PhilippinesThe bar girl...
Some women look at guys and see money. Some men look at girls and see them only as sex objects

Bar girl or not... Whether it's in the Philippines or Thailand or Russia or USA... These relationships happen A LOT and almost everywhere!

It's pretty naive of a man (or woman, for that matter) to think this kind of "user-friendly" relationship only happens between a bar girl and a willing foreigner.

PhilippinesPlease enlighten me!
Are you in the Philippines? Try looking up their website, they have pretty good info there. Also, call them if you get confused. Also, bring all sorts of info on your partner or ask him na. Like his high school, his parents name, where he was born, etc.

A 2 year old kid? No, i believe you can't bring kids to the seminar because the talk is purely for adults. (Pretty benign if you ask me)

PhilippinesIS it possible?
Your parents attending your wedding is not a 100% guarantee that they will be granted a tourist visa.

They will have to prove strong ties to the Philippines in order to get a tourist visa.

PhilippinesMedical Exam
She doesn't need to set-up an appointment at SLEC. The medical exam is done on a first-come, first-served basis. She may register on-line though.

Refer here: http://www.slec.ph/u...pplicants.shtml

Due to the limited number of seats at SLEC, they don't allow companions unless the applicant is a minor, handicapped or a senior citizen.

The only CFO I know within Metro Manila is the one in Quirino Avenue. That's where my hubby did his PDOS in 2011.

Philippinesmarriage in Philippines
Just be careful how your fiancee refers to it though, especially if asked during the interview. If she referred to it as a "wedding" instead of "engagement party", that might raise suspicion from the consul. Also, mind the pictures that you will submit. Having a "pastor" in the photos may send a wrong signal.

Regarding the teeth, no, you don't have to get a tooth extraction before medical or interview BUT it's cheaper to undergo tooth extraction et al here in the Philippines. So you might want to consider seeing your dentist too before leaving for the US.

PhilippinesUpdating Status at the Philippine Embassy and Passport Renewal Inquiry
If your marriage took place here in the Philippines, all you need is an NSO copy of your marriage certificate to present at DFA so your wife can use her married name on her passport (and other ID cards).

When did you get married? You could have applied for Advance Endorsement of your MC so you can get an NSO copy within 3 weeks to 2 months (I got mine in 2 months) instead of the normal processing time of 6 months.

The Philippine Embassy/Consulate gets involved only IF the marriage took place ABROAD (outside the Philippines). A Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad should be filed at the nearest Philippine Consulate who has jurisdiction of the area.

You can use your married name in your CR1 petition.

All you have to do is renew your passport to your married name. All your ID cards should also be in your married name, as well as your NBI clearance.

You already filed i-130 though. Did you use your maiden name in the forms?

PhilippinesNBI and Police Clearance

Hi. Im schedule for interview nxt month. I am getting my nb clearancei but I got hit they told me to be back after 12 working days. Im afraid I cant bring it to the interview. What will I do? I hope I can hear some reply. Tnx

Try to go back on the 8th or 9th working day and see if they already have your clearance. I also had a "hit" but I was able to get my clearance on the 9th working day.

If its not possible, you can go ahead with your interview but you might get a 221g form for the NBI clearance. You will have to mail-in the NBI clearance (via 2GO), subject for consul's review then after that they will issue your visa. Expect a few days of delay.
apple21FemalePhilippines2013-02-20 21:07:00
PhilippinesNBI and Police Clearance
You will only need a Police Clearance if you have lived or worked in a foreign country for 12 months or more.

If you have never been outside the Philippines, there's no need to obtain a Police Clearance. The NBI Clearance will be enough.

NBI Clearance comes in 2 copies. You can give one to NVC and keep the "personal copy" to bring for the interview. It is valid for one year.

PhilippinesNBI and Police Clearance

NO WORRIES. when you apply for nbi clearance all names will appear

for example
name: angelina jolie jones
husband name: john smith

(cant think of any other names)

your name in the clearance will appear as: JONES de SMITH, ANGELINA y JOLIE

all your names will appear. I had mine last week.

You will only need AKA if you have errors/corrections in your name (as shown in your NSO BC) or you have been married/widowed and you used the surname of your previous husband.

PhilippinesTime duration from medical to interview to leaving

I am wanting to be present for the medical and the interview.
Is that ok?

FYI, no sexual contact before medical exam until she gets her vaccines. Some people encounter issues in the medical when their fiancees/spouses come home to be with them during this stage as some vaccines are not given if there's "doubt" on whether the woman is pregnant or not. Just precautionary advice.

As far as the medical at SLEC is concerned, most likely you will not be allowed to accompany her due to the limited space. SLEC only allows companions for small children and elderly applicants.

I would recommend you come over just before the interview date (after she passed her medical exam). Start the 2 weeks of waiting there, the visa will be delivered more or less within 7-10 working days and afterwards she still has to attend PDOS.

PhilippinesSt Luke's and Vaccinations

She says they referred her but didn't give her a name or form, just told her she needed to find her own Cardiologist. On that note, anyone know any Cardiologists in Caloocan City near Monumento or the surrounding area? I've found some in Quezon City at St Luke's but having difficulty finding some more local to her.

She can just inquire at the nearest hospital in her area. Cardiologists are not to find.

Basic consultation fee may start at 500 pesos (more or less).

She needs to see a cardiologist. She'll probably be prescribed to take medicine that could help lower her BP. Just make sure she brings the prescription when she goes back to SLEC.

PhilippinesUpdate on Wife's Travel to USA through China
Thanks for sharing.

1) Checked in at Philippine Airline 3am (she was anxious lol) for her 6:30am flight. Paid only 550p exit fee which surprised me.

- Travel tax must have been included in the air fare already.

*** When you send your fiancee your packet for interview, send a cellphone in the packet with your US number pre-loaded so she can contact you after POE. I sent plenty of cash for travel just in case. She also had instructions to call me via pay phone if she was delayed. I told her I could track her flights. She thought I knew she was not on the AA flight and on United (miscomunication on her thinking I was tracking her and not the flight). Spell everything out to your love....... I don't want anyone feeling what I felt waiting and not knowing...

- Is it possible to send a pre-loaded US sim card only? I have an unlocked smartphone already.

PhilippinesWhen can Mom-In-Law file

Daughter will turn 20 this July.
Daughter is still single.

I have looked everywhere but have not found any solid timeline that states MiL needs to wait till she gets here to file.

I want to get the paperwork moving as fast as possible because of the ticking clock for the daughter.

-Phil

If MIL files i-130 now, what evidence does she have to show her LPR status? Your wife waited until after her oath taking to file for her mom, right? Its basically the same thing. Daughter has to show proof she's a USC, mom has to show proof she's LPR.
apple21FemalePhilippines2013-03-05 21:42:00
PhilippinesWhen can Mom-In-Law file
Mom can only file i-130 AFTER she receives her green card.

How old is the daughter? Is she single or married?

F2A category (Unmarried Child below 21 of a Lawful Permanent Resident) has a waiting time of 2-3 years.

F2B category (Unmarried Son/Daughter over 21 of a Lawful Permanent Resident) has a waiting time of 11 years.

Philippinesmarriage consent

http://www.quezoncity.gov.ph/images/stories/downloadables/forms/consenttomarriage.pdf

Does anyone understand how this consent form is done? Is there something similar to a notary that needs to witness this in Philippines? Maybe with a k1 visa it is not necessary? My fiance is asking what she needs to do with this and I don't really have an idea. She is 20.

Just tell your GF to go to the Local Civil Registrar's (LCR) office in their municipal hall (munisipyo) and tell whoever is in charge that she wants to file a Parental Consent form because she's getting married abroad (via fiancee visa) and it's a requirement for her Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar at CFO. Bring her parent/s with her. Her parent/s should have a valid ID and GF should bring her NSO birth certificate and latest CENOMAR.

The LCR already has a form for the Parental Consent. All they need to do is fill it up and have it notarized by a Notary Public. In the municipal hall there are lots of notary publics there, she won't have a hard time locating one. Notary would probably cost around 150-200 pesos.

Thank you for the info. My kids visas are approved but I have a question on the delivery of their visa. They did not pay anything to 2GO for courier services. Do you suppose to pay anything if the visa will be delivered to your residence?
Kindly share what you did on this.
Thanks again and God bless.

They don't need to pay 2GO for the delivery. Delivery fee is already included in the immigrant visa fee.

There's a new immigrant fee that you have to pay though. Instructions on how to send payment will be included in the visa packet. The fee costs $165 per applicant. You have to pay the fee BEFORE the kids depart for the US.

The kids (or their proxy) are required to get PDOS stickers stamped on their passports: http://www.cfo.gov.p...-visa&catid=139

PhilippinesNSO Document Verification?

You have been reading outdated threads. Currently, there is nothing that you yourself have to do in regards to document verification. You simply submit the required documents to the Embassy during your interview. If the Embassy is suspicious of one of your documents, they will order their own copy of that document directly from the NSO or the NBI.

PhilippinesNSO Document Verification?

Good day to you all,

My Question is in regards to some threads I've come across now that I'm focusing on the interview at the Manila Embassy.

I have read here and there that the USE in Manila will require documents to undergo a document verification at the NSO and that it's wise to have this done or paid for prior to going to the interview? Can someone with recent experience involving a case from the Philippines enlighten me on this?

Thank you,

Sahs
