PhilippinesA quick poll on time since you saw your mahal
QUOTE (Jeff and Lenie @ Mar 6 2008, 01:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am just curious how long it will be when your MAHAL finally comes to America from when you last saw them, and how many times you have seen them from when you decided to go through the whole visa journey process.

As for me and Lenie, I last saw her in May when I stayed there for two weeks as her and I visited around my favorite places and saw my favorite people. When she gets here, it will be 10 months since I last saw her. It will be quite a shock, but a very very joyous time.

I arrived in the Philippines on 16Aug., just 4.5 hours ahead of my honey's 27th birthday. We stayed together in Pasig City for 2 months until my departure 15Oct.

I will see her in early to mid-June before our expected delivery date of 22-27June08. We chat online w/ skype video call every morning and evening. It will be 8 months between our last in person contact. We had our Noa2 approved on 5March08. We're very excited about our future.

Philippineshard to forget momment with your fiancee/fiance
My most unforgettable moment with my honey is our first moments together after I arrived. It was so surreal to finally see her after months of chatting. She and her Tita were waiting for me outside and at first I didn't see them. A quick glance to my right and a wave hello acknowledged that we saw each other. After a few moments of exchanging hellos, hugs and small kisses we were on our way to our condo. In the taxi I kept looking at my honey like, wow, I can't believe I'm finally here with her. I kept wanting to kiss her but we had to wait. After her Tita left and it was just her and I and we were unpacking our things, organizing our stuffs. I finally grabbed her and told her I wanted to kiss her now. It was our first real romantic kiss.

We have lots of crazy times like you all, wrestling in bed, being silly always. I remember asking her if she had ever had French toast and how it was made? She replied, "you take the bread and put it in the oven!" which at that time was so funny. biggrin.gif

PhilippinesPassport application
QUOTE (Jon-n-Michelle @ Mar 21 2008, 10:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance applied for her passport about 2 weeks ago. They told her it wouldn't release until April 14. The DFA website says it only takes 14 days regular, or 7 days to expedite it. Why the difference? She filed in CDO, if that makes a difference. I'd like to hear from some of the ladies here on how long it took to get their passport.

I applied last March 13 and will pick it up on April 4..I think the reason why it took so long is that it's because of the holy week. It should only be 2 weeks for the regular processing and 7 days for expedite processing.

PhilippinesSLEC - Pregnant Beneficiary

TinTin had her Medical Exam at SLEC this week and here are the answers to the questions that we were trying to find out before her exam. See answers in BOLD below:

Warm Regards,
Samby

QUOTE (TinTin and Samby @ Mar 7 2008, 12:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all.

I have 3 questions regarding my TinTin's upcoming SLEC Medical Exam next week for her K1 visa.

#1) As I understand it, the SLEC (and USE) tries to tell the pregnant woman that the XRay is perfectly safe for the fetus with the apron shield in place. However, I also understand that if the woman insists on not taking the xray, an exception is available and granted. Can anyone confirm this?

The X Ray waiver for pregnant beneficiaries was discontinued in October 2007. The waiver is no longer available. All beneficiaries regardless of how early or late they are in their pregnancies are required to have a chest Xray. No Xray, no Embassy Interview. No Embassy Interview, no Visa. Of course you can choose to postpone the xray until after the (local) birth of the baby. If that will be within 6 months of the medical exam, then you can return for the xray only and its results, as well as the previous medical records, will then be forwarded to the US Embassy. If it will be longer than 6 months, then the other parts of the medical exam will expire and the entire medical exam will have to be redone - including another full SLEC Medical Payment.

#2) What about vaccinations? Are all vaccinations skipped due to pregnancy (to be done in US after baby's birth, but before AOS)?

Yes, for the philippines, all available vaccinations are granted a deferral until after the baby is born in the states. Note, however, that there are some vaccines that are not contra indicated during pregnancy. However, none of those are currently available in the phillippines.

#3) If the Xray is not taken and the Vaccinations are not done, does that mean that an SLEC exam for a pregnant woman is only 1 day? 2nd day not required because no xray to pick up or vaccinations to take? Can anyone comment on this? If you were pregnant, did they finish everything, including all paperwork on day 1 so no need to return for day 2?

If you arrive and start early enough in the morning, there is a small possibility that all results will be complete and ready for release on the first day. However, most likely, you will still need to return on day 2 to pick up the release papers.

Thanks much!

Warm Regards,
Samby

Hi fellow preggy beneficiaries...

I've read something about xray for pregnant..

Is it safe to have x-rays while pregnant?

X-rays are generally safe during pregnancy. In most x-ray tests, the dose of radiation to the fetus is quite small. The usual exposure limit of an unborn baby is 5 units of radiation. Most x-rays have much less radiation. Special techniques can be used to reduce fetal exposure even further. For example, a lead apron can be placed over your abdomen and pelvis to protect the fetus when the x-rays are taken. If you think you might be pregnant, tell your doctor so that an informed decision can be made.

I got it from this: http://www.healthato...c/tp/tpxray.jsp

PhilippinesSLEC - Pregnant Beneficiary
QUOTE (docjazzie @ Mar 10 2008, 04:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Depending on how far you are in your pregnancy, SLEC might do an xray. But definitely an xray is contraindicated during the first 3 months or the first trimester. Because it is teratogenic or is harmful to the babies. Same with the immunizations. SLEC gives out 2 vaccines, varicella and MMR which is also contraindicated for pregnant women regardless of how far they are in their pregnancy.

With these info, I hope someone from VJ will post her experience whether the medical lasted for one day only. Logic wise, it should only take a day smile.gif

sorry i wasn't of much help sad.gif

I've got some questions after I receive the NOA2..

My fiance called the NVC yesterday and got our case number, today I paid delbros but haven't texted them about the payment.

My questions:
1. Will I have to wait for USE to send me something before calling them for an interview appointment?
or I could just call them even without receiving anything from them as long as I have my MNL case number?

2. How much is the visa application fee that I have to pay at BPI/Citibank? I know it's $131 but what's the peso equivalent when you're paying it at the bank?

Thank you!

PhilippinesObtaining passport in the philippines question
QUOTE (forgiven @ Apr 11 2008, 10:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Is it difficult for my gf to get her passport in the philippines on her own or is it advisable to go through a travel agency there? She was told about having to go through an interview on her own but if she used a travel agency she wouldn't have to interview.

Thanks

Hello..

You're fiancee can apply her passport within a day or even half a day..
Here's the requirements:
http://www.dfa.gov.p...m-ppt-page2.pdf

Personal Appearance is required.*
?? Duly accomplished application form.
?? Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of
BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
?? Three (3) colored photos of the applicant taken against a royal blue background. Applicant should be in decent attire with collar. Photo must be of good quality, and must have been taken within the last six (6) months. Photo size: 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm. Facial image size: Not less than 3 cm.
DFA has the right to reject photos that do not comply with specifications and international standards.
?? Proof of identity / Supporting documents indicating full name, date and place of birth and citizenship
?? Other Supporting documents (please refer to the list below)

Additional Requirements
For married women, who want to use surname of their spouse
?? Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO or Certified True Copy issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.
For married women who would like to revert back to their maiden name
?? If already widowed: Death Certificate of the deceased husband;
?? If marriage is annulled: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on annulment and NSO-issued MC with the
annotation on the annulment decree;
?? If divorced: Certified true copy and photocopy of the first page and the dispositive portion of the judgment on divorce secured by foreign spouse authenticated by
the Philippine Embassy or Consulate where the divorce is obtained.

Here's the application form, she should print it in legal size (long bond) paper.
http://www.dfa.gov.p...m-ppt-page1.pdf

Once she completes all the requirements, she's ready to go to DFA in Manila..(if she's from manila).
Then, remind her not to follow persons who are approaching her outside the DFA, those are just fixers who will charged her with lots of money, they will say there's no number anymore and sometimes they will tell you to have the picture taken in their office...Just DON'T follow them..go straight to the DFA's basketball court where the first step is. I also suggest that, she should go there early like maybe at 5 am because there's a lot of applicants.

Sometimes the picture that you have is not enough for their specifications...you just have to have another picture taken inside the DFA... that will just cost you 150 pesos..compared to the price that the fixers are offering outside which is about 500 pesos..so better be strong not to follow them.

It will only take her the whole morning or even less to have the whole process...there's a line to follow..steps that are easy to follow..

She won't need any interview at all..she will just have to present all of her documents to window..and they will just check it.

The last process would be payment, if she wanted to get it after 7 days..she will have to pay 750 pesos to expediate..the regular processing will take 14 working days.

I hope it helps you a little...

My honey and I are approaching our medical and interview shortly. Here is my question:

Beginning in the spring of 2005 I started my own business. Before Dec. of 2007 this was my main income earner. For the last three years, '05, '06 and, '07 I have earned below the poverty line as proscribed by the k-1 visa.
In mid-Dec. of 2007 I was hired at a financial institution where my base salary exceeds the poverty level requirements for 3 people, my honey, our baby and myself.
Although my 1040 for '07 is well below the poverty maximum, will my new job and salary appease the consulor in determining that my honey and baby will not become a public charge upon entry?

I remember reading on another site a discussion with a consulor who stated each couples financial situation is unique and the acting consulor will take in consideration the totality of circumstances when evaluating if a beneficiary will be eligible for approval?

Any thoughts, feedback and comments are welcomed. Thank you/salamat:)

Then I asked the person who answered me about the status of my payment.
He asked me my case number, name, and date paid...
I paid last March 25...
Then he told me that it will be forwarded to the NSO this April 14.
So It means that they will start the process by April 14.
But I will still call them on April 15 to check the status of my payment.

Hope this will give you an idea.

PhilippinesApril 22nd Interview Experience
QUOTE (Dr Mirage @ Apr 22 2008, 01:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello guys,

We had our appointment on April 22nd at 7:30am.

I'm now at the lobby of Bayview Hotel across the embassy 12:30pm and writing this post about my experience before I leave the hotel.

We finished our interview at around 11:15am and before I go out and start celebrating with my family and fiance, I want to update you fellow VJ'ers because I know how important these posts are to you who are having their interview on April 23rd, 24th and 25th.

I'll skip all the specific details about filling in line and getting your ticket number etc because its pretty much self explanatory.

But before you get into the embassy, have your appointment letter with one valid ID before you enter the Embassy.

Today we met up with about a dozen VJ members including Sandy, Prime & Ryan... ETC. Sorry for those I do not remember, because I didnt really ask for everyonnes profile.

I was surprised to see that there were about 100 K-1, K-2, K-3 who were interviewed today because I wasn't expecting that many who are scheduled.

Before you get your ticket # in the que. Have all these prepared before you reach the window. (about 1 hour wait)

2 copies of DS-156 (paste the picture and sign the applicant signature),
2 copies of DS-157 (one from the bank that is validated, and the one that you filled up yourself)
1 copy DS-156K

After this step, you wait to get scanned for finger prints. (about 30 mins wait)

The most important are the documents that the pre-screener asked for.
I was asked if I was the petitioner. Second, if my fiance has been married before. Third, they requested for Birth Certificate, NBI Clearance, 2007 ITR (1040) most recent and the affidavit of support. Lastly, they asked my fiance if she worked out side the Philippines.

They did not ask for the Cenomar, Check Stubs, W-2s, letters, email. I brought 3 years of ITR and W-2s but were not necessary. They only asked for the most recent 1040 2007 ITR.

The pre screener did ask for pictures, but we had enough with the petition that we submitted with the I-129F. After the pre-screen we sat back down and waited about more than 30 mins for our ticket # to be called for the final interview.

Then we waited to be called for the CO.

The CO that interviewed my fiance asked me to step outside the door and leave all my documents with my fiance. Most of the petitioners who did attend were admitted in the interview room, but I wasnt able to go inside.

The interview took about 5 mins while I waited outside. The CO was very nice and asked these question.

First question, the CO asked about my parents (petitioner) what do they do for a living.
Second question, if my fiance was married or pregnant before
Third question is on how we met.
Forth question, CO asked about the restaurant that we went to when we first met.
Fifth question, CO asked where he can buy a good egg tart.
Sixth question, CO asked if my fiance knew this other bake shop
Seventh question, CO asked if my fiance has been to the US.
Eight question, CO asked about the denied tourist visa she applied for June of 2007. (if my fiance's intention was to visit me) My fiance said NO.
Last question, CO asked how we communicate.

Then CO was writing, he quickly said that we were approved!!! The whole interview lasted for 3-5 mins. We really didn't time it, but my fiance said it was very easy and the CO was very nice. we were at window 32.

We asked for a visa pickup but the CO says they no longer let people pick up the visa.
The CO asked why we need the VISA pickup, and we said because we have our reservation and we will be leaving on May 2nd. The CO says he will try his best that we get our visa before that because they are no longer allowing visa pick up.

We then filled and paid for Delbros to deliver our visa with others who got approve with the PINK SLIP. Everyone seemed to have gotten approved. I didnt see any white slips. Also, I see people smiling after their interviews which means they got the approval.

For everyone who will be having their interviews this week or in the future. My advise is to just relax and have all your documents ready. Do not be nevrous or worry too much.

If you have all your documents ready you will be approved. Also, get your DOC verification early, we paid for our doc verification March 6th and NSO received it on March 17th. (do this early so there will not be a problem).

Thank you all for all those who have helped here in VJ. I wish everyone the best in your future interview and I hope what I have written down can help you get that approval.

Doc-

Congrats!
