US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Help (Expert's Advice Needed)

Lots of things change during the process. The DS230 has become obsolete too, by the way.

People are being asked to submit the online DS260 now (in replacement of the paper DS230).  https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

You can bring a new DS230 on your interview day OR you can inform the consul about the "change".

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Help (Expert's Advice Needed)

Education does not matter.  You will neither be approved nor denied based on your education.  The consul will NOT ask for diplomas and certificates.

They will be much concerned about POLICE certificates.

Mere admittance is enough to get a visa denial.

The good thing is, the ban has been reduced to a year.

If you can't make time for the visa, how else will you get it? Next time, leave earlier or find a place much closer to the embassy.

Good luck.

As I've said, it depends on the consul.  There's no guarantee.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfiance dont have work!!!!

You can get a joint sponsor but it depends on the consul's discretion if its acceptable or not.  US Embassy Manila is known for being very picky when it comes to K1 joint sponsors so its a 50-50 chance of approval.

Find a joint sponsor who is an immediate family (parent or sibling).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam

Only accredited medical facilities by the US Department of State are allowed to decide whether we pass the medical exam or not.

Even if you go to 10 other hospitals to have 10 different xrays, if they are not accredited by DOS, the US Embassy won't accept it.

The US is very concerned when it comes to tuberculosis.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew DR Rules for Children?

My husband said he heard yesterday on Dominican television that it is taking 2 years for children (under 21) to complete the immigrant visa process to the US. Is anyone familiar with new regulations or related press releases from the DR Consulate? I found NOTHING in online.

Is this the lag time for permanent residents who are petition?I am an American citizen and will be petitioning now for my stepson.

I did the find on the DoS page about filing immediately after the I-130 is received, for a nonimmigrant visa (K4).

Anyone have info regarding this process/changes to the process? Gracias!

Processing time for children (>21) of LPRs (F2A category) is different for children (>21) of USCs (IR2/CR2).  F2A is the same for almost all countries except for F2A Mexico.

F2A will take a year or more, while IR2/CR2 will take more or less a year.

F2A processing times via the Visa Bulletin:  http://travel.state....y/bulletin.html

Basically, IR2/CR2 is quicker.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Appointment Issues!!!!!!

Yes you still can proceed with the K1/K2. I am sure they will tell you the same thing that they cannot issue a visa to a u.s. citizen for your child but be firm that you are pursuing this since you already have approved papers for K1/K2 and will be choosing this route. My husband spoke to the officer while I was there at (ACS) american citizen services 523-1001 ext 2335 however, this was way long ago am not sure if they still have the same number. The ACS vice consul give me a certification and he put in there that I have insufficient requirements for CRBA since we did not submit anything and did not proceed with this route therefore, they let me proceed with K4 and I still have to arm rustle with the other fellow in there. They told me in person that yes I can go ahead and proceed with the K visa after I kept arguing why would they approved our petition if they know that they cannot issue a visa to my child. Even at the day of my interview, the filipino guy inside the embassy still giving me a hard time but after I ask for his supervisor, they let me proceed to the window for my final stop the visa consular officer. It wasn't easy but We did it...Good luck!

The "certification" that they gave you is the CRBA DENIAL, that's why they let you pursue the visa for the child.

The same thing with mayno71, they have to have their CRBA denied as well before USEM will issue a visa for the child.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Appointment Issues!!!!!!

she's technically not a US citizen yet, and she already has a Philippines passport. i just checked the CRBA appt calendar and there's nothing available for several months. gezz, this is getting overwhelming. :( our file is already at the Manila embassy, i wish the NVC figured this out before sending it to the embassy.

Your daughter is a US citizen by birth UNLESS proven otherwise.  That's the premise.  Now, NVC doesn't scrutinize K1 applications unlike they do to immigrant visa applications because all they provide for K1 is the case numbers then transmit it to the local embassies.

USEM is the one whose going to check all your paperwork.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Appointment Issues!!!!!!

nevermind...i re-read it, looks like my fiance needs to bring it to the Manila Embassy interview. so much info and details...ugh.

are you sure about that? they have already approved the petition with my daughter already having my last name on her birth certificate. how do you know this?

i'm already deep into the K1 visa process.

Yes I'm sure because the Embassy will not grant a visa to a US citizen (unless they deny your CRBA).  That's why its advisable to file CRBA first.  If you're having doubts, call the US Embassy.

apple21FemalePhilippines2014-06-06 17:25:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Appointment Issues!!!!!!

No, i didn't do the CRBA yet. i didn't want to do 2 things at the same time. i was worried that if i do the CRBA and the K1 visa is in process it might complicate things. our file is already at the Manila Embassy. once the K1 is approved and they are here in the US, i will get her USC here.

regarding the AOS (I-134), when/where is that submitted? sorry, i got confused on the fees...looks like there's no filing fees. thanks  again for your help.

The child will be denied the K2 visa because she has claim to US citizenship.  You should file CRBA for her first.

If in the event that the CRBA is denied, that's the time you can chase the K2 or IR2.
