Dada, what day and time are you arriving in JA?

I think 11:47 a.m. the earliest flight I have ever taken. Roc is always late so I keep reminding him he better be on time this early in the a.m. What time you arrive?

Hey Sus get this memba I was stressing because I wanted to give Roc a nice B-day with diner and dancing and the whole nine and he just wanted to stay in the house and cook? Well this weekend we were talking and he asked me so what are we doing for my birthday? See Roc has never celebrated his birthday so I guess the realization that we are going to celebrate it has kicked in. Anyway he's like so what are we going to do for my birthday and I'm like I don’t know honey what ever u want to do I thought we were buying food and staying in. He was like well umm I don’t know; I know how you like to drive so I was thinking maybe we could drive to Negril. I told him it’s not what I want its what you want. He was like so where are we going at night? (Whoooo sawwww) Again its not what I want Roc its what you want to do. He was like well I don’t know I was thinking about staying in but I don’t want to disappoint you. U wont Roc as long as I’m with you I'm cool. By the end of the conversation I had a feeling he now wants to go out but he just doesn’t know how to tell me. So I was thinking of compromising. Maybe we can go to lunch when I get there and then let him cook dinner. I have too many other things to think about like what I'm wearing when I step off that plane and how my hair is going to be and what I'm going to wear to bed that night to think about what we are now doing. Ughhhh. I tell you every time I'm cool with something things change...

Nat your countdown clock is ticking too right??

You can't make his cook on his birthday. headbonk.gif lol You should stick with your orignal plan and go to dinner and dancing. I bet he would love that. My husband never had a birthday cake and so I surprised his with an icecream cake for breakfast. LMAO He loved it to. His birthday is on Vaentines Day, so it's hard because I have to do both.

Oh Sunray you missed this mess. Well since Roc never celebrated his birthday before and he helped me have a blast on mine I decided that I would go back for his. So my original idea with the help of Sus, Ells and I think KK or kcloy was to arrive in Mobay drive to Negril and have lunch, then go to Ricks cafe to chill get a cake from Jenny's Bakery and then have dinner at sunset at either of two restaurants (I forget the names) and then finish it up with at Alfred's or a club in Negril. I had the whole day set but when I told Roc I had his day planned he told me he wanted to just go get some seafood and he wanted to stay in the house and cook on his bwaan day.. I was like ####### like who wants to cook on their birthday and he was like me. So then I told him I wasn’t coming. Why spend money on airfare to just sit in your house but then the girls told me I was being selfish its his day he should do what he wants to do so I said freak it at least I'll get to be with him and I went for it and canceled all my plans. Now all of a sudden he doest know if he wants to stay in the house and cook now. So this is what is frustrating me. I'm just going to chill and wait until closer to the date and then decide what we are going to do. In the mean time I'm working on me and my details... lol

Ok, I got it now.... I don't think that was being selfish though. For someone who never celebrated their birthday maybe he doesn't know what to expect. A lot of people in Jamaica don't celebrate their birthdays, so this when we can blend in our US culture. lol Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure you guy's will have a great time.

Yup. I'll be in Negril May 16-20.

Steven's birthday is near that time, too, so I want to surprise him with a cake & punch for his family/friends. The only place in Negril that I've heard sells cakes is Jenny Cakes (something like that). Does anyone know of another place, perhaps one closer to downtown or the beach?

Congrats on the AOS, SunRay! You're that much closer to being finished with the process.
Congrats on the green card production, Gill. You're even closer!

Thanks Nat.... I'll check with a friend that lives in Negril and let you know. She should know...

Jamerican, you have to realize that VJ is all about people offering their advice or opinions. Don't let it get to you because people may not agree with your decisions, because in the end only you have to deal with it. Not us... Wish you all of the best in whatever you choose to do.

Is anyone here living in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale? I will be there for one week 5/25-5/31 and would love to link up if there's any yardies there. Let me know.

Ells, I know it is frustrating - but others have taken weeks to get a response - try sending another email Monday - Forget who it was, but someone was known by name when they got to the embassy cause they emailed so so much. I know it seems like forever, but it hasn't been that long, your turn will come soon!

So, I found my wedding dress - I had just about given up, and was about to make one, lol - I was driving past this shopping center and there was a tiny store with a big sign for prom dress clearance - I ran in, 15 minutes before they close, and found exactly what I want on the clearance rack -- serious bargain! It needs a little tightening, but it's exactly what I wanted!

Kimmy, I love love love my car - I discovered I have a DVD player in it too - haven't figured out where it plays out yet though, lol

lol, that was Tonisha (TNW)

I would just send them another e-mail with 2nd Request again Ells..... It's doesn't hurt. I sure did it and they didn't have a clue of who I was when I got to the interview. LMAO

I said, yes, is there a problem...she replied, well, he's...(he's WHAT). My son came home a few weeks later and asked me if he's mixed? I said, where did you get that from, he said the teacher asked him...straight to the school the next day.

ahhahaa..for kicks

BUT...no man...this is why America was/is so dyam segregated...ppl teaching ppl there is a "difference" in them cause of the complesion of their skin

That teacher doesn't deserve to teach. I can remember one of my loco girlfriends cursing this lady out in Traget. I was in another section and I heard this yelling back and forth. Well, apparantly the teacher was on her cell phone talking about how much she hated the little kids in her class and that their parents don't teach them any manners and expect for her to be a teacher and mother to them. She was just a talking about those kids terrible. WHY IS SHE TEACHING.... SOME ARE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF GETTING A PAY CHECK. I love the older teachers because most of them haven't lost their focus.

lol.. oh no.. what did he do to deserve that??? man.. she went FED.. i dont think i would do that even if he did something jacked up.. we can handle it different ways.. like how she did in 'i can do bad all by myself" sus whistling.gif

I know one that kicked put a knife to her husbands throat and kicked him out in the snow because she found out he was seeing some other woman. Then she begged for him back and he has not returned. That was over 2 years ago.

OMG, I used to dye my hair with kool-aid too. I used black cherry to get that burgundy look. In the sun it was the bomd.

Where is Jalove? She hasn't been in here in a while.

Not sure if it's just me, but the room seems back to the way it was when I first joined. I was beginning to think we would all just fade away and go on with our lives at one point, but now it seems like home again. blush.gif

Jaws..thanks...yes we girls ( Jonesie, Gilli, Yaads, Lawny, shemmy and you smile.gif) are really blessed. I know for me..it was nver easy in the beginning..U KNOW..BUT we got passed that...one thing tho we never lost our love for each other no matter the fighting...

There are many of us that are blessed. We all go through our ups and downs with any relationship, but most of the time that just makes the love you have for eachother even stronger. It was a bit rough when Ray came here and from time to time he still has his days of being sad and missing home, but we talk about it and keep it moving. One thing about me is that I keep it real about my relationship and I don't hold back from anyone because there's always at one someone who can learn something from it.

Exactly..i didn't include u cuz we never spoke that way u know..NOW shem smile.gif..well...hehhehe..YES i don't hold back if anyone wants to know anything..i'm real with mine...DAT NO MEAN MI A GO PUT IT INNA DI PUBLIC

Mawnin Yardies!

I'm so glad that Friday has finally arrived. Looking forward to spending the weekend with family and friends.

Irie: I remember going to the bank to take out $300 which is the daily limit at my credit union. Well, everything went fine until the money door opened and no money came out. Not even one $20. I went crazy because it was friday night and the bank was closed and when I called on Monday, they told me that I had to wait until they did their close out from that night. The end results was that I got my money, but what a headache.

Trelawny, the Caribbean Flava restaurant is Waldorf, Md is looking for a Jamaican cook. Pass this on if you know of someone who might be intrested. They have opened up another location in Upper Marlboro too.

jaenglish goes there a lot. She has friends that work at the Upper Marlboro location. It's right next to where my sister lives.

I have a sansa too but sorry I cant be of help!

You can't use the cassette tape with the cord that goes into the MP3? It works for the IPOD, so it should work for any MP3.

Here it is:

You still have a cassette player, Shell?

I use Frostwire..

Thank you. I will try that. Too much music I want to pay for it all. I have over 6,000 songs on my iPod. I'd have to hire a body guard for the damn thing!

Dang, I am tired today. Between my friend's garden, a garden co-op box of veggies my mom gave me, and my own purchases, I had way too many veggies beginning to rot in the frig. And, bananas....omg....I had something like 15 bananas. I cooked my fool head off last night. Made 6 loaves of banana bread, 15 lbs. of potato salad, and a spaghetti sauce. House smelled like heaven.

Today, I am printing out hunter's education manual. Hopefully it won't put me to sleep and I can actually learn enough of this to actually pass the test and get a permit. Hundreds and hundreds of pages. My eyes are crossing just thinking about it.

TGIT!!!!!!

so when do i get my loaf?

I was just going to put on FB anyone is St. Louis that wants to eat, come on over!

I bet you won't be saying that when I post I shot some doves/squirrels/deer now, will you?

yes, I have one in the car, but it's hidden behind my radio. The radio screen folds down if I need the tape deck. I never use it. lol may car is a 2003.
