QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 10 2009, 07:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The queue is behind a fence that's manned by security guards and a police officer (at least it was in January 2008). They will look at your letter and based on what time your appointment is they will direct you to another queue. They won't even let you beyond the fence if you get there too early.

At least it was like this 18 months ago, someone can correct me if things have changed recently.

most of the recent reviews seem to say everyone got there round about 7:30 regardless of interview time. i'm sure someone else will chime in but i wouldn't worry about getting there too early.

United KingdomCheap Shipping From UK to USA
Just a little positive review for Parcel Monkey I thought I'd share. We decided to send all of his belongings through them. It was 34 boxes and weighed over 1000kg but since the price was comparable to what we were getting from removals companies that would've taken a few months, we just went for it.
Their customer service is totally useless- they don't really know much about the paperwork and regulations and all that, but you can just call DHL and ask them whatever you need to know- they're brilliant. So after a little mix up where they misplaced the customs form (set us back a couple of days) we got everything today, less than a week from the West Midlands to NYC door to door. And DHL called me every day after the little mishap just to keep me updated. Was fantastic.

United KingdomNew Contractor, co-sponsor needed??
A letter that specifically says it's a 6 month contract won't help you much though. You're proving that you can support the immigrant until they become a citizen, which won't happen in 6 months. A co-sponsor is an important thing to consider because you need to demonstrate long term stability.

Hi All -

So, Mark goes to London for his medical and interview on Thursday the 10th and Friday the 11th. He's concerned about where to stow his bag while he's at the embassy. Anyone have any suggestions?

It's right up the road. See where it says USA just below the orange circle? That's the embassy. I think my husband payed 5 pounds to leave his cell phone and ipod.

Call DOS and ask them if packet 3 has been generated yet. The embassy will sometimes print everything up and then it'll sit in a pile until they feel like mailing it. As long as it's been generated you can send in the forms.

Where did you find that? It sounds like what you've found is about the IR/CR-1 visa- we pay $400 to NVC for the immigrant visa.

The $455 you payed at the beginning of the process is just the fee for USCIS to process your petition.
You'll have to pay $131 at the interview for your K-1 visa, plus the courier fee which is around 14 pounds.

Just in case anyone has this question in the future, I thought I'd share.

My husband will likely be out of town when the visa is delivered so I emailed the SMS courier folks about it.

They say that someone else can accept the delivery, as long as they can present an i.d. belonging to the passport holder. When asked what would be an acceptable form of identification they replied, "I can confirm that we can accept as ID either a full UK valid driving licence, Passport or a valid credit / debit card. Alternatively we can also arrange a delivery for after your husband has returned."

Hi everyone. I'm getting all of my paperwork in order today and I thought that I needed to send in originals + a copy of each certificate. I noticed that on the LingChe shortcuts it doesn't mention making a photocopy for anything other than my own records. Did I totally make up that requirement?

if they said it's approved, it probably was. hooray! my case never updated online and even the VSC operators couldn't see it had been approved- i didn't know til i got the NOA2s.
try calling NVC (603)334-0700 follow the prompts to enter your USCIS case number. unfortunately the I-129fs do not get entered into the automated system- you'll have to speak to an operator to find that out. but odds are your I-130 was approved at the same time and that should be in the system so try using that case number instead. you'll hear a message saying "your case was entered into the NVC computer on..." and that's the date it got to NVC.
if it says they have no record of your case then it's not there yet sad.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 question
Yes they probably don't need it, but there's a chance they will get to the paper copy first, do you know what I mean? If they get a ton of emails then it's possible and I've seen it before quite a few times. It can't hurt and it only costs 44 cents.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 question
that's normal, and in fact a good sign. means their servers didn't reject it. now you've got to wait for someone to read it!

send a hard copy in the mail too, just in case. sometimes they get to that one quicker.
imaishaFemaleUnited Kingdom2009-05-27 13:16:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC Agent designation DS-3032
you could theoretically mail the two together. it's important to get the ds-3032 to them as quickly as possible though since they need that in order to create the IV fee bill so if you're going to overnight the AOS package then go ahead.

also, as soon as you have an NVC case number you should call them and speak to an operator. give them both of your email addresses and then you can follow these instructions to email the ds-3032 to them: http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

sometimes they process that one before paper copies. i actually started sent the email a day or two before i expected them to generate the ds-3032 in hopes that by time someone got around to reading it they would be able to accept it.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

I've been practically spamming them (politely, once a day) emailing them the DS-3032 in the hopes that by time someone actually reads the email it will have been generated. Guess I'll just continue with that.

And I call them faithfully every day and the operator says it will take 4-6 weeks, every case is different, no i can't see your case it's in a file room, no you cannot speak to a supervisor. So no luck there.

Just seems silly that I've followed all the shortcuts- our AOS and IV packages are in the addressed express mail envelopes just begging to be mailed!

Oh well. Thanks again. And good luck with your case complete muslimlady- wow your I-130 moved quickly!

I know I know, I shouldn't whine and I've just got to wait. Still curious though. I was so glad to be done with USCIS but it's been 10 days now since a case number was assigned at NVC and still nothing. I fear this is a bad sign for the rest of our processing at NVC. I've checked out a lot of other people's signatures and it seems like everyone else has gotten it after around 5 or 6 days.

Has it taken anyone 10 days or longer for the DS-3032 to be generated?

I've checked the case numbers for the days around mine and all but one say that the DS-3032 has been generated or for some even received already! So disheartening...

QUOTE (brocku00 @ Jun 9 2009, 09:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thank you everyone for your replies.....I am starting to understand. Am I too understand that since I have been married for so many years that I may not have conditions on my GC or something like that? I did hear something about the length of marriage in relevance to how long I would have to wait to apply for citizenship, which for me would be three years. So, fingers crossed everyone, I'm hoping to hear some good news today about my interview time!!! unsure.gif
Thanks again for your replies.

If you have been married for two years or longer at the time the visa is issued then you will receive an IR-1 visa. Less than two years and you get a CR-1.

The length of the marriage has no bearing on citizenship eligibilty- it is the length of your time as a permanent resident. Once you have been a permanent resident for 3 years, so long as you have been married to and living with the U.S. spouse during that time, you will be eligible for citizenship. If you divorce but maintain your permanent residency then it will be 5 years.

If you filed an I-130 and only an I-130 then you're going for a CR/IR-1. Your timeline says you were married in 2001, so you'll be getting an IR-1 visa rather than a CR-1 (conditional resident).

Do you mean the Affidavit of Support or Adjustment of Status? Based on your previous posts, I think you mean Affidavit of Support. Please fill out your profile and timeline- when we have more information we're able to give YOU more information!

The above two posters were thinking of Adjustment of Status. The Affidavit of Support review usually takes 1-2 weeks, based on other people's timelines recently. If you call NVC and speak to an operator I think they will be able to tell you whether the review has been completed yet. I'm still waiting on mine.

Please don't use all caps in the forums.

Has your fiancee called NVC and spoken to an operator? You're at the end of your 5th week now, they should acknowledge that something is wrong by now. Ask to speak to an operator tell them you've been waiting almost 6 weeks now for the case number. They will probably tell you to write a letter and send it in with a copy of your NOA2 and hopefully that will get someone to go find it.

Being pregnant is not proof of a legitimate marriage- it is proof of being fertile. Please don't suggest to other members that it can be used as proof of relationship.

What do you mean k1 is non immigrant? It is for the fiance visa unless I am totally confused right now...which is entirely possible (long day at work. lol)

-Blu-(huh?)

The K visas are non-immigrant visas in that there is no residency granted from the K visa itself. Your immigration status is totally dependent on adjusting status once you are in the US. If you do not then you will be out of status once your I-94 expires. The fact that you have an I-94 indicates that you are still technically a visitor. With the CR/IR-1 visas you are a permanent resident as soon as you are through the POE and so that visa is an immigrant visa. USCIS and the DOS say in a few places that they consider K visas to be both immigrant and non-immigrant. That is simply because you are granted the visa under the assumption that you will seek legal status and become a permanent resident and thus become an immigrant.

No form and no payment, correct. You'll have to call them and speak to an operator. K-1s and K-3s are never put into the automatic recording system. Once they've sent it out you can track its journey with DHL or you can call the DOS to see if it has arrived yet.

5 days from NOA1 to NOA2? That's got to be some kind of record. They could've mailed your NOA1 and NOA2 in the same envelope!

Do you mean when you call NVC? It should be 6-6-5. The first option they give you will be "You have entered: MNL" so you can press 1.

i believe this is NOT correct
NVC used the USCIS case number so u can know the NVC case number ...for instanse ..if ur USCIS case number start with WAC so u follow the AVR and press 4 for WAC then 1 for confirming then entering the rest of numbers ...and when u r done Entering the USCIS case number correctly .the AVR tells u your whole NVC number which start with MNL

so what im saying , u dont use NVC case number to use the AVR ..u only may need with when u talk to an operator which for sure doesnt need u to enter it by phone as u r speaking o a live persn
Good Luck

You absolutely can use your NVC case number for the AVR. I do it every day.
The system tells you when you call, if you are using your CIS case number, press 1. If you know your NVC case number, press 2.

It feels like it has slowed down a bit. The days of setting records with 14, 12, 10 days are definitely gone.

I overnighted each thing as soon as they requested it and it still took me 37 days to get a case complete. They took quite some time with generating things, which was the real killer.

On the plus side though, they're really good about telling you exactly what they've received, when they entered it and whether or not it's currently being reviewed. Was a relief after getting zip from USCIS.
