I agree, no impact unless you somehow helped him to conceal dates or some such.

Oh no, not at all

Shouldn't have an impact.

I hope not and thank you very much

On my application, i indicated that one of my parents is a citizen( my.mother). I am a little curious as to how it will affect me because unlike my mother my dad was denied citizenship because he didnt include the dates of his trips correctly or didnt at all include it in the form or interview.

Any imput will be fine please

Hello thanks guys for the answer!! i am still confused about this Selective Service? i called the the USCIS and the man told me i have to speak to SSS, than i did called them and explain to them what's going on, she said thet enter the US couple days before i turned 26 years old i am required to register, i explain to her that i came to the US on K1 visa and i got my green card until 2007, than she said i have to fill out the form and make copy of the proof of visa and mail it to them than i will recieve letter from them to take it with me to the interview!! but in was told from a lot of people i dont have to register? a friend of mine came to the US on 2005 and we are in the same age and he never did and his American Citizen now and he never took anything with him to the interview from Selective Service? this is really confusing, thanks everyone.

If bio was only a couple of days ago, you have to give it time. Once the fingerprints get approved, then you get put in line for an interview but depending on what office you are going to it may be busier and take longer, etc. Since your bio was a few days ago you need to take a deep breath & relax! Nothing out of the ordinary there. Give it time to clear your prints.

My local office is in Baltimore.

Okay i will take a deep breath and relax then.

Your office must be less busy then

I know i am beginning to look like a pest with all these questions but i feel calm when i as them here.

Anyway am i just worrying for nothing when i say i havent received any email or text stating that i am in line for interview or at least my file has been updated after doing bio couple of days ago?

I will definitely shut up once i know an answer because while we are in distinct states they have received letters and/notices after doing their bio couple of days ago like me

We wrote to the Congressmans office and they never got back to us. Do you know if I can do an infopass appointment in our home state, we are going there in just over 2 weeks. I guess you and I are different then because finding out that Bmore location is still on August 2011 is a little funny to me.

At this point I will just wait for whatever comes in the mail.

I also didnt know I had to fill out some form to receive updates via email and text. I thought since I filled that on my form, it pretty much covered it.

I will just wait for updates via mail once again. Cant and dont want to be stressed out about this at all!

I have used this tool to track my I-90 replacment, I-131 Travel Document, N-400 Naturalization. Works ok. I have no complaints.

I used it and I also signed up for case status update emails. I think it's a nice tool and with the email sign-up, you do not need to go and check it all the time; you receive an email when every time an update happens on your case.

I don't go to any web site to look for updates. I just go with the flow and do what the USCIS tell me to do as far as appointments go. I'm not going in for early walk-in biometrics. I'm not in a hurry. It will all happen when it happens. Worrying, fretting and checking won't speed up the process.

In other words, I need to do just that huh(go with the flow?)

By Gods grace everyone that filed 90 days before and after will be interviewed accordingly!

Yes local offices are all different BUT at the end of the day its all in Gods hand!!!

But thank you for the insight!

That was exactly my point. There is no reason to apply for USC on the exact date you became eligible for most people. It hasn't always shown to be that much faster either applying date minus 90 vs date minus 80. My case is progressing smoothly as I applied end of February and will already be interviewing this week. However, I'm pretty sure it'll be another few months before I'll be sworn in while people interviewing after me will be sworn in before me. It's just the way these things go. Would you move to get faster processing. Don't think so :-)

US Citizenship General Discussionn-400- CITIZENSHIP BASE 5YRS

First case: how long as it been since she filed? Filing after the anniversary doesn't make things faster, it just means your case will definitely be accepted, and you can be sure it won't be slowed down by having to wait till after your anniversary fort he oath. Each field office does their own scheduling, so someone in New York may be waiting months and months, whereas someone in Fort Smith, Arkansas (where I had mine) is done in 2 months.

Second case is totally normal, not sure what explanation you are looking for?

None but thanks

You are right about playing it safe as far as filing about a month after your 5 year anniversary BUT i have an acquaintance filed 2 months after and is yet to get an interview date as we speak? Any explanation on that please?!

I also have a friend who filed 90 days before her 5yr (got GC 6/11/2007 and mailed her stuff march 13th 2012 ..did her bio april and awaiting interview letter)

An explanation will be good too :)

US Citizenship General Discussionn-400- CITIZENSHIP BASE 5YRS

Safest bet is to look at your GC and check the 'permanent resident since' date on it. Check if that has been more than 5 years back. If so determine how much time you have spent abroad and if that would jeopardize the date you can file. If not, you can file from the date you became a resident plus 5 years.

If in a hurry, you could file up to 90 days earlier but that hasn't always shown to be use full. In some cases process had to be put on hold to make sure candidate was not sworn in too early. Putting application on hold is usually not an issue but could delay your case after all. My sense is its better to wait for few months.

I dont know about others but i was eager to file to get it going...had i known what i know now i would have waited..but oh well its in Gods hands

US Citizenship General Discussionn-400- CITIZENSHIP BASE 5YRS

Because you need to be married a USC for at least 3 years. Since you're divorced you are not eligible to apply based on marriage (3 year rule). Looking at your timeline you aren't a GC holder for 5 years or longer either, unless you received your GC sometime before Jul 2007. In that case the -90 day option might apply to you. However if your physical presence counter has ever been reset, a later date applies.

Have you travelled abroad within first 90 days of arriving in the US?
Have you ever travelled for more than 6 months in one year?

These are the kind of questions you need to ask yourself to determine if physical presence was the issue.

I don't really know why people are so eager applying within this 90 day window, to be honest. Elections perhaps?!

US Citizenship General Discussionsending application 1 day before eligibility date

Hi all,

I'll be applying for citizenship next week 05/03, I already have my package ready and I wonder if I can send it one day or 2 before I'm eligible to apply so USCIS receive it at exactly the same day I'm allowed to apply.

Let's say I send the package 05/02 or before so USCIS receive it on 05/03 , also the date on the application will be earlier than the eligibility date,is it OK? or USCIS will consider it as filing early.

please give me your opinions

Oh and by the way too, wishing you good luck on your journey

You're not gaining anything by mailing it a few days early. Wait a week or two as other posters have suggested and then it won't be rejected for filing early. Then you would have wasted your $$ at teh post office and you'll have to do it again

This is one of the requirements they are very strict about. It is possible that you may want to consult with an immigration lawyer as not only could this earn him a denial, it could cause them to revoke his current status.

Hey everyone! I passed my test on Tuesday but got my oath delayed for a week. The officer I talked to when scheduling my interview said that I can do test and oath the same day so I was excited but in the end I got a paper stating please come back in the week for oath. I think thats because I relocated to a different state after filing the application since IO asked me a lot of questions such as when did you leave the old state, where do you currently work, when did you start there and such. Hopefully they won't tell me to come back another day next tuesday;)

Hello.. can i ask a question?
Is the Fairfax VA as back logged and/or slow as depicted by other people's experience?

My case is getting put back for fingerprint :crying: :crying:

There are some people that havent been scheduled for interview or even be in line.

I am also a March filer and I was advised to wait for another 2 weeks before moving forward with callin USCIS.

I was also told that it depends on your local office. Some have low volume with low oath ceremony and vice versa.

I told someone in the March filer forum to just hold on tight like I am doing and see what the remaining 19 days have for the rest of us.

Hello, all. First time post in this forum but have a quick question. Wife had bio in Las Vegas on May 7 and we still have not heard anything about the interview. I know several people heard within a month after the bio. Is there anywhere I can call to find info out or just sit and wait it out? I am going to scour for back posts now but thought maybe someone might be able to help me out. Thanks. We filed on March 26 and everything started out smoothly, seems we may have hit a slowdown in the process. I will add to the March filers our info today as well.
