Congratulations newenglander... from another newenglander! smile.gif

Congratulations to you as well MeteorRain. smile.gif

psalm... processing times on the USCIS website are to protect themselves so people don't call. Although there are some 'stragglers', they are rarely working on the dates they say they are. wink.gif VSC is processing quite fast these days but it still all depends on which adjutictor's desk you end up on. wink.gif Good luck to you.

I hope the rest of you February filers are approved soon!

being touched really doesn't mean a thing so no need to worry about that.

Last year, because of the influx of petitions, most people from both offices were waiting SOooo long for their approvals. VSC certainly seems to have caught up, except with a few poor souls still left waiting for whatever reason. CSC has no excuse. At the same time they raised the rates, they also spread the states evenly between the two offices.

Historically, VSC has always been much faster than any other office. They are just getting back to what is their 'norm'. You would think the CSC would want to take some lessons from VSC because it is very unfair you folks have to wait so much longer.

I thought you'd like that. wink.gif

You dont need to start a spreadsheet. All of the same information is on the VJ timeline . You could just add that link to your sig for those who have trouble finding it. wink.gif

Just PM me if you want/need some help with that. smile.gif

A VSC February filer (2/18-2/19) was approved today folks!

Sorry CSC's it's got to be difficult knowing you're in for a wait while others are being approved. My heart goes out to each of you.

In posting this I wondered if perhaps I should suggest one of you starting a VSC specific thread as the January filers have? Just a thought to show a little courtesy to the other filers.

Logically you already know that nobody has the answer for you but at 18 days in I think i'd be pretty pleased that someone was at least fondling me already! laughing.gif

Also, from reading all these posts, somebody mentioned that some 20 something plus people that filed in jan, have been approved already? How do you do that search on this site?

There are several different stats pages taken from the vj timelines here. Some are personal and people have them within their posts or there is Igor's, as mentioned above, and the VJ Timline is a great way to learn about approvals. You can use the drop down lists at the bottom to change your options as well. You can get to all timelines for whichever part of this process you are going through by clicking on "Immigration Timelines" link above.

Good luck February filers. but don't get down. You should feel very fortunate that you all aren't facing a 4,5 or 6 month wait like summer '07 filers.

Amen to that, Jason. Some of those poor people have been waiting sooooo long.

Stay strong people. Your time is coming!

Ehm I read a few postings and some filers were talking about getting the stuff transcript ready to sent to your Fiancees. I am the beneficary and I am leaving country in 3 weeks. Untill then I wanna prepare my Fiance with the documents he needs to sent me before I go to the Interview. What documents are you exactly talking about? And where can I get them. Can anybody help?

If you scroll down on the guide there is a section for what to send the beneficiary. Good luck! wink.gif

Hello everyone!
I'm a February filer me too, very end of February lol
I was wondering if they always send us an email for NOA1, or if some only received the hard copy of NOA1. My fiance didn't get anything yet so far but we saw the check was cashed.

He/She will be getting something in 'snail' mail as well.

Good luck!

Congratualtions on your approval again boohbah.

I'm not sure if the NVC can/will do anything about your fiance's address. But here's the info anyway....

NVC Contact Information

You need to speak to someone. K1s are not entered into the automated system. Use options 1 and then 5. I've read that it's much better to call later at night.

Your petition wont stay there long. They will be able to tell you when/if it was sent off to London and then you can (if you like) try to track your petition to London usind DHL.

Greetings everyone here...

Just a quick few questions...

It seems as if some know when things have been touched prior to receiving their first noa1 just wondering how you come to find this info?

Some also look like they got their apps right in and checks cashed. still waiting to see my check cashed electronically online with my bank and I know the packet was delievered to their post box last Saturday. Getting anxious, seems some get right through and some like mine sit and wait... I know I am in for a long wait but why is their such a difference in acceptance of apps, new ones coming in and processing payments ?

Last Question or thought here. I know on our timelines gives a promising estimate on aprox date the apps will be approved and sent to state office, but looking at processing times online, csc seems to be at least in august just starting January 2008 packets. That means we are nearly 8 or 9 months waiting instead of the typical 3-4 months?

so nice to meet all of you again...

Will and Mae

The processing of the payment varies at each service center. You are still early in the game so dont get too nervous just yet. wink.gif Once your check is cashed you can register with uscis website for updates.

The USCIS processing times noted on their webiste are just there to cover their butts. The VJ timelines are a much more accurate depiction of what petitions they are currently processing.

good luck

I just looked at my packet last night and saw that i didnt add my marriage certificate with my maiden name on it got my divorice decree but has my married name on that. Think that is going to cause a problem I have the marriage certificate i never changed my name back to my maiden name but if they needed that why wouldnt they sent me a letter to tell me. Oh this may take longer now. dont know what to do if I should call or just send it in. Cause my birth certificate has my maiden name.

Most likely you will be asked to have a copy of your marriage certificate because it is your legal proof of name change. The chances of it actually reaching your file if you send it in are very slim. I would just have it ready and wait for an rfe. Sorry. sad.gif

Sara, nice to see you have some more good news. Still nothing on the expedite? I think you're right, the fact that they asked for the supporting evidence this time must mean something. Remember how strange I thought that was the first time that they didn't? This would certainly explain it. Keeping everything crossed for you as always. xo my dear friend

I can only imagine how difficult it is to see all these others approved, Sara. Nobody would blame you for taking a break from VJ (just make sure you keep in touch with me wink.gif ).

I think it's great that you folks have started this thread so that you are not having to face all the 'good news' that is rightly shared in other threads. Even if you try your best not to take it personally or relate it to you... I know, it's hard not to.

We've discussed this at length, and you know I'm all for the protection of our borders and safety of our citizens but why these checks can't be done in a timely manner with an at least a definitive answer one way or another rather than making people wait years is just unfathomable to me.

The process is broken and needs serious reform. I feel for you all and hope your wait is rewarded very soon.

Hi 6+'ers. I'm so sorry you've had to wait so long. sad.gif Russ and I had to wait years (because of my ex-husband more than the uscis wink.gif ). We've certainly had more stumbling blocks than most and have spent a fortune in travel all over the world just so we could be together over the years.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all well and tell you to try to keep strong. Believe me when I tell you that I know how hard and unfair it all is ..for some more than others wink.gif ... but I also want you to know that when the time does come... all the heartache you are feeling will go away and it will be replaced by more joy than you even expected.

This is the worst of it. Get through this and then carry it with you so that you never take your relationship for granted.

I just want you to know that there is light at the end of the tunnell...even though you may not see it now. I hope you keep supporting each other and that you are able to celebrate with each other very soon.

love ya sara wink.gif

to you my dear friend Sara! You have my shoulders to help you stand!

The disparity of this process both between the two centers and between each couple filing is ridiculous. I can understand and appreciate security checks as well as anyone but the fact that some people have waited this long just for an approved petition with no answers and no accountability for the DHS is just nonsense. They get away with it only because they can.
KimandRussFemaleNew Zealand2008-10-29 10:54:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly '08 filers
The EAD is for as long as your I-94... 90 days from entry. As stated above, you will need work authorization from DHS (otherwise known as EAD filed for at the same time as AOS) to keep working. There will most likely be some time without proper authorization between the two.

I think you'll find that as time passes it's best to hold off on at least putting any deposits down for your wedding... if there's one thing about this process, it's unpredictable. Many here have had to learn that the hard way. wink.gif

And did you guys see - someone in the June Vermont filers had their NOA2 in 57 days!!! I am so jealous. Check out their timeline!

wow.gif

this was an expedite.

Whoever said you wished you filed with CSC... I think you'll find that in a few months you'll be eating those words. wink.gif

Vermont is sure taking it's time sending the NOA1's out right now but if you know your case is there then I wouldn't worry too much. It's happening to everybody. I know it's hard and easier said than done... I remember waiting for that NOA1 like it was 2 and checking my bank account several times a day. wacko.gif

Hopefully they are revamping everything and you'll find your NOA2's a lot sooner than we are! wink.gif Happy thoughts!

In case some of you haven't seen this.... Here's a great link that I found invaluable when I first started here last year. It's a Q & A by a former adjuticator who used to post. He explains the process in detail and it will help answer some of your questions along the way.

dgk, you're going to want to spend some time reading the Guides and the flowchart. All the links you see at the top of the boards will tell you all you want to know. If you visit the Portals link you will be taken to a page listing other US / Costa Rica couples and a visit to the Regional forums will probably answer your question about the address. wink.gif If you need to change it it's relatively easy.

How long the process takes is anyone's guess. Right now it seems people are waiting a while for their NOA1's. And Vermont is taking 3+ months for the petition to be approved... a couple months ago they were taking a month... changes all the time. Yes, it makes us crazy too. wink.gif From there it depends on the Consulate you are dealing with. Each is very different regarding the interview process.

In any case, you've been given good advice... pull up a chair and join us in the waiting room.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly '08 filers
Vermont and California have always fluctuated how long it takes to get an approval (noa1 to noa2). The H1b's have had no real influence on petitions in the past. Deadline is always beginning of April...so it's anybody's guess. There is also the naturalization process to consider ...they are not handled at the uscis but they do make a pit stop. This is the first year only two centers are handling the K1's (vermont and california). Historically, vermont has always been the fastest of all the processing centers but now with only two handling them all...who knows. Last fall (because of the influx) people were waiting 6+ months for this stage... by january, VSC was approving some petitions in a matter of just a couple of weeks. Slowly that time crept back up and now, here we are, 3+ months and still waiting. CSC appears to be moving much quicker than they have in a long time though... good news as it's only really fair. wink.gif The people who process payment are not the same people who adjuticate the petition so perhaps it's just them who are caught up in something else and it wont effect your timeline at all. We are told they process by 'sent' date so I wouldn't worry too much about that NOA1 as long as you know it's there. If I was to venture a guess... I'd say the process is about to speed up for everyone. wink.gif

So nice to see you folks checking in. smile.gif

Gaye, lovely to see you as always my friend. smile.gif I love your perspective on the $$$... things will certainly change! Just so you know, you do not have to apply for AOS before the expiration of your I-94... I know we're all in a rush to move things along but ...as long as you filled the requirement of marrying your status is pending AOS.

We should be filing anytime (paperwork is right in front of me as I type this laughing.gif) but I seem to be procrastinating just a tad! whistling.gif With the new TB requirement we're still debating on whether or not he should just go get it and send the results or send the package and await an RFE.
