CanadaDS-160 and DS-156 Forms
We are going through the packet 3 requirements and proceeding to send in the required forms. As we started to do the DS-160 we noticed it seems to be a smooth online system, we got done and got a nice confirmation with digital passport photo and bar code. Seemed straight forward

We did the online DS-156 form online and it seemed like we did exactly the same stuff twice, got another pdf with barcode.

So did we do this same thing twice accidently, or did we do the right thing and it just happens to be very similar

CanadaIs getting Medical within 1-2 day of Montreal Interview realistic?
I can't seem to dig up an old post, but my Fiance is trying to get the medical and the interview done on the same trip to Montreal. She is being told by the medical she needs to complete the physical 4 days before the Consulate interview. Is it possible to shrink that time between interview and physical and send in the results of the medical "post" interview? Or is it best to just do the physical, sit around in Montreal for 4 days then interview?

Suggestions? Anyone with previous experiences here?

Hi all,

I apologize if I'm not posting this in the right place, but I'm having trouble finding a good forum to ask questions regarding Canadian immigration since the RoadToCanada forum is down (what happened there??).

I'm presently in the middle of removing the conditions on my permanent resident status here in the US. I entered on a K-1 Visa from Canada to marry my US citizen husband, and have been living here for over 2 1/2 years now. We have talked about moving back to Canada at some point, and I'm trying to gather information to help us make that decision.

My question right now is regarding my husband's son. He's a US citizen and 14 years old, and lives with us 10 months out of the year. Assuming we get his mother's permission for him to move to Canada, if I sponsor him and my husband (and our daughter), will my stepson be allowed to stay and work in Canada once he's 18? I'm having difficulties finding information on this anywhere on the official Canadian immigration website. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I went in the morning and waited about 1 hour. IO asked all those Yes/No questions. Passed civic questions, writing, reading with flying color. I/O congrats me for passing the test. Asked me to wait outside for decision. I thought in my mind I am 100% approval, I just want to see the oath letter from the IO.
She handed me a letter check box " decision cannot be made at this time " I feel hopeless the moment I saw it :crying:

Now read about this check box on VJ, this is a time sucker. It is really a killing for me as I am going to use the certificate for my wife case F2-A. Yeah, I am really pissed :angry: :angry: :angry:


Maybe her boss isn't around and she needed his approval...let's hope and pray its nothing u were unaware of..it will be fibe

yes, they said USCIS normally schedules you for an interview around the 60 day mark of your bio..
but it depends on how busy your local office is too..

In the same boat here...I was advised to wait another 2 weeks so we will see after that

Hang in there. I sent a letter to my senator and she practically sent me the same reply that I read on line to me.

I can and will only pray at this pioint cause some people didnt get any letter, let alone oat ceremony till 2 months after...:unsure:

*sigh* -_- still nothing.. i need to go back home around july/august.. :(
i noticed that most n400 applications here in chicago that are from k1 visa are slower than other visas, unless of course you filed passed the 90 days like a year or so..
a friend of mine's application took 10 months from her priority date to oath ceremony, another one took 7 months.. :wacko:
called the USCIS and like everybody else's experience they just basically read whatever it is that i see on the uscis tracking tool..
if my IL will not be here today, i will be contacting senator durbin tomorrow.. and if 2 weeks still no IL, i will be making an infopass appt.. -_-

Daruma07 good luck for your interview on Monday. I will be eagerly waiting to see your experience, as you are in same KC office as mine. If you live on Kansas side, there is an oath on June 29th..I hope you get scheduled for that. Do ask the IO if you can get scheduled for that oath cermony.


At least your interview is June as well..I dont even know when mine is!

My spouse applied for her citizen on 03/14/2012. We sent our package to Dallas, TX lockbox and our field office is San Antonio,TX. Our biometric appointment was done on April 10, 2012.

My interview was yesterday, and I passed! Yay!

Here's how it went in details. As you can see, my local office is San Francisco, and I would advise to be there about 15 minutes before your appointment because the building's security is serious. It took us about 10 - 15 minutes just to get through the door. My appointment was at 3.15PM and I was told that it is the last appointment of the day. We ended up waiting for about an hour, and they were closing the office down and stuff so it was getting scary since we were the only people there. I went into the interview around 4.15PM.

The interview itself took only 15 minutes. First the IO asked for my passports, green card and ID. Then he went through every line of the N400 application to verify that all information in it was correct. When he got to the part about my spouse, he started asking questions about what he does, how long he's been at his job, etc. Then he asked who else lives at our house, and I told him it was just us plus three rabbits. He seemed to get a kick out of my answer and loosened up a little bit, which was nice. He then asked to see the originals of my husband's birth certificate and our marriage license. He also took our copy of the 2011 tax return for the file since I've filed our taxes after submitting the application packet.

Then we went through the civics questions, which were:
How many years do we vote for US Representatives?
How many voting members are in the House of Representatives?
In what month is the Presidential election?
Who is the Chief Justice of the US?
Who is the Father of our country?
What wars did the US fought in the 1900s?

Then I had to read "When do we vote for the President?" and wrote, "We vote for the President in November."

Then he printed out the interview results paper and checked the "congratulations" box, and told me to expect the oath letter in 3-4 weeks. Then I asked him when generally to expect to attend the oath ceremony after the interview and he said around 6 weeks after the interview.

That's it, folks. I am so glad this all is coming to an end. Thank you all for going through this together. Good luck on your upcoming interviews. My husband and I will definitely celebrate after this is all over, we'll probably have a party or something. Anyways, have a great long weekend, everybody.
