rofl.gif Islandwoman, I sure hope that's true and coming real soon. That would be great if our interviews ended up on the same day...
I called the 202# yesterday and the lady said "Oh you live in Bowie, so do I" I wanted to say, well can you hook a sista up! Nothing yet. I'm still waiting for them to just update receipt of the DS-230.

Morning all, and welcome Kim - you have definitely found the right spot - No matter how crazy you think you are, you are guaranteed to log in here post it, and have someone else go "Oh, me too!" The yardie thread is the sanity in this crazy process.

Lawny - sorry to hear with your friend, but glad to hear she straightened it out - as hard as it is, sounds like she made the right choice.

I just woke up - I am in the middle of a monster project at work, and my laptop died in the middle - so I borrowed one of the admins who is on vacation, and managed to get her AT&T link working.

Morgan Heritage played last night - Such a good show! I didn't think I could go, but then we had server issues and my universe won't be ready till after 2 today = So I sweetly offered to start work late so that I didn't charge too much OT on the project whistling.gif

Morgan Heritage had a singer with them from Hawaii - her name is Irie Love - What a wonderful voice! I am off to Google her

Mawnin yardies,

Sus: Morgan Heritage, Irie love and LAZA from LMS are going to be here in Maryland at the Crossroads Night Club on Sunday, July 27th. I guess their making their rounds. http://www.crossroadsclub.com/

Ladies,

I am at my wits end. I haven't been around the message board for a bit because I guess I was hoping I would have some answers or stuff would work, etc. It has been over two weeks since I've talked to my SO and I don't know what is going on or what has happened. He won't or can't take my calls. I've called cousins of his and friends. They were hopeful at first and said don't worry. One of his friends says he keeps trying to call him but is not getting through. I've asked his cousins to get me more contact numbers and they haven't called me back in a couple of days. I just don't know what to think......except that this has happened before.

We've known each other for over five years. We filed for a fiance visa back in 2003 but very tragically his oldest son was killed in an accident and my SO lost it which is understandable. He was all consumed with caring for his youngest son after that who was only 14 at the time and he cut me out and we broke up. During the last five years we reconciled and we were both ready to get married and make a life together so I filed for the fiance visa again.

Now we were as far as receiving Packet 3 from the embassy. My SO mailed in a form which I later found out was the wrong form, hence we still haven't gotten an interview date. Basically, my last conversation, as brief as it was, was that he sent in the wrong form. He didn't believe me. We made a date to talk later to go over the papers over the phone and make sure he gets the correct one sent off. He didn't answer my call. The next day I got ahold of him but he was busy so he said he would call me after church the next day. The next day he did not call and ever since I haven't gotten through to him.

I just can't believe we are so close and once AGAIN it seems he is losing it. More hurtful is that I just plain don't know what is going on. We didn't argue. No big drama.

May I request a prayer for peace with the issue and things to work out to God's plan. I honestly believed it was part of God's plan that he and I were together again. I haven't completely given up hope but it doesn't look good either.

Thank you all.

Hi, I am sorry to hear you are going thru this right now, but it seems that you are unable to get through to him. Could it be that his phone is not working. Has anyone physically seen him? You stated that he is involve with his church, can you try calling the pastor to see if there is anything that he//she knows. It could be something minor, so don't jump to conclusions before you have heard back from family members and friends that he is physically okay.

least but not last it now may be the time for a trip to talk face to face. You know him better than any of us on this VJ site, five years is a long time to be involve with someone and for them to just disappear without any discussion.
Yes, maybe what you may find out is not what you want to hear or see, or it maybe that your presence is needed and required to continue this relationship.

But rememember no matter what decision you may make, our prayers and love are there for you. We will laugh with you or cry with you when this is resolved, but remember we are backing you no matter what.

Be Bless
Roxcie

Ms. H.

I hadn't seen you here in a while and I was wondering how things were going. Praying that you hear from your SO soon. I know it must be really hard to be so far away without any answers to your questions. I hope that in the end, you'll get some good news and you guy's can continue on with the process. You can alway's link me as well in PM if you want to chat about it. My heart.gif goes out to you.... The one thing I learned the most about being on this site is that there really are some good people here. There's lots of support and it's always good to know you can just log in and through a situation out there and get some quick and very wise responses. The VJ family's nothing but the truth.... smile.gif

Sounds good.

Lawny,

Amen..I tell my SO that all the time. He wanted to know if I had saved any of my income tax money and my last bonus check. I had to explain to him that it isn't as easy to save because I have way more bills and responsibilites than he has. And your right, he has no house note. Only utilities. His car, paid for..He was having a fit one time about his electric bill saying it was way to high, this was after the hurricane that hit last August, I asked him how much it was, when he said $50 (U.S.) I laughed. Told him I'd love to trade with him. Try paying an electric bill thats twice that amount. He about died when I told him gas was about $4 a gallon.

Exactly.

His house phone equals to $8.50/US a month and the international cell phone is $15/US. I don't even think his electric bill reaches $20/USmonth (only if he uses a/c) which he never does. Water is $6.00/US a month. I can't remember the others and I'm like you're complaining. mad.gif His mom is in a nursing home because of a stroke and he gave his brothers strict instructions on how to spend the money he left in the account. They've already lost their minds. I told him this would happen, but he says when it's done it's done. I told him to pay the nursing home directly and not depend on his brothers. Thing is some people back home think that once you reach the states that you start ROLLING in the DOUGH...

NOT!!!!!

The amount of taxes taken out of my last bonus check would have made a nice bonus check for someone else. I remember when I told my SO, he was like what! That's not right you need to talk to someone about that. I laughed and told him its called taxes or paying Uncle Samm.

Same here, people at my job are always saying let me put my exemptions up so that I can get all of my bonus money. I'm like it doesn't matter because that check will still be taxed at that high azz rate.

Morning all!

Welcome back Honey!

Classy, sorry to hear about your roommate troubles -

I had an interesting weekend - I went to Great Adventure to see Machel - traffic was chaos and it ended up taking us over FIVE hours to get there! We basically went to the show and came home. Machel was incredible as always - He brought out his kids "from all over the world" (as he put it) for one song - 5 beautiful little girls, although looking suspiciously close in age, lol ohmy.gif . Then he did his song, Unconditional Love - he stopped in the middle and said he had received an email about it, and he wanted his friend to come up and explain his email - Called this guy to the stage, and he proposed to his girlfriend in front of everyone - it was so sweet and so beautiful!

Also had a new adventure with DJ and his phone - He dropped it in water (again, lol) - so he had it near the stove trying to dry it out - Which worked, but he put the chip back in and apparently the phone was hot from the stove and it melted the chip headbonk.gif

Sus,

I wanted to go to the show. That was really nice of him to allow that guy to propose. WOW!

Now what number phone is this? lol One thing about a JA man is that they know how to dry out a cellphone. You know how many people in the states get charged for ordering new phones because when they send it back using the insurance the company finds out there's water damage. (Water damage is not covered by insurance) All we have to do is lay it out in the sun, blow dry it, or cook it (DJ) and it works...... laughing.gif

I actually dropped my phone is a tub of salsa. blink.gif It didnt work for a week or 2 but after it fully dried it was fine. It doesnt vibrate anymore. I think I go thru phones the way u guys men go thru them. I have all kinds of crazy stories about dropping phones. my friend dropped hers in the toilet rofl.gif .....it still works, haha.

That happened to me while I was in a training class. I forgot is was in my pocket and when I heard the sound of it dropping in the toliet it scared the ####### outta me. I thought something fell, well nevermind.. headbonk.gif After days of drying, it finally worked.

I think she's exhausted all these possibilities. VSC has completly stopped processing CR1/IR1 to focus on just about every other visa first so there is a TON of people waiting there.

She should make a personal appearance to USCIS. I suggested that before. We've had to make several trips to our local USCIS to get answers and so far, it worked. The hardest part if not knowing what is going on....

She needs to do that. I feel so bad for her and when she comes back to no changes she's going to be so upset. I'll pray that something comes through for her.

Sunnyja,

I definitely feel you on the money tip. I thought about trying to do a quick trip back for my SO's interview, but I know its not feasible. At this point, the medical still has to be done which is going to be some undisclosed amount until the actual day of the medical. Then he still has to go and pay the $131 for the visa fee as well..I told him to concentrate on getting those things taken care of and I will make sure the plane ticket is taken care of. GOD forbid all is said and done and he has visa in hand and we have no money for a plane ticket...This whole process will drain you dry. To bad I can't claim any of it on my taxes..ohmy.gif)

I'm telling you. When Ray gets to the visa in hand point, he may have to wait a month or two before he comes. He wants to spend more time with family before he comes anyway, and I think it may be easier for him knowing he can leave at anytime. Maybe we'll end up getting married on New Years! lol

Gill,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I find myself becoming more and more nervous as that big INTERVIEW date approaches.
When he called to schedule his medical, which is August 4th. He was told to bring up to $355 (US)..I couldn't believe it, thought that was an insane price. He said the woman told him just in case he has to get any vaccinations. I told him to get his vaccination record ASAP so it will be ready. He said he couldn't remember what all shots he's had but his most recent was a few years ago. So I'm praying he won't need much if any at all. That's crazy. And I told him to choose the option of picking up his medical himself once its finished. This would save any worries from the embassy not receiving it in time or at all..With all the issues they have.

TY -- Is he going to Mobay Hope? If he is...call and ask for Ms. Osborne (she's very nice) at least she was to me. She will tell you EXACTLY what to do. We were told to bring about $20,000/Jamaican and all he had to pay for was his medical. That's because in January I made sure he had all his shot records in order. The shots are expensive. If he has a private doctor (even better)...if not, have him go to the local clinic, because it's cheaper. His private doc may have all his medical history including shot records...and girl PLEASE...PLEASE don't be nervous (cause you'll only make your SO, nervous). Did you make his medical appt. yet? If not, go ahead a make it now. Don't wait because the days fill up quick and Mobay hope is very busy. If you have any questions link me in PM...I'll be more than happy to answer them or check with one of the vets. Did this 3 weeks ago and it's all still fresh in my head. I even remember what I wore on the interview date. Latahs have to go get yelled at now....hope yall don't read about me on CNN. "CRAZY JAMAICAN WOMAN LET LOOSE IN WASHINGTON, D.C." and SunnyJa will be right next to me.

TYMOORE,

Good luck with the medical.... These fees kick butt, omg I thought I was going to go for another visit before the interview. "NOT" too many more fees ahead. Ray hates needles and he had to get one in his foot a few months ago. He almost passed out so I have no clue what it will be like when he goes for the medical.

Mawnin Ladies;

Sunny - And it works I've seen Marcel do that several times. Even with my Verizon phone when i dropped it in the sink in November. I still have it and it works perfectly.

Sus; Phone number 20.... me and him would be boxing by now. Thank God Marcel has never lost a phone. I had to drag him out the Verizon store the other day. I was like look you not working so all you need is a simple RASS phone. He looking at me like, but I like to do this and that I was like...u musah naw er mi...We left with the new Envy cause it was FREE and I made sure that no international calls can me made.

Hey girlie,

I never asked you what Marcel thought about all the big stores and malls? Was he shocked? Ray is an electronics lover, so I know he's going to be all up in every store that sells computers, cellphones and all that type of stuff.

Hey ladies, just wanted to say hello to all. Just returned from JA after many delays and getting stranded in Florida, but im home. I miss my SO already, and must have spent the last 8 hours crying off and on crying.gif . As for him, he is doing well, his head looks like someone tried to split a coconut with a machete... wink.gif but it is healing and he is back on his feet. Im not complaining and wouldnt allow him to either, as GOD is good and he is here to tell about it. He is all pressed about the scar in his head and his hair not growing properly in the area, i told him you better wear that dyam scar as a badge of honor that you are able to live and tell about it. The weather was nice and we had a great time, now i have to figure out how not to fall into depression about us being apart again. no0pb.gif Does this ever get any easier???? doesnt feel like it sometimes. alright it is nearing 3 am and im getting delirious with sleep. Plus i have a lot of reading to do to catch up.

Unruly, PM me when you get a chance and tell me how your trip was.

Be Blessed Ladies

Honeychild

Honey,

Welcome back home... Glad to know you made it back safe and sound. I think we all know the awful feeling of leaving your SO in JA. It's one of the worst pains I've ever felt especially when they drive you to the airport. Ugh! I remember walking into the airport with my sunglasses on and tears were still running down my cheeks. I'm glad your SO is healing and trying to get past that terrible experience. I'm sure by you being there that helped in many ways. devil.gif Where you in Ochi? I love to fly, but I can't stand delays mad.gif

Am I being selfish? Do I have a reason to be so angry? Let me explain....I have a room mate, she moved in with the agreement that she babysat my kids while I worked during the day in exchange for her portion of the rent and utilities. Fast forward almost 2 yrs later, our lease is up and we move July 31st. Her son became sick (allergies, eczema) and spent a few days last week in the hospital. When he was released she decided to go stay at her aunts house. Today I get a text telling me taking care of him and watching my 2 kids is too much for her, so she won't be back for awhile. Whats awhile? She has 12 more work days to babysit them before we move #######???? I am pissed, my main reason for being so mad is because not once has she called me to give me a heads up about the situation or her plans. I had to call and text her day after day to find out what was going on. I understand her son comes first of course but she also has a responsibility to me. I'm still expected to pay her portion of all the household bills! She could have picked up a phone! And I'm sorry but is it really that hard to watch my kids also? My kids are not babies and her son is not critical nor in need of constant medical attention, she is playing games. What also makes me mad is she knows my situation with not having anyone else to babysit. Well I'll be finding out tomorrow if I can move into my condo early and she can figure out ####### she's gonna do with the rest of her month. She's enjoying her aunts house maybe she should just stay there.

Classy, I don't blame you one bit! That is not right to leave you hanging like that at the last minute and being so inconsiderate. Sounds like she had a damn good deal with you! Your kids look to be about the same age as mine so I know there is not much she needs to be doing. My kids do their own thing most of the time.

Sorry you are going at this alone. Good luck.

I agree with Islandwoman, people can really be inconsiderate at times. I'm sorry your going through this Classy, I know it's hard to find another babysitter with a 1-2 day window. She should have given you enough time to find someone else if she knew she wasn't coming back. I hope things work out for you.

Anyone know of a better way to send money than western union? We send money to my husbands daughter regular. I was hoping there was a way she could open a bank account in JA and we could transfer money from our account to hers online or something....anyone know of a way like this?

I beleive Scotia Bank has this sort of feature where from there website you can put money into an account somehow. Or you could open a seperate account under your name in the States and give your daughter an ATM for it. She can pull the money out when you put it in there. Not sure what the fees are with this.

That works well, I know for me it has helped with the filing because Western Union and Moneygram fees are too expensive. The bank charges me $100 per transaction and then an international fee which is about $1-$2 depending on the amount.

Is this ok or should he change it? Then he put his school name under the section where his home address should go so put one line through it. We'll see when he gets there. I told him if somethings not right and he has to come back, his tail will be getting on the local bus to Kingston for sure. lol My man, I tell you.....

I'm telling you, he took forever trying to fill out the education part and we had already figured out all the dates. I was like honey are you finish? He said I have one more left to write. LOL

Mawning Family,

Question: I am helping a friend of mine put her K1 stuff together for her Honey's interview. Here's the thing. Her SO is Jamaican, but works in Aruba. (Kinnda like Principessa) Because Aruba does not have an Embassy he will be going to Venezula.

He does not have to drop off his DS-230 ahead of time b/c of the expense of taking a flight to Caracas to drop off one piece of paper. They allow them to bring it with them upon the interview. The embassy called him and advised him that his interview is 7/22/08.

Here is my question...He was unaware that JA had issued new BC's. He only has his old one. Do you think the Caracas Embassy will know about the new J'can Birth Certificate? I also don't think he has the letter stating that he is free to marry(tooo early ...can't think of the correct name laughing.gif). He has his divorce papers for JA. Would he need the free to marry on top of the Divorce decree?

Ok, thanks ya'll!

Love & blessings,

Gill

Hey gill,

I agree with JaEng,

let him take what he has and then let them blue slip if that's what they call it there. I would hope the Non Impediments not needed since he has his divorce papers. It seem like each Embassy does there own thing. I wish them luck.....

Sunny, I think the Bus from Ochi to Kingston only runs twice a day - early am and late night - he's probably better off dealing with a taxi, since he has to be there mid-day. It might be a bit more expensive, but it should be faster - DJ took the bus one night and we talked for about an hour while it was sitting on the side of the road - it had stopped so that people could use the bathroom and get food.

No, there are route taxis that go throughout the day!!

He may have to change in Spanish Town though.

I would be AMAZED if there were only TWO buses that ran!!

He's playing it safe and taking a taxi that will wait for him. Lord, I just hope things go well. wacko.gif

Out of the two, I would pick Vegas - You can get some good deals through Vegas.com

In AC, we usually stay at Tropicana (free rooms, lol)

In Vegas, I have stayed at the Monte Carlo (loved it!), Bellagio (gorgeous but expensive, thankfully it was a convention), and Treasure Island - also nice.

I agree with Sus. I would stay in Vegas. I loved it there.

Recommendations:

MGM Grand
Palms-nice and resonable
Venetian-pricey by beautiful
Ceasars Palace

Tanya, yours is coming girl....

I got the same day and time Sunny, but my SO cant make it she is out the country, I am asking for a new appointment date, I am hoping they are not to strict with rescheduling.

Hey JSKI;

I hope you'll be able to change the date and time. It was my understanding that Thursday was the day to drop off information that was requested by the embassy and if you were blue slipped they usually tell you to come back on a Thursday. if you get a new date it will most likely be on a thursday at the same time...anyway good luck.

Thanks ALL

I am going to prep my SO to be ready for Thursdays and try to stay in country. She is a flight attendant and when I got the email yesterday she already boarded a flight and it was to late to re-schedule, she wont be back to JA till late thursday. If we cant get a favorable appt. I will take you guys advice and express mail it.

Is she going to do that when she comes to the states???

Most likely, I am close to fort lauderdale airport so we will try Spirit Air since it go to yard smile.gif and maybe AA in miami but I heard they are laying off sad.gif
she can also work at Air JA ticket counter cause she wont be able to fly as an attendant with them anymore but still keep the flight benefits smile.gif

I agree...I mean it was a dyam fool thing to do and I don't think em a guh git dep...I think he is going to be there for AWHILE...unless he can prove otherwise! no0pb.gif

Stupid Man!

Gill,

I mean Marcel WARNED and WARNED and WARNED him to stay away from the other women and he did not listen. When we were in Jamaica he would walk off and leave her alone in the club. Then he would leave her for hours at a time at the house. Then she would go crying to Marcel and he would tell her why you staying with him if he's treating you this bad. She's full of crosses and he's a DUMB'A$$. When dude left Jamaica she kept on calling me and texting me for his location telling all kind of lies and Marcel had to put her in her place and tell her never to contact me again.

I know...he didn't seem to be one of Ken's favorite people eiddah! Ken just gets pissed when anyone, especially Yardmen...waste a golden opportunity to do better for themselves and their family!

I didn't realize there was a 3rd ooman involved...like I said ken was taking a shower I was sitting on the counter listening to him tell it and became distracted! devil.gif devil.gif laughing.gif

Ken was taking a shower and talking on the phone?

No Silly! laughing.gif He had finished talking on the phone. He was telling me the story and taking a shower! wink.gif

Ok, going back to read whats up wid Quannie!

NP Sunny...the KNG has a rhythm...although it's usually off beat! Ignore your a$$ all month long than the last week send yuh wan likkle foo foo email and end of the month post your interview date. I found the closer to the beginning of the month that they receive your ds-230 the earlier in the month you will have your interview date!
