queend,
Im very sorry to hear about your husbands denial. My fiancee was initially denied December 30,2009 too. We got the senator involved and we were granted a second interview January 14 (we were given a 221g to bring in additional evidence and we go back February 22 to present our documents). Lagos consulate is a very difficult consulate why I dont know. My only advice to you is not to give up. Call your senator that represents the state that you live in. They will inquire information on why the visa was denied. If that doesnt work many couples on this website have re-filed the same petition or they go and get married and file k3 or cr1. It all depends on you and your SO.Good luck and all the best.

Africa: Sub-SaharanLagos Delay: 221(g)

Girl, it's my congressman that sucks! It felt like I was leading the conversation with the aid. She pretty much refused to take action for 30 days... 30 days!!!! Wow! Maybe I'll just call your senator  J/K. I decided to put my three representatives in play one per week until I have them all involved. Maybe together they can mount as strong a case as Cardin. Then I'll maybe put them in touch with each other so they can exchange notes... Alas, I think I need an attorney too. The logistics are killing me. I am bouncing off the WALLS! It's only been 3 business days, but it feels like 3 weeks.

I'll tell you who the real sucker is: that doggone Asian lady making light of our relationship. She is wasting our time. All her cases need to be reviewed IMO :ranting:

Pman said the other COs seemed reasonable, but this one has 'something to prove.' I read they're rude like that to applicants in the Chinese consulates too. It seems so unneccessary and tacky... Just gimme a 'yes' or 'no', you know what I mean? No need to try to hurt people's feelings with it. That's what really got me riled up. I can't stand it when people abuse their little authority.

Pman's wife,
Girl I dont know whats going on in Georgia but I say that you relocate to Maryland lol. Jokes aside. I dont know why they have to wait 30 days!!!! That is simply ridiculous. Pmans wife why dont you try calling the embassy and speak with the chief consulate officer and also try emailing them. I hope that will help you. I know waiting is very frustrating. In the mean time you have us on visa journey that is here to share your frustration with you. Take care.

Africa: Sub-SaharanLagos Delay: 221(g)

Hi Nwanyioma,

I checked in with both my senators today. They seem cocked and ready to go. My congressman's office was surpised to hear from me so soon and suggested I give the embassy at least 30 days to work. I know it's only been 2 business days

I also checked with DOS and got an earful about the Lagos consulate and their propensity to give out the 221(g) and then neglect to update or finish the cases in a timely manner  . I asked why nobody is reigning them in on this and was told that it is left with the consular officers. I also got a reply to one of my emails saying "Due to the huge volume of cases here in Nigeria, cases on review take about six to twelve months, as soon as this is completed we will contact him."

I was so expecting to have his travel itinerary by now...

Hey Pmans wife,
I told momov31 and Im going to tell you that you two should move to Maryland. Im sorry but your senators suck LOL. My senator Benjamin Cardin was on top of my case. Fiancee denied December 30, 2009, called my senator that same day, got a reply from my senator December 31, and days later got a call from Lagos consulate for my fiancee return for a second interview. I share your frustration girl. Its not easy. Dont give up and think positive thoughts. Take care

Hello Pman's wife,
So you had the infamous Asian CO? She is so popular on this website (not in a good way). I think that she has her days because when my fiancee went for his second interview, she was pretty much ok (I guess because she knew that we got our Senator involved). Girl now Im scared. Well I hope that shes satisfied with the additional documents that she requested from me and my fiancee. Im really sorry that this is happening. I think that being delayed is the worst thing that can happen to anyone. Its very unfortunate. Im on this website every blessed day to maintain my sanity. I pray that you and your husband have a speedy AP. Take care.

Africa: Sub-SaharanFinally visa approved at Lagos Consulate!!!!!!!!!!
Hello VJ Members,
Its my pleasure to announce to you all that my fiancee's visa has been approved at the Lagos Consulate. This visa journey has been tough. We overcame all odds. My fiancee returned to the consulate at 1pm. His number was called and he returned to the insane Asian CO who interviewed him the second time after we were initially denied the first time. She asked him if he had the documents that she requested, and he said yes and he presented it to her. She then asked When was the first time we saw each other, how long did we stay in Dubai, what i did last weekend? Then she started again to drill him on the emails that were omitted because we were calling each other husband and wife. He asked her "I thought we went over this already"? She continued by saying that American ladies dont address each other as husband and wife unless they are married and he told her that he doesnt consider me to be American since both of my parents are Nigerians. She then said that how does she know that we didnt get married in Dubai? He said that we didnt because Dubai is a muslim country. The Asian CO looked at my fiancee for about 5 seconds according to him, and she asked him if he had his passport. He said yes. Then she typed something on the computer and he gave him a yellow paper telling him that he should pick up his passport with his visa inside next week Tuesday March 2. I recommend everyone going through Lagos Consulate to pray hard and be very prepared and be ready to fight and defend your relationship. I would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me through these trying times especially:

Please reframe from calling me ridiculous!!! I can see u now sitting there in front of your pc thinking you have all the right answers . Your need for wanting to control others postings is way over the top. Your fiance isn't here yet, although your igbo; your American born,( from what I gather ) I don't wish any bad events on your journey; you really need to get off me because even you stand a chance at being used for a greencard. They have people who police these boards so you don't have too. Please relax and control what YOU type on here, worry less about me and what I choose too type. You can't control me!! Who knows one day you might need some advice from me.

I have nothing but love for you; can you learn how too respect others? I truly hope you can.
I wil no longer be answering your typings even if you continue to bash me; that wiil be your choice and that's the only thing that you have control of on here is what you type.

I dont think you have read what others have posted. And from what I see, your alone with all of your negative comments. As stated before, everyone on this website are grown adults entitled to their own opinions as well. If you taking my opinions personal, then simply dont reply. Simple its not by force.Im a Nigerian/American.I come from a culture you obviously know nothing about. Where my parents are from is where Im from. Your lack of maturity are shown on your post. No need to worry about me and my fiancee. I dont need your blessing. Please dont worry about me, because I can care less about you. You need to stop worrying about other being scammed because you got scammed. Im sick of bitter woman like you brainwashing women who are in love because of your misfortunes. Thats nonsense. Well judging from your posts, that leaves me to question: did he scam you or did chase him away? Hmm I wonder. Do me a favor. Kindly rent/buy a Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It seems you have alot of oppressed issues that you need to address. Advice from you? Will never be needed.

I dated a man here in America for a very very long time…only to find out that he was a user. It is not about where the person is from; it really is about what you know about the person and how well you know that person. I am not sure if you wanted to insinuate that people who have foreign spouses/fiancées are/were lonely and likely a target to be scammed…I think that is too general a statement.

I have to agree with Momov31, at least let her have her moment to collect her thoughts…I think that it is important in supporting each other. It was not that what you said was not true but I think that it was just not the appropriate time…no one by any means is saying that you were wrong in the content of what you said it was just too soon. Let us show each other compassion. We cannot fit all people into the same shoes or walk of life.

I didn't know that you only wanted to hear from those that post uplifting words for you. If that's what you wanted maybe you should of mentioned that. I can only post my experience and hope that you will constructively take from it what you can, or ignore it if you feel that you can't benefit from it.

Being that it's not your forum I can pretty much post here as long as I attend to the TOS, remember, your not the only one reading in here, I may of helped someone, my post aren't just for your eyes only it's an open forum so please proof read that.

Mature adults dont take things so personal. The OP fiancee k1 visa was denied. Your husband visa was not denied. Again what does your story have to do with her fiancee's denial? Absolutely nothing. You see the more you respond the more ridiculous you sound. No one is responding or agreeing with your post. Your postings are baseless and has no merit. Key word to the Subject: Visa Denied, not Visa scam. So if anyone needs more proof reading it should be you.

When people meet someone new there is a period of excitement. As you study each other more the excitement wears down and life sets in. Some people are very good at putting on a show that hides their real personality. Some people jump into a relationship crouch first and fail to see anything other than the sweet lies that caused them to make that leap. When you marry someone you have to leap with your head not your crouch. You need to know that person, their ways, their family. It is Nigerian custom to investigate a potential mates family before committing to marriage. They actually hire a private investigator and let them dig through records ( such as they are ) I doubt many of the woman that got "taken" by their spouse did much in the way of due diligence before their leap into marriage. Using the internet to find a life partner is kind of like wandering into a bar in Vegas with a blank marriage license in hand. Some are not going to look at the gamble they are taking and just let hormones take over . then look for someone to blame when they wake up with a stranger. Don't let them get you down. I had the same crowd all over me when I had a denial and one witch who was so proud of her perfect relationship is now among those sleeping alone. Hold your head up high and gather the information that helps you though this the rest is just trash talk.

Nigeraorbust,
Very inspirational. So true. I wish that others can relay to your post.

Nobody posting or reading your post in this public forum can predict your outcome. I'd never try too, however when you do post be prepared for people to also post on your topic. Weither it be 3 Angry men, Mary that had a little lamb or a woman that's trying to help.

The petition has been denied; I don't think the Embassey can look at your husband and just deny him without just cause. Sometimes people won't say what you want to hear only!!! I really am trying to support you by making you aware of another side to this journey, now if you choose to be upset and stuff, that's your cross to bear.

All the best to your situation!!!

I think we are all adults on this website. You are entitled to your own opinion but there is a way it can be addressed. The poor woman's fiancee visa was denied. What does your mishaps have to do with her denial? Have you read others posting on this forum? People have posted words of encouragement and advice and they expressed their condolescences. You have yet to do that. Your the only one who has selfishly posted your mishaps about how your husband did this and how your husband did that which is highly irrelevant in her situation. Why dont you recommend to Captain Ewok the site administrator to have a pinned forum on how beneficiaries scam USC? Put yourself in her shoes and not be one sided.Express your sympathy, provide words of encouragemen and move on. Like I previously stated you need to proffread your posting before submitting. It seems that YOU cant handle constructive criticism.

no worries, my wife is on centerlink payments and it has no affect on a US visa, except if you make a trip to the states make sure and put payments on hold or you will hear about it when you get back and have to pay back any money while your out of the country and they may even try and penalize you a fortnight payment.

Hello vj community!

Well I am up to the medical exam part of my application but I have a problem. I saw my gp and he couldn't get my vacination record and told me to get them from the places I had the injections. Probalem is my family moved around a lot when I was a kid and the primary school I went to was shut down years ago. My doctor told me I could get a serilogical blood test to see what I have had, but I don't know if the doctor I see for the exam will accept them.

So I guess to boil it all down, I am asking if anyone has sucessfully passed the med exam with a serilogical blood test? Or is there another way to get my records? I would've though Medicare would have them, but my GP said they wouldn't. :(

Thank you for your time!

there is a blood test you can get that will show which anti-bodies you have which is proof of recieving a vacination, cost my wife aboyt $100 but she has a medical card. hope this helps

Aussiewench or Someone else with any information...

Last week my fiance (beneficiary) was sent a letter notifying him that I must fax over a letter asking for an extension of our petition. He went in June for his interview and everything went fine except he needed to get police clearance from Granada. That took 2 months! He finally sent it back to Sydney Sep 25th, then he got that letter (the same week). Of course I immediately faxed a letter requesting an extension and stating my intention to still marry him etc... I noticed that you had uploaded a form for that extension on here. Right now we are waiting. Im on pins and needles. We were all done. They even sent him a welcome packet to the US. Im just wondering, what if that petition expired and i didnt realize it, will they still do it? We were approved for out fiance petition in April. His interview went well (in June) and that stupid police thing took forever!! So now we are waiting to see if they release his visa. I PRAY! OMG! Should I call them? Should I use your form you uploaded? I mean I thought my was fine. I dont know...
Stressing.
What do you think? Everything has gone perfectly up to this point. They didnt say the petition expired just that it was nearing the expiration and for me to fax the letter. Which I did. Any insight?

I agree with faryan's post. I am Indonesian but I always use a family name. I knew some people who does not usually have their family name but for passport, they added their family name using the father's last name on the birth certificate. Or I guess put "N/A" will work on the lack of last name on passport.

This is the answer i received from the Consulate in Jakarta. Thanks for everyone's replies.

You can write her name as follows:

First Name : FNU
Last Name : Ely

...as was mentioned in the K1 forum when I first asked as a possible suggestion...FNU i was told stands for "first name unknown"

Thanks.

Africa: Sub-SaharanToo Young For Marriage?

Hey, I'm in a similar situation, too! I'm 21 and my fiance is 20, and I met him while studying abroad through SIT last spring.

I haven't told my parents that the visa I'm filing for is a fiance visa... not looking forward to that talk. :-/

OMG I did SIT too! Did you love it??? I had the best time of my life. I think the SIT program is so much better than other study abroad programs (judging from my other friends that have gone abroad).

My conversation with my parents about filing for the fiancee visa came about when my father saw the receipt of acceptance that came in. He started asking questions, then talked at me and told me that he wasn't going to get in my way, but he wasn't going to help either. He doesn't think it's very wise. My fiancee's responce: Let's prove them wrong. :D

Africa: Sub-SaharanToo Young For Marriage?
Hi VJers. I'm a newbie around here but I love this resource. It feels great to have virtual support since I have none from my family. I wanted to get a variety of opinions on my situation.

I'm 22 and my fiancee is 25. I met him in Sept. 2005 when I studied abroad in Ghana. We fell in love and started a pretty serious relationship quickly. I left Ghana in Dec. 2005 and have been miserable ever since I've been "home". (I now consider Ghana to be my home since I felt so comfortable there). Anyway, I've been in regular contact with my fiancee and my parents now know about me trying to help him over here but they won't help me at all. I can be cool with that and although their opinion is important, it really is my life and I realize that now.

However, my parents do think I am too young to get married. What do you all think about that? How much does age play a factor in marriage?
