Philippine Consulate website.  Thanks for the reply!

Here is the link for the State Department location that gives you all the details.  You will see that the photo overall is 2" by 2".  Just make sure when you go to CVS you tell them the photo is for a PASSPORT.  You should be fine.  http://travel.state....n-template.html

God Bless

PhilippinesReport of Marriage in Los Angeles Philippine Consulate

Hi,

To those who did the Report of Marriage in the Philippine Consulate located in Los Angeles, one of the requirements was:

Four (4) identical colored photographs of the husband and the wife, 1.77 in x 1.37 in, plain white background, taken within six months before the date of application.

Where did you have your photos taken for the passport sized photos with white background for both husband and wife?  Will they take it inside the Consulate or is there a Walgreens/CVS/Walmart photo center type that you had the pictures taken?  Feel free to comment here.  Thanks for your time!

Regards,

Monet

You can have them taken anywhere.  Just have several copies.  For some reason they always want more and they all have to be the exact pose, background, etc.  I did mine at CVS.  It was inexpensive and fast.  Good luck and God Bless.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGuess What?!?

Who cares about Age Difference? Love is such a beautiful thing. If you find True Love and manage to hold on to it, then count yourself not just lucky, but truly blessed. I'm 29 and my fiancé is 64. We have met twice before and booked to meet again in July. We have tons of photos and we're very much in love with each other. He is my love and joy and the light of my life. I miss him dearly and I'm very impatient to begin our lives together under one roof smile.png So happy that things are going well for you. By the way my intended husband is from Kailua Kona. Hawaii seems like paradise smile.png

Wow that's cool.  Your age difference is almost exactly the same as ours.  And you are right age makes no difference.  My wife's family is so happy for her.  I met her online on a dating site.  There was something about her that just drew me in.  After a couple of months chatting I decided to visit her.  I surprised her and arrived the night before my scheduled arrival.  So I showed up at her apartment that she shared with her sister and the security guard went to call her, it was 11:30 at night. She lived in a woman's only dorm.  She came out and saw me, screamed and ran back into the apartment. I could hear her screaming to her sister that I was there.  After a few minutes her sister came out and also screamed, gave me a big hug and ran back into the apartment to get her sister.  A few minutes later my beautiful Zoila came out and I saw her close up for the first time.  She was so beautiful.  Her eyes told me everything I needed to know.  She is just 4'9" (I am 5'11").  She approached me, grabbed my arm and looked up at me with those big beautiful brown eyes.  I melted.  I knew right away that this was real and I knew she was the girl I had always dreamed of.  Well the rest just came together.  Three days later I proposed to her at a roof-top restaurant.  I had secretly coordinated with her sister to find a venue, a video crew, a photographer and a six member singing group.  I had intended on proposing to her if things went well and as such I had brought an engagement ring along with me.  Zoila and I were seated in the restaurant and after we ordered our dinner I got up to go to the CR.  Just as I did this her sister walked in and the singing group got up and approached our table and began singing "I want to marry you" by Bruno Mars.  By this time Zoila is freaking out, now she knows something is going on.  After a few minutes I returned with a large bouquet of flowers and got down on one knee and proposed.  Thank God she said yes!  (You can watch the video and many others, including our Lapu Lapu wedding on YouTube if you like.  Just search for David Olsten.)   Oh and by the way.  I was so convinced that Zoila was the girl for me that I arranged to hold a wedding just 4 days later.  About 85 family members attended.  We had a feast and it was amazing.

So you are right, love knows no age.  If you watch the videos you will see that we adore each other.  Thank GOD for these blessings.  And the best blessings for you and your fiance.    ALOHA KE AKUA

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGuess What?!?

My soon to be husband is also from Hawaii and just like yourself there is an age difference between us. Do you think this would be an issue at the interview. :\

Not so sure about Trinidad and Tobago as far as age difference goes.  Although our situation is a little different from yours in that we were married last year in Philippines.  We had to go to the US Embassy in Manila and the officer there wanted to see my wife's birth certificate.  He just wanted to make sure she was 18.  He was very nice.  We ran back to the hotel and got her birth certificate and returned to embassy.  He looked at her birth certificate and said no problem here, it's fine.  By the way my wife is 19, I was 55 at the time of our marriage.  I know what many are thinking but I believe she loves me just as much as I love her.  She as well as myself believe that GOD brought the two of us together.  There were just too many coincidences and too many roadblocks that we both faced that were cleared as we walked along together.  It was amazing!  Everything just fell into place.  It was nothing short of miraculous.

I see you guys are doing a fiance visa.  We have wedding photos with her entire family, marriage certificate, and so much documentation to back up the fact that we have a legitimate relationship/marriage.  I have visited her twice already and plan on meeting her and attending the embassy interview with her.  I think most important for the two of you is have you met in person within the last two years?  Do you have photos together in landmark type places that are easily recognizable as being in Trinidad and Tobago?  You just need to prove that you have a legitimate relationship as far as I know.  Good luck and God Speed.  Aloha and Mahalo    P.S. Is your husband on the island of Maui by any chance?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow much does an RFE delay your case?

We also just got a notice that they also need RFE from us..I am happy though because at least they have touched our papers and that give us hope....all we have to do is to make sure to submit the correct RFE..I have seen some have been approved after 3-4 days they sent their RFE's...so goodluck to us..:-)

Good luck to you both. They received my corrected form 14 days ago. It sits in their mail room, unopened apparently. I hope the two of you are luckier than we are.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow much does an RFE delay your case?

Hey guys.. we got notified by email of an RFE heading our way in the mail... I have a feeling it may be because my passport photo doesn't meet requirements (even though I had it taken in the US! - I was reassured by the girl in Walgreens that it would be fine. Oh well). But anyway, on the email it says that a "new processing period" will begin after we send the requested documents.. Does this mean we are back to the bottom of the pile?? I know we are lucky in that we are only 5 months into our wait, compared to others who have been waiting way beyond the average processing times, but I really don't think I could bear another 5 month wait or longer sad.png

We got one for a typo.  I sent in the corrected from ds-230 11 days ago. I believe what happrens is they just dont get aroud to opening their mail for 2 or 3 weeks. But when you call they should be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with your file and you can get started on the correction right away. No need to wait for the snail mail. I FedEx'e our form and had it back in their mailroom within days. Now it just sits waiting for someone to open it. I know it really sucks. I miss my wife so much. Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe wait is driving me insane!!

I'm not a K-1, I'm a CR-1 but patience is something that wi be tested. I kinda think that they weed people out that way also.I have been apart from my wife for a year and two months with this process. And it looks like i still have a month or two to go. You have to find things to do to distract u from thinking of this process. If u keep busy it will help time move faster.

P & K is right!  I spend hours and hours just reading on VJ.  It has really helped me thru this process.  Keeps me from going insane.  And once in a while I can help someone out thru this process by answering a question for them and that feels really good.  Thank God for VisaJourney and the people here.  ALOHA KE AKUA

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports9 months after NOA2...FINALLY got the visa

It has been quite a long road.  I am happy to report that our visa was approved.  I flew to Manila to be with Michelle during the interview.  We had our embassy interview on Monday and it went well.  We were out of the embassy by 11:00 AM.  We were very over prepared because they never asked for any photos, chat logs, proof of visits...NOTHING.  However it was a bit scary when the Consular Officer told me to go sit down in the waiting area while he talked to Michelle alone.  5 minutes later, she came back with a big smile on her face!

Sorry that our case messes up the average time from NOA2 to Approval :-(  We had to go through the 8 month DOT process after a positive sputum test.  Thank God that is over, Michelle is well, and we are flying to California the end of next week.

Michelle and Jeff

Wow!  Great news!  Congratulations to you both!  GOD is good all the time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Approved .. Woohoo

Thank you VJ member who commented and advised me so far ! I just want to thank you and give some review of my experience.

I Arrived at the Embassy 7:30 but the interview began at 11:00 ( I am the last one )
Consular Officer asked me below questions:
How did u met each other ?
How long u have been in relationship ?
Do you love your fiancée ?
What does your fiancée's name ? And nickname?
What does he do ?
Where does he live?
When did you decide to have an engagement ?
Did you have any engagement party ?
How did you continue your relationship ? Cuz this is quite long ! (p.s we are in relationship for almost 8 years )
Did you or your fiancée get marry before?
Did you or your fiancée have any children ?
Would you like to work in U.S if possible ?
What is you plan if visa granted ?

That's it ! And everything went very well within 7 mins only.
And consular officer liked our invitation card alot ! He asked me where did I made it ? Can I take take a picture of it etc.. ? He said he want to make his own invitation card same as mine smile.png

Then a consular officer wrote me the date and time to pick up my visa ! And he blessed us to have a happy & wonderful life in America together !

Good luck to all who are waiting ! You will deserve your luck soon !

Congratulations.  What a great day for you both.  Now the real journey begins.  GOD bless you all.

Aloha Ke Akua
