National Visa Center (Dept of State)Questions...
QUOTE (lgg @ Jun 25 2009, 02:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Okay, just got our I-130 approved today...

Am wondering, while we wait for our NVC number to be generated.

How will we know once it has? Will they call/mail/let us know? Should we call?

Call and use the AVR. Enter your USCIS case number. When NVC has entered your case into the system it will change from "We have no record of this case..." to "NVC has assigned a case number..."

Can both the petitioner and the beneficiary call? The USCIS only allowed the petitioner to call.
Both can call.

Once it's been generated, what will be first?
The DS-3032 will be first, then the AOS fee bill. Should be the same day.

The NVC 'generates'' the DS 3032, CHoice of agent form, does it get mailed to me? Only the beneficiary?
And the AOS does it get sent to the Petitioner?
If you give them both of your email addresses you will both receive everything.

DO these things happen in tandem or one after the other as a consequence of...
http://www.visajourn...wchart_v1-2.pdf

I pretty much have a bead on most things but some of the terminology throws me -- it's always the simple things.

Thank you all,
I'll get it all soon.

Asia: East and PacificCompany to help my fiancee fill out paperwork
QUOTE (JonasMichaels @ Sep 5 2008, 11:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Has anyone here ever hired a *good* company in VN to help your fiancee fill out the paperwork? Phuong doesn't read English very fluently and is worried she will make mistake. But she also doesn't know which company she can trust, she says many Vietnamese are very jealous and she worries they won't do the paperwork right. We are both frustrated now. Can anyone guide us a little? We both seem to be big bozos when it comes to this paperwork. Thanks
Jonas

Fish sauce is freaking awesome. It goes great with broken rice, vermicelli and grilled pork, and vietnamese eggrolls... mmm nom nom nom. I went to hanoi this past summer. Just my opinion, I don't really care for their cooking, They like to cook with a lot of MSG, and that stuff makes my tongue numb. To much just makes me sick. Northern food just kind of taste weird to me now a days(and my family is originally 54 bac ky (north folks)). I also got sick from eating at quan an ngon up there, I have no desire to ever return to Hanoi what so ever.

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F at the NVC

"Sides, if they put the K3 in AP, they'll do the CR1 as well, may as well focus on one and see it through, no?
Good luck and yes, the little bits of waiting here and there are pure hell...

At the NVC stage that's not the case. When they pull K-1s and K-3s for AP it's usually random. There isn't really anything like AP for CR-1s with NVC, so it might be a good idea to follow up with that, at least send in the DS-3032 since it doesn't cost anything and it'll take a few days for them to accept it. Hopefully by time they've done that the AP will be over.

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS-156K
FILL IT OUT!!

Sorry for the caps, but it's important that you do fill it out. I started out trying for the K-3, sent in all the forms except the DS-156k since it says very clearly that it is only for fiancee visas. They sent us back a letter saying "Hey, you didn't include this. It's ok, just bring it to the interview with you. We'll let you know when." Called DOS to confirm (and also to tell them that it's crazy that we actually need to do it, but can't argue with the gov, you know). Weeks and weeks went by and London still hadn't qualified us for an interview (ticked the little box in the computer that says we're eligible to be scheduled). In the end we were done with NVC pretty quickly and had a CR-1 appointment for soon after so it worked out for the best really, glad we didn't go for the K-3. But if you do want the K-3 you have to send it in or they'll just hold you in limbo forever and ever. Or at least a longish time without any explanation.

Your son should keep in mind that once he reaches the age of 21, he enters the F2 visa category. Because that is a category with a limited number of visas it would take a very very long time to get here. The priority date wouldn't be current until 8 years from the time of filing.

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAttorney Frustrations...
I can tell you about London specifically. The K-3 will take you 1-2 months LONGER.

London is painfully slow to schedule appointments, they lose packets, ignore e-mails etc.

With the CR-1 all of your papers go to NVC and NVC schedules your appointment. I did all the paperwork for both and my CR-1 beat the K-3 by over a month.

IMBRA Special TopicsNot sure if mine will be Adam Walsh or not
tomaran, what the OP is referring to is the adam walsh act which bans u.s. citizens from petitioning for relatives if they have committed certain crimes. you can read more about it here: http://www.uscis.gov...shAct072806.pdf

in this case, it is the petitioner's criminal history that is important, as it may require a waiver to continue with the process.

sorry i don't know more about it to help you kylejb. good luck.
