Filipinas don't have to brag in this thread if they are highly educated or not. We can discern who are the highly educated and not too highly educated by reading their posts and how their English grammar and spelling stand up.

We don't have to boast that we are accountants or nurses or computer experts. This thread sucks! star_smile.gif

Well sir, at least we can speak English and most people can understand us, if our English is not perfect, that's because it's not our primary language. How about you? Can you speak Filipino huh? Are you bilingual like us? Being able to speak English is not the only way to tell if the person is educated or not, I guess you should know that.

Anyway mga pinays, count me in, BSBA Management smile.gif

QUOTE (jom @ Mar 4 2009, 02:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am sorry to hear about your situation.

I have 4 stepchildren ...2 grown-up girls from the first marriage, but they are on their own and two wonderful boys ( 7 and 8) from the second marriage. We have the boys every other weekend. My husband is strict and definitely a disciplinarian, that is probably the reason why the girls and boys grew up to be polite. I have a good relationship with all of them and I must say that previous parenting has got to do with it. My stepsons know better than to bad mouth their father or me. In fact I am really impressed because they even ask permission in almost everything like having a soda or treats or going out to play with the neighbors or using the computer to play a game and even using the phone to call their Mom when they are with us.

Don't sulk. Keeping it to yourself wont solve your problem. Instead talk to your husband about these things. You cannot let these kids manipulate you. My eldest stepson tried that to the point of even asking me to get him a glass . . I would tell him that God gave him hands so he better use it and that he is old enough to tend to himself with simple tasks. My husband and I have set simple rules for them and they cannont play until they are being done . The boys must fix their own beds or they must put their plates in the sink and rinse them after eating, they will pick up their own toys and mess. If they don't do these things, they can't play. They know the consequences so in a way they obey.

Your husband must help you with this situation because honestly you wont be able to change things by yourself, you husband must make sure his kids understand that you must be respected. My husband made it clear to the girls and even to the boys that if they disrespect me, he will deal with them harshly. He also made it clear that if they cause trouble betweem him and me, he will choose me.

Talk to your husband about your feelings. Make sure that when he talks to his kids about their behaviour you are there and you must also be able to express your feelings to his kids. Let them know you are hurt with some of the things they do or say to you. Not flushing the toilet is disgusting and this behaviour calls for a drastic change. Set consequences if they keep doing it. Your husband will play a big role in making changes to all these so you must talk to him.

Goodluck and I hope everything will be better.

I'm a registered nurse back home, not over here. So for the meantime i am mastering changing adult diapers and wiping poop! blush.gif But i'm working on getting a state license.

I am also an RN , and a lawyer back in the Philippines but now working as a Certtified Nursing Assistant in Ocala while waiting for the Florida Board of Nursing to authorize me to take the NCLEX-RN. I chose the CNA course to reintroduce me to the medical field since I stopped working as a nurse in 1998 and "relocated" to the field of law. Anyhow, I am proud of what I am doing. In a way, I feel good when the patients thank me for what I do for them , especially when I see that big smile on their faces.

There are many highly educated Filipinos ( even judges, lawyers, principals ) who come to the USA and work as caregivers for 6 months then go home with a lot of money, this is a fact. We Filipinos are very hardworking and the main drive is our families. Whatever we are doing, we should be proud of it no matter how "low" the postion is, at least we are earning and not depending on somebody else to feed us.

It also took me sometime before getting a job but with persistence , I landed one. The pay is great and although I drive 45minutes each way to and from work I am enjoying my job and I am earning again.

Americans grew up speaking and writing English but a lot of them also commit mistakes with their grammar and spelling so expect a Filipino who grew up speaking another dialect to commit the same mistakes. We know the English language, I guess our main problem is how to express ourselves using it. I know a few who are still struggling with their communication skills but they are trying and learning, that is the most important thing.

I am proud of everyone here. Let us always aim high and be proud of what we do.

Godbless us all.

Even if we are a registered nurse in our country we cannot work as a CNA right away here in the US. We have to either attend classes or just challenge the CNA test, depends on what state you are. Here in Missouri i started as NA then challenged the CNA test after couple of weeks. This was the very first job that i applied after getting my work permit which took me 9 months to have. I was so bored being at home doing nothing so i was so happy when they called me for interview. At first, it was really different from what i am used to when i'm still in PI working as a nurse. My 1st and 2nd day were a nightmare, i almost gave up. But i told myself if others can do it why can't i? And i guess it really helps a lot when almost all the people at work likes you, i was even voted as EMPLOYEE of the MONTH last September. I'm not boasting but i can say that i really deserve such accomplishment, i know i'm doing all the best that i can. I am glad that the administrator noticed my commitment and hard work to everything i do.

I just sent a request to the Missouri Health and Senior Services that i'm going to challenge the CMT (certified medication tech) test, with a good recommendation from our DON of course. It will mean an easier job for me and more money on my paychecks. I'm also planning to send my application for the NCLEX-RN, but right now i can't afford it. I still have to send my kids AOS and it will cost us a fortune to be able to do that.

I agree to what you said, it doesn't matter on what job or position we have here in the US, what is important is we are of help to our love ones. In fact, what i am earning right now is much better that what i earned when i was working as a nurse in PI. Who cares what other people will say about us being a registered nurse and just ended up working as a CNA. I love to take care of people, that what matters most.

GOD BLESS!

PhilippinesAffidavit from biological father
QUOTE (happywifeymom @ Mar 5 2009, 10:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello Vj members,

Just wanna make sure about this issue. My kids are using the father's name eventhough we were never married legally. We are on the process of getting them through I-130.

My question is:

1.-Do i need to find the father to get his permission to allow my kids to travel and live with me? I mean do i need an affidavit from him giving me the kid's full custody when my kids are with me?I don't even know if he is still alive..how can i get an affidavit from him? .He don't have signature on the kid's Birth certificate but kids are using his name..No contact, no support no nothing.

2.-DOes he have the right to my kids the fact that we were not married? and no signature on the Birth Certificate?

Pls. Help me. I would appreciate any ideas.

Hi! I agree to everyone here who replied to your post. I had been in your shoes before we started our visa journey. My children were also registered under their father's name, wherein fact we are not married. It didn't create any problem at all, even from the start. The most important thing is that you can prove the embassy that you are the mother which your name appears on their birth certificate.
Our visas been released with no hassles, and we are here in the US for almost 2 years now.

GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!

PhilippinesChildrens' birth certs falsely stating a date/place of marriage
I had the same problem before my fiance' (husband now) starts with our immigration process. I have children from my previous relationship which of course there's no marriage that took place. The kids use their biological father's surname, it even has date and place of marriage. I was so worried that time thinking it would be a big issue throughout the whole immigration process that includes applying for their passport. My husband even suggested to talk to a lawyer but i didn't do it knowing that it would cost a fortune. So what i did was i went to DSWD that is across to my apartment. I sought some advice and they referred me to the main office, DSWD in Legarda St., (i'm not so sure). I got lucky to talked to one of their nicest and friendliest counselor which told me what to do. She told me that i would obtain affidavit of explanation of a false marriage from an attorney. She even referred me to an attorney-at-law who is an expert doing such stuff, and had an office at the front of the building. I went there and explained my case, she asked for the kids BC's and made the affidavits (all notarized) while i'm waiting. It didn't took me an hour to do that, went back to DSWD and showed the affidavits, paid a certain amount(can't remember how much) and give papers that i have to show at the DFA when i apply for the kid's passports. The counselor even advised me that the biological father has no right to the kids since we are not married. I have full custody of them.

I didn't had any problem when i applied for the kid's passports, i just showed the notarized affidavits. The same thing during our interview at the embassy, we got our visas with no delay. The CO didn't even asked why my kids have different names from mine. He just asked simple questions about my fiance' and he approved our visas.

By the way, i paid 200pesos for the affidavits. That all i spent. No attorney's fees and other hidden charges.... laughing.gif

Another practice of the villagers of this province, is to drench the paraders to signify the baptism of Jesus. This signifies a religious and spiritual purifying rite to the people of Batangas.

PINTADOS FESTIVAL
June 29 - Tacloban City, Leyte
Pintados is a derivation of the word "tattoos", that signify courage, rank and strength. The most anticipated aspect of the Pintados Festival is the parade of festive dancers painted from head to toe with designs that use astounding arrays of colors.

CHRISTMAS
The Philippines is the only Asian country that is predominantly Christian. Majority of its people are Roman Catholic. The Philippine Christmas celebration is said to be the longest and merriest celebration in the world. Misa de gallo, dawn masses celebrated with the first peal of church bells, are traditionally held starting December 16. Stories tell that in the 17th century, a priest combined Catholic rites with the farmers’ native thanksgiving to harvest gods before they start their day. This is followed by a hearty breakfast.

The most popular symbol of Philippine Christmas is the parol (lantern). It represents the star of Bethlehem which symbolically guided the Messiah to the manger. The Paskuhan Village, Asia’s Star Attraction, is a tribute to Filipino craftsmen as expressed by the star-shaped pavilion at the center of the village.

ATI-ATIHAN
January - Kalibo, Aklan
One of the most popular of the Philippine festivals, the Ati-atihan is a celebration in honor of the Sto. Niño. Revelers don colorful costumes and paint their bodies black and dance to the distictive beat of "Hala bira!" around the town.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
a pleasant good day everyone. it is indeed a wonderful morning to wake up after being APPROVED from our interview yesterday. yesterday was my interview with my kids as derivatives and thanks GOD we were APPROVED! it was a very long wait at the embassy for we went out almost 2pm for some reasons, but i guess it's worth the wait. i was been worried i would be put on AR because of my kids. well, i have 4 kids as derivatives. i am not married to their father but the kids are using the surname of their father. i thought it would raise a red flag since its not normal for a filipina having 4 kids without marriage. i even brought an affidavit of explanation and affidavit of illegitimacy to prove that i did not married their father but the consul didnt even bothered to ask. i offered it but he said its not needed anyway. the prescreener did asked for my CENOMAR, but i guess they already did a background check on me beforehand, thats why they didnt asked for additional documents.
the funny thing was i brought with me "half of the house" of all the necessary papers i could think of, but they only asked for my BC, and my kids BC's as well, NBI, CENOMAR, affidavit of support, photocopy of my fiance's 2006 W2 and form 1040, and more pictures of us together. i asked if they still want more papers, like letter of employment, bank letters, paystubs, emails and chat logs but the prescreener said that i had enough from the files my fiance submitted to USCIS. so we went home with all the stuffs we brought along with us...LOL!
the consul asked few questions like, how did we met? how many times he came to visit me. did he ever met the kids. what is my fiance's job. i think its more of a conversation rather than an interview. he asked me if what i am doing here. i said i am a "registered nurse sir," he repeated what i said. a "registered nurse?" i said yes. he exclaimed, "oh wow, you have every chance to earn much when you get to the United States." i said " i am hoping for that sir. i would surely work if given proper work permit." he said, " you will surely be granted for that.".
he looked over the pictures i submitted, he asked " did you made all of these?" i said "yes, sir." "you did a good job on it, i better return these to you." well, i made a scrapbook out of our pictures together, with some designs. i guess i gave him a good impression out of them...LOL!
he told the kids to go to school when they get into the united states for he dont like to see more out of school youths there.
the last few words he said," your papers looks fine, and i would approve your petition. congratulations and good luck! go back to your seat and wait for your # to be called again." oh my, i thought the whole world stopped on me. i was so happy to hear those words. with so much excitement i asked him " sir, can i resign from my job now?" LOL! he said "just wait for your visa before you resign."
i dont know how many "thank you" i gave to the consul... it was indeed a very wonderful day for us.
i would like to say thank you to all who shares their ideas of this whole process. it really been a great help for me.
GOOD DAY EVERYONE and GOD BLESS!

Hi Shape:

Thanks for sharing this with us. The details I sent through text also specifies my married name and was wondering if we can still correct this at Delbros standpoint. I plan on calling Robbie later as I will also fax him the copy of my Metrobank payment slip together with my interview appointment details. I'll ask for his inputs regarding this matter.

Btw, I remember Robbie (Delbros) asked for my maiden name when I called him up to correct our Manila Case # on their records database.

Hi Cass, kindly give me the email address of nvc, i want to inquire something about our K3 petition. Thanks!

hey there!!! i been quiet reading all the venting drama's ,frustration ,and waiting stuff on this journey its been helpful in my case since then i got all my information here but lately i checked and noticed that most of the thread here is just a ####### it is like gossiping !!! is it???? it seems that some other people need help a lot because this might be the forum is for and seems mostly want to reply to gossips stuff rather than to reply to some people inneed ....try to check guys you will find out the number of people replied to some important stuff than to a gossip stuff !! is it true filipina like gossip very much???

Really??? how come i didn't read any of those? hhhmmmm, why bother anyways. Unless u too like gossips that makes me think u are a closet queen perhaps. whistling.gif

Hey gurl, at last u're there! did u kiss the American soil when u first landed there? rofl.gif old filipino's tradition said: if it is ur first time in one place u shld kneel down, make a wish and kiss the soil for goodluck laughing.gif

LOL!

See you soon!
