Africa: Sub-SaharanSharing some red flags

HELLOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VISA FAM!

I really hope things are going well for everyone! I really do. Things are going fairly well with us. We've gotten a little closer, there's still a lot of work ahead of us in terms of understanding one another better and getting comfortable with his thought process on matters. He's doing well spiritually. The Elders have been praying with him and providing him with bible based direction to get to the root of his past actions and so forth. I realize without God in your marriage, especially these foreign marriages, you have NO chance of success. That three fold cord is the only thing that can sustain the marriage when divorce seems unavoidable. I still would not do this again if I had a choice. I feel like marraiage is hard enough already in the times we are living in with someone here in the states. One can only imagine how much harder it is with someone you married under non-traditional circumstances. Nonetheless at times the love is strong, at times I'm frustrated at myself for not knowing him well enough before making one of the biggest decisions in life, but he has come a long way and continues to make progress. He wants to make it work and most times so do I. Only time will tell-God willing.

SEE YA!!!

Africa: Sub-SaharanHow long does it take to get a second interview date?

I was on doxycycline, but I missed a dose. It wasn't a bad case though from what I hear. I think we would be okay for me not to go. I just think that if something were to go wrong, would that make a difference, so off I go again. They want to know how we can afford so many trips as I am a student. We have submit letters from our families that they have helped some with the expenses. I have yet to understand how that is relevant, but at least it isn't something more serious.

it seems like these Lagos people just want to deny folks for any reason possible.. sad

I was too, I just got back. However, because we have some red flags I feel that anything I can do I should. Plus airfrance is having a sale. I got my ticket for just $1100. I never thought that I would get sick of traveling, but I am. I came back with malaria last time, so maybe once I am totally healed I will be happy to go.

Malaria! yikes!! sorry to hear that! funny enough i have not caught malaria.. I usually go to a Nigerian Pharmacy and take these once per week pills.. They work! You should try them next time. I told my fiance about you not getting a interview date. We were wondering what the issue was on the consulate side of things.. I'm happy u finally got one! I think I'll just stay here and leave things in God's hands! What new info were they requesting for you to bring to this new interview??

I sent it to LagosIV@state.gov. I received the auto response all three times. Subject line specifies 221(g), full name, then case number. I called DOS & they have no further information either. Lagos of course won't talk to me.

That's the same subject line and email I used.. Also check your bulk mail/ spam folder.. My first email was sent to my bulk/ spam folder it will be from smart core..

To Feli114, I went for our interview & I swear it helped, some others swear it doesn't. In Lagos you can't go in, you have to wait outside.

how many times have u emailed in two weeks? and i will let u know when i get a response.. Also u said u went with your fiance to the interview, did it help if so how did it help? Thanks

Africa: Sub-SaharanTAKING DOCUMENTS TO THE INTERVIEW

I have read various opinions about this. Some have said yes, some said no, some have said only a few where only the petitioner has sent the WU funds for example birthdays/holidays and only small amounts; and definitely not from the beneficiary because it could be construed as payment.

Personally, I chose not to send any, because of Lagos being Lagos I did not want any "upturned eyebrows" at my sending funds to my husband and family.

Do a Search on "Sending Western Union receipts" and you can get the various reasonings in depth.

My fiance took a years worth of moneygram receipts to her interview.. i send her allowance every 2 weeks.. It didn't raise any red flags that i know of

Hey Naijaboy, I found an image for the epassport here: NEW EPASSPORT PIC

If you notice on this pic of the passport cover there is a little rectangle box with a circle in it on the bottom of the cover. That is the symbol for 'epassport'. I presume the older cover passports don't have that.

Thanks

If you have done a traditional over there and during AP they do a check and find ANYONE that says they attended your traditonal then you will be denied. Many times AP means they have an investogator out talking to the neighbors.

The interviewer at my fiances interview last month asked her why didn't we do a introduction? He said since shes Yoruba why would her parents allow her go to America and get married without doing a introduction.. She told him that most of my family are in America and we just agreed on doing everything here in America.. We feel like if we would have done a introduction and brought pics he would have used that against us.. So for us its safer not to do any type of traditional ceremony.. Better to be safe than sorry..

Africa: Sub-SaharanWarning issued for Americans in Nigeria
http://articles.cnn....ja?_s=PM:AFRICA

Following an outbreak of violence that left more than 100 people dead, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria issued a warning to Americans on Sunday, saying more attacks may be imminent in the northeastern part of the nation.

"Following the recent Boko Haram, aka Nigerian Taliban, attacks in Borno and Yobe State, the U.S. Embassy has received information that Boko Haram may plan to attack several locations and hotels in Abuja, Nigeria, during the Sallah holiday," the mission said. Sallah is the Nigerian name for the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday.

The Muslim militant group Boko Haram's stated goal is to establish a state based on Sharia, or Islamic law, in the predominantly Muslim states of northern Nigeria. Loosely translated, the group's name means "Western education is sinful."

According to the U.S. mission, other potential targets may include the Nicon Luxury, the Sheraton Hotel and the Transcorp Hilton Hotel. U.S. government personnel were instructed to avoid those locations, and any previously scheduled events were canceled.

"American citizens should expect additional police and military checkpoints, additional security and possible road blocks in Abuja for the foreseeable future," the mission statement said.

Attacks have targeted police stations, mosques and churches in northeastern Nigeria, the Red Cross said. There was no official claim of responsibility from Boko Haram.

Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday called for an end to the violence during his weekly Sunday Angelus prayer.

"I am following with apprehension the tragic episodes that have taken place in Nigeria over the last days," the pope said. "While I pray for the victims, I invite an end to the violence, which doesn't resolve the problems but increase them, sowing hatred and divisions even amongst the faithful."

Scores of people, potentially more than 100, were injured in a three-hour rampage in the Yobe state city of Damaturu, according to Ibrahim Bulama of the Red Cross. More than 100 people died in what he described as "a very bad scene." Bulama initially said 63 people died, but revised the death toll upward Sunday.

Gunmen first attacked the police headquarters and the anti-terror office before moving to churches and mosques, he said. Most of the casualties were police officers.
In Potiskum, also located in Yobe state, gunmen attacked a book shop near the police station, killing two and injuring five, the Red Cross said.

Nigeria's main opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria, said in a statement Sunday it was "horrified" at the attacks.

"It is now apparent that those saddled with ensuring the security of lives and property in the country are grossly incapable of doing so, hence the need to shake up the security agencies and put more capable men and women in charge," the statement said. "The shake up must not spare any of the security chiefs. This is about taking responsibility."

The Friday attacks came the same day that suicide bombers suspected of belonging to Boko Haram targeted a military base in nearby Maiduguri.

Three suicide bombers drove a stolen black SUV toward a Joint Task Force headquarters, but could not get through the gate, military spokesman Lt. Col. Hassan Mohammed said. The blast damaged the roofs and walls of the base.

Mohammed said two other simultaneous explosions took place at other military facilities. An unspecified number of Nigerian soldiers suffered injuries.

Saturday evening, a suicide bomber launched another attack in Maiduguri, Mohammed said. No casualties were reported except for the bomber. He also blamed Boko Haram for the attacks.

The Red Cross official said Boko Haram is suspected in the Damaturu attack as well.
