Y'all must be reading my mind today, i was just talking to my friend about this same subject earlier. I really have my heart on getting married in JA, but of course with the visa process, since we are planning on doing the K1 that cant happen. We have discussed having a NONLEGAL ceremony on the beach in May( which is what i want, i want to have my friends fly down to be there) and then just going the justice of the peace route when he actually gets here. I have heard others mention that you have to be careful with the nonlegal ceremony route( im not sure why) im thinking that if you showed pictures( that the Embassy, may think it is a legal marriage and deny yoU????? Im just grasping at straws here) Can anyone clarify for me? ( i mean obviously, i wouldnt be stupid enough to present those photos at my interview, so im just wondering.

I'm not sure about the details of a NON-Legal ceremony but i'm guessing folks are saying "be careful" cause it probably has something to do with not wanting the embassy/ INS to think you got married in JA if your supposed to be doing a K-1. Not really sure, but yeah....I know what u mean about wanting to have some sort of ceremony or recognition in JA, even if it's not the "real" thing. LOL

We're doing the JP route here and then going back down later this year to celebrate with my family and his. We decided not to do anything big up here cause there really wouldn't be anybody at the ceremony on his behalf. Besides, I'll be ready for a vacation/ honeymoon by then!

Hello everyone

I am doing the non legal ceromony in Oct. If anybody have any do's or don'ts that they heard please share. To be on the safe side we are going to do it after the interview.

JSKI - do you have an interview date yet? Or are you just hoping they will be on the ball by then?

I DON'T lol I don't think Jski's fiance has dropped off the DS-230 yet. Remember they had to reschedule..

Yeah Mich....we're having it on 8/11, after I moved the date like 3 times. headbonk.gif laughing.gif

I was really planning on wearing a black & white sundress since it was at our local JP's office but my sister talked me into going to the $99 sale at David's Bridal and I found one. LOLLL Not sure if i'm using it for the JP or for when we renew vows in November back in JA, but for that price it didn't really matter. laughing.gif It was originally $599 and my mom said...why not?

I went looking last weekend? At our David's bridal they only had one $99 dress and it was awful so I guess I missed out. lol The dress I tried on was $349 and it's perfect, but I still don't know what I want to do. Either a small wedding on a boat or just go to JP and head back to JA later like I planned... Well see...I gotta get my baby here first. lol

LOLLLL...yeah we gotta get him here soon, too!

I got lucky with our $99 sale cause they still had about 4-5 dresses left in every size. Granted, they were very elegant, yet simple dresses but still served the purpose. I picked one that was strapless - kinda fitted at the top and then it's fuller from the waist down. I only tried on two so I'm glad it already fit. LOLLL

Maybe I'll be down there picking up Ray while you guy's are down there in Nov.....lol I'm sure the dress you got is stunning.

I don't know the answer to your AOS question, so I guess one of the vets will be around soon to answer. sorry, I'm a newbie in that aera.

Wakey,

I know last summer I had dropped like 33lbs. Man you couldn't tell me nothing. I had to go out and purchase new clothes. Man did I feel good. But I allowed stress with school and this visa process to start eating away at me and as soon as swimsuit season was over the pounds started creeping back. I haven't gained it all back but I'm well on my way unless I do something fast. Yeah I want him to be able to say WOW! when he sees me at the airport upon his arrival.

I did same thing last year before I got sick and afterwards I think I threw myself a pitty party and put my weight back on too. We can do it. We just have to stick with a plan. Don't stop Get it, Get it.

I need to get back on track myself and QUICK!! I lost 50 lbs over a period of 5 months. I have fallen off the beaten path and put back on a few lbs sad.gif
I now have to get back to business and quick!!

SOnshyne, how did you manage that, because my SO is just to dang skinny for me and i dont want to look like here there BIG girl, when im next to him...LOL

I changed the way I eat, no more soda, candy, chips, cookies, fried foods ( ohmy.gif NO FRIED CHICKEN??) that and the no soda thing was the biggest hurdle for me, but I did it!! The thing is you really need to eat 3 meals a day something I never did, I usually ate once a day.

Also watch your sodium intake as well as calories and sugars.

I lost about 45lbs six years ago and kept it off by making sure I actually EAT 3-4 meals a day & exercise. I used to be about 215lbs back then and it took me a good 6 months to get down to where I am now at 160lbs. Granted, I'm not "thin" but it felt good trying on wedding dresses in size 12! LOLLLLLL

Another big help is going from "regular" sodas to diet and trying ur best not to constantly overeat. I have a stair climber at my house which really helped during those boring winter months, while trying to get through the Visa process. laughing.gif

Surreal night.

Remember how I told you guys my hubby ran in high heels for Hannah Montana tickets for my daughter last year?

Tonight, my daughter and I was watching the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Best Worlds Concert Tour on the Disney Channel. They showed scenes from the high heel run. My husband came running by on the screen. It was so crazy.

Never in a thousand years did I think I would see my husband on the Disney Channel. Now, we have to go out and buy that stupid video.

If you want a good laugh, we found the whole race on YouTube. He's near the end. They will focus on a woman in the middle of one scene. He is two races after that. He actually wins that one so you'll see him come right by the camera. The race after that where he is really wobbly is freakin' hilarious.

You would have thought we were sippin on something. lol DC is famous for Go-Go music. There's this guy name Chuck Brown that has been playing Go-Go since MY MOM was young and he's still going strong. When I was in JA, Ray was like turn that ####### off. That made me just pump up the volume. LMAO I like messing with him. He thinks I'm off the hook. He just called me to say good-morning and to tell me he was at the beacj chillin and taking in some cool breeze. I pushed buttons in his ear because I can't stand to hear him tell me he's at the beach and I'm in this hell hole working my buns off. mad.gif

It may be to late now, but I left a lot of my clothes and shoes in JA. When I was there last month, I just wore most of what I left. Especially if you like shoes, it's easy to leave those. Are you packing one bag because of the baggage cost now? I was watching the news the other day and they talked about the new baggages charges. There was a guy that said it's a good idea to buy those strink bags and it makes things a little easier to pack.

He said he only wore them to dances and parties and took them off right after. And, honestly, I would not have guessed that. But, it did (and still does) gross me out!

We did have issues where I literally pulled them out of his hands anytime he took off a pair of jeans he had worn once he came here and threw them in the wash. Which is also why I question every time he sniffs his clothes. I just don't roll that way.....never have, never will. I wear and then I wash.

I don't think this is just a JA thing, jeans are one of those items some people feel comfortable in wearing more than once before they wash them. Also, since most of us have more clothes than we could ever wear in a months time, this probably isn't an issue wth us. But, ask a teenager, or a college student and they will tell you that YES, they wear their jeans more than twice before washing.

Are you guys ready for my answer?

Andre once told me he washed his jeans a couple of times a year. Yes, I said that.

I agree, when I was in JA, last month, I washed the bed linens by hand mind you, every other day, because I couldn't stand to sleep on sweaty sheets. It was soooooo hot, that I had to take a shower 3 times a day, so I cannot fathom how anyone could not wash jeans after wearning them twice. Now again that is me.

It is too hot there.

I've worn jeans twice before because after I wash them, they are so freakin tight I can't get my ####### in them.

This is foolishness. Enough is enough...time fuh stap chatting han tek action. You don't haffi settle for this! Have you gone to the MD. courts to request sole custody yet? Also, you need to start putting your foot up his a$$!!! Fight fiya wid fiya. If ever there was a battle tuh wage here it is...nuttin' comes before your Baby's welfare! You need to start walking with a tape recorder and if possible tape his harrassing phone calls and threatening words.

This may take leg work but it does have a solution...file a restraining order on his ### until you are able to go to court for the custody issue.

Gill;

I'm just waiting for my court date. There's a temporary custody agreement in place. The courts where I am is so backed up and I've tried to change the date twice since July. Spoke to his dad last night and found out why my ex was in such a foul mood yesterday (like I give a damn)...his woman he got living in his newly built house in Jamaica is CHEATING on him. I was like good. He was with her for years before I found out. That's why he and I never went to Jamaica together in the 11 years we were together. I know I have a fight on my hand, because his lawyer belongs to some advocay group that's fighting for equal right for fathers. Girl, this is just one big head.

Update of work:

The HR Director is suspended for 2 weeks and my co-worker for 4 weeks. They went back and looked at my co-workers e-mails and IMs between her and the HR Director. How stupid they were to use the work computer to chat people's business. I saw some of the chat logs to confirm things I had discussed with the HR Director about my professional goals and I told her about my grandmother being sick in Jamaica and about my SO...well they were chatting up a storm.

Well, that's one thing off my back for now. Lets see how the rest of the day play out.

Lawns, No matter how big or small the battle will be, it's worth fighting. Do it and get it over with so that you, marcel and the baby can get on with your lives.
