PhilippinesAOS Interview - passed!
I passed my AOS interview earlier today. The interview was somewhat brief lasting a mere 10 minutes. The officer asked to see our ID's
passports, my husbands drivers license and bcs. He also asked for our 9 month old son's bc. His questions were brief and consisted of when was my date of arrival in the U.S. and if I had left the country since then. If this was our first marriage, if our son was our first child, if I had goals of working. We updated him that we have moved to a new address which he didn't question, we showed him our new lease. He asked for our 2008 tax return. He asked what my phone number was. He asked typical Homeland Security questions i.e. am I a terrorist, have I been arrested etc...
He then asked where my husband worked and he and my husband began discussing the global economic meltdown which he professed, he was still trying to understand. My husband was giving him some of his insights so they were back and forth on that. Finally he asked if we had any more questions where my husband asked if I could leave the U.S. w/ the green card which he replied yes. He asked again if we had any more questions and I asked, am I approved? which he replied yes:) He said our son was the one who made the approval easy. He was very friendly and smiling. At first he seemed stoic and firm but towards the middle of our interview which again was 10 minutes, he was very congenial. All in all a very satisfying and welcoming interview. good.gif

Philippines~Say Anything Thread~
My honey likes Michael Jordan, me as well.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was my first sports hero, his autobiography Giant Steps was a big influence. In football I grew up a Redskins fan so I admired John Riggins, Art Monk, Darrel Greene, Dexter Manley and the hogs.
Carl Lewis in track and field was always a delight to watch esp. in '84 and '88.

My friends at work are always raving about the Red Sox or their fav. teams but, as I get older I increasingly have become less fanatical about sports. My interest in sports is more translated in my interests in music...

Philippinesexit permit of my son
QUOTE (brianmarie @ Nov 7 2008, 03:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
anybody can give me information regarding exit permit of my son? Do I need to pay to get exit permit of my 1 year old son? He got his CRBA and american passport last january. My husband want to knwo if they will consider him as overstaying here in philippines. Any help?

Yup u need to go to the Bureau of Immigration, Intramuros Manila

I got my son's exit permit last september,

Fees:
Certificate - 720 pesos
express lane fee - 500 pesos

Requirements:
1 photocopy NSO BirthCertificate of the child
1 photocopy US Passport of the child
Bring the original for checking
4 2x2 ID pics
Bring your child for fingerprinting

If your son got his Citizenship last january, they will count how many months he got his citizenship and multiple it to a certain amount per month..
It's not that big..maybe less than a thousand per month, If you like you can email BI help desk: xinfo@immigration.gov.ph to inquire about it son's case.

HOpe it helps..goodluck ..

PS..you will get your son's exit permit the same day.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGot my GC ..Finally!!!!

Finally I got my GC, I waited for more than a month!

Here's a bit of history:

Got approved March 30 and received my welcome letter april 3.
started waiting for my gc...
called the hotline and complained that my gc hasn't arrived a month after I got my welcome letter.
Received an email from USCIS telling me that the post office returned the gc and they will send it back to the address they have on file.

What surprised me is that now I got my gc..it is the same address on the other letter they sent me.
So who's fault is it?
Well... I'm just relieved that finally I got my gc and will start doing some changes with my ssn, will apply for a state ID..etc.

Thanks VJ for the help..

...2 yrs and will do removal of conditions..

1. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE THAT APPOINTMENT? IS IT ONE DAY AT US EMBASSY?...........It depends but usually half a day. but be prepared to stay longer[/font]

2. FROM AIRPORT , HOW FAR THAT IS TO GO TO US EMBASSY?..........It depends too considering the traffic. Give yourself a good 30 minutes.

3. IS IT FINE THAT I AND MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 8 MONTHS OLD BABY TO GO TO US EMBASSY? DO I NEED TO BRING SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP ME?..........Who is the beneficiary? If it is you, then just go alone. But if it is you and your daughter you have to bring her too. You won't be able to bring anyone with you.

4. IS IT OK TO BRING SOME STUFF LIKE CELLPHONE, WALLET, BAG INSIDE?.........Bags and wallets are ok. But don't bring any electronic devices including cell phones.

Good luck! God Bless!

THANKS FOR THE INFO. GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE FROM BOHOL TOO. THIS APPOINTMENT IS THE INTERVIEW OF MY BABY'S CRBA AND PASSPORT. IM STILL WONDERING HOW LONG MAY IT TAKE FOR THAT APPOINTMENT. SO I CAN MAKE RESERVATION FOR THE PLANE NOW.

i did my son's crba 2 months ago..and it just took us 3 hours to finish..
so if your schedule is 9 am you'll be out by 11 or 12..
but you need to be there an hour before or even 30 minutes before ur appointment.
goodluck..
also, i have my aunt with me during that time, to hold my 3 month old baby while the consul is interviewing me.
the consul will just have to look at your baby for a second..and the rest is ur interview.

Hey Francis myself and my wife were in a somewhat similar situation last year, I dont want to bore you with the details but the thing i wanted to point out is regarding the CRBA and the birth certificate. My wife gave birth on January 15 and the NSO just finished processing and we got the certified birth certificate from them. It takes 40 working days before you are able to get that, you'll have a draft copy of course but it isnt acceptable as far as the US Embassy is concerned. The hospital will probably inform you of that 40 day timeframe when you are doing the paperwork for his birth certificate, but i just wanted to let you know so that you can figure that into the time ouf your K-1 process. If you have any questions regarding the CRBA process and interview we will be going through that process in the next few weeks so i could let you know how it went and what you might need and how long they took to schedule the interview with the child present so that you can get a better a idea of the time it might take.

good.gif right!

Well we're doing ok right now, constantly communicating and talking about on what we will have to do when the times come.

Prolly, I will have to give birth by june just before my interview, then get the requirements for baby's CRBA that will take 1 month.
Then, by July (if God's willing) I'll be having my interview for K1.
My honey Frank will be here in June to be with me and baby but he will have to go back after a month.
So I might be the only one to present baby at the USE for interview for his CRBA.

I really hope birth certificate from NSO won't take long.

Thank you guys!

Hello,
I'm just new here but we had started our K1 process.

We submitted this January 22, 2008 and received NOA1 last January 25, 2008.

My situation is that, I'm now 5 months pregnant...
My due date will be on June 22, 2008.
We haven't added the baby to I-129F Petition as he/she is not yet born.
Will it affect our process?
If the whole K1 will take 6 months I'll probably be giving birth before my interview.
I want to know if the baby can go with me to the US eventhough he/she is not included in the petition, although we have stated in our I-129F evidence that I'm currently pregnant with my fiance.

Want to know more about our case.

Thank you so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother silly question...
QUOTE (supranatural @ Mar 14 2008, 05:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have my hardcopy NOA2 in hand. On it, they state that "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate."

This can't mean it's gone through NVC already, can it?

And it says the "listed consulate." I don't see the consulate listed on the NOA2...so I can only assume they've sent it to the consulate in Kiev (in my case), right?

I know, my list of stupid questions seems endless...

My honey received the hard copy of NOA2 this week and it states the same thing as yours...I also compared it to the noa2 in the gallery here at vj and it's a little different because it says "Its forwarded to the listed consulate.".

So, he called the NVC and asked about our petition, the operator said that they already received it and within this week they will send my honey a letter stating that they already sent it to the consulate..and that I will be able to receive the packet as soon as it arrives at the consulate here in the philippines.

Has anyone out here completed and submitted all k1 paperwork on your own without the help of an immigration lawyer or outside service? I'm wondering, because as I follow the instructions on the government website, I'm finding it a bit tricky and complicated. But, I do feel confident that I can get this done the right way too. I'd like to hear what others have done. I just want this to work out right:)

thanks, Mike

Having a lawyer is overrated...
It's easy to fulfill requirements by yourself, you can save lots of monies and it's a pretty straight forward process.

Hi everyone!

I just got home from spending a week with my fiance in NC - I miss him sad.gif
Anyway, while I was down there, we got our paperwork and evidence all sorted and labelled. I brought it home to look over it one more time and include a few pictures I had forgotten and I will send it back to him to mail to Vermont. Here are my questions

#1) How should the paperwork be bound? Do I staple or put in a folder or what? I dont want to do anything that will comprimise the validity of the package

#2) My fiance is in a house with a roomate, but is thinking about moving into an apartment soon so we will have our own place as soon as I get there. Should we hold off on sending the paperwork until his address has changed? ( it would be in the next few weeks), or is it an easy process to change the address through the service centre? I was figuring it would be less time and hassle if we just waited, although I hate the thought of holding off any longer tongue.gif I just want to get the ball rolling so we can be together smile.gif

Any imput would be wonderful! thanks!

Jen

Hello Jen,

Here's the link that we got an idea for our I-129F application..
It worked and we didn't get an RFE.
It has all the information you need regarding your application.
With the address, i'm not sure what to advice but I think it's better to wait till he moved to his new address so that you won't need to inform the service center for it..it will take time also for changed of address.

Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOur journey...
QUOTE (shiri @ Apr 7 2009, 11:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

We all have wound up here on visa journey because we met and fell in love with someone from another nationality. My husband and I met while playing Final Fantasy XI online. He and I were friends that ended up falling in love. He is from Canada and I am from the United States of America. About a year to year and a half into our relationship, we knew we wanted to grow old together. We were both completely ignorant as to what it would entail by marrying someone from another country. At first, we didn't know what country we wanted to live in. We decided to get married by the justice of the peace while he was visiting. We knew if we got married we would have to choose a country. We searched, but didn't find the correct information... eventually on a trip over the border, one of the border patrol people told us that we had to start the journey either way for him to be able to come back into the United States. We were told that since he and I were married, he was no longer considered a visitor to the United States. They printed up the forms we would need for him to get either and IR-1/CR-1 and or K3 visa. He remained in Canada while I drove back home pregnant with my three children from a previous marriage. That was March 29, 2008. So technically error 1 for us was being ignorant of the K-1 visa... I didn't even know it existed until we started this process.

Once I got the G325A and the photos from him in the mail, I was able to submit our I130. I had an older copy of the instructions, I guess, lol and I sent it to the Nebraska office. About a week later, I got a package from them sending everything back telling me that I sent it to the wrong office and I needed to send it along with the later they sent to the Chicago Lock box and we ended up going through the California Service Center. So... that was Error 2! lol...

We got our NOA-1 on May 23, 2008 and our NOA-2 on September 12. We had no hitches there... no RFEs. So, our case number was assigned and we were sent our letter from the NVC on Sept 24. I paid the fees online and the support information through the NVC went through fine. (They didn't notify us that the joint sponsor's spouse needed to submit and affidavit of support also.) Now our error 3 would be that. Error 4 was that I sent copies of my husband's birth certificate, our marriage certificate and the PCC. They needed originals. I called the NVC about whether or not we would need his birth certificate translated. They informed me that even though it was in French, since the embassy was in Canada and that was the country he was born in, it didn't need to be translated.... they were wrong! lol So, there is error 5!

Error 6 for us was that I had my husband get another PCC from the RCMP instead of the one he sent me at first and I sent it in with a printed out copy of the barcode, instead of waiting to receive the RFE by mail... I thought that would save us time. It didn't... instead I got our first completion date at the NVC on 11-20-08 and when I called in on Dec 1 to see if we had an interview date, I was informed that they moved out our completion date to Dec 1, 2008. I finally found out our interview date in February 2008 and our interview date was March 24, 2009.

We didn't learn that error 3 was even an error until the interview when they couldn't issue the visa without it. We didn't learn the NVC advised us incorrectly about the translation of the birth certificate until we submitted what they asked for at the interview. My husband received a letter stating the only thing they were missing was the translated birth certificate. He has an appointment to get it translated tomorrow afternoon and then plans to take it to the Embassy in person... so we will finally see if he is approved sometime this month. I hope our series of mistakes can help someone to have a more smooth journey. Visa journey is a great place and if you found this... then you also found a lot of very educated people on the process. Good luck!

This serves as enlightenment to me..

Ill be very careful..thanks for the info..

I was reading somewhere that it can be helpful to have a letter from your family members supporting and acknowledging your relationship.

Is there perhaps a sample letter for this? If not, what specific information should such a letter include?

Thanks in advance for any information or ideas. good.gif

You were reading "somewhere". Where? On this site? I've never seen such a thing.
Then again, perhaps it could be helpful if we knew what you wanted to achieve.
You don't indicate what visa you are trying to get, or if you are adjusting status or removing conditions, or what???
You have no timeline. You don't indicate anything about yourself or your goals, only a very vague question.

Assuming that what you want is to demonstrate proof of bona fide relationship in the quest for a relationship based visa petition or AOS, then I've never heard of an outsider's letter (parent, boss, teacher, priest, whatever) as being relevant. I don't think it can hurt, but that's about all that can be said.

Rather than waste time on that, read the Guides, and follow the instructions therein.

alrighty then blink.gif

I am filing for a K1 Visa, I thought I was posting under the K1 Visa area?

I have read the guides throughly. I am in the process of completing the I-129F.

I have no timeline because I have not filed yet.

I have seen on a few sites that a letter from a relative could be helpful... here is one of them: http://www.immihelp.com/visas/kvisa/fiance-visa-petition.html

It does not give an example letter or any information on what the letter should include, so I thought I would ask the helpful people of VJ good.gif

I understand it is not necessary, however I believe it could be helpful.

Yes, it may not be necessary but can be very helpful. This might be a possible proof of ongoing relationship. It doesnt hurt to exert a little effort. Good luck! good.gif
