I just got a drop off date for the DS230 , and had few more questions. Hopefully all the questions in this thread will be helpful for others who read this later. Okay her are my questions:

-- When you drop off the DS-230 do you get some sort of receipt? Does he have to pay the visa application fee at this time? Just want to let him know what to expect or what to ask for.

-- My SO is going to apply for the police certificate when he goes to Kingston to drop off the DS230. I think getting the "regular" delivery should be fine versus the "3 day express" delivery for us since I'm not expecting an interview date until 4-6 weeks. Thoughts?

Yardies that did/are doing K1 I need some assistance and help re: what's next.

We got the NOA2 last week (2/25) and I'm starting to compile all of the other information that we'll need for the interview, but need just a little help and answers to my silly questions. Your guidance is appreciated, so here goes:

- I know I need to fill out the DS230 and send it to A for him to take to the embassy in Kingston, but when can I start calling to make an appointment for him to drop that off?

- I hear about packet #2 that gets sent to the fiancee in JA, what's in that packet and when should I tell A to start looking for that? He doesn't check his mail regularly only when he's expecting mail, so don't want him to keep going back and forth to the post office unnecessarily.

- All of the information I'm compiling (I134, pay stubs, letter from employer, etc.), do I need to send that to A or can I just bring it with me if I'm planning on going to the interview?

- Is it okay for A to start getting/scheduling the police certificate, non-impediment form and the medical now, or should he wait until we get a date for the interview?

- How do they notify you of the date for the interview? I'm assuming via email, but is that the same email system through USCIS that notified us of the NOA1 and NOA2 or do I need to set-up another email notification through the US embassy in Kingston?

Ok, I think that's it for now, but I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way. Also, if I'm forgetting something, please let me know..... this process is driving me

He's not coming until late Summer (August/early Sept.). He's going to spend the summer with his daughter and make sure she has everything she needs for the next school term. I also start a new job in mid-July that I will need to get use to the new routine this job will bring. So we waited this long a few more months will hopefully fly by.

Hi yardies - Whagwaan?! Well it looks lot a lot is going on -- babies for some, marriage plans for others, visa processing moving along for a few .... I'm sending a big congrats to everyone with good news! I'm on and off on the board -- dealing with a lot of issues at the job and sometimes coming home and logging on the computer is the last thing I want to do. Well I have some good news also --AW and I got our interview date -- May 29th at 7:30 a.m. We are excited and nervous (or maybe I should say anxious). So we are trying to get everything together for the interview. If anyone can point me in the direction of good/cheap drs. for the medical appointment, please PM me or send me a link.

@ JGay -- thank you so much for posting your experience. I think it's helpful to hear real stories of the adjustment period. I agree with a previous post PUT THOSE RINGS BACK ON your fingers. It'll be a constant reminder even when you're angry, when you are not together of the commitment that you made to each other. I also recommend that you and the hubby sit down and watch the movie FIREPROOF. It's a real good movie on how to "fireproof" your marriage. Check out the trailer here http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/. It's awesome and shows you the work you have to put in to build and solidify a marriage. I watched it ON DEMAND a few weeks ago. hola byron, la peticion de tu suegra en el canada no tiene nada que ver con la peticion que haz hecho por tu mujer para los estados unidos paises diferentes leyes diferentes, solo concentrencen en juntar las pruebas que pide inmigracion , como fotos correos y los tickets aereos cuando viajas a colombia eso es muy importante, para ustedes no hay problema de verificar si la relacion es verdadera , pues mantienes mucho en colombia por lo que cuentas ha ha haha bendiciones...

Hola, soy nueva aqui pero espero me ayuden a processar mi k-1 lo mas pronto posible antes q suban las tarifas de inmigraccion.
Mi novio es de Mexico, y voya pedirlo como prometido.
Mi pregunta es la siguiente; estoy embarazada de el y ya a finales de Julio tendre la bebe. Debo mecionar esto en la aplicacion, quizas en como nos conocimos y el resultado etc, o bien no es necesario? ayudaria esto a convencerlos q ya nos hemos conocido y asi lo tomen mas en serio?
la otra pregunta es mi ingreso, el anio pasado hice aproximadamente 17,000 anual solamente, es esto suficiente para demostrar estabilidad economica para los dos? Este anio he estado en discapacidad laboral a causa de mi embarazo desde mayo, afectaria en algo q no he trabajado casi este anio?....deberia quizas buscar a alguien q lo patrocine o bien lo q hice el anio pasado es prueba suficientee ingreso para los dos? HOla bienvenida. Pues leyendo tu historia, quisiera preguntarte primero si eres ciudadana americana. Es evidente que hay una prueba de la relacion y es el bebito que esperas, pero también se tienen que aportar pruebas como facturas telefónicas, fotos de la relacion, cartas, dinero enviado, todas las pruebas que se puedan aportar. El ha entrado a EU con visa de turista? o tu has viajado a verlo? todo eso cuenta, recibos de hotel, pasabordos, etc.

El promedio para pedir un fiancé está en 16.000 anual, pero ahora con lo del bebé pues lo más probable es que te pidan un patrocinio. Eso lo determina el Centro de Servicio donde te corresponda enviar la forma I-129F con todos sus soportes.

Mi consejo es que apliques ahora antes del 31 de julio, y aportes todo lo que te he dicho anteriormente para que puedan evaluar tu situación, también te aconsejo que envíes con la I-129F, el affidavit support I-134 completamente diligenciado, la declaracion de renta (Form 1040), Certificado de Salario e impuestos (Form W-2) de estos anteriores fotocopias del último año. También los Earning statements o pay slips que son los comprobantes originales de la empresa mostrando el salario devengado en su empleo durante el último año. Y por último la carta de trabajo que indique donde trabajas, el cargo exacto que desempeñas, el sueldo que devengas y el tiempo que llevas en la compañía.

Recuerda enviar suficiente soporte de Evidencia de relación para que luego no te llegue un RFE.

DE INTERES PARA TODOS LOS QUE SUS DOCUMENTOS YA ANDAN EN EL NATIONAL VISA CENTER (NVC), este es una pequeña ayuda para los que ya nos han informado del envio de nuestras peticiones a la Embajada en Bogotá. Aqui mostraré como se rastrea por DHL el envio desde NVC a Bogotá:

1. www.dhl.com
2. Select Location: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
3. TRACK
4. Track by Reference
5. Reference: (aqui se coloca las siguientes palabras: EXP (01 ... 31) (JAN...DEC) 2007A, CYCLE (01...) 2007
6. Colocan en la fecha en la que saben que el NVC envio la peticion a la Embajada. Ej: EXP 20 JAN 2007A, ó tambien si no lo encuentran por ahi entonces por este otro: Ej: CYCLE 25 2007. IMPORTANTE: Es mejor colocar las fechas desde Jan 01 hasta la fecha de consulta en mi caso el dia de hoy Jul 19, para que tome todo.
7. Custome Number se deja en blanco, solo se selecciona en Sender
8. y.. TRACK para que busque las referencias.

Agrego un ejemplo en jpg para una mayor comprension. Un consejo: no utilicen Mozilla Firefox para abrir la página de DHL, a veces no lo toma. Utilicen mejor el Internet Explorer.

Aqui les traigo un enlace de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Bogotá, este link contiene toda la información de Instrucciones, Formularios, y cosas que no se permiten dentro de la Embajada.

Embajada de los Estados Unidos en Bogotá - Instrucciones Paquete No. 3

Después de hecho el rastreo por DHL y que haya llegado a Bogotá, aconsejo que esperen por lo menos una semana para enviar por fax las formas OF-169 y la DS-230 Parte I (contiene 2 hojas), y luego los envian por correo certificado, Servientrega es hasta ahora el más utilizado.

Porqué este paso? Sencillo. A muchos de nosotros, no nos ha llegado el paquete No. 3 o lo peor del caso, nunca llega, porque al parecer el servicio postal por donde envían la documentación la Embajada a veces se pierde o no hay nadie en la casa o te llega a las cinco semanas, esa es la realidad. Cuando te contactas con la Embajada para preguntar por tu paquete 3 te dicen si no lo has recibido entonces te envian otro, y ahi se empieza a retrasar las cosas. Por lo anterior, creo que este paso es para acortar todos estos inconvenientes, y dar una seguridad para esperar ahora si el paquete final el numero 4 que contiene nuestra cita.

ok es mi primera vez en este foro y ojala pueda opinar mi experiencia, mi fiance vive en colombia y nos conocimos por medio de un amigo por telefono de vez en cuando nos escribiamos pero no pensamos que la relacion iria mas en serio asi que cuando ya se fue en serio viaje a colombia en octubre y a mi regreso contrate los servicios de una abogada la cual me cobro 600 dolares y me lleno cada uno de los formularios y nos dijo que debiamos tener evidencias y nos dio una lista la solicitud se envio el 5 de noviembre 2006 y nos llego el recibo el dia 5 de diciembre 2006, el 28 de abril 2007 llego la a probacion de la solicitud de visa de fiance enviaron los documentos al centro nacional de visas y el primer paquete llego el 12 de marzo 2007 a mi fiance en colombia solo fueron un formulario el 156 y una forma que debia firmar y enviar de regreso cuando ya los documentos estuvieran completos asi que se enviaron el 30 de marzo 2007 yo envie el affidavid support y algunas pruebas y los formularios llenados por la abogada bastante facil pero ella nos ayudo a organizar las pruebas , el segundo paquete llego el 12 de abril 2007 donde llegaron mas requisitos se llenaron y se enviaron y llego la citra como a la semana para la entrevista el 29 de mayo 2007 mi fiance se presento ese dia pero desafortunadamente lo entrevistaron como mas de 15 minutos le preguntaron de todo habian muchas pruebas pero el le dio por decir que me habia conocido en diciembre del 2005 y la consul pidio pruebas de esa epoca cuando fuimos amigos. y solicito que yo viajara a colombia ok ahora estoy en colombia y la cita es manana alli estare con mi fiance y les contare como me fue no hay muchas pruebas cuando fuimos a migos pues yo no planee enamorarme tiempo despues y por que me iva a casar en colombia pero la abogada dijo que era mas rapido si lo pedia como fiance ojala confiadamente en Dios esta espera valga la pena. pienso que esta visa tiene que haber muchisimas pruebas para que sea aprobada. buenas noches lo que necesiten estoy para servirles ya que pasamos por todo el proceso , lo conocemos mas no sabemos que pasara manana.........

WOW Ruth me dejas sorprendida y de verdad de corazon espero que las cosas se te den, eso si ir bien preparaditos, tengo entendido que las personas que llevan poco tiempo pues para ellos son "sospechosas" y exigen mucho mas que cuando llevan por lo menos mas de un año de relacion, en estos casos es imprescindible la compañia del fiancé, y bueno también he oído que los separan en cuartos diferentes y les hacen las mismas preguntas para saber cuánto es que se conocen y si estan diciendo la verdad. Así que a prepararse muy bien con los nombres de sus familias, fechas de nacimiento, los gustos de ambos, las direcciones y telefonos exactos, todo lo que tenga que ver con relación a su entorno familiar y personal, incluso donde trabaja, en qué, todo eso mija.

Te puedo decir que todavía estoy esperando mi paquete 3... lo que pasa es que me di a la tarea de averiguar si el consulado en Bogotá habia recibido mi caso, y cuando ya me dijeron que si, pues bajé la información desde la página por internet que tienen en línea el paquete de instrucciones para visa k1/k2, llené los formularios y los envié por fax y correo, por favor dile a tu novia que los envie de ambas formas porque yo solo los envie por correo (servientrega) y aunque lo entregaron a tiempo, cuando envié un fax tres días después para saber si lo habian recibido me dijeron que a la encargada no le habían entregado ningun paquete a mi nombre, puedes creer? Enseguida envié fax con la Of-169 y los DS-230, me llamaron inmediatamente de la Embajada a confirmar mis apellidos y a decirme que ya estaba procesando mi cita.

Asi que te recomiendo primero envia fax y luego los papeles por servientrega.

Si chester me acuerdo de vos, y ya has llamado al NVC para saber de tu caso? te recomiendo que lo hagas esta semana, y te ayudo con el rastreo del paquete, vale? Si puedes, intenta hoy de nuevo.

Uff si que van rapido, pero bueno, si tienes abogada yo creo que es la persona indicada para asesorarte y si te ha dicho que se puede pues estar pendientes. Lo que te puedo decir es que probablemente sea un poco mas demorado lo tuyo, ya que por el corto tiempo y lo que me dices de la abogada que tan solo envio una carta explicando como se conocieron ummm es totalmente probable una RFE, que te pidan toda la evidencia de relacion y sostenimiento economico. Esperar la respuesta a ver, es lo que puedo decirte.

Ummm dado el caso puede que te pidan RFE o sea más evidencia, puedo preguntarte qué tanta evidencia enviaron? si desde febrero a mayo se vieron, cuantas veces? llamadas telefonicas? todo eso cuenta, además pues una de las condiciones para aprobar una petición es haberse conocido personalmente por lo menos dos años antes de ser aplicada la petición, esto no quiere decir que son dos años de conocerse, sino haberse visto en persona antes de que pasaras papeles a Vermount.

Byron, luego que salen de CSV van al National Visa Center (NVC) o Centro Nacional de Visas. Allí demora más o menos entre 8 a 15 días en llegar a la Embajada en Bogotá, todo depende del caso por eso dicen que cada caso es diferente porque es asignado a un representante el cual lo verifica y le da un Número de Caso que empieza por BGT seguido de diez numeros, que ese será entonces tu asignación.

Te puedo decir, después que tu caso llega al NVC es un poco más rápido, todos sabemos que el tiempo para recibir una futura visa k1 es de 6 a 8 meses, pero en el caso de Colombia, y las estadísticas nos dicen, que aquí las visas son otorgadas en menos de 6 meses a partir de la aplicación de la I-129F.

Pues si es verdad es desesperante, mira mi novio envio la I-129F el 4 de marzo, y llego a TCS (Centro de Servicio de Texas) el 6 de marzo, y salio de allí remitida para CSC (Centro de Servicio de California), parece que ahora es CSC el encargado de procesar las k1 y las k3 dependiendo del Estado donde son aplicadas. No sé si en tu caso ellos enviaron estos documentos al CSC o si es el mismo CSV el que esta procesándolo y tengo entendido que es el Centro más rápido para estos procesos. Pero bueno, te comento, el plazo límite para que la NOA2 llegue es de 90 a 120 días, asi que todavia amiguito te falta, si se pasa de este tiempo pues entonces es bueno que empieces a averiguar.

A nosotros imaginate nos llegó la NOA2 a los 113 días de haber aplicado la I-129F. Y en cuanto a los precios... mijo, estoy de acuerdo, demasiado altos!!! pero todos sabemos por qué razón es, por unos pagamos todos.

Espero haberte despejado tus dudas, y si alguien más puede agregar algo con respecto a los trámites de los Centros de Servicio sea cual sea, pues bienvenidos!!!

A suggestion that I make to you is to use a "traductor" such as Google to translate English into Spanish and vice versa. They are not perfect but you can get a general sense of what is being said and discussed. Just "Cut & Paste" the words into Google and VOILA....English to Spanish!!

Occasionally they can give a general sense of what is being discussed. Many, many times they mutilate what is said to a point beyond comprehension, though, and that leads to more frustration.

Meowmix en lo que entendi (y esa es una de las fallas que vemos en los traductores) es que infortunadamente al traducir puedes captar la idea, pero si es algo como llenar un formulario se complica porque ya saben que a veces las palabras en ingles tienen diferente significado y nada tiene que ver un "hilo de la rosca" con "seguimiento", porque asi es que traduce cualquier sistema de estos. Cuando a mi me aparecia esto de "hilo de la rosca" yo decia pero que sera eso... :wacko:

ay no, me desanimaba por completo, me tocaba estar preguntandole a mi novio, jajaja :blush:

y a veces se ponia bravito.

LUISH gracias por tus palabras, y pues con lo de NVC el plazo para ellos dar despacho es de 4 semanas, asi que ya pronto estara por salir, y el dia de mañana postearé cómo se puede dar seguimiento a los paquetes que son enviados a las embajadas de los países cuando estos salen de alli.

Gracias ojitos azules, y Craig_karina, pues su ayuda va a ser muy buena porque la idea es que la gente que como yo estamos limitadas al español, no sea un obstáculo para poder entender este proceso que puede ser para nosotros una eternidad :crying:

Yo estoy en el proceso de la visa k1 desde marzo de este año, y ya me están programando la cita para la entrevista :dance:

Visa still at the embassy? what should I do?

Ladies
Need some answers. Our interview was on 2/18/09. The lady told us 4-5 days we should get my husbands visa. We were sent to the DHL window and paid the fee. Up till now we have not recv the visa. When we call DHL we are told "the passport is still at the embassy.". When I check on the DHL website it siays shipment on hold. Has this ever happend to any one before? What do you think?
