Welcome back Blake... so happy you finally got to share the wonderful news with Olga. A strong man never afraid to show his emotions... that's the best kind if ya ask me! I've got one of those too! laughing.gif We'll all be celebrating with you when the day comes that you can bring her home.

Sunny, congratulations on your new job and I hope it follows with even more good news for you very soon.

She's, those touches have got to mean something! Is CSC back to not updating online again? That has to make you nuts. Every walk to the mailbox must be so emotional for your fiance! Cmon CSC!

Big Congrats Raghu!

Gaye, big hugs to you my friend. I really can't imagine what you're going through but think happy thoughts. smile.gif You and your kids are on to a new adventure... the world is not as big as we think!

this one place we looked into in Maine required...

a $3,000 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking
minimum food & beverage purchase for a reception in 2008 is $15,000 (not including tax and gratuity)
Room rental fee of $2,500
Ceremony fee of $1,000
and all this with min/max guest requirements

Sunny, it's refreshing to me that you got someone helpful at the uscis! I do hope it means something for you soon!

Russell and I have spent in excess of $65,000 in travelling the world over the last 3 years (not to mention 2 years of lost wages which would more than quadruple that figure) so we're not planning a big to-do either. I've kind of had it with the 'hub-bub' anyway and really am looking forward to some normalcy and peace. We even talked to his family about flying up in the spring (when flights from NZ are much cheaper) instead of right away for a more formal ceremony and they agreed! Big stress off of us! We're still not sure what we'll do for our first ceremony but we've got a few days planned alone in Boston upon his arrival. wink.gif We always saw ourselves on the beach at sunset for our vows so we'll probably fine a nice place to spend the night and get married soon after his arrival. The kids want to be involved and i'm sure some other close friends and/or family might want to come too but we're keeping it low key and low budget! There will be no honeymoon for now because we've already had several! laughing.gif No regrets..we've had GREAT time. But honestly, i'm so damn sick of travelling! The 10 year green card honeymoon sounds like a fabulous idea though! wink.gif I guess because there is so much other drama I just dont want a big deal for our vows... I also think that psychologically, and very much like a child laughing.gif, I almost resent that my government is giving me a deadline to marry! And that after making us wait so long to be together! In the spring I think we'll be more prepared and willing to have a big party and to share our vows with a couple hundred people. I think I will look forward to planning and preparing for that after he is here and we are situated back into our day to day! It will give his family time to miss him again as well! laughing.gif

However, we will NOT be spending no $25,000 on that day! That's an addition to our home! laughing.gif Don't get me wrong.. I did the big expensive wedding thing 17 years ago and it was lovely but in hindsight it would have been much easier to build our first home with those funds! laughing.gif And that $2,000 dress that I just had to have is still sitting in my basement doing nothing. laughing.gif All comes down to what you want. I'm lucky this time that it's very clear to me.

I think in the end what's most important is that you do what the two of you want. Whether it's a few words in front of a stranger in the courthouse in your jeans or a ceremony in full dress with hundreds of people there suporting you. What's most important is what that day symbolizes for the two of you.

How your love grows after that day has nothing to do with the way you did it or how much money you spent.

congrats on your 2nd interview sunny. hopefully we'll be congratulating you for your noa2 before the weekend!

Rachel, i'm glad you're not stressing about the 'ceremony'. That was pretty much my point I suppose. Although it's an important day... in the big scheme of things.. it's still just a day! wink.gif We're pretty happy that we dont need to stress out about throwing something together at the last minute now and we can focus on what all of this is really about...US. Yet, we still get our big 'to-do' and can celebrate with both families in the near future...just not that near! wink.gif I hope it works out the same for you! Whatever you do, it will be special because it will be about the two of you. smile.gif

it's so nice to see csc moving again! I hope they keep it up!

This is the best thread I can find on the subject... Although, I don't know that it does anything but reaffirm the fact that it's a very gray area that can be interpreted in many ways!

Russell will work for me until he has his EAD then he'll put his master's back to work I suppose. Not too concerned with it here but I can imagine it's a pretty big issue for most and should be made clear.

On that note, and now that many of you have been approved over here wink.gif, have any of you been asked by the consulate to supply a CV/Resume for the beneficiary?? I've never heard of such a request but it was on a short list of documents sent to me via email from the Consulate in response to what financial docs they would need from me.

I've never had an employer request proof that I was legally able to work beyond my SSC. I'm not sure why they would ask for it without the K-1 holder volunteering additional information

Sorry, forgot to mention that although i'm self-employed and have no personal knowledge, one of my tenants is a manager for an employment agency and she MUST request an EAD and run it through certain databases from every person who applies.

Yes, I've read that several times over the last year trying to better iterpret the law. It's also been posted here quite a bit. I'll try to find the post but I think it was rebeccajo who cleared it up best basically stating that ultimately it is the responsiblity of the Department of Homeland security that gets to say who can and can not work. So, while the K1 authorizes you it basically just authorizes you to be authorized! girlwerewolf2xn.gif ... I know!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?
Courtesy of Yu and Dan....

K-1 is not a work visa, it is a fiancee visa for entry to the USA and marriage, K-1 is "Work Auth" primarily to be able to get the SSN, some states are strict in their interpretation of a federal law that requires persons applying for a "license" to have SSN, this can cause a problem with marriage license if only one person has SSN and the other (the K-1 holder) does not.

A K-1 can apply for EAD card before marriage and filing AOS, however, this costs $340, and results is a 90 day EAD card that expires 90 days after entry, and since it can take nearly 90 days to get the card, the card will either have expired before it can be issued, or expires shortly after getting it.

So basically it says to the DHS that this person is able to work per your authorization. I'm sure you can find employers who will accept just a social security # but many will want to see EAD from the DHS authorizing you to work legally.

Uuuugh so the quiet, informal backyard wedding has been upped to a sit-down occasion at a local community hall, and now Alex's parents are suggesting we should have dancing. crying.gif

Rachel, we went from that intimate beachside wedding to the big 'to-do' with hundreds of people because Russell's family decided they would fly up from NZ to see us married. It actually weighed pretty heavily on us because it's not what either of us wanted but we were willing to adjust our plans to accomodate them. BUT, after a long talk with his family this weekend, we've decided on the intimate ceremony now and promised a big blow out next spring when airfare is cheaper for them (it's extremely expensive to fly to/from nz) and after we have more time to plan/save..etc. We are quite happy about this as you can imagine!

Even though it was a tad frustrating to me, the way I saw it at the time was how much they must love him to want to be there! I'm sure Alex's family feels the same. They want to share in his/your joy and celebrate your new lives together. Still, I couldn't help but worry about when, where and how we'd pay for it so soon after his arrival. I hope it all sorts itself out for you and that you find the day magical regardless of how it's done.

I think they'd probably tell you that every case is different and that you are still within processing times. sad.gif Judging by the timelines and those recently approved it looks like you guys will be any day. I know it's got to be frustrating watching others get approved as you wait but your time is coming! smile.gif

btw.. igor's list is based on the vj database which updates it's own timeline in real time instead of just once a day. I know ..something else to obsess about. laughing.gif I find it gives me something to do when i'm feeling anxious.

Why do you say it was the hardest things you ever did?

Because it's what you care most about... you can't leave it on your desk at the end of the day or let something wait that needs doing. You are a parent 24/7..whether you have the time, or the energy or whether you're in the mood or not. If you do it right anyway. wink.gif Lots of people just think that being there is enough. I'm a mom who thinks it's important to interact, serve as an example and share the wonders of the world with her kids and I tried to fill their time with happy, beautiful and fun things. Once they started school, I was as involved as I could be with that too. Also coached pop warner cheering for many, many... many years. A full time job in itself! There are just so many demands that you are not rewarded monetarily for... but they do make you rich in so many other ways. wink.gif So, while it's the hardest job i've had, it's by far the most rewarding.

We also lost a child to a heart problem between the two I have now so I am well aware that bad things can and do happen. sad.gif An added stress that I hope none of you ever have to endure.

I've never been one to sit still or watch daytime tv or anything so when the kids were napping I taught myself html and other scripting languages... I took computers apart and put them back together... all of which I do now for work wink.gif ... and I filled my time with tons of volunteer work. I also lost 200 pounds, started a website and went on many tv shows and magazine shoots in that time. My husband at the time was a great support and I am surrounded by a super family and great friends but the day to day, although rewarding like nothing else, was a lot of work.

Ooooo it looks like you guys are clearing out pretty quickly over here! WTG CSC!

Sunny, i'm with you girl... you're never really 'ready'. People crack me up when they say they are waiting for more money..or a bigger house..etc. They just dont know! wink.gif Life will throw you curve balls all the time! My daughter is 16 this coming Monday and my son will be 13 in July. I'm 38 and Russell is 29 and we're planning on a new little 'nugget' to add to our clan soon too. I'm sure it will be much different this time around and i'm so looking forward to it! Sure, they're a lot of work but my kids are just awesome and I couldn't imagine my life without them. My kids (aka built in babysitters laughing.gif... jk) are very excited too!

Cecile.. sometimes a man, or woman for that matter, just doesn't know until he looks at that beautiful creation of your love and then it's all over! You better hope he doesn't want 10 after that! laughing.gif I stayed at home for about 14 years and never regretted a moment of it! I can see the world of difference it has made in my kids to have me here. Hardest thing I ever did though! Not to say you can't be a good mom and work..cuz that's what I do now..but because I work for myself, and around their schedule...i'm still there for them every day. Even more important when you have teenagers. wink.gif

So if i'm 38 and he's 29 what does that make me, eh??? Besides SMART I mean! laughing.gif

I'm with Blake in regards to sara's case. I think one uninformed secretary made a statement that she probably shouldn't have. Age means very little when it comes to matters of the heart and i'm sure the uscis feels the same. Now too much of an age difference ...with other 'noticeable' contributing factors does give me that pervy visa fraud feeling too but eh, who are we to judge who is in love and who is in visa-love? That's for the uscis to decide and hopefully they're doing their job! As Blake stated, Sara's SO is from a pretty rough part of the world and we know he was already stuck in security clearance. The problem I see with her case is that she gets a different answer depending on the day and the voice at other end. That's just not right. I mean, if they're in security checks then state that and stay with that...don't tell her it's with an adjuticator and about to be approved then tell her it's back in checks. I know there are several levels of database checks but this is really just ridiculous and my heart goes out to them both as i'm sure do yours.

We were touched today! I know it means nothing but it feels oooo sooo good! laughing.gif

hey folks! I know we filed at VSC but we had to wait years just to be allowed into the 'waiting room' and we've been apart (literally the other side of the world) for 8 months after living together so I relate in a very real way to how you're feeling. It just shouldn't take this long.

I'm a very positive and optomistic person but I find as the time is dwindling down that I am getting more and more impatient with the waiting. It's like each day brings us one step closer and makes us more anxious for that super prize that is the email from CRIS saying we are approved and on to the next step!

I don't have any good advice except to do as you are.... try to keep busy and stay positive. Just wanted you to know that even some of us over at the 'speedy center' are feeling very much the same. It shouldn't be long now. Stay strong and soon we'll celebrate together!!!

Rachel, i'm sorry you're in hormone hell. It's tough stuff. I always just try to remember that 'this too shall pass'. I hope it does for you soon! smile.gif

Blake, you're cute. Your expectations seem reasonable. In the same respect, I know nothing changes by having a bad attitude so I guess that's where you all stand and I admire that. smile.gif I've seen many interviews within a month of NOA2, or just thereafter. So, at least there's hope!

Steph, I do hope it's sooner for you as well!

JeroenandMichelle... I do think it will be sooner than that for you too! wink.gif

I do wish CSC would take some cues from Vermont. It's unfair and nothing frustrates me more. I hope you all have written your representatives if only to note the disparity between the service centers. You'd think they would know..but they really dont. It needs a voice and who best to do it than all of you?

Well i've been waiting around here for 7 months just to be able to file and this after having lived together for 2 years! I know it may not help now but I can tell you that the time does go fast. Keep your heads up over here! Soon this part will all be a distant memory ...and a great reminder of why you should never take each other for granted! wink.gif I'm over here routing for you!

A&R... in IE click file and send shortcut to desktop or save it to favorites, that way it's a click away instead of a c&p. wink.gif I have a K1 folder on my desktop with shortcuts to all user created lists, the vj lists and important information i've found so it's always easy to locate. You do know Igor's list is based on the vj database? wink.gif We are a very small percentage of the true number of filers. Gosh, if you and the people on your site have lost those 100pounds and more, I'd probably be able to do so also. i'd surely be checking your site more often. star_smile.gif

I just hope and pray that you will soon have news about your brother. rose.gif

Thanks Gaye, I appreciate it. smile.gif The site was started almost 10 years ago and I can vouch for the fact that it's a lot harder keeping it off! It really doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose cuz in the end it's all about feeling good and living well!

Thank you as well for the wishes regarding my brother. We hold out hope that he will come home to us someday soon.

BTW, anybody know I could buy will power? will power to resist food! Gosh, i'm soooo weak when it comes to food Right now, I am giving excuses that I won't be eating filipino foods for a long time so I might as well stock up.. YEAH RIGHT!!! the thing that is really stocking up is my hips and the belly. ARRGGG!!! Maybe I should buy some straps and have myself strapped during meal time and snack time.

Gaye, I dont know where you can find any will power but maybe this will help... Getting2Goal < my site... read the tips. wink.gif

btw... there has got to be places here in the states you'll be able to get your favorite foods from home.

CSC seems to be pushing the approvals out a little faster these days. Could it be they're finally catching up? wink.gif I hope so! Looks like a lot of you will be approved around the same time we hope to be. Maybe I should start posting here! laughing.gif
