K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhy do my numbers change on Igor's List?
Just to add to what Karin posted, Igor's List is merely a member database using Visa Journey statistics. The members at VJ are a very small percentage of the actual petitions handled by the USCIS.

There are many who have this problem. There is a 6 months and waiting thread in the progress reports forum. I'm going to move this post here and perhaps you can find some support with them.

Hope you hear something soon. good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCalifornia I-129F delay
While I tend to agree that we should all at least contact our representatives with issues regarding the immigration process, it's important to understand that the USCIS is funded mostly by our petition fees and not our tax dollars.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp - How long could this possibly take?
If you fill in your timeline you will get an estimated adjutication date based on VJ data. It's usually fairly accurate.

Why some people get approved before others is always a question. No two cases are created equally. There are security checks at every stage of the process and not all adjuticator's are created the same either.

I'm sure you'll hear something soon. In the meantime get everything you need together for the next step! good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2 / VJ TIMELINES FOR MARCH
There is a filing and progress forum devoted to K-1 members who are waiting for NOA2/I-797. I will be moving this thread there from K-1 General Discussion.

Also, English only outside the Regional forums. And... when you type in ALL CAPS it is considered yelling by internet etiquette standards. Please refrain from doing so.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdoes it mean an RFE??
QUOTE (conquest @ Mar 20 2009, 11:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Patients is a virtue unless you are appling for a visa.

No visa has been applied for as of yet. The I-129f is a petition to then apply for the visa with the Embassy. wink.gif I know it may seem like a silly thing but the terminology is actually very important as you move along.

As stated above, many are taking longer to get NOA1's (I-797). Some never get the first ... you can call uscis and let them know if you used a money order...maybe you'll be lucky and they'll give it to you. It's the NOA2 (I-797) that you really need.

KimandRussFemaleNew Zealand2009-03-21 08:29:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFast turnaround at the NVC
you can continue to call NVC (they're much nicer than USCIS wink.gif ) .... be aware, you must talk to a human being as K-1's are not entered into the NVC automated system. If you did not talk to a person last time and depended on the automated system, then you can call DOS to see if your petition has moved onto the Embassy and even if a p3/4 has been sent out to the beneficiary yet. wink.gif

There are security checks at every stage of the petition/visa process. Any one of which can hold you up and whether or not you feel you have any circumstances that would. We have no common names and nothing in our past that would hold us up...yet it took 3 weeks for some reason.
KimandRussFemaleNew Zealand2009-03-21 10:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFast turnaround at the NVC
It used to be that the approved petition was only at the NVC a matter of days.

VSC filers normally going through much quicker because NVC is just over the border in New Hamphire. wink.gif I'm not sure why yours (raj) isn't there yet. Seems odd.

CSC filers often report their cases taking time to get to NVC. Lately it seems more and more people are getting stuck in AP/Security Checks once at NVC. We got stuck in August of last year for 3 weeks. NZ not a high fraud Country. wink.gif It's a ####### shoot really.

Congrats Bobby!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC RFE Processing
Just curious... did you forget to tick the box under part C, Q2 on the I129f? The above question is military related so a lot of people dont think they need to tick the box below that refers to past convictions. Very common RFE.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsReceived NOA2!! But I have an important question
Yes, if your case status says that you were approved then you were approved. Give the NOA2 a bit more time. You will want to call if it doesn't come in say another week or so as you will need it for AOS.
KimandRussFemaleNew Zealand2009-03-22 09:30:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsReceived NOA2!! But I have an important question
There have always been inconsistencies. The bottom line is that it doesn't really matter what it says or who tells you... the approved petition goes to the NVC (for proccessing and additional security checks) and is then forwarded to the Embassy.
KimandRussFemaleNew Zealand2009-03-21 10:09:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsReceived NOA2!! But I have an important question
Congratulations on your NOA2. Yes, for some reason, some notices will say it's going directly to the Embassy and some will say they're going to NVC. Even some uscis workers will tell you it's going directly to the Embassy. wacko.gif

The approved petition will go to NVC and then off to the Embassy. good luck at the interview.

Thank you all for your stories yesterday. They helped to keep a smile in my heart all day long. smile.gif I hope they did the same for you.... probably not quite as much as those 5 approvals did!!!!! Keep them coming folks. It's a lot easier going through this with happy thoughts dancing around in our heads. Seems it's good luck too! wink.gif

Nic, I feel so much like you in that all my life i've taken care of everyone else. No regrets... it's just what I do. wink.gif But now I have this wonderful man who wants nothing more than to take care of me and make my days as happy and comfortable as he can. And I want the same for him. There aren't words to describe the gift he is to my life. I'm so glad you have that too... you deserve it! smile.gif

Dutti, congratulations! I can only imagine how high you are riding right now! Thank you for sharing it with us because we are all so close here we can taste it! Your approvals are like an appetizer! laughing.gif

Good morning April

Fernanda... keep that glass half full girl!

It's getting rough over here too and my poor baby is going stir crazy on the other side of the world sad.gif ... so i'm working hard at changing my attitude and keeping some perspective as we wait. It's easier to do when you know your love is suffering, no? My turn to be the strong one! wink.gif

K people, there is enough sadness and despair going on for all of us. We need some HAPPY!!!! wink.gif

So, this is your mission if you choose to accept it.... and this goes out to all filers.. not just April. We're all in this.

I want to know your happy thoughts. What keeps you going? What makes you happy? What is your happiest memory of your SO? Anything that gives you warm fuzzies and reminds you of all the reasons you're on this journey in the first place... share it with us and hopefully we can replace some of this negative energy with positive....

Every time I get sad I think of that moment he is walking through the gates at Logan airport... again. As we've done so many times ....except this time he's home to stay! Leaping into his arms and causing a scene laughing.gif ...and then a few days of just him and I locked away in a beautiful room in Boston...away from the rest of the world and opening a new chapter to our lives together! smile.gif Our wedding will be special but THAT is the day that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Next?????

I understand Fernanda, it is a little crazy but it is what it is... many couples who have had these 'non-legal' ceremonies either brought pictures or mentioned it and the CO didnt quite see it the same...even though the law states otherwise...and they found themselves in a difficult place. We're just warning you. After all the heartbreaking stories i've read here on VJ I would just hate to see you go through that. Perhaps you can do it after your visa is in your passport? Some have opted to take that route. Just be sure not to mention it to the CBP either! It's the price we pay I suppose. Whatever you decide, i'm sure it will be beautiful. smile.gif

The process is taking it's toll and we find we are getting more and more impatient as the days pass by. A week full of April approvals would do our psyche much good! wink.gif

Here's a link with more information regarding the Social Security card. Note: you should apply for this at least two weeks after entering (to be sure you are in the system) and within two weeks of the I-94 expiration date (to be sure it has time to process).

What is required for a drivers license varies by state. In MA you can drive for up to one year with your foreign license.

Looks like EAD (Employment Authorization Document ..for steff wink.gif ) is taking a couple months as well as AP... 485 is a little longer. Who knows what it will be by the time we get there but at least we'll be together!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL '08 Vermont K-1 Filers
There are all sorts of discussions here on legal vs. non-legal ceremonies and how it can/has effected others visa process. Some people have held a non-legal ceremony in the beneficiary's country with no problems and will tell you as such. But, as Sal stated, others have had serious consequences.

We do not have a date. The NZ consulate is relatively fast so it should only be a matter of a few weeks after our petition is approved that Russell has his visa and is back home with us. Hopefully we'll be approved within the next few weeks which should put him home by August *knocks on wood* but as with everything in this process... nothing is certain or clear. So... we will wait until visa is in hand to decide.

Thankfully, we have just an intimate ceremony planned for now and it doesn't matter to either of us where or when that is. As long as we can finally move on to all that awaits us ...we're good. wink.gif We will celebrate with a larger event when his family comes from NZ in the spring. We should be much more settled by then.

You guys all know you are not notified of touches, right? Just making sure because i've come across many who didn't know where to look. wink.gif In any case, Bex is right, many cases go the entire time wthout a date change (aka touch) so not to worry it doesnt have an impact on your case. Just seems some adjuticator's are more touchy than others. laughing.gif

We're at 98 now which feels good but as I mentioned earlier, many of the first 20 are either not active, been approved, or have received RFE's... also, like our good friends from March noted, they were approved whilst in the 60's. wink.gif It does feel good to be slipping down the list. Sux to move back up it too! laughing.gif

Well it's a beautiful Saturday and I'm going to do my best to enjoy it even though I am without my love. sad.gif

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend full of strength, patience and positive thoughts!

Stephanie, Igor's list has nothing to do with the USCIS. It is simply a list taken from the VJ database of filers. The 'last updated' means the last time that couple updated their timeline.

Fernanda, I do hope you hear something on the waiver soon and I hope that we all find a nice email from CRIS in the coming days! wink.gif

I hear you Jill....
All of my work is online... I fix software/hardware...design graphics, create and maintain websites, host my own server and have a personal website/forum with tons of members that i've hosted for a decade. I'm online all the time and VJ calls me all day and all night! I do stay very positive for the most part as I am definitely a glass half full girl but it's hard setting my psyche back on the right path sometimes. Very much like Graham, going over the numbers helps me. Even though I understand it's such a small percentage, having something tangible that shows we're moving in the right direction helps a lot. Going over Igor's list and confirming that most of the first 20 of those listed are probably either approved or waiting for another reason helped me some as well. We're #99 today and into the double digits. That should keep me going for the morning! laughing.gif

Boy, you guys are quiet today. Trying to maintain your sanity I suppose. wink.gif

I thought this was interesting... for a break tonight I went over the first 20 filers on Igor's list...

1. Last seen 2/3
2. Last seen 1/23
3. & 4. same couple - have not updated timeline since april
5. RFE
6. last seen may
7. approved.. didn't update timeline
8. RFE - last seen may
9. last seen may
10. no link - last updated march
11. still waiting as of june 12
12. timeline wrong? removed?
13. last seen february
14. rfe
15. no noa2 date listed...but has interview?
16. waiting
17. last seen may
18. last seen may
19. feb send - april 21 noa1 date?
20. waiting

How skewed the numbers really are. Something more to ponder. wink.gif

Just FYI...(and anyone else who perhaps doesn't know)... if you click on the + QUOTE button under the post you wish to reference you will notice it will turn red. You can click + quote on as many posts as you like and as soon as you click on ADD REPLY you will be taken to your new page and will notice each of the quotes you wish to respond to are there. Just write your response where you want it outside of the open and close quote tags.

If you just wish to quote text (like I did above without using names..etc) just use the 'fast reply' button, type or c&p the text you wish to quote and highlight it. Then click on the 'wrap in quote tags' button.

ride2hard... try not to take anything the uscis tells you too literally. They tell you it's going to take 7 months because 7 months is the processing time listed on their website. If you called again today, you'd probably get a different answer. blink.gif

Brian, I see your point... but stats still pretty much mean shite to me. tongue.gif The Gallup poll is based on public opinion, which is usually pretty easy to figure out. So many things influence most people's decision making when it comes to politics... most of all... being ahead in the Gallup poll! laughing.gif Unfortunately, for many people... nothing fuels persuation more than the majorities vote.

The stats at vj are an actual representation but at a very small percentage. There are pdf's floating around here somewhere which list the total visa's processed through the uscis for the past decade. My point is... one day could have 50 approvals and we see none here at VJ, the next day could also have 50 approvals yet we see 10 of those at VJ. Either way, it's still 50 approvals for VSC. As most of us are feeling 'day to day' here now we can't really look at 'the big picture' because it doesn't tell the whole tale..and we can't really look at yesterday and see no approvals when in actuallity there may have very well been many. wacko.gif

Sometimes the stats make more sense... If there was more transparency to the process I think it would be easier to handle for many of us. This is why we like to be touched...that is why Igor's list works for most... in a broader and much more accurate spectrum of known filers, you can watch things progress day to day as you see your name move on the list. It's ... something you know? Something more to keep you going... Of course we must still leave room for error but it's still a clearer picture in real time.

Anyway... rough start to my morning.... computer problems, spilled coffee all over the floor and now I must go to work and fix more computers! The wait is getting harder, isn't it? I suppose it's because we know it's coming(?)

Ok...I think I need an attitude adjustment! Off for more coffee and hopefully a little perspective. wink.gif Have a good day folks!

:edit because apparently I can't spell

Good morning April.

Glad you seem more positive today, Graham.

There is more anticipation when checking emails and opening VJ these days, no?

It's so hard to tell what and how they're doing at the VSC because VJ is such a small percentage of actual filers. I find that when i'm feeling down one of the things I do is imagine the adjuticators at work. I see them going through the process as it was explained here for each file... file after file after file. I remind myself of the fact that we must multiply the approvals we see here at VJ by dozens more each day. I know ours is there...just waiting.... not too much longer. wink.gif

Consider the hour-glass; there is nothing to
be accomplished by rattling or shaking; you have
to wait patiently until the sand, grain by grain,
has run from one funnel into the other.
~ John Christian Morgenstern

I do hope that this week we can at least see them clearning out March and moving through April. good.gif

There are few situations a case is expedited and they will move your petition through the uscis. If your fiance is to be deployed, if he/she is very sick...things like that. Criteria is listed on the uscis website. Sometimes contacting your representative and requesting an expedite gets a quicker approval as well but most will tell you that they can do nothing until you are outside the uscis processing times.
