Well, at least it's doing something!
I wonder what your RFE is.

Yeah, and I went through an attorney. One could only wonder. It will take them 2 to 3 days before they actually send the hardcopy and I can find out. I am happy, but discouraged at the same time.

I went through a lawyer/attorney myself. Maybe this shows they didn't do so well in May laughing.gif

Maybe we should just a new thread to support all the May 09 filers with RFE's laughing.gif

I don't know if I should be happy or sad. I guess beggers can't be choosers laughing.gif

I kept saying I wanted something and it came

I do hope its not something complicated because we had everything that they requested. I included my passport copies with all the pages, and pics of our engagement party, and the itinerary. I guess I will not know until Monday.

oh hey..u know my case lol, but for those who doesn't, we are also may '09 applicant and our case also got touched August 27. is it possible NOT to receive an email yet receive the hard copy? (whether it be an RFE or NOA2 -- which i sure hope will be NOA2 lol) and what happens after receiving the NOA2? THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH IN ADVANCE sad.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about the NVC stage
QUOTE (Queeny @ Aug 30 2009, 11:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi VJ family, I just sent my I-130 to USCIS on August 22, 2009 and haven't received the NOA 1 yet. I know it's probably still too early. However to help things along, I want to start preparing the documents I will need to send to NVC when that time comes. My question is will NVC send the package of documents to me directly, i.e., the DS230, etc and then do I send those documents back to them? or do they send them to my hubby in his country and he sends them back? just a little worried becasue he does not read or write English at this point. So I will have to fill them out for him have him to sign before he sends them to NVC. Also what other proof do they usually ask for besides the standard birth certificate, police records, divorce papers.... thank you for your help.

Wow. Grats. You finally made that first step. First of all I suggest that you look around VisaJourney because there's TONS of information here about how to process your petition. Here is a post that will be very useful for your K3 processing smile.gif

hmmmn, did you ever get a NOA1 yet? and a touch can be anything. it can be a NOA1 or 2, an encashment of the check you sent.. and RFE or something.

and yes, you need to fill out the form for change of address or call customer service at 1800 375 5283 on business hours to give them your new address. ohmy.gif it could be your NOA2 sent to a different address! (yes its my intention to cause panic, call asap) laughing.gif gluck wink.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresapplying for 2nd K1
if this is the second time for your k1, i sure hope you have MORE evidence of ongoing relationship between the time you went back here in the Phils until your second application for K1 visa. emails, pictures, cards, snail mail, phone bills (not phone cards), IM's etc (you get the gist).. coz most likely thats what they will look for. not evidence of engagement but evidence of continuous relationship despite the wedding that went kaput. happy.gif

we're already on the second step of the process and well, i can be such a worry freak sometimes and it's normal for me to think of "what if's" -- what would i do if things go wrong and such. after reading your query, i placed myself in your shoes and what i would do is i'd have the wedding here in the philippines instead and then apply for a k3 visa. since it only takes 5months to process, just like a k1 visa.(5months)

and since CSC is actually on track right now and doing well, i wont worry about delays. just a suggestion wink.gif

best of lucks and keep us posted smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThai wedding on a K1
QUOTE (AaronLV @ Sep 8 2009, 06:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
As long as it is not registered it is not a "legal" marriage. Just don't have her mention that she will be getting married in Thailand before going to the US at the interview. We had our ceremony in my wifes hometown, before we did the embassy interview, we just didn't mention it or show any pictures. This is actually a fairly common practice in Thailand with people who are doing a K1. Our attorney told us a majority of their clients end up doing this.

first of all, a K1 visa is a non-immigrant visa and it is clearly stated that this is for a US citizen who wishes to take a foreign FIANCE to the states for marriage. if you get married in Thailand before getting her to the states, she will be refused entry. and no, dont follow the advice saying just "dont declare" that you guys got married in Thailand.

My fiance and I had thought of getting married here in the Philippines but we were advised not to do so because that will void the K1 visa that we filed and we will have to start over again under a k3 visa which is intended for a spouse.

g'luck and grats on the engagement.

A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner?s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner?s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Download Form I-134 at http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis.

they only asked for the affidavit of support and Income Tax Return during my interview, but it wont hurt for your fiance to have W2 and employment certificate or bank record of the petitioner handy. they might ask for it!

(about the evidence of support and his income tax return, this will be asked from during the interview. right now, prepare your most recent ITR, the AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT (HAVE IT NOTARIZED - some say its not needed but better be safe than sorry, you dont want to take chances), FEDEX it to your fiance. PLEASE dont use USPS. i had horror stories about it lol)

good luck and i hope this saves you a lot of time for gathering ur paperworks. i was rushed coz i didnt know about all these other things and i had to reschedule my interview coz i knew i wouldnt have the paperworks ready by then.

you are just on NOA1 and you can never tell if they will request for further evidence (RFE) before issuing you with NOA2 but its good to have all your papers ready as early as possible, so you dont have to cram LIKE I DID dead.gif lol ! good luck and let us know what's up!! smile.gif

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ORIGINALS.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresinterviewed OCTOBER 2009 .. WAITING FOR VISA
Hi everyone, what's up? to those of you who knew me from a few posts.. I have been away from VJ for a while coz i was preparing for my interview which was done last OCT 22, 2009 and I got approved. Right now I'm waiting for my visa to be delivered.

Here in the Philippines, AIR21 is the accredited courrier service by the USEM Manila. I got a text message from them yesterday which I assumed meant they already have my documents headbonk.gif my bad.. it only said :

"AIR21 would like to inform you of your tracking no. for MNL200XXXXXXX is 1608XXXXXXXX. To track its status, log on to www.air21.com.ph"

I logged on but their site is down at the moment so i cant track online.. and called instead. (+63 2 8794747). I was told that they still don't have my documents and that i will receive a text message when it is ready to be delivered.

as some of you may know, i most of the time have a case of excessive worrying dead.gif i have been reading threads of people here in the phils who got their visa on hand within 5 days, 7 days max, w/c means AIR21 got their documents 3 days from their interview date and was able to deliver it the next day. it's been 7 days since my interview.. i wouldnt be worrying this much if i havent got tickets yet dry.gif ! my flight is on november 10. i know i know, i have time. but heck, im not done with the CFO yet.

what do you guys recommend for me to do? i am worried if there is anything wrong with my papers or what not. and.. i know i am bound to contact the embassy soon. do any of you know the number to call here in manila?

thanks! sorry im out of sorts at the moment ClockWatch2.gif

i had a bit of struggle only on "proof of engagement" as i was not sure how to show that we communicate regularly - we only used skype to call each other, we dont email on a regular basis, we dont do snail mail...so i printed out receipt payments from paypal for our skype credits, my facebook emails with his mom, a few pictures and the receipts and boaring passes that we had. the consular officer asked why i pay for skype, he was like "i thought skype was free, why pay for it?" and i told him "well, you can get credits with ur CC /paypal so you can make international fone calls on a cheap rate.. then he only looked at 6 out of 15 pictures i presented then said "congratulations, your visa is approved" then handed me my pink slip happy.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOn Going Relationship Evidence
hey hey.. grats on the NOA2! there will be a lot of action upcoming now lol ...

anyway, i had a bit of struggle only on "proof of engagement" as well... as i was not sure how to show that we communicate regularly - we only used skype to call each other, we dont email on a regular basis, we dont do snail mail...so i printed out receipt payments from paypal for our skype credits(she can bring phone bills / phone records of ur communication), my facebook emails with his mom, a few pictures and the receipts and boarding passes that we had.

the proof of on going relationship can also come from ur side. if u have any gift you have sent her, you may send her the receipts when you bought them.

and also, during my interview, i was asked if he ever sends me money and i only said "just a few times in the past" and then i was asked if i have receipts but i didnt bring them with me. i was advised before that its not a good "frontline" evidence as they might get the impression that money is involved in the relationship. thats about all of the things i brought with me. as long as u are properly documented, then u shoudl be fine. and if neither of u had a previous marriage, then the interview will be a breeze smile.gif

oh and btw, when we got our NOA2, this page was very helpful for me:

- evidence of engagement (receipts of gifts you bought for each other, emails, snail mails, phone records, photographs
- VISA PHOTOGRAPHS
- medical examination @ accredited hospital in your area (here in the phils, we have to take it at least a week before the interview, that way, if anything goes wrong, there is ample time to make ammendments and the medical exam will be ready for the interview do a lil research, idk about ur place lol XD)

(about the evidence of support and his income tax return, it will be asked from you during the interview. right now, have him prepare his ITR, prepare the AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT AND HAVE IT NOTARIZED, FEDEX it to you. PLEASE dont use USPS. i had horror stories about it lol)

i had a bit of struggle only on "proof of engagement" as i was not sure how to show that we communicate regularly - we only used skype to call each other, we dont email on a regular basis, we dont do snail mail...so i printed out receipt payments from paypal for our skype credits, my facebook emails with his mom, a few pictures and the receipts and boaring passes that we had. the consular officer asked why i pay for skype, he was like "i thought skype was free, why pay for it?" and i told him "well, you can get credits with ur CC /paypal so you can make international fone calls on a cheap rate.. then he only looked at 6 out of 15 pictures i presented then said "congratulations, your visa is approved" then handed me my pink slip biggrin.gif

good luck and i hope this saves you a lot of time for gathering ur paperworks. i was rushed coz i didnt know about all these other things and i had to reschedule my interview coz i knew i wouldnt have the paperworks ready by then.

you are just on NOA1 and you can never tell if they will request for further evidence (RFE) before issuing you with NOA2 but its good to have all your papers ready as early as possible, so you dont have to cram LIKE I DID sleep.gif lol ! good luck and let us know what's up!! smile.gif

P.S. they only asked for the affidavit of support and Income Tax Return, but it wont hurt to have his W2 and employment certificate; bank record handy. they might ask for it! good luck !! <3

THERE IS IN FACT A WAY TO CHECK IT ONLINE for the update of your status. here's the website:

https://egov.uscis.g...tomerRegSave.do

goodluck <3

This site does not allow you to check your status at NVC. It is only for the USCIS portion of the process. The only way to check the status of a K-1 petition at NVC is to call and talk to an operator: K-1s are not generally entered into the automated system, so attempting to obtain your status through the AVR will result in a "case not found" response.

my bad. you are right i take that back lol XD

I am just a little ahead of you my friend and will tell you what has happened so far for us.

i received a letter from the NVC stating that they received the approval of eligibility from the USCIS. The first bill is $70 and you will have to send in DS-3032 choice of agent and address form. I know that an choice of agent and address form was sent with the USCIS form but another one has to be completed since it is with a different agency i suppose. I paid for and sent that form in this month as of October 6th. Amazingly 20 days later on october 26th i receive another request for payment. This one is $400 which is the IV fee and i have to send in the I-864 affidavit of support forms which i will sent tomorrow via Fed Ex. I sent the first set of documents Fed Ex as well. So that is where i am at, just two or three steps ahead of you. Concerning the website, the only thing that i have found so far is the payment online section, but that is not eligible until you receive your first request for payment because you will need numbers from that form to enter into the payment site with. I am not familiar with the faxing of packet three. I hope this helps because it can be very confusing. A friend of mine went through this with him wife about 7 years ago and he thought he was all familiar with the process and forms. Just from then to now things have changed dramatically. i will just be very happy once i have my wife with me and to be done with all of this. Please if you just let me know how things are going for you in the process. You may come across something that i could learn and we can help each other if and when it is needed. Take care and i wish you all the best of luck..paul

There is a program that you can use to export Skype history into a CSV file. Skype exporter, or something like that. With a little bit of "googling" I think you should be able to find it.

I researched on that and found this link: http://www.amperordi...e-call-log.html

I hope this helps. I need to know this, too. smile.gif

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS PROGRAM! We are still waiting for our NOA2 and I want to be prepared if in case we receive an RFE before the NOA2. I found out that with using this program, I can save all the inbound/outbound calls i have on skype and it was easier to mange it in MS Excel format.

WHAT I DID:

After downloading the program and extracting calls, click on SAVE LINK.

IMPORTANT: Chose HTML format

Chose which folder to save it. at the end of the filename, typed .xls at the end of the filename.

Saved as excel format and deleted other calls that I didn't want to include. yes.gif

This is awesome!!! THANK U THANK U SO MUCH i needed it!! when it was already in excel file, it was so much easier to filter it! THANKS AGAIN!!

I'm so glad I read this thread!! I also thought of getting ALL the vaccines while I'm here in the Philippines. Right now I think I will just get the basic ones (influenza, measles and hepa A and cool.gif but will talk to my doctor if I can get more of those. We are currently waiting for NOA2, we didn't get an email but the USCIS automated thing said that they already sent an I-797 to him in Anchorage. He is in Prudhoe at the moment and won't be able to check his mail until he gets home! I'm getting anxious sleep.gif

Good luck to everyone!! smile.gif

And your birth certificate.

grats on NOA2! We just got one as well smile.gif and yeah i know how you feel about checking and rechecking then checking yet again to make sure everything is complete. we have not received the hard copy yet and there will be more info on the packet 3 that your fiance will be receiving.

btw, what is the DS 230 for? i didn't see that in the forms listed for the requirements needed for the interview. thanks

good job gathering the paperworks!! and congrats on the approval. as long as you are properly documented and know everything there is to know about your fiance, then things should be fine. good luck on your interview and let us know what happens happy.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Process
i am not sure about how many interview/s for Canada. But here in the Phils, we only have one interview.

during my interview there were a few petitioners who went with their fiancee during the interview. i wound not say it is THAT helpful that the petitioner is present. there were 3 that were declined that day who were with the petitioner. your fiance being there with you doesn't guarantee approval. it is the documents that you present that still counts. if neither of you have been married in the past, well documented, then your interview will be a breeze!

if one / either of you have had marriages before, make sure that you have all the paperworks needed (marriage certificates and annulment / divorce papers) and make sure you know all information that might be asked about the previous marriage/s. there was one case where in the interview went as follows:

(the petitioner was present, this was during my interview date)

CO: "So how long has he been divorced?"
Benificiary: "About 5 years"
CO: "I see. how did you guys meet?"
B: "We met here last year during his vacation at Subic Bay and kept in touch since then."
-- CO asked couple other questions NOT related about the Petitioner's previous marriage --
CO: "Where will you stay when you get there?"
B: "At his apartment."
CO: "Who will be living with you?"
B: "Just the two of us."
CO: "What year was he divorced?"
B: "Uhmm.. 2002, i think"

This raised a flag -- she was hesitant to answer and was not accurate with the date she gave. She was asked several other questions and her fiance was not allowed to speak up for her. They were asked a few more questions and had a hard time with some other questions. I think their interview went on for like 25mins.

so yeah, not just because the petitioner is present means that you will be approved. make sure you are well documented and know all information about ur fiance (especially dates) and watch out for trick questions! lol!

you still have ample time to prepare your documents and know about everything you need to know abotu your fiance!! good luck!! <3
