United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

My fiance had his medical today in London. I've gone through several posts on this site and looked up information on the US Embassy in London's site, and the pdf medical information they provide and everywhere it says the cost for an adult medical is £190. When he went to pay they told him it was £230. He asked why and was told the blood work they do is not included in the £190 and cost an additional £40. I saw someone on here post just last week about their experience with the medical and they only paid £190 as well. Has anyone else been charged more than £190? He didn't have anything out of the norm done, just the required medical.

Dont know why they charged you that, i had mine on the 18th May and they charged me £190. I had the routine blood test done. Seems pretty strange if they didn't do anything different than normal.

It has to happen before his interview, or they'll cancel the interview but they only ask for it to be a week before not insist that it is. Since every interviewsw that we've seen recently happens first thing in the AM, I'd arrange for his medical to happen the day before his interview, as they do offer afternoon appointments. Alterantively, price up a same day "first flight in, last flight out" type travel, with his appointment around lunch time and see if it's workable that way.

Just remember if there's not 4 working days between his medical and his interview, the best they can give him is "approved pending medical" after his interview and it could delay his getting his visa somewhat, so definately don't book his flight until visa is in hand.

Waza - our medical is tomorrow too! See you there maybe? lol..

Sundrop......Our paths are destined not to cross...Lol. Hope it went well for you
Good Luck in everything you do

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

Hi all,

Had my medical yesterday, thought i'd share.

My sister lives in Harrow, a 30-minute tube ride from Bond St, so I stayed at hers the night before my 9:50am appointment. My medical was at 4 Bentinck Mansions, and I arrived at 9:40 where the young lady at the window took my passport, photo, vaccination record and questionnaire. Gave me another form to complete & hand back.

I was then sent to the waiting room, where after maybe 15 minutes a young lady named Lucy called my name and gave me a big smile, shook my hand, asked how I was doing & took me off to a room down the hall. She advised that my vaccinations were checked against the American schedule, exlpained that depending on the visa type I only need certain jabs, and that the only thing I needed was a Tetanus booster as I hadn't had one in the last 10 years. She gave me the option of getting it done there for £25 or on the NHS for free - I chose the latter, am in to see my GP next week for the shot.

Back to the waiting room to wait for the Radiographer, and another 10 minutes passed before a jolly chap called my name & took me off to yet another room for the X-ray. Took off my shirt, up against the plate, chin on the rest, arms behind my back with a special x-ray blanket thing to hold behind my back (prevents getting a picture below what they need to see).

Back to the waiting room, and this time I must have been waiting a good 30 minutes - i'd already read my paper, plus a copy of 'ok magazine' and was halfway through a car magazine when my name was called again, this time by a quietly spoken blonde doctor who apologised for the wait and really was very nice. She asked me a few questions regarding answers i'd put on the form (had tonsils removed as a kid, have mild asthma etc) then went for the exam. Weight, height, basic vision test. Asked me to remove my top & sit on the bed where she checked my underarms, took my blood pressure, listened to my chest & back, then asked me to lie down where she poked & prodded my stomach. Then the fun part, she asked my to pull my trousers down and then cough as she felt for anything untoward around my crown jewels. The then asked me if it was ok to see my bits, a quick flash and that was that, got dressed & she took a blood sample & all done, very good, said she was happy & they'd call me if the bloodwork showed anything abnormal.

Went back out to the waiting room, 60 seconds later was called out to reception & paid the £190 and off I went with a copy of the report and my passport/vaccinations back etc. In total I was in there about 90 minutes, so a little longer than I expected but really not too bad at all. Just take something to read in case there is a wait, that's all I would suggest really.

Just gotta get my shot next week & then my results will goto the embassy. Then it's just the interview - whenever that might be!

Aaah !!! The interview..... I wonder what little surprises that will bring to us all....Lol

I am at the stage of arranging my medical for the k1 Visa before my interview at the embassy. Will it be ok to fly and see my fiancee in the next couple of weeks in the States or will it be a problem due to the fact i am in middle of my application.

Just to clarify, for K visas the DS-157 is still in use. This is for K visas only. DS-160 is for other non-immigration visas.

No, Bangkok still says DS-156. But the DOS web-site says the new form is preferred.

So if you are filing in London, is it the The " New" DS-160

Just checking my forms before i send my packet 3. Found a notice on the US Embassy London website. that the old DS-156 Electronic form is now obsolete and you now need to send the DS-160 instead, the old form wont be accepted. Has anybody else seen this.

Hi all,
I sent my packet 3 off on May 4th, had my medical on May 18th, but still have had no reply from the Embassy for my interview date. So it's nearly six weeks now, getting a bit worried now, is this pretty normal, checked on others who sent packet 3 about the same time and had the medical around the same dates and they have there interview dates. Is this something to worry about and had i better give the Embassy a call. My packet 3 was signed for on May 6th.
Cheers Guys

Don't think that the UK consulate ever asks for original copies of the US citizen's stuff. They are only interested in the UK citizen and to ensure that the relationship is real. They are pretty easy on the questions. UK isn't considered to be a high fraud risk country I guess.

Hope that your interview goes well and I suggest that you also read the guides and the UK wiki as they have the answers to questions such as you had about the timeframe for marriage once you enter the US.

Cheers mate Hope everything goes well for you in the future..

My police certificate came back with " No Live Trace " my two minor convictions were criminal damage ( breaking a window) and making off without payment from a restaurant, 20 years ago. Do i need to get the court proceeding's papers for them as when i spoke to an immigration police officer from ACPO he said i didn't. Also i spoke to my local court were the offences were charged and their records dont go back that, but they said they get a copy of them.
My question being- Do i need to send the court papers of the offences...- And would a copy be ok if i did.

Thanks

Hi everyone. We sent our packet 3 in and we have not heard anything about an interview date yet. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to how long London is taking and or are they busy with other visa types lately.

Hi,
