K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary 2010 Filers -- I-129F -- VSC
I used to be a Front Desk rep at a large hotel chain, but I recently quit my job so that I could free up enough time to travel back and forth to visit Joey in the US. I've moved home with my parents to stay with them and put in as much time as I can before coming to the US permanently. Given that we cannot travel for our first year here, unless we submit forms to release us for travel. Right now, I'm at Joey's place in Maryland, visiting for a few weeks, maybe longer. It's helping us pass the time between NOA1 and NOA2 which we hope to hear back from in the next month or so.

Ilana, a mod should come by soon and clear that up for you. No worries. On Joey's divorce decree there is an official seal with the appropriate signatures. Perhaps the signatures of the proceeding judge will be effective enough if there is no seal or stamp on his.

I read one of our posts where someone said that according to IGOR's list there are 51 petitions from VSC for Feb? What exactly is IGOR's list, what does it tell/do for us and where can I find said list? I'm curious >.<

Heyas! Joey (American) and I (Canadian) are also February filers!

Good luck to everyone. We're super anxious ourselves :)

Quick question, would anyone know what forms I should begin to gather while we're waiting for the NOA's to bounce around? From what I've read so far (here and there) I'll need to have my police check and an extended birth certificate (not the typical wallet sized one). Any others I should be prepared to gather?

Thanks!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes Fiancee Have to Fly from Country Where Visa Issued
Thanks everyone for the replies.

I'm not sure the CFO applies here. My fiancee (a Philippine citizen) has been an overseas workers in Hong Kong for 5+ years. She already has a passport.

The CFO website says: "Under DFA Department Orders No. 28-94 and No. 11-97, Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals are required to attend the guidance and counseling program as a pre-requisite to the issuance of passport. "

I am a US citizen. We have not married under Philippine law. We are going to the Philippines for 1 week to visit her parents before heading to America.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes Fiancee Have to Fly from Country Where Visa Issued
When flying to the USA, does one's fiancee have to fly from the country where the K-1 visa was issued?

In my case, my fiancee is obtaining her K-1 visa through the US consulate in Hong Kong. But, she and I will be coming to the USA from the Philippines.

TIA,
Michael.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Interview in Hong Kong over, but
Well, the interview (first one?) for my fiancée (in Hong Kong) is over. BTW, my fiancée is a Filipina working in Hong Kong.

From her description of the process, it sounds like they ran her through the ringer.

They are being particular about her birth certification, specifically that she does not have a copy issued post-2004 that uses (I believe) increased copy-security protections. Even though the issuing agency (NSO, Philippines) indicated that they stand by their older issued certificates.

So a few more weeks (hopefully) and we'll see what's next in the process.

I have heard also about "Proof of Singleness" required of beneficiaries, and I'm inclined to have that document requested as well even though my fiancée has never been married. But, it is a terrible hardship to acquire this latter document because it requires her mother or father traveling 10-12 hours to Manila, since the person requesting the document must do so in-person ---- or a satisfactory proxy.

I don't want to delay the visa issuance again, but I'm more inclined to accept additional delay rather than have her parents take a few days from work to travel to Manila. I'm currently reviewing the www.e-census.com.ph website, which indicates that "Proof of Singleness" can be requested through the website. We shall see.

Any ideas/thoughts/etc. people wish to share would be most appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Approved

Be sure to report back if she gets held up when trying to leave the Philippines for not taking the CFO class.

Won't be a problem for us because we are leaving for the US from Hong Kong. Didn't want to risk it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Approved
After a minor delay to get a new birth certificate, the K-1 visa has been approved. I will be leaving for Hong Kong on Thursday where we get Vivian's things together, visit her parents in the Philippines and then head back for the states early May. Pinch me pinch me. After all the waiting, it somehow doesn't seem real. Thx to all for your help.

My fiancée did not receive her Valentine's Day package by Friday as I had anticipated!! She just got it this morning, and as it turns out, it had arrived at her school on Friday but some clerical error prevented it from being given to her. At least it was no fault of my own!

As a side note, she intends to bring her dog with her, as she loves the thing and realizes that no one in Thailand is going to take care of it like she has. Are any of you bringing pets along for the ride?

Something to note is that several filers (Oct and pre-Oct.) received RFE's on Friday Feb. 13th, so although there was only one approval registered on the site, there was other work going on. As well, you can see a fairly large number of July filers who are left have RFE's, suggesting that their filers have already initially been reviewed and are awaiting the petitioner's action.

I think we're going to have some REALLY good news today and tomorrow! Just a feeling.

All the best!

Duplicity is a fun game but it certainly burns when you get caught. I think it's a stage, somewhere around adolescence. My students engage in it on a daily basis. They love to trick each other, and though they are not even in high school yet they are beginning to use their sexuality as one of the tools. They lie to teachers probably half the time. Sometimes they do not even need to lie but do so out of sport. Interestingly enough, most do respect authority but it must be true. Many teachers in my district fail because they lack true authority.

When I read several posts throughout the internet universe, there seem to be the same dynamics in play. Lies, cheats, and viciousness abound. Fortunately we find islands of threads, such as our own that support others, play fair, etc. Such is the world.

I see Oct. 7th approvals and I begin thinking about how mine is only about 2 weeks after that date. I am getting excited, even if the wait ends up being several more weeks. This has been a fun journey because there waaay more than a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. Wow, being apart from my fiancee has made me appreciate her much deeper.

The documents I am collecting also are phone logs, used envelopes and any other proof of ongoing relationship. She has already gotten the certificate that confirms she is single (needed for Thailand), and she is preparing to get the police certificate and medical.

Our intention is to have nearly everything ready for Packet 3, so when it arrives from the Consulate, we can send back immediately. On average it's a month from then till the interview, and we really wish to have the visa by May.

I have a feeling we'll only see a couple of petitions approved today. Perhaps next week the pace shall pick up.

We're right on target folks. More Oct. this week as well as this coming week. It's been moving relatively incrementally. Still on the first of October.

How's the document collection been coming? I am just about ready to send all to my fiancee. An original of NOA2 is not needed for the interview, correct?

We have seen each other in the past 6 months, however it has only been for a few weeks at a time over the past three years. When I said "apart" I meant living separately on the other side of the world.

I appreciate the encouragement of others. I feel fine, it's my fiancee who is a bit down. We talk every day and do video chats weekly. Thank goodness we can keep in touch for so cheap.

Valentine's week is going to have some surprises!

My fiancee has let me know that the past two years and nine months apart have taken their toll on her. She does not wish to wait any longer, however she cannot leave Thailand till mid-July due to a contract. She is begging me to go see her during our Spring break, even if just for a week. I would love to go, yet I am weighing costs and other factors. I know she can wait another five months, she's just seemed to have lost most of her patience.

An NOA2 may be just the reassurance she needs right now to get her through the next few months. That sounds quite cliche, but I do sincerely believe it.

Take care all VJ couples.

I disagree Laura,

I believe a majority of the 20 or so people remaining from each month (March 08 onward) have either

1. received NOA2 or RFE but not updated their timelines
2. have dropped out of the process but not updated their timelines

And that makes sense that a good 15% of the people would neglect to update their timelines. That's not to say none of those listed are actually still waiting, as there are a few who are, but just a few and I believe their delay is due to extenuating circumstances.

Would it not be a cruel twist of fate for VSC to skip over October and begin adjudicating Nov. and Dec. filers before us?

RBAL_TN and I agree that we should begin seeing Oct. approvals within the next couple of weeks. My prognostication last week was that some folks would have a lot more to celebrate than just Valentine's Day the week after next. Let's see how accurate it is.

There could be an October filer approved by expedite. There have also been recently people who claim they were approved in less than 100 days. Without some compelling evidence, I am not apt to believe them: Like anywhere, there are dishonest folk here too.

As of now, no regular October 2008 VSC filers have received NOA2.

It's fast approaching six months since my fiancee and myself have been together. It'll be at least 11 months by the time we're together again. We shall have spent over half of our relationship, five years total, apart from each other. Long-distance relationships certainly have their own merits and challenges, which we've come to know. My father jokes "Waiting is the easy part. Wait until you're together, then the real challenges shall begin."

We were hoping for arrival by mid-July for a wedding soon after. We'll see when these NOA2's start coming in if that's still possible.

One enormous factor is that the speed of the adjudicator could vary quite widely. Some could go through a single box in half the time as others. So we both pick up October boxes, but you are a week behind me in picking it up and you are going to still be working while I've moved on to the next box. Government contract jobs. Someone please search for the want ad for USCIS offfice in Vermont. I was tempted to apply there after my fiancee gets here and give three years of service to ensuring higher quality work. I would be willing to do that to help other families.

All the best.

You are thinking the same as me, too, Laura. Once a month has reached over 50%, the next month begins.

I was just thinking about the extrapolations that were done a couple of months ago RBAL_TN. I believe you were saying the average would have been around mid-January (90 days out from NOA1), and I was scratching my head asking "How'd you come up with that?"

At that time I was thinking mid-March, at the earliest, to mid-April. Now I believe our thinking is aligned; October will begin popping mid-Feb to mid-March.

Happy wait.
