Actually it is not allowed for anyone to stay over night in the barracks (he still has a barracks room). So is there a difference when he is married and his wife comes to visit him? You must have been reading my mind, I had the exact same question As I am or will be in exactly the same position as you are and me and my husband are also planning to start the visa process in the States. Can you tell me real quick if and which documents you had translated for your visit? - e.g. rental agreement, work contract? Oh and where was your POE? that would help me tons. @sassasdave I am really sorry that they wouldnt let you visit your wife. It really sucks and is ways unfair. First of all...I had all the documents sent to my husband before I would arrive. (I mean the stuff you will need for the visa. For my visit I asked my work and my landlord to give me a confirmation that I am still working....and I still pay my rent and stuff like that. And I also translated a statement from my current account balance. I would also advise not to bring anything with you what might show to the CBP officer that you intend to apply for the visa. Then you might be denied. My POE was Detroit and they are pretty taff there....but as long as you dont bring anything with you they can take against you you should be fine. I made it through the POE....they gave me a pretty heavy time by keeping asking me questions and checking my whole luggage and stuff like that but I had evidence to proove that I will return to Germany in May etc and finallt I got through. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get through and a CBP was chaising me all the time. But actually they just did their work. In my opinion if you are honest and really dont have a plan in your mind how you can cheat on them they are fine. Despite the fact that some of them give you such pretty mean looks. They also kept asking the same questions over and over again....built failures in it....just to see if I correct them...that was kinda weird actually. I think if you dont take the risk you will never know....but I also think it depends on the country you are from. Turquish people were pulled over right when they got off the plane...and Philiphines had a pretty hard time too.....dunno why ????! Is there a reason for? Hm....it is good to know that there is still an option to visit on a Waiver program. I talked about the visit to my husband again....we are not sure what is better. Because we both think it will be worse to say goodbye again instead of staying there for good. What experiences did you make? It would be very good to visit him, cos then we could set up a flat and all that stuff (he is not able to do that now cos he needs me to be there...the army says). Hi, What about this: I thought about to visit my husband for 2 weeks in Maryland and apply for the Visa (CR1 and K3) over there the same time. So we could make another few pics of the both of us. Because we dont have any wedding pics at all.So it might be important to show a few more pics at the interview Im sure...it is also important to know where I will go to. I dont think it is clever to tell them I have no idea what america is like because I have never been there before. As far as I know Im able to stay in the US for 90 days without a visa. So is it legal if I would do this? After visiting him I would return to Germany go on working and get my life slowly settled down. Waiting for the processing and stuff like that. Greets Isabel Hi Isabel.......Congratulations on the approval Feasibly once assigned a case number at NVC and using the timesavers and James Shortcuts (link in my signature), you can get through NVC in 2-3 months. It all depends on how fast the exchange of bills & forms are and also if there is any holdups with security checks. Remember this is the biggie...what will gain you resident status without having to adjust status like with a K-3. Just in case our K3 also gets approved the next days.....Could we just go with the K3 and do the CR1 besides or should we decide to just take one path? I mean what is the difference if I just take the K3 and enter the US on that visa and go ahead for Adjustment of status with the approved I130 over there? It was "updated" or touched five days later, on March 4, 2006. Since then NO word, no touch, nothing. How do I know it isn't lost? Or the case worker/officer isn't on maternity leave? I'm so sad without him, sleeping alone, missing him every day. It's been .... what? 105 plus days with no word at all. No NOA2. And once we get that we still have a long wait ahead of u! Any movement on the Vermont front? Anyone? Hey dont give up! My NOA1 date is 2/28/06 as well and I got my NOA2 via mail two days ago from Vermont. YEah they have been moving a lot lately. I also thought it got lost, but amazingly they just approved it with any touches at all. The VSC website states they are processing I-130 Dec 24th it was the 17th a few weeks ago. You recently got approved which kinda states the VSC is processing a lot further along than they are posting..... Hi there I send it in February 16th 2006 not 2005. Yes a few other people with a receipt date around February got approved (I130) as well. So they are ahead of time or maybe we just got lucky I dont know. The problem is, filing the second petition causes the first one to lose its place in line and come back to the second one's place in line. My husband has gotten his vaccinations records and he's taken some more to make sure hes cover. my question is, can he go to the doctors with out a form from inmigration (embassy or NVC packets) to take the medical before the vaccinations he's taken get too old and the docs make him take it again to make $$$$$$ and where do I find that info on where to go for medicals.
