United KingdomK1 Visa Application For Work Authorisation

i think you may just (i say just, but it crazy expensive) have to pay out of state tuition fees depending on the school. if going to a "fast track" school i dont believe they charge more for out of towners. good luck.

okay thanks

EAD is to work, you do not need anything for School except money.

EAD is to work, you do not need anything for School except money.

Right but your legal status in the country may not permit you to further your education otherwise. I could be wrong thats why I am asking....

United KingdomK1 Visa Application For Work Authorisation

As a K1, if you apply for EAD separately just after entry, you pay the $380 fee. It will take 60-90 days to approve. It will be valid until the date your I-94 expires (90 days after entry).

If you apply for EAD along with AOS, the $380 fee is waived, so no cost to apply. It will take 60-90 days to approve. It will be valid for one year.

Tagging along with this question, does the EAD enable him go to school? he's thinking of a career in the health care field and would like to start school as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Our best bet is to remain positive and make sure we get all the documents needed as we await the NoA2....so once that comes we can try to get the earliest appointment dates before the Olympics Slowdown... :(

Yay! Today is turning out to be a great day!

Wow! I almost cant believe this....but I guess with this process, they tend to make up the rules as they go along. Well, thats another 6 months of chat logs, boarding passes and other emails that will be sent when he goes for the interview. They want evidence of ongoing relationship.......THEY GOT IT! :secret:

They threw out the paying helpline, email code, etc. They want you to contact them using this online form http://london.usemba...ntact_form.html

It's next to impossible to speak to a human on the phone.

.......and now I need to express my frustration/anger in 1000 characters or less. What is this? Twitter?

I guess it was a luxury that will be missed lol!

Interview is in a few hours. Just read left coast lady's review and was suprised they asked for the DS forms? Luckily my OCD was in full drive when we filled those forms and we have copies so he'll take some with him. But now I have to ask the dreaded "am I forgetting anything" question. we have the following

- 3 Passport Photos
- Passport
- Police certificate and copy
- Birth certificate and copy
- MRV receipt
- Interview Letter
- Pictures from the last few months (Post NoA1 and NoA2)
- A few emails from the last few months
- NoA1 and NoA2 letters
-I 134 from Sponsor, with Letter from employer and pay stubs
- 1 134 from me, with letter of employer stating my temp assisgnment
- Phone records from Lyca Mobile
- Boarding Passes from last
-Debit card

...I cant possibly be missing anything can I? :bonk:

ok! so what i found out today.

It is taking 6 weeks from when they receive the Packet 3 to log it.
when they log it they also assign you an interview date.
that interview date tends to be 3 weeks more.

so total 9 weeks from when they received your packet 3 or whatever limiting factor you had. 9 weeks until your british half walks in to the interview.
then it is another 5 business days to put it in your passport, and if you pay for overnighting then 24 hrs. to get the passport back.

sadly, that puts us, with everything exactally how they said, at nov. 8th.. for a nov. 11th wedding.

wow! :crying: :crying:

For self employed, yes tax returns, but that is a different situation with no employer and many business expenses that can be deducted from the gross income/sales. They need to see the income after all the business write-offs have been taken.

So I'm not sure, are you saying yes or no that the sponsor will provide a tax return?

I answered based on reading London experiences for 4 years. They've tweaked many procedures over that time, but they still will accept anything that clearly proves the sponsor can support the immigrant to their satisfaction. I dont even work, so my income tax return was my best proof to show my taxable income was well above. I didn't have an employer letter or pay slips. I didnt get a letter from the bank. Just show them the money the clearest believeable way possible and they will accept it in London. There is not even a fixed number written into law, like with the stricter I-864. It is a subjective decision by the officer doing the interview. In general , 100% of the poverty level will be accepted. http://travel.state....pes_2994.html#8

I think you will find if the sponsor shows good income, they won't even discuss it at the interview.

Thanks Nich- Nick. She's agreed to send her tax return (complete :-)) and 2 pay stubs. All in all, that should be enough.

Thanks Nich-Nick. I thought so too. But being that the website specifically says copies of Tax return are needed if self employed, I got a little worried. It also says nothing about pay stubs too, so I'm still unsure.

For what its worth, I'll keep reading reviews from others to see what they submitted. I need to make a decision soon tho...

United KingdomLondon 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread
Hi guys, another day, another Tax question.

Here it goes! The person who was supposed to be a co-sponsor for us kinda bailed on us, so we are looking for another one because I'm a recent law school grad and I dont make above the poverty line......yet. We have found someone else, but she kind of being abrasive about the employment letter. It seems as though she is willing to provide her W2 and pay stubs but the letter from her employer, Tax transcripts and Letter from bank are what she doesn't seem to have the time (or energy ) to provide. So the question is, will the I-134 be okay with just 2 pay stubs and a tax return? I am particular about the letter from her employer because I have seen in recent interviews, people were asked specifically for the letter from the employer. Or am I just being overtly analytical?

Also, I'm filing out an I134 form with my tax transcripts, and he ( beneficiary) is filling out one with his pay stubs, bank statements and letter from his employer. So cumulatively, will this be okay?

Thanks

WOAH, just called DOS and got through in about 5 seconds! To a really really nice man who said everything had been received safely at the consulate, including medical, although no interview date yet. Now is obviously a good time to call, if you need to! Also, just goes to show they must put a lot of weight on the wedding date/expedite reasons you give them in your cover letter.

At least I know they have everything safely, and like I said, now is a good time to call if you need to do!

Thats refreshing Katie, I will be sure to reach out to you for some pointers when its our turn.

...as i keep waiting :clock:

Saw this on another topic and was wondering the truth (if any) to it....

Is it MANDATORY for the petitioner to be at the beneficiary's interview? I can imagine its nice but we do not have that option and so far AND I haven't read anything about that.

What gives?

Guys, be nice. She's a newbie.

Gaby, I understand your frustration. We all do. But its best to brace yourself for the long wait, think positive and fly to go see him as often as possible. I was just like you initially. After I turned in the application, I was expecting approval in 2 weeks. Then It hit me. THis thing takes MONTHS. I mailed my application at the end of January and I am shooting for August for my honey to be here. Of course I would want it to be sooner. Who doesnt?

Try to familiarize yourself with this process, read peoples stories and timelines as often as you can, make sure you have all your documents ready, brew a cup tea and CHILL.

ELSE YOU'LL GO CRAZY.

check out the UK forum, ask Nich-Nick any questions, we are a pretty close group and we are all in this together.

 Thank God. I woke up in the middle of the night and once again checked the USCIS website for my case status like I do numerous times through out the day. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to get the "Post Decision Activity" notifying me that my I-129F Petition was approved. :D  Happy Happy Joy Joy :D  Just an additional for those who may have submitted petitions with an IMBRA Waiver for Limitations, you can get approved if you thoroughly document and provide supporting documents for the request and a good explanation for the waiver to be approved. Things will start moving quicker now. Good luck everyone waiting, your day will come. It may seem forever, but never give up hope. Yeaaaaaah!!!!!
