K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNumber of passport photos
hi. we just sent our petition a month ago. I thought all was well and good until my fiance asked me how many passport photos we sent for each of us. I actually do not remember! (I am forgetful sometimes >_<) I asked him why. he said he read cases of denial because they only sent one of each (beneficiary and petitioner). so being the nervous me, I searched the Internet for that and everything I read said one passport photo for the beneficiary and for the petitioner. not contented, I searched the forums of VJ. I came across one thread that asked that. and the answers were kinda confusing. some said two, others said one. so now I am very confused. is it really one photo of each or two? please help! we are now very nervous and worried to be denied because of such a simple and stupid mistake as the number of passport photo to be submitted. I know you all understand how the waiting SUCKS. sad.gif thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresconfused about a question in DS 156
hi. i'm currently filling out the DS 156 form. on question #36, it asks "Has Anyone Ever Filed an Immigrant Visa Petition on Your Behalf?" my dad has been petitioned by his brother (F4 visa category i believe) and that includes my mom and all of us, his children. i do not really know what happened to that petition (if it was discontinued or still current). my question is, what should i answer to question #36? should i answer yes and write my uncle? or no? i really need your help. thanks in advance!

ps. i am very grateful to this site. it is such a huge help to me and my fiance! kudos guys! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to change consulate
Hi there! we are on the same boat except that my case is not with the NVC yet as far as we know.. but then, when we received our approval last MAy 12, it still says Abu Dhabi Consulate and i am back in the Philippines. When i arrived Philippines, my Fiance sent out a letter to Vermont to change my address and consulate, he even went to a field service center for an infopass to change it, yet nothing was done. Now our problem is also changing it since we already have the approval. Hope anyone from the VJ people can help us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbu Dhabi Police Clearance

Anyone of you experienced getting a police clearance in ABU DHABI and staying here in the Philippines?
do I need to fill up a form? and where can I get it?

God Bless!

Hi there!

this is what it says in the travel state website: http://travel.state....l?cid=9666#docs

Police Records
Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.

Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.

Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

You can visit the website and check the reciprocity by country. :) hope that helps..

Just to let you know guys ...I spoke to one of VSC officers yesterday ..by using RFE...first of all he does not know what he is talking about ..He told me he cannot give any info on my case ...call same number but donot enter receipt number ...or check on online ....blah blah ..etc

Secondly he told me they donot have enough staff....hiring more ppl and training them at another facility ...bringing them back to work ...this process is going to take 2-3 months ...then things may get better...etc

Sarah and LOTO ...etc...here is an idea I think we need to suggest USCIS(VSC etc) ...we can do volunteer work (without pay ) for a week or so ...rotating all VJ'ers every week at service centers ...that way gov save money and it reduces ISD symptoms lol rofl.gif rofl.gif ....I am ready for volunteer work lol

Sgr, I'm more than happy to step in and do some volunteer work for VSC ..... oh, that's right, I need my visa rofl.gif rofl.gif

Funny you should mention that they do not have enough staff, I was thinking the same thing ..... however, I'm sure there's tons of illegals that would gladly help them out for some cash 'under the table' rofl.gif .... this system of employment seems to work very well for British Immigration rofl.gif

Hi Fellows, somehow as i read all these stories from this forum you made me smiled, laughed and forget the frustrations of getting a positive developments to our case/s respectively. This never ending horror experiences of waiting for the approvals from VSC, creates so much depression to us. Hopefuly, Vermont will fast track the processing already. Goodluck to all of us. Take care guys.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNo longer VALID I-129F for VERMONT K3 Petitioners
QUOTE (Sky2k @ May 20 2008, 10:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's true that VSC is not approving K3. I have not seen any K3 approval from VSC in last 6 months. On the other side, VSC is moving faster than CSC on the I-130 petitions about 4-6 weeks ahead. So, the amount of time you save at VSC helps you for the time you would spend at NVC. The whole purpose of K3 was to save time. At the end, K3 from CSC and I-130 from VSC take almost the same time maybe 2-3 weeks extra, but would save so much trouble and paper work for AOS.

Thanks at least you did understand my post. Yeah Vermont process first the I-130 when approves I-129F will be no longer valid as per USCIS, NVC will send letter/notification to the Petitioner. They are doing this to save time and expedite the processing period. God bless.

Cheers!

I don't really understand this post. If your I130 was approved and you are a CR1 filer how will your case skip the steps of the NVC processing? Thats standard procedure for an immigrant visa. You will have to pay for the immigrant vis which is $400 before you leave NVC so I am confused by your post.

Plus the only people under the rule of having to wait for a certain amount of visas per year are LPR, not USC. USC get priorty and there is no waiting period for a green card for their family, but that doesn't mean that there aren't standard processings you must still go thru. So this is why i am confused. If your petition goes thru NVC in a couple of days and gets forwarded to manilla embassy, then you are not getting an immigrant visa, your getting a non-immigrant visa (K3) and will need to file AOS to become a permanent resident.

First let me correct you, we are NOT A CR1 FILER. Second i apologized if u get confused with my post, my only advised try to read it again and again for you to understand it (no offensement). As i said USCIS has different intrepretations about the rules & procedures how to process K3 visas. Technically we also didnt know what happened to our K3 visa since our I-130 approved and I-129F was no longer valid. Inorder to clarify issues re. K3, we called and spoke to the TWO (2) USCIS Officers named: Miranda & Aimee, whatever information they told us that was the origin of our post! THE USCIS Officers same words!!! Being the K3 petitioner/beneficiary, whatever information we may get from these people matters to us. Now, if u want to dig up more details you can call USCIS and share your own experiences and sentiments and u let us know here in VJ'es too, because as far as our concerned we only hopes to get assistance from the so-called expert-USCIS if they are whole bunch of liars there, that i dont really know. Thank you.

So you called USCIS? haha might as well forget what they tell you, they make up answers on the fly.

Yeah! Sometimes we really didnt know already what happens next. unsure.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNo longer VALID I-129F for VERMONT K3 Petitioners
Hello my fellow VJ'ers!, My husband just spoke to a USCIS Officer Miranda regarding our K3 visa status: I-130 approved / I-129f pending. According to the USCIS Officer "since the I-130 has been approved first, the I-129F is no longer valid. The I-129F's only purpose is to speed up the process Only IF the I-130 has NOT been approved first. But, since our I-130 has been approved first; the Vermont office forwarded our case to the NVC and NVC immediately assigned us the MNL2008xxxxxx case number and is now awaiting to be sent to the USEM Consulate-MANILA for IMMEDIATE processing. Then the Beneficiary will be contacted regarding the Medical, Interview & Visa.

Moreover, per USCIS since my husband is a U.S. Citizen we will not go for CR1 / IR1 route because being married to a US Citizen we will be awarded immigrant visa immediately. It is his lawful right as an american that his/her family and children under 21 years of age be awarded immediate permanent resident status. Greencards will be issued within 90 days after the USEM-consulate awards the visa. (ofcourse this will eliminates USCIS further applications for AOS to be processed in the future)

While for those US RESIDENT K3 Petitioner/s, when their I-130 was approved first than I-129F they MUST file for CR1 / IR1 immediately to save time and have to wait for the 3 months process. There are only a limited amount of visa/s issued per year that's why sometimes it takes a year to be granted a visa.

The greatest concern for most of us is this: WHY DOES CSC APPROVES 1-130 & I-129F? WHY VSC ONLY APPROVES I-130 & NOT THE I-129F?

USCIS Answer: CSC approves both petition because they process first the I-129F, the moment I-129F was approved they also approved the I-130 and send both to NVC. While Vermont processing procedure is to approved first I-130 and cancelled the I-129F (thats the reason why USCIS waived the fee processing for I-129F) This is to expedite the process and lessen the backlogs of VSC.

Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be more specific and detailed in my hopes on being able to Aid my co-vj'ers who have the same or similar case as ours. Anyhow, Everyone is invited to leave a commentary on this post, since we all know that USCIS sometimes has its own interpretations regarding the K3Visa's.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNEW RULES: Before submitting Pkg3, read this!!!
Im from the Philippines and we were also required to submit passport pictures, which they did not indicate on package 3. After which, they will send you an RFE informing you of this new requirement.

Suggestion: If you do not get any letter from the NVC within 2 weeks, call right away and inquire about your case status. The operator will tell you what missing doc, or incomplete/wrong filing in the DS-230.

I guess this new requirement applies to all...

Hi people. It is my first time to post here.

Our petition is currently with the NVC. Our DS230 was received by them last Jan 25.

This morning, I got this reply on my e-mail:

"Dear Sir,

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

A letter was mailed to the Agent of Choice or Attorney of Record requesting the amendment of previously submitted applicant forms and/or required applicant documents that have not been submitted. The documents listed on the letter and/or the amended forms must be submitted to the NVC in order to complete the processing of this petition.

If the beneficiary needs another form, please visit http://travel.state..../info_1335.html to download a copy of the DS-230 and/or the instructions. If you do not have access to the internet, you may wish to visit your local library or an internet café."

Last Monday, my wife called and checked with NVC the status of our petition and she was told that the forms and documents submitted are still for review.

Can anyone help me out here coz we are quite confused on what is happening right now? Should we call again or wait for any reply from the NVC to arrive?

I look on the UPS site and it states that my papers did get received at the Chicago PO box. I really hope it did not get lost or anything. How long does it normally take for them to send the NOA1 and when I do get that NOA1 in the mail will I have a confirmation number on how to check on my paper work and what to do next. I am really new to this Visa Journey stuff and my wife knows more than I do. She wants me to be on here a lot more so you will probably get to hear me asking a lot of question within the next few weeks. Any good advice I can take from the people who will read this on what is the best ways to get my wife here and what should I do. It's so hard being far away from each other and it's having an affect on both us. We are going for the CR 1 and my father is going to the joined sponsor for us. Does anyone have any good details to help me with. Whatever that works I want to hear about it. I got many questions so give me a holler back. Thank you and God bless.

The husband, Israel

A month for me as well. Dont worry it'll be knocking at your door before you know it. You must be prepared for the NOA2 waiting time. Processing time for the approval takes way longer than the receipt. And this site will surely give you an idea on what to expect. Welcome to VJ! biggrin.gif

Hello, today I went online to check the "online payment center" and the IV Fee of $400 showed up as waiting to be paid, so I paid it. When I called to check on Yizhen's DS-3032, change of address and email, they did show receipt of the DS-3032! and I mentioned that I paid the IV Fee today. They asked how I paid the bill, since it has not been billed yet? I said it showed up on the online payment site this morning so I paid it. Did I do something wrong? or will their computer be updated with the billing soon? Early this morning, the IV Fee portion of the billing said "not processed", then about 10:30am, it said $400 due, so I paid it. I hope this won't cause a problem. If anyone knows anything, please help us. Thanks, Mike & Yizhen

after you signed in, it takes you to the invoice page. the AOS fee shows paid, and the IV fee shows not paid? yes. go to the receipt page, and at the top it shows AOS fee, then IV fee right underneath, click on IV feeit should show in process, it might even show in process before you highlight IV fee. I hope this helps, Mike & Yizhen

I understand what you meant. I also clicked on the RECEIPT tab to see if it will appear there but there's nothing. Only the AOS bill payment shows there. And the IV Application Processing Fees says NOT PAID, and the box is still clickable. Does that mean that the payment we made was unsuccessful?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIV Bill Payment online
Guys! I just paid the IV bill online. After I filled it out I clicked on the "ACH Payment" something box on the lower right side of the page then it became "Go to Invoice Page". So I clicked that as well, however when I went there it still shows NOT PAID. It was different when i paid my AOS coz it immediately showed IN PROCESS and I was prompted to send the receipt to my email, now it didnt happen. i signed out and in but it still shows NOT PAID. Is that normal?

I called NVC today and they really said that they did not yet receive the AOS form for me but receive the biographic form which is the DS-230, but when
I checked also the case number of my daughter, on her case the AVR says documents were received it did not says that its awaiting for AOS form for my daughter. Im confused.. our atty send both docs same date and why is my daughter's(10y.o.) case didnt mention that its awaiting for her AOS form. Please help me

im not sure if this will help but for my case we just sent one package for all documents. Coz it's like the AOS bill is just one for me and my daughter (I am the principal applicant) though i filled out separate forms for each of us we just indicated in our cover sheet that the documents are for me and my daughter. Did you do the same?

Also, every time I call NVC I always ask the status for both cases. Before you call, list down all the questions you want and need to ask. =) Hope this helps.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOctober I-130 approvals!!! Onward to NVC!!!
Congratulations to all of us who has been approved this Oct. I called NVC today and spoke with a rep. I got our NVC Case number but accdg to her the Invoice Identification Number is going to be sent to the petitioner and beneficiary by mail and she said something like "it will take 3-4 weeks to process..." i didnt catch it exactly. generally how long should it take (after the approval) for them to generate the DS3032 and AOS? and to get the IIN?
