I started laughing so hard when I read that comment! That character will never die, shes like a cockroach! Even though she looks like a hamster haha

And you made me laugh right back! A cockroach!

Yes Gail seems to be indestructible. Everyone seems to try and kill her but she just won't die.

I love that Rita is still there! It's kinda nice that even though I have not seen the show for 5-ish years, so many characters are familiar.

I am having a cup of Barry's tea and a digestive bikkie and watching :)

I'm watching Eastenders. It's like a revolving door for characters. New ones every week.

The medical will accept a photocopy.

Do you need to take a police certificate to the medical now? Why?

I didn't have to 3 years ago.

Of course i am NOT advocating him to be dishonest!
When will he have a chance to tell them? They never asked my husband if he had old/expired/expunged crimes.

United KingdomPolice certificate with 'no live trace' for abh & stealing

If your police certificate says no live trace then you're clear.

No LIVE trace means there are old crimes that have expired. The USCIS want to know about every crime, expired or active. You have to be honest and tell them about everything. It's up to them to decide if it's relevant or not.

United KingdomShould I learn to drive before I go or after?!

I've wondered this myself. What if you already have a UK licence? Do you have to re-test/take lessons over in the US or can it be transferred?

You have to take the permit and road test. The UK license is not recognized here.

Are co-sponsors allowed if the main petitioner's income is pretty much nothing? Obviously she'd find a job ASAP after we went back, but in the event that she couldn't find one and was technically unemployed, would a co-sponsor still allow us to be approved?

I don't think it matters as long as the minimum requirement is covered.

Yes co-sponsors are allowed. It's the only way a lot of people can meet the requirements.

I don't see any reason why your plan wouldn't work. I think there are couples on here who have done it that way. Good luck.

It would be ok for her to visit the UK for up to 6 months at a time but if she did and she wasn't working would she still be able to prove she has enough income for the AOS?

Do they check in the blood test at the medical for immunities or would it stand out?

As far as I know the blood is only for an AIDS test. You have to sign a form to give them permission to do it.

United KingdomMedical questions

Tempted to get the vaccine, thinking what if I get shingles when I'm older and then they question why if I've had the vaccine or whatever.

If someone were to tell the doctor that their mother told them they had chicken pox as a child, and for some strange reason the US government decided that in just this one single case out of the millions upon millions they have dealt with in every country in the world, that they were going to get the FBI or whoever to check this out and found out that said person had not had chicken pox, then obviously the person's mother got the chicken pox case confused with their sibling. Easy mistake to make.
scotinmassMaleScotland2013-02-18 18:17:00
United KingdomMedical questions
As far as I remember they never ask you anywhere for your doctor's details so there is no way they can check up on you and I'm sure they don't care enough to even if they could. They want their easy steady income for having the monopoly on medicals in the UK. If you don't tell them something they'll never know. When they ask "have you had chicken pox?" you reply "yes when I was 6" and they check the box. You did have chicken pox. You're not lying. At least you're pretty sure you did but you were only 6 so memories aren't always accurate!

You should never lie to immigration officers but these people aren't immigration officers. They aren't even real doctors anymore. They're people who sold out for an easy buck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresForeign Spouse remaining in USA during immigration

I was wondering if there was any type of visa where I don't have to be separated from my fiance / future husband during the process of immigration.

Hypothetically, what if I (Canadian) unexpectedly ended up getting married to my fiance while visiting the US on a travelers visa. Is there any way I could stay in the country while the paperwork is being completed?

Thanks

If there was such a visa we all would have used it instead of spending almost a year apart!

Always take the legal route even if it sucks.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTraveling to UK after US Citizenship
You must use your US passport to leave the US. You can use your UK passport to enter the UK in which case you wouldn't have to fill out a landing card so you don't have to list your nationality. When you leave the UK to fly back to the US you'd have to use your US passport because you will have filled out the Advanced Passenger Information and will have used your US passport so if you try to leave on another passport the details won't match and they'll not let you board the plane. When you enter the US you must use the US passport.

You could however just us the US passport to enter the UK too in which case you'd put your nationality as US.

Did your lawyer send in Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance with your application? If not, then have your lawyer do a follow-up at no charge to you, because she obviously is incompetent.

I don't get why people waste money on lawyers. From what I've read on here it seems to take longer with a lawyer. They drag it out to get more money.

I don't have a problem with the moral issue. It's the legal implications that worry me. I will say the words but not mean them. I thought that lying under oath would be considered a huge crime in the US. I know that there are dual US citizens with other countries - I am one - a dual Canadian and American citizen - but the US does not recognize my Canadian citizenship. As far as the US is concerned I am no longer a Canadian and only an American citizen - officially, the other doesn't count anymore. I am not allowed to use my Canadian passport to enter the US although I am allowed to use my US passport to enter Canada. Canada recognizes both my citizenships; the US only recognizes my American citizenship. The US basically turns a blind eye to dual citizenship not because they accept it but because legally there is nothing they can do about it. They know there are Americans who have citizenship with other countries but as far as the US is concerned their citizenship is American. The US doesn't recognize them officially as citizens of the other country although they realize that the individual does have divided loyalties and allegiance - they just basically pretend it isn't there by not addressing the issue.

I don't really watch it but it is funny and when Family Guy or the Simpsons makes fun of us I laugh. It is basically stereotypes taken to the extreme so you kind of have to laugh.

I kinda thought Canadians would see it that way. It's nice when people aren't all uptight and can laugh at themselves. Us Scots poke fun at ourselves all the time. I don't even mind when the English do it (as long as it's actually funny).

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavits necessary for I751?
No they are not necessary. I think they are only needed if you don't have any other evidence. We sent financial evidence. Joint bank accounts, joint deeds, joint car and health insurance etc. A few photos and details of flights we have taken together over the last 2 years. The NOA 1 gives you a one year extension on your greencard (while they process it) and it asks that if you have not already done so to send in documents. It gives a list of financial documents and does not mention affidavits. So I take that to mean they don't really want them.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionExtension Letter Expiration

Can somebody clarify the extension letter expiry date to me?
The USCIS 1-800 numbers says it expires 1 year from the DATE of the letter.
when i tried to have the OKC office stamp my passport with an I-551 last month they wouldn't saying the expiration of the letter is one year from my green card.
In our custody papers, my ex has a legal right to see our daughter during the summer. She will be heading out of country in two weeks. I have made an infopass appt as our extension letter expires July 5.
My husband seems to think she will be okay coming back into the US with an expired extension letter. I don't want to do this- I don't trust USCIS.
I have made another Infopass appt for this week. I am going to bring extension letter, passport, flight itinerary and ask again for the stamp.
Has anyone had any issues getting this stamp?

The 1 year extension is from the date your green card expires.
