PhilippinesWrong name on birth certificate

That's not a simple typo error that can be brushed off.  Make sure your fiancee fixes it before she leaves for the US.  She cannot claim "her" child on K2 if she's not listed as the mother on the BC.

PhilippinesMaria versus Ma.

I went to the Philippines in 2010 using my Philippine passport with my name spelled Ma. Lourdes LASTNAME.  My green card has my name spelled Maria L. LASTNAME.  I didn't have any problems getting out of the US nor coming back.  I will be travelling there again in September and my travel agent is advising me to have my passport or green card reissued so that my name is exactly the same.  Question is do I really need to and if so, which spelling should I keep?  The green card spelling or the passport spelling?

Thank you!!!

If your passport was issued as MA., I assume the name on your NSO birth certificate is also MA. Correct?

The GC is showing MARIA.  Have the GC corrected.

PhilippinesIR-5 both parents get interview individually or together?

Its best for mom to go ahead with her interview.  Dad has to be cleared first before USEM will issue an interview date for him.  They can leave together, provided its before the visa expiry date stamped on their visas.

PhilippinesVisa fee?

So this means i dont have anything to pay anymore?

Yes, you don't pay the $165.

What you will pay next is the PDOS, terminal fee and travel tax (if not included in your air fare).

PhilippinesVisa fee?

PhilippinesSt Lukes/ Embassy Interview question

I'm in almost similar situation: fiancee has 2 girls (4yrs and 1 yr old).  So her mother will be allowed at St Lukes to help with the kids.  Will she be allowed inside the US Embassy also to help with the kids? Thanks.

Her mom will be allowed entry to USEM.  Just tell mom to bring a valid ID just in case USEM asks.

When my hubby and our 3 kids (aged 4, 5 and 6) went to their interview last Sept 2011, I was allowed to accompany them inside USEM.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar for Parents

Are they 60 years old and above?

If yes, they are exempted from attending PDOS.  They only need to register and get the CFO sticker.

PhilippinesRenew Passport in DC instead of area embassy

Thank you for the information. I will try to contact the Philippine consulate tomorrow as they have closed today. I was still wondereing if anyone on VJ had already gone through the process of renewing the Philippine passport in DC while they live in a different consulate area?

We will need to get thier Philippine passport renewed as both my wife and son's passport will expire before we will have the chance to get their citizenship and get a USA passport. We need to be prepared to travel if an emergency arises. We would also like to keep thier passports as I want them to have dual Citizenship but that is Posted Image.

I was also surprised to see the requirement 5 as listed above that indicates they will not renew a passport if you are going through the imigration process?? Has anyone had this to keep them from renewing thier passport?

Did you file a Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad at the Philippine Consulate in your area? You need this so that your wife can use her married name on her Philippine passport.

PhilippinesApplied for SSN

Same thing happened to my husband.  He received his GC and SSN 30 days after POE.

When he was applying for a job, the employer did the usual background check and his name won't appear anywhere.

I told him maybe there's something wrong with the way his name was encoded or something at POE.

He went to the SS office and had his name corrected.  He made infopass with USCIS and voila.... his middle name was included with his first name! jest.gif

He was issued a new GC for free.  He got hired soon after. biggrin.png

Philippinescemar

CEMAR is the CENOMAR for married people.  You saw the word CENOMAR mentioned as one of the requirements, right?  That's what you're looking for.

Tell your wife to go to the nearest NSO office and fill out an application for CENOMAR.  She still has time.  Do it on Monday.

PhilippinesDid not pass CFO seminar

I paid an attorney to help with the filing for our marriage license. We did the marriage classes and had all the legal requirements. We were married in Dasmarinas. When we received the marriage certificate it listed San Juan as the issuing municipality not Dasmarinas. The marriage is registered with the NSO. When my wife went to the CFO seminar they did not issue her certificate of attendance I think because of this. They also had many questions about why we got married 8 months after we met. My wife is shy and was very upset and left without asking why they did not issue to her the certificate of attendence. What do we do now?

Go back to the attorney and ask why the discrepancy.

It's SOP for CFO to be "nosy" about your marriage. Tell wifey she must answer, there's really nothing to be scared of. Don't let them intimidate. Good luck. :innocent:

PhilippinesMedical exam

On your timeline it says you plan to do the medical July 11 which is a Thursday.  Since you have a small child, SLEC will do a tuberculin skin test on her.  The reading of that skin test will be done after 2 days, which will fall on a Saturday.  SLEC is closed on weekends so they won't be able to get the skin test result and it will just expire.

Since Tuberculin Skin Testing requires an observation period of 48-72 hours, applicants 2-14 years old are advised not to come for their medical examination on a Thursday. The clinic is closed on weekends, so the TST cannot be interpreted before it expires.

PhilippinesK2 - child of fiancee, how much is the int.fee/what to bring?

Since the minor child will travel to the US accompanied by another person that is not his parent, you need to acquire a DSWD travel clearance.  This is also a requirement at CFO.

PhilippinesHelp Needed kabayan!

salamat kabayan, ang meron namin ay Certificate of Marriage, so kailangan pa nyang pumunta sa NSO at kukuha ng CENOMAR at akala ko kasi ang CENOMAR ay para sa mga single lamang tulad ko noong pumunta ako dito, F2B kasi ako noon kaya hinanapan ako ng CENOMAR, so he needs to get this CENOMAR kahit married na ? pasensya na tlg sa inyo mga kabayan, nalilito kasi ako,,, salamat sa tulong!

Yes, tell him to go to NSO and fill out an application for CENOMAR.  Since he is already married, he will be issued the CEMAR (Advisory on Marriages).

For the interview, bring the original NSO Marriage Certificate and the CEMAR.

PhilippinesKi Visa Interview Manila - Bring Kids to the Interview?

You were right!!!  They let her sister accompany them on the interview.  And all went well - visa approved!!!!!!!!!  The only reason they wanted the kids there was to verify that they match the pics on the passports and photos attached to the forms.  Thanks for the good advice.

Congrats! All is well. dancin5hr.gif

PhilippinesKi Visa Interview Manila - Bring Kids to the Interview?

Are you not the petitioner USC?   They are allowed to be with the beneficiary at USEM.

No.  As I've said, I only accompanied my husband (boyfriend then) and our 3 kids to their F2B interview at USEM.

PhilippinesKi Visa Interview Manila - Bring Kids to the Interview?

My fiancee called the embassy and she was told that she has to bring the kids to the interview.  They also told her that she is not allowed to have a companion accompany her on the interview to help take care of the kids.  Nevertheless, she is going to bring her sister on the day of the interview and see if she can persuade the embassy staff to allow her sister to accompany her.  I will let you know how it turns out.  Interview is scheduled for July 11.

I hope the results of the medical exam arrive in time so she doesn't have to reschedule the interview.  She completed Day 1 of the medical exam Wednesday, July 3.  She will complete Day 2 of the medical exam (immunizations) on Friday, July 5.  They are having her wait an extra day so they can get the results of her daughter's TST (tuberculin skin test) on Friday.  Nothing like cutting it close - haha.

Things are moving really fast now.  We just received MNL case number June 25.  Medical exam to be completed July 5.  CFO class to be completed July 9 or 10, and interview to be completed on July 11.  We are making up for time lost in file transfer from CSC to NVC -- it took 42 days to get MNL case number from NOA2 notice date - a process which takes on average only 20 days.

Don't worry, they will let the sister in.  All the best. good.gif

PhilippinesKi Visa Interview Manila - Bring Kids to the Interview?

Thanks for the information apple21.  Do you happen to know if a companion other than the husband or fiance is allowed to accompany at the embassy to help take care of the kids?

Yes, companions are allowed even if they are not the father/mother of the applicants AS LONG AS the applicants are small children, disabled or senior citizens.

In my previous post I mentioned I was allowed entry, technically I was the companion.

PhilippinesKi Visa Interview Manila - Bring Kids to the Interview?

Companions are allowed if the applicants are very young children.

I was allowed entry to USEM when my husband and our 3 kids (aged 4, 5 and 6) went for their interview last Sept 2011.

Are the kids applicants for K2?  If yes, they are required to attend the interview.

Philippinesco sponsor Philippines

I heard Manila does not accept co sponsors for K 1 visas, is that true anyone experience this?

Basically.  I've read a few K1 filers here who were able to pass with a joint sponsor.

I remember the scenario being that the petitioner is a new college/university graduate and is still looking for a job, the parent was the joint sponsor and was approved.

Case to case basis, I suppose.
