Just for the record, I really dont think anyone is bothered at all by your frustrations... everyone just has their own way of trying to help you to feel better about all of this. I'm quite sure those still waiting can appreciate your concerns and are happy to know they're not alone. That being said, maybe it would be better for you psychologically to put the focus somewhere else for a bit... at least until that darn approval comes through. BTW I dreamt you got your approval last night ! It was quite funny because I was with you (even tho I have no idea what you look like ) and you were just so relieved and happy ....and giggling at yourself and how frustrated you got with the process! None of it mattered once you had that NOA2! It's a premonition! So Suz, you think it's those 'home movies' I sent slowing us down?? JK! Ooooo congratulations on your touch!!! I was born and raised here in Leominster.... my great grandparents landed here from Sicily and helped build this city. It's a wonderful place to live with strong family roots. Yes, we've done this airport / hotel thing for many... many... many years now. This time it's for good! That is the moment that keeps me going through this difficult process! You will have to make sure you get up to Conway... Bartlet... and into the White Mountains in the fall. It is some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see. N.H. is where us MA folks go for expensive things... big party alcohol purchases and where many smokers go for their cigs. I drive a big honkin Eddie Bauer Expedition so it would probably cost me more in gas than i'd spend in groceries! I love Boston too... I had one brother that went to Harvard and one to North Eastern and my ex husband works for Gillette (now P & G) in Southie... so we've spent quite a bit of time there. Russell and I are planning a few days alone there after he arrives in Logan.. although i'm not sure we'll leave the room! (that was for you Suz! :lol) I'm about an hour northwest in Leominster. Yes, they keep all that in their system... don't be spooked. Have you visited the portals and read the reviews for Brazil yet? I have no idea how the process works there but that is your best bet to find out how long it takes from here. Congratulations again. Very happy for you. S&D, I'm so glad my ramblings helped to ease your spirit a bit. It's just honesty really. If there wasn't so many left from your timeframe I might be a little more concerned for you all but there seems to be this small group left from the end of March / early April. I know.. it's so unfair. I don't think I knew you were going to be in New Hampshire. I'm only about 20 minutes from the border. I hope you can get here for fall as it's just breathtaking in New England at that time! Yes, Damian... I meant you. Be strong, stick to your values, do good unto others and life will shine on you. You can't really compare our lovely Country with our screwed up mortgage lenders right now. They're all going under..and there's good reason for that. I work for several real estate companies and an appraisal office and I can tell you that the fact that you even got a mortgage at this point is shocking to me. It just took me 6 months to refi the house i'm living in and it's a family home! It's not an easy thing to go through right now. Don't lose faith... the US is a great place to live! Sure, some of the gov't agencies need a big overhaul... including immigration...anyone would admit that. But you have said the same things about your own Country. Not to psycho-analyze, but I think maybe you're going through a process of grief and with that often comes anger... it helps to have someone to blame. Believe me, I know ALL about that as i've sure done my share of grieving too. Someone with an NOA1 date right around yours was approved yesterday... did you see that? So perhaps my presumption about an adjuticator or two on vacation is true. It's sad that happens, you're right, but I truly feel it's coming. I so wish I could spend a day with you just hanging out and showing you all the beauty and love that I see in life...even throughout this difficult process. I know you're losing hope and I know all these approvals after you are unfair but it happens to some people, i've seen this for a year now with no rhyme or reason to it. You have got to stay strong and believe it's coming or you're going to make yourself sick. It's wonderful that you purchased real estate..especially right now! I know it doesn't feel that way.. but it really is. It's glorious that you have someone you love deeply to share your life with now. Thank you suzy... we do have a long history but much of that has been spent apart. We've just had enough. I'm sure it wont be much longer now, though. We text quite a bit and talk for a little while when he wakes up in the morning (5pm est) and then again for about 3 hours each night. Usually voice chat or webcam. I like to feel like i'm still curling up with him before I drift off to sleep. Love to get together anytime you're near Boston. Just let me know. You're so right to keep perspective. My life has thrown me much bigger curve balls than this and the only way I know how to hit it is straight on...there's no other choice really than to be thankful for all that you are blessed with that's your best defense. You're right in that VERY rarely are people denied at this stage of the process unless it is found that one is not legally allowed to marry.. faces IMBRA issues..etc. However, the Embassy stage is a different story. At some of the higher fraud Consulates it's almost a given that you are denied before you are given your visa. It's the exception but it's still happens enough that there is discussion almost daily here at VJ. My issues with waiting have nothing to do with the USCIS. I've been here long enough to know that timelines fluctuate and not everything is done in order. Of course I want them to approve everyone in a week but I know that's unrealistic. What burdens me most is that i've spent 3 weeks with Russell in the last 10 months... this after being together daily for a year and a half.... I miss him and he misses me. Sure, maybe I can visit... I have. But NZ is not the kinda place you can just hop over to for a few days vacation. It's extremely expensive and an extremely long flight. He is not allowed into the U.S. in on the VWP anymore so it would have to be me going to visit him and trying to situate my kids for that long is not too easy. This is the place where people understand that. To have him in my arms every day for so long and now having to wait this out... in the scheme of things it's not so long... but tell that to my heart. Just getting here now as i've been following mama nich's advice and keeping myself off the computer as much as I can. Not so easy when it's your job! Still no news but i'm confident it's coming! Megan, so glad things are still going well for you. I too lost weight with all 3 of my pregnancies... course I gained hundreds after! You get safely to your man and let us know when you're across the pond. I think this visit is going to do you guys so much good. I'm happy you have this time. Suzy, if I wasn't 4 hours away and so busy i'd be down there in a heartbeat for a night of partying after all this! Somehow I think you could keep up with me. Perhaps some day. That's funny about Luis... sounds like something my friends would ask me. Course they know i'd tell them the truth.. usually with details! Aww Kristen, sorry you're fretting now. I don't think the language barrier will be a problem as long as you prove you can communicate. Maybe you could include a letter stating that you can and do communicate just fine and that you're both working on becoming fluent in each others languages. I'm sure that would help. Try not to fret too much... you're almost there. Sandra, at his medical they will test his blood to find out if and what he needs for vaccinations if he doens't have his records. Raff, as I mentioned before and as you see above, there are still some from your time period waiting. I wish I knew why. Hate to assume anything but it seems that adjuticator is on vacation! I can't imagine going weeks beyond this point where all my april buddies are being approved so I certainly understand your discouragement. Have you tried calling Vermont yet? I know they'll probably tell you that you're within your time BUT there have been many instances wh ere you can get a little more information depending on who you talk to. Let us know. Peach's sent date (the date they supposedly go by) was 3/30 and she was just approved. By looking at those left I have to wonder if there is just this short stack of filers from your timeframe. Your initial concern of having a bit longer due to security checks because of your job could be it as well. It can be anything holding it up a little longer than some. The good news is that usually those dont get held up for too long. I'm sure it's coming... but in the meantime don't feel badly about being down or having to hold back as we celebrate. Vermont gets there quicker as it's just over the border in N.H. 603-334-0700, press 1 for English, press 5 to talk to a person. K1's are not entered into the automated system. They can tell you if/when they've received it and if/when it's sent out to the Consulate. It's best to call early morning EST or late at night. (Some Consulates receive electronic version first so they'll have the info before they even receive the hardcopy ) However, you can track your hardcopy through DHL once you have the case number. There are lots of posts around here about that... type track case nvc to embassy in search... and you'll come up with lots of posts.. probably a lot of my own! I'm just not at home right now to give you the c&p info I usually pass on. As far as your interview... every Consulate is different. Some are quicker than others. You can get an idea by going to the Embassy Info link and checking but your best bet is to read others reviews of that Embassy to find out all you can about what will be required by you / your fiance and how long it will take. So yesterday I began tracking my food again and had a really great work out that helped my spirit tremendously. They will care about you're making NOW. Can you get the W2's from whomever prepared your taxes? I dont know why the transcripts wouldn't be enough. Everyone I've seen here that goes through Peru has a pretty easy time of it and a very quick interview date. Hope that holds true for you! I am SOOOO UP for a drink ...or 4... when this is done with! I found out just yesterday that my ex husband (whom I filed with in 2006) never sent the documents into the IRS therefore my returns from this year are delayed and I could lose much of it. Our tax guy has always done it so that's probably where the mistake happened but still.... I also had a physical yesterday and my blood pressure was very high.... it's never been high before. Do you know what they are asking you for? It's usually just one year's tax return now for most (used to be 3). The transcripts are just one page so it's easier to read but I think you'll be fine with your 1040 too. Maybe you should order them (since they're free anyway) and contact the Consulate via email to see what exactly they want. That's what I did mainly because i'm self-employed...own rental property...etc... and I was unsure of exactly what they wanted to see. I found out that NZ is just as concerned with Russ's ability to support himself...made sense but it was different from anything I had heard here! I'd order the transcripts... and if they dont arrive before you leave you can take the 1040's. It's getting very exciting for you guys. i'm happy for you! S&D, I understand your concern completely! The truth is the majority of petitions are approved within a timely manner...allbeit disorderly ... and those stuck in security checks for a long time are few and far between. It is so difficult being stuck in this limbo. I'm sure even moreso when you're just waiting to get over here and start anew. Don't lose hope tho... it's very common to be a couple of weeks behind the newer filers you see being approved. I'm assuming an adjuticator with a box from late March went on vacation or something seeing the group of filers with your noa1 date, or thereabouts, still waiting. Quite unfair... but it happens all the time. I have my fingers crossed that you hear something today! PiP... our time is soon my friend! I guess i've reached the stage where i'm not checking for touches and approvals constantly. Overall I think the VJ data is a good representation of the uscis process and timelimes but when you are looking subjectively (ie; at your own dates) and going day to day waiting... it's very likely there have been several approvals that day that we have not seen here at VJ. That is where I think the data skews perception. Glad you're moving right along. Lizzie, congratulations and thanks so much for letting us know! Your dates are just a day or two in front of ours! Best of luck in Morocco! p.s. I wanted to add about the graphs... We've got to remember that there were serious issues going on at the service centers and many changes being made throughout the past year. Over the last year or so i've tried every which way to analyze every number reported by the uscis but the only thing that remains certain ...is the uncertainty! One thing that always helps me to keep some perspective is remembering that we are such a small percentage of actual filers here at VJ and even though we may not see approvals for a few days, things are certainly still happening. You have only to look at case #'s (as dale has done) or even at DHL and the amount of petitions they send off to the Embassy's each day. The way the adjutication process has been explained it's really no wonder some petitions are approved out of order. As unfair as it is and as disheartning as it can be to see some others approved before you, it's the nature of the beast. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	APRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers	If you go over the timelines you will find that historically it is not uncommon for any of the centers to go from processing in a matter of weeks to taking a few months. Vermont has always been the fastest of all centers but still we see fluxuations in processing here and there. We learned from a former adjuticator that those who process the honey-bunnies (k1's) are not the same that process other petitions. But who really knows if things have changed since then. Naturalization only makes a pit stop at the uscis and is handled more at the local service centers so I dont think that's what is holding us up. The H1's would make sense as the deadline for those was early April but again, not sure it's the same adjuticator's doing the work and past years haven't really showed a major slow down during this process so it's hard to speculate. Although, that's where i'm putting my money. It's really hard to even guess at what is happening because the process we find ourselves stuck in is relatively new. Up until mid-2007 there were more service centers processing k1's. After the rate hike and re-distribution of everything to just two centers last year there was such a backlog... new adjuticators hired... etc. This is the first year that there are just two centers now processing the K1's and they are both just over the backlog caused and onto 'regular' processing.... so it's hard to know what's going on. Everything we see and know historically is out the window. If the assumption that the H1b's are holding us up is correct, we wil probably see things speeding up before too long as they've all been chosen by now. Time will tell....
