NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!

Pete finally got an interview for Jan. 9th but we wanted to try for something before CHRISTMAS. We called and got a code number and I emailed and within 24 hours I got an email back with his new interview date of DECEMBER 9!!!!!

I didn't even know you could get your interview date moved up until I read it on here. We're going to be practicing the questions and he's going to be getting all the documents in order -- F-A-S-T. Thanks for all the help along the way, it's been since mid-February when we filed and said good bye. This is exciting and scary at the same time.

I just heard from my congressman's office that Pete's interview will be January 9th at 9am. (unless we can get it sooner so he can be here for Christmas.) He should receive the letter in a few days telling him that it's the 9th.

I never thought I'd get to say this but my PETE may be next in line. I got an email from the consulate that he will be receiving his interview date and time "shortly." I hardly dare to believe it.

We're STILL waiting. crying.gif

I think I have my timeline messed up on here but we started in Feb 2008, he was given the wrong papers for the police report -- took two months to get that straightened out, he got the medical in mid August (delayed a little bit because he was sent to his own doctor for a back up check on the blood pressure), but on Sept. 9th he sent his checklist and it was received and signed for by London on August 12th.

He spoke many times with a man in the embassy who said everything was received and okay -- just wait for the interview date. Nothing since then and that line doesn't lead to that nice man anymore, it leads to the helpline.

He spoke with the helpline last week -- they had no record of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've emailed the embassy with the code they gave him -- nothing back from them. Maybe HE has to be the one to do the emailing, not ME? Would that make any difference? It's been one week.

Somebody can add us to the still waiting list if they want to. I hope to not be there for very long. I wish we didn't need such a list.

Thank you SO much! Knowing him, he'll hate to pay anything to store things. But he'll have to have at least his watch and phone with him. I'll pass your information along and again, knowing him, he'll try to figure out a way to avoid this. star_smile.gif

I've seen the answer somewhere but -- what is he NOT allowed to take to the interview? No phone, no watch, no what else? Does he have to PAY to put those things into security?

Thanks, he's wondering.

Thank you for your answers. I couldn't believe it when he said Manchester told him he could go there since everyone else has to travel to London. I'm going to get after him to delve deeper into this subject and get to the bottom of it. He's the most stubborn man on earth though ohmy.gif but I'll get him to get a true answer. I'll let you people know.

I have a question.

My UK fiance says his interview is going to be in MANCHESTER, not LONDON!!!!!

Is this for real? Can he really get his interview and all in Manchester? He says he called the American consulate in Manchester and asked, they called him back and they said OK. It's just a short bus trip for him rather than the ordeal of going down to London.

Is it really all right to do it this way? I don't want any mistakes -- we just got out NOA2 and are waiting to hear from London.

It could be possible, but I never heard of it happening before. Even people who live in Northern Ireland have to travel to London for their interview. I'd double check to be on the safe side if it were me.

Please keep us updated on this one Lois, I'd be very interested to hear the outcome.

Ha, thats so funny. I'm just a nosey person so whenever an immigrant visa number was called I looked to see who was going. You were the only young one that got up when a number was called so I assumed it had to be you. We were literally sat 7 seats apart. You literally looked as terrified as me laughing.gif

Haha - I looked as well cause I was thinking of you but I had no idea what you looked like or I would have walked over and we could have panicked together!!! What time was yours?

My queuing time was 9.30. Got into the building about 9.45. Then my number (5018) got called round about 10.30ish. I should have guessed it was you on the end cos everyone else in the embassy looked relaxed....apart from those who were called up for immigrant visas laughing.gif
Did you have your medical soon afterwards? I had to wait round til 2.30....though made the big error of turning up at the Knightsbridge doctors at 2.10 when the medical is blatantly not there, hence a mad dash back up to bond street ensued.

Oh you were the time slot after me!! I was so surprised to see so many relaxed people as well!!! I was cacking myself!!!!

I had my medical the day before so I didn't have that to worry about - that was worse than the interview though I was less nervous about it!! Did you have the scary Asian lady doctor?!

A lot of useful information can be found in this thread: Shipping. It also has links to previous threads on shipping, too.

Personally, we used Excess Baggage and were very happy with the results. We had 20 boxes of stuff shipped door to door (London to Connecticut) and it cost us about 600 quid, I think.

I'm going to ask one of the mods if we can please have the shipping thread stickied in place of the passport one, which is hardly ever used. Anyone object?

As I mentioned, I had already checked the shipping thread and I found some suggestions on it.
I was asking specifically if anyone knew something about shipping from the Burnley area instead of London.

Also, with so many companies going out of business my fiance is finding that his previous arrangements have fallen through so he wanted to know the latest up-to-date information. (If there is, in fact, any newer information.)

I, for one, have no objection to making a sticky thread for the shipping.

Hi, Any suggestions on a reliable and reasonable shipping company? My fiance is in the Burnley area of Lancs and has one very large (6.5 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft) heavy box to get over to the Boston area. It contains an oak china cabinet packed solidly with other belongings inside it. He was set to go but the company went out of business and all he can find are really expensive.

We don't mind if it goes to NY -- we could go and pick it up there. I checked the shipping thread and came up with All Freight, Global Moves, Move Me, John Mason, and Seven Seas. He's going to try all of those but I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas in case he can't use them. Most places he's called want him to transport the box to London first and that makes it very expensive. If anyone has any good recent experience, I'd love to know. Thank you very much.

RE the police report--my finance had the old type so he sent for the new one in early March. It's now early JUNE and he still has not received it. His police station checked on their computer and they say the check was cashed in London but that they never received the report.

This is the only thing that's holding us up but nobody seems to be able to do anything about it. He's going back to the police station on Monday to check AGAIN with them and he has sent in a letter about it (to New Scotland Yard?) but what if he still hears nothing?

What can he do? We are FED UP with the waiting.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLONDON PEOPLE BETWEEN NOA2 AND INTERVIEW
Well, we're still waiting. Sent application on 14th Feb and it's been slow sailing.

The final packet has been sitting in London FOREVER it seems--he has a person he can talk to there by phone (the guy even gave him his extension number). "It's in the pipeline." "Stay near home every Thursday and Friday and wait for the phone call telling you that the courier is coming that day." (Apparently the courier with the interview date letter only delivers in the North on TH and FRI).

Going onto the third week of this waiting by the phone on TH and FRI. Getting extremely discouraged as nothing has happened since he had his medical and he passed and sent in the forms a long time ago.

Our lawyer wants to try talking to them -- I'll have Pete give her the guys' number -- don't know if anything will work at this point.

Hi, Are there any other Feb filers at VSC still waiting for their NOA2? I'm at a loss here as the six month time is almost up. I called customer service to follow up on a request for status that I put in for 60 days ago and they haven't heard anything so they re-issued a request for status from VSC (and they've asked me to wait another 45 days for the VSC to respond even though I waited 60 days for the first request for status and got nothing). I mentioned to the woman on the line that I'm at the six month limit and she responded that the processing is at least up to one year for a I129F.

I don't know what to do. I've signed up on the website and I haven't seen any touches since early May when they processed a change of address. My fear is this thing is lost in the mix.

Does anyone know of any other way to contact VSC without going through that customer service line?

Thanks,

Bumping this up for you. Can you call your state congressman about this? That's what I would do unless anyone comes along with a better idea. Good luck.

There can't be too many of us left in here by now.

We have had ANOTHER delay. Pete called the embassy in London to see about his interview date and they told him he needs an I-134. We don't have it because our lawyer said we didn't need it. I am sponsoring him with a co-sponsor and all of that is in the long form -- if you just look at the I-134, it would look like he wouldn't pass.

Soooo, the lawyer has made up an 1-134, emailed it to me to sign, I will send it to her to notarize and DHL to him -- then finally he can send it off to London (where it will probably get lost....at the rate we're going.) His paperwork expires in late September so this is getting scary.

Called the NVC tonight and the woman told me our petition left yesterday!!!! It is moving! Now I've gotta read over that thread and figure out the tracking thing!

Thank You! It's the new police report that he's waiting for, thank goodness I found that out on here. I don't know why it takes so long for things to get to him but he did explain why packet 3 took 17 days to get from London--the Embassy had cello-taped it and it was stuck to something else and traveled all around England!

Glad to see that you have some action too. (as long as the Embassy doesn't use cello-tape and yours goes traveling like ours did you should be dealing with fun-fun-fun packet 3 pretty soon.)

That got him going and so he ran around today getting his information, new passport photos, talking with his lawyer and also his doctor AND he even called Scotland Yard to see why the police report has taken 5 weeks.

He said the Scotland Yard person was very nice and will expedite his police report so that he will have it in a week. PROGRESS!

That's frustrating when you've gone through the US side of it but then they don't get their packet 3 from the embassy. Pete was supposed to call London today to find out why he never got it. I wonder if this is the hardest time of the waiting. At first it was all new and fresh and exciting. Now, a few months later, this is getting to be almost a hardship. Being apart for so long is hurting and the entire process is getting depressing.

Pete is more or less burning his bridges over there and waiting anxiously to be here. He's sold most of everything he owned, his car is almost dead and he's not going to get it fixed, he's sorting through piles of paperwork on his own. I was so lonely for him today that I started to write a little poem about waiting. Yet it's too soon to be anticipating the happy reunion at the airport.

To keep us FEB FILERS bumped up to the beginning of the threads, I'll add my 2 cents worth.

We have been waiting most of April and now well into May for Pete to receive packet 3 in London. It's getting really depressing. We now think that London sent the packet to our lawyer in the US and it should have been sent to HIM in London. Tomorrow I'm going to DHL the copy our lawyer sent to us -- get it over there to Pete so he can get started with his side of it.

He STILL has not received his police report after FIVE WEEKS. I'm so worried about his filing out all these new forms and getting something wrong, I wish I could just go over there and help him. Then we could practice interview questions too instead of doing it over the phone.

This is taking too long. With my DHL tomorrow I'll include a birthday card for my poor Man. The second year we have missed being together on his birthday. Hope he's here for the 4th of July.

I guess this is where the February Filers are........waiting for package three. I received a letter on April 7 saying that my fiance would soon be receiving the packet. Our lawyer (we have a complicated case and had to get a lawyer) received a copy of the packet about a week ago.) I think she said she's going to email the consulate in London to see what's going on. SCREAMING and GRINNING ear to ear because I just got the NOA2.

Just spoke with Pete last night by phone and he sounded down and bored -- "can't get there soon enough." Before I went to bed I checked the USCIS site and it was still received and pending. Not even touched. But I knew from here that it's been taking about 39 days so I was thinking maybe soon........

I never did get the email that I had signed up for telling me but our lawyer called this morning and she'd had an email from Vermont. I've been frantically trying to call Pete but can't get through. His computer is down too so he doesn't KNOW YET. Wait until he finds out. Somebody do the numbers for me -- I'm too excited to count. Was it about 40 days?

To get your timeline to show at the end of your message you need to include it in your signature - go to My Controls > Edit Signature. You'll have to type in your timeline manually - there's no way to set your signature to automatically extract data from elsewhere.

If by picture you mean an avatar (i.e. the picture that is displayed under our names whenever we make a post) go to My Controls > Edit Avatar Settings. If uploading doesn't seem to work you might want to try hosting it elsewhere and linking to it (i.e. on photobucket or any personal image gallery).

I keep thinking of reasons why they may have been slow up in Vermont last week -- they did get a lot of new snow. Maybe they had the flu. March in New England is BLEEECH. Question is: once we have filed the forms here in the US, is he still allowed to come over and visit me? Does he have to wait alone in the UK until he gets the letter from the British Embassy? We want to be here in the US together and Christmas and for 90 days following that.

Coming from he UK shouldn't be a problem. Just bring ties from home just incase and be honest. You should be fine.

Thanks for the answers. I have one more question -- We're right at the beginning of the K-1--is there a chance that the embassy might want to contact him before he goes back? Do we tell them that he can be contacted HERE? or do they send correspondence to his home address? If it goes to his home address, no one's there -- how do we handle that?

Question is: once we have filed the forms here in the US, is he still allowed to come over and visit me? Does he have to wait alone in the UK until he gets the letter from the British Embassy? We want to be here in the US together and Christmas and for 90 days following that.

Coming from he UK shouldn't be a problem. Just bring ties from home just incase and be honest. You should be fine.

Your fiance can visit, however, he will face greater scrutiny at the PoE and could be denied entry if they feel that he intends to stay. He may be asked to show ties to the UK.

THANK YOU!
