K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI think we are approved but no text message was received

Good afternoon everyone,

Like everyone else we have been waiting for months with zero news from USCIS.  I waited until we hit 200 days and called USCIS.  Started off talking to a tier 1 person and got the normal standard talking points.  I asked for a tier 2 person and was connected and talking to the tier 2 person within 4 minutes.  Mind you I called early in the morning and 3 minutes after their office opened.  This is the first time I had called USCIS and the tier 2 person was very nice.  I told him I wanted to know if he could give me any idea where my file might be in line (I filed in Vermont).  I told him I checked the USCIS web site every day but nothing ever changes.  He told me not to check the web site as it has problems with updates (don't we all know that!).  He said I should hear something within 25 days.  I told him that was the best news I ever received and thanked him.  That call was on Monday 5/20/13.  Even though he told me about the web site but I kept checking anyway...like I have done for months.  On Friday 5/24/13 I was shocked to see my file was marked post decision activity and stated on May 24, 2013 we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F petition for finance.  I about fell out of my chair and of course called my soon to be better half to share the wonderful news.

Here is my question.  For some crazy reason I almost cannot believe this news.  First of after what the tier 2 person told me not to trust the web site.  Second thing is when I filed my forms I signed up for text messages.  I received a text message with my NOA1.  To date I have not received a text with this NOA2.  Do they normally not send a text with the NOA2?  I know it will be a few days before I receive the mailed copy with today being Memorial Day.  Until I get the mailed copy I almost can't beleive this news.  I would to hear from anyone else that did not get a text with their NOA2.

Thanks to everyone and God Bless

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! NOA2 from CSC Jan 8th filer!!

Congrats.  Start calling the National Visa Center (NVC) at 603-334-0700 to see when they receive your packet.  We were just approved a few weeks ago and I called each day until they confirmed receipt.  Once that happens have them supply your NVC case number, invoice number, and beneficiary ID.  I just called the NVC (they open at 7:00 eastern time zone and if you call early there is just about zero wait time to talk to a live person) at 7:00 this morning and was told our packet was sent to Ciudad Juarez yesterday!  Sounds like you might be about two weeks behind us.  Best wishes, God Speed, and God Bless

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHave to ask once again

I will agree with Kay as the incorrect information they give is a joke.  We are still trying to secure the invitation letter and the Consulate's office received our package from the national visa center over three weeks ago.  I still cannot understand why they cannot email the invitation letter.

We feel like the lone stranger!  NOA1 10/31/12 and I pray we will soon receive the same great news that a number of you already have.  We ckeck our email about a million times a day looking for the approval email!  How many more of us October fliers that have not been approved are left?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2012 K1 filers
Good morning October 2012 K1 filers. The journey continues and I pray everyone is doing well. My sweetheart is visiting me for the Christmas holiday. She is here on her tourist visa. She had zero problems entering the US via the Atlanta airport. She carried a complete copy of the I-129F package I filed. When she entered the US they asked what was the reason for her visit and of course she told the truth. She also had her return airline ticket. She asked the custom official if he wanted to see a copy of the I-129F package and he smiled and said no and for her to have a great visit. It is great having her here but will be sad when she goes back to Mexico City in a few weeks. I plan on flying to Mexico City to see her in February. We like everyone on here are looking forward to getting the K1 approved and getting married. God bless everyone and God's speed.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2012 K1 filers
Good morning fellow hurry up and wait October filers! It is now the middle of November and we are on our way to that wonderful day when the K1 visa is issued. I have a question about the USCIS web site. I have gone to the web site each day and entered my NOA1 case number to check my currnet case status. I keep getting a message that says my case can not be found at this time. I have read a few posts that I should not worry as the case status is not updated very well. Has any other October filer had this same issue? Oh and by the way my file is in Vermont. Thanks in advance for your reply.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2012 K1 filers
I was sound asleep and at 1:47am this morning I woke up to the sound of my cell phone alerting me that I had received a text message. That had to be the best text message I ever received as it was from the USCIS telling me my case was received with a receipt number. The official receipt notice, form I-797 is being sent to me via US mail.
I checked my email this morning and also received an email from USCIS telling me my case has been routed to the Vermont Service Center for processing.

One day at a time. I am a former United States Marine and we used to say "Hurry up and wait"

Thanks for starting this October 2012 K1 filer thread so we can share our stories and watch each other's progress. Let me know if I can be of help to anyone.

God Bless each and everyone of you and God's Speed

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2012 K1 filers
Good morning everyone,

I am also an October 2012 filer. I used VisaJourney to get some informaition and completed/filed my paperwork. I look forward to watching everyone's progress and we go through this journey together with the final results of getting married to our soon to be better half. I dated my sweet heart for the last 4 years while she was in the states working on her TN visa. She worked for a company that my company does business with. That is how we met. Her company closed in January of this year and she moved back to Mexico City. I have visited her a number of times as she has also visited me a number of times since January. Looking back I should have started the K1 visa progress sooner but that is water under the bridge. Everything is always in God's hands and through his plan we will end up with what He wants. God Bless each and everyone of you and God's Speed to each of us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy journey so far, . . . now at NOA2!

Congrats but this sounds like an ad.  Why waste money on a service when you can secure all the information you need for free on Visa Journey?  We completed our journey (for free with the exception of visa fees) using Visa Journey and did not have any RFEs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe are getting married today 9/14/13

After dating for over 5 years while Elizabeth was here in Atlanta on her TN visa, getting engaged July of 2012, sending I129F package last October, Ciudad Juarez approval and getting K1 visa last month (almost one year wait), both of us flying into Atlanta from Mexico City two weeks ago, we are getting married today at 1:30.  Thanks to God for making this happen.  Thanks to everyone on Visa Journey for their assistance.  The last few weeks have been non stop trying to get everything ready for today.  Now I just have to show up with my tuxedo on.  Elizabeth's mom flew to Atlanta with us and of course will be part of the wedding.  Her mom does not speak any English and my Espanol is very limited.  Our bilingual pastor will have me say a few lines in Spanish and I pray with my southern accent I do not mispronounce any Spanish words that get interpreted into something bad in Spanish!

Once we get back from our honeymoon and get settled I plan to write up a guide of what we went through in Ciudad Juarez to assist anyone that will be going through that Consulate's office.

Well the next step will be adjustment of status, advance parole, and work authorization!  Already working on that paperwork...the journey continues!

May God Bless each and everyone of you.

John and Elizabeth

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp Scheduling Appointment for K1 Visa Interview Mexico

You have to pay the fee before it will show you the calendar with available dates for the interview.  You select the date you want after you pay the fee.  The US citizen is not allowed to attend the interview.  If you (the USC) only received the invitation letter you need to scan the letter and email it to your soon to be better half in Mexico.  The Mexican citizen can print the invitation letter as they will need it in Ciudad Juarez.  I suggest printing at least three copies as in our case the medical office kept one copy.  It is better to have something that they might not need then to NOT have something they might need.  Elizabeth even had a complete copy of the original I-129F package when she had her interview.

Best Wishes

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F question #18- Proof of meeting within 2 years
I am in the process of filing the I-129F. I first met my fiance four years ago. She is from Mexico and was in working in the US on a TN Visa. We are both accountants and she worked at a client’s office that my company did work for. We have dated for 4 years and got engaged a year ago. Her company was sold in January of 2012 and she returned to Mexico. However she has traveled to the US (to see me) a number of times since then on her travel visa. I have traveled to Mexico a number of times on my passport. I have a question about what proof I need to have in order to support line #18 on the I-129F form. The discription says to explain how the relationship was established and does not say anything about providing proof. I did not keep any type of receipts when we would go out to eat (even thought that would not say who was at the table eating!) Other than write a detailed description and attach it to the I-129F form what else should I try and provide? The rest of the form is straight forward but I want to make sure I cross all the Ts and dot all the Is. Thanks in advance for your help.

On a side note we will travel between Mexico and the US during the I-129F process. Will that cause a problem? Sorry if some of these questions have been answered in other posts but I am new to this forum.
Thanks again
John

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about the I-797 form
Hello everyone,

Yesterday I received a text and also an email from USCIS telling me my case was recived and being sent to Vermont. They are mailing the I-797 form to my house. I know the I-797 form has the recipt number and other imformation I can use to log into the USCIS web site in order to track the progress of my I-129F form. Other than that what do I do with the I-797 form? I do not see anything where my finance will need to take it to her interview or anything else. Thanks in advance for your reply and input.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLanguage and Translations of Proof
I am going through the process also. I just received word my I-797 is being mailed. With that said what I understand is you have to show proof that you have met face to face in the two years prior (before) you filed your I-129F form. Dated pictures are the best proof. My soon to be wife has worked in the US for the last four years on her TN visa. That is how we met and dated for most of that time. Her company was sold in January and she moved back to Mexico. We have visited each other a number of times since she moved. I saved airline tickets and also pictures. I flew to Mexico City in July to ask her mother for permission to marry (thanfully she said yes). We took pictures during that visit. When I got back to work I sent a few emails to my co-workers telling them the good news and also had pictures pasted in the email. For proof I printed the emails which had my company's name, date, and time. On my cover letter I mentioned the proof of meeting in the prior two years and also said the emails are discoverable on my company's file server. Mind you my file has just moved to Vermont but I feel that will be enough proof. I would like to hear about other people's proof they submitted. Feel free to ask me anything and I will be happy to help if I can.
Thanks and best of luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent to marry!!!
I assume you are filing your I-129F form. I saw no requirements the intent to marry letters have to be notarized. My fiance had one letter that she signed and I had a letter that I signed. The letters were not notarized. There is no need to supply copies of pay stubs when you file the I-129F form. That will be later when your finance has the interview and you submit the I134 Affidavit of support. Hope this helps

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp with vaccinations
Good morning,

Please note I am new at this and have just filed my I-129F. From what I have found you do not need to have any vaccinations during the K1 process. My fiance is in Mexico and the medical exam does not require any vaccinations. Mind you they will need to prove certain vaccinations at a later time after you get married. Do not take this as the gospel but I think I am correct in this fact. I will wait for others with more knowledge to pipe in.

Best of luck in your journey

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMistake made on I-129F about where fiance will apply for visa
Hello everyone,

After I completed and mailed my I-129F form for my fiance that lives in Mexico City I found out I entered the wrong embassy she would apply for the visa. I figured since she lives in Mexico City then she would use the American embassy in Mexico City. After all she has been there a number of times for her tavel visa plus her TN visa. A one stop shop. Well after I entered Mexico City on the I-129F form where you have to list where your fiance will apply for a visa abroad I found out the real consulate. In the entire country of Mexico the consulate in Cuidad Juarez is the only place you can get the K1 visa. I have no problem flying her to Cuidad Juarez for the medical and interview. The question I have is will I have a problem since I listed the incorrect embassy that will be used. I would think this will not cause a problem as the National Visa Center should know where to forward the packet. I look forward to your comments and thoughts.
Thanks and
GOD bless and GOD's speed to everyone

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129f, Question 12
I put N/A as I did for other areas that were non applicable. At this point I would do nothing and wait to see if you receive a RFE (request for evidence). I would think you will not have any problems but do not know for a fact. I have read on VisaJourney that if you try to send in additional information/corrections after you filed the paperwork is not the best thing to do. First is they would have to try and find your paperwork. Everyone on here always says wait for a RFE. If the service center needs/wants something they will let you know.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of on going relationship.
Alexxas,

At this point you only have to prove you have met face to face at least once in the two years prior to filing the I-129F form. The proof of on going relationship will come into play during the interview process. That my friend will not happen until months after the I-129F form is filed as we all have a long waiting period. Question 18 on the I-129F form tells you to describe the circumstances under which you met. You also need to include the proof you met with your I-129F package. Mind you I am new at this process but this is what I have read on VisaJourney plus other web sites. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTB test during medical prior to interview
thanks for the reply. I was thinking if they do the TB skin test there is no way you can have the medical that morning and pick up the medical results package that afternoon at 3:00. I am trying to get a real feeling for what will happen those days from the medical to the interview and then the K1 visa. :D Happy days will be here soon. I would still love to hear from anyone that had a recent medical in Ciudad Juarez. Thanks again

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTB test during medical prior to interview
I understand they test for TB during the medical prior to the interview. They draw blood also take an X-ray. I have received TB tests in the past and they inject a small amount of PPD (tuberculin, purified protein derivative)under the skin on your arm. You had to come back the next day for the medical staff to 'read the results'. The next day they looked at the injection site and if you had a bump on your arm was positive for TB. I have read a number of people go to the medical facility and have their medical done that morning. They then return that afternoon at 3:00 to pick up their sealed medical package that they take to the interview the next day. Does anyone know if they still do the TB skin test or just look at your X-ray for signs of TB? Thanks in advance for your reply. My fiance is in Mexico so I would also love to hear from anyone who had a recent medical in Mexico. Thanks again

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresi-129f part B, question 18... not enough information!! RFE?
I assume you are in the process of getting your I-129F form ready to file. My fiance was in the US on her TN visa. She worked for a company that my company did business with. That is how we met. I ended up with four lines on the I-129F that stated that fact. Nothing more and nothing less. To prove we met at least two years prior to filing the I-129F I submitted pictures. The bad thing with pictures are they normally are not dated. I had sent a number of emails to my co-workers with pictures of my fiance and me together. The email was date/time stamped and was included in my package. In my cover letter I stated that fact and also the emails were discoverable on my company's file server. Don't forget to include a marriage letter of intent from both of you. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help where I can. Please note I am early in the process as my package was delivered to Vermont just a few weeks ago.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about police certificate and fiance lived in US

Good morning,

I first want to thank everyone on VJ for the information that helped us get our I129F approved last week without a RFE.  My fiance is from Mexico and has lived and worked in the US for a number of years under her TN visa.  That is how we met and have dated for the last 6 years and got engaged last July and started this visa journey.  The company she worked for was sold a year ago and she moved back to Mexico City.  I have traveled to Mexico City on my passport a number of times and she has traveled to the US on her travel/tourist visa during the waiting period for our approval.  Matter of fact she flies here this Friday for a visit before she flies back to do the final process in this journey (bio, medical, interview).

My question is about a police certificate.  Mexico does not have a police certificate.  You only get one if you have a police record which of course she does not.  This fact has been confirmed by a number of sources, one of which is Jay-Kay from VJ.  I read a few items that said you need a police certificate from any country that you have lived in for more that 6 months.  Will my fiance need to secure a police certificate from the US before she has her interview in Mexico?  Thanks in advance for your reply to my question.

God Bless and God's Speed to everyone

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs DS-260 submitted via email or electronic for Mexico?

Good morning,

I searched VisaJourney but did not find a specific answer to my question.  Our papers are in Ciudad Juarez but have not received the invitation letter yet.  We have NVC case number, invoice and beneficiary ID numbers and are going online to complete the forms.  We are getting conflicting information about the DS-260.  We read you either have to submit the form electronic or print and email or even mail the form.  Does anyone know the correct way?  I know we will print the confirmation page and take to Ciudad Juarez.  Thanks to Jay Kay for the links to everything to do for Mexico but just not sure about this DS-260.

 thanks and God Bless

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC HAS MY NUMBER! IN PROCESS TO CDJ! K-1

Good morning everyone,

The incorrect information keeps coming from the Consulate's office in Ciudad Juarez.  Even though they told me the invitation letter would be sent via DHL over a week ago to my financee and me it never was.  My fiancee called the Consulate's office yesterday (Monday) and was told we have to wait 8 to 10 weeks for the invitation letter.  They said if the letter does not show up in that time period then to call back.  To have come this far and now only need the letter in order to move forward.  We do not want to spend the money to fly from Mexico City to Ciudad Juarez only to find we cannot secure the invitation letter from the information window at the Consulate's office.  The main problem we (and I am sure everyone else) have is no matter where you are in your visa journey it is almost impossible to get any type of correct information from any government official.  What a joke.  I will call the Consulate's office again this morning and pray I can talk to someone with a heart and will be willing to help us and this time follow through.

Stay tuned

Good (Friday) morning everyone,

Since the Consulate's office in Ciudad Juarez was closed yesterday for the 4th of July I decided to call DHL to see if they could do a reverse track on the invitation letter that I was told would be sent via DHL.  I do not have a tracking number but supplied DHL with information about where the package was leaving from and where the package was going (my and my financee's homes).  I am sad to say that DHL did not have any record of any package coming to my finacee or me.  I will call the Consulate's office this morning in an attempt to secure a tracking number or at least confirm (within their sea of incorrect information) the invitation letter was or is being sent.

This is a nail biter right down to the last seconds.  Stay tuned

As a note to my above post the lady (she told me they are not allowed to give you their name due to security) at the Consulate's office in Ciudad Juarez confirmed my fiancee's address and also my address for the DHL package.  With her confirming our address I felt better thinking they are really doing a DHL shipping label.  Now if I could have only secured a tracking number!

As Kay as stated Ciudad Juarez is known to give incorrect information.  I called the American Consulate's office in Ciudad Juarez but got stuck in their press different buttons for different options.  I could not get a live person on the phone so I called the Department of State at 202-663-1225.  I pressed 1 and then pressed 0 and got a live person.  I supplied my case number and other information they requested.  They confirmed my package was in Ciudad Juarez but was not able to assist with securing the invitation letter and said I would need to call Ciudad Juarez.  Okay here I go again!  I called the Consulate's office and really don't remember which combination of buttons I pressed but finally got a live person on the phone.  During the process of pressing the buttons at one point I had to enter my visa payment confirmation number.  Yes we already paid the fee.  Anyway I started telling her my story and she said I need to talk to a different department within their office.  To my disbelief I was transferred and a live person picked up the phone within one ring.  The lady was very nice and I explained my situation.  She confirmed the invitation letter was mailed on June 13th but only to my financee in Mexico City.  Okay first incorrect information as I have been on this site long enough to know a letter is supposed to be mailed to the US citizens address also.  I told her my fiancee has not received the invitation letter.  She said she was going to put me on hold and check on the letter.  She came back and said she would be happy to mail a copy to my finacee and also mail me a copy.  I asked her if we could just stop by the information window at the Consulate's office and pick up a copy which she said no problem.  I told her my finacee called the day before and was told as of last week you cannot get the letter.  She put me on hold again to confirm and came back and said you can pick up the invitation letter.  Now I am getting worried as my fiancee does not want to pay the outrageous fee to fly from Mexico City to Ciudad Juarez plus hotel only to find out she cannot get the invitation letter.  As we all know you need the letter in order to get your medical and be allowed inside the Consulate's office.  Sure you can schedule your interview without the letter but then it stops.  At that point I asked since they are going to send new letters to my finacee and me could they send them via DHL and I will be more than happy to pay for the cost.  She told me they were already going to ship them via DHL and there would be no cost to me!  I pray that was not more incorrect information.  She said since the 4th of July is a holiday we can look for the DHL package to arrive this Friday (7/5/13) or Monday (7/08/13).  I will keep you posted when (not if as I pray this will happen) the letter arrives.

I guess the crazy thing is this.  After jumping through so many hoops (and many more hoops to come) and waiting since last October since I sent in the I-129f package we come down to waiting for a letter.  Since Ciudad Juarez knows about all the problems with the Mexican mail system can't they join today's world and send the letter via email?  Wow what a concept...they already have my email and cell phone number.  Just attach the letter to an email and press send.

I will update you as we move forward in our VJ.  I would love to hear from anyone else that is in this same situation.

God Bless and God's Speed

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC HAS MY NUMBER! IN PROCESS TO CDJ! K-1

Good morning everyone,

I wanted to share some news I just found out.  We were approved and I called the National Visa Center and secured the NVC case number, invoice number, and also beneficiary ID.  We went to the web sites and completed all paperwork and paid the fee.  We have not scheduled the interview or biometric as we have not received the invitation letter.  We fully understand Ciudad Juarez will mail the invitation letter to me (the US citizen) and my fiancee in Mexico City.  Yes we know all about the bad mail service in Mexico and I can email her a copy of the letter when/if I receive it.  We also understand if the letter never comes she can arrive at the consulate's office early one morning and request a copy of the letter.  My fiancee wanted to call the consulate's office just to confirm that fact.  She called yesterday and was told effective last week the consulate will not and does not supply a copy of the invitation letter at their office if you show up.  They told her if the letter never arrives to wait 6 weeks and call their office.  At that point they will mail one more letter to the US citizen and the Mexico citizen's address.  WHAT the blank!  If it does not arrive they will use the same ####### mail service 6 weeks later to mail a new copy.  After waiting for 10 months now this?  I am going to call the consulate's office this morning and will post here what I find.  Stay tuned
