hi guys,

im writing this here because most of my friends and family dont know that adriano is not in italy legally...

...

Hey Susie,
You know, actually one of my best friends here in NY is illegal. She came here legally but through all the red tape of trying to get a green card, is still without one after living in NY for almost a decade. I just wanted to say, sometimes these things happen, and not all people are going to make negative assumptions about illegal immigrants b/c the media would like us to.
The only advice I can give at the moment is try not to jump to the worst conclusions. I'm sure that's easier said than done, but right now you don't know what's going on with him, and there is really no point in giving yourself an ulcer thinking of all the worst things it could be. Just try to be patient until you hear from him.
Rae

Hi Susie-

Your post really got to my heartstrings... I can't say I know what you feel, but I know the fear that your loved one is in trouble, and I feel for you. Stay strong- he needs that from you right now. Is there anyone in his life there in Italy that you can contact to find out what's going on? I'm sure you've already thought of that... Maybe call his place of work? I suppose- that is if you speak italian... Good luck to you. I wish I had some good advice for you. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive- our minds always go to the worst place when we're worried... Try to stay strong, and wait it out. He'll call you when he can, and hopefully then you'll know the situation and things won't be all that bad. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

QUICK! I am about to call my Senator and explain to them all the issues we have with USCIS, and i cannot remember the situation exactly... I'm going to tell him about our situation (and we've only been waiting a little over 100 days), but i also want to mention how VSC was prioritizing a different type of work visa. Can someone remind me of what this situation was exactly?

They prioritize work-related employment visas before family visas. They have 2 months to approve work visas but have unlimited time to approve family viasas. They are promoting a 6 moth waiting time as of today, but they can change this whenever they want with minimal to zero consequence.

Thank you! I tried to call, but he's not in today (figures). His secretary said he'd call me back, so I'll add this to my ammuntion! smile.gif I never thought anyone would actually get back to me about the letters i sent, so i wasn't really prepared to talk to anyone about this!

Maybe I missed some new approvals today. Or maybe some people were just a bit slow to update. but there seems to be 29 listed approvals for November. At any rate, that's good. Right?

I also count 29, which is great! But I still want MORE!!!!!! devil.gif

I can't remember who was already approved but zizzyb (Massimo & Lindsay) finally figured out how to update their timeline & it looks like 1 or 2 others belatedly reported their NOA2's.

VSC has done a great job so far this month. Let's hope they keep it up. smile.gif

I really appreciate it when Bill is positive... makes me hopeful... good.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresfrom Morocco to Usa
Salam!! We are happy to have joined your list of friends, and will help you in any way that we can. Yes, your first step is to arrange to go to Morocco and meet this wonderful man. Make sure that you keep all the evidence of the trip, i.e., plane tickets/reservations, travel receipts within Morocco, take lots of photos together and with his family, etc. You will want to keep phone records of your conversations, as this will show further proof. Emails, chat logs, exchanged letters and cards, etc, will all help.

Whether you decide to marry or become engaged will determine which type of visa you apply for. It is not as intimidating as it sounds, and the USCIS website below is a big help in guiding you. Also, it will direct you to all of the necessary forms. http://www.uscis.gov...000082ca60aRCRD But this cannot be filed until you return from Morocco with the proof of the visit and either an engagement or wedding. (Warning: getting married in Morocco requires patience and TIME. There are a lot of hoops to jump through, a lot of palms to grease!)

You should plan on about an eight month visa process. It can be shorter or longer, and there are no guarantees that he would be approved. But if your love is sincere, you will work hard to be together, and inshaallah, your patience would be rewarded!!

This is it in a nutshell.....of course there are lots of little steps along the way, and all of your VJ friends can help to guide you.

Good luck to you, and please feel free to send me a personal message so we can get to know each other a little better. I was in Morocco in July and just loved it. (Of course, what I loved best was being with Salim.)

So welcome to Visa Journey, let's get you started!!

All the best,
~Beth

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI need your help

im trying to sponsor my fiance and her 2 children from Vietnam. I'm a single father of 3 boys. My oldest is 19 and receives ssi approximately 7,000 dollars a year. I can include him in my taxes if needed or not if it helps me with income guide lines. So if I I claim him that would be 4 dependents on my taxes. Imade close to 39,000 dollars and will continue to make more each year because of our union contract. Will I qualify or will I have to have a consignor? Ihave a little 401 k plan and life insurance policies if that helps. Please help me. Rich

I'm confused....you say that you are trying to sponsor your fiancee and her 2 kids, but on your profile you say that you recently went to Veitnam and married your Cambodian princess. Are you married or not? If you are, you don't file a K-1.......

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview on Tuesday..
Dear Teresa and Bijad,

BEST OF LUCK to you both on Tuesday. I will pray that Bijad feels relaxed and at ease, and that his answers come from his heart. Even if he doesn't have the "right" answer that they are looking for, hopefully they will see that he is sincere and genuine, and not trying to hide anything. And for Teresa, I know you will be a nervous wreck, but try to direct your energy into giving Bijad strength. It will surely be a long night for you while you await his call, but we will be praying for a positive outcome and news of a reunion very soon!! We know where you guys are in this process, our own interview is on the 28th and it is so hard to follow the advice to "just stay cool"! Maybe that would be easier if we were dealing with another consulate! lol

Our best wishes are with you as you await your important day. May God/Allah give you peace, serenity, and strength.

All the best,
~Beth & Salim

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionOne week ago today...

Bijad had his interview! Woohoo and it went well...

I called DOS today and I got Ms. B!tch on the phone. She informed me that his interview was only a week ago. Duh! I know this. I asked if our AP was at the Consulate or if it was sent back to the USA for extra background checks and what not. She told me the file never leaves the Consulate- only electronically. Ok, so? haha... she told me I wouldn't hear anything for atleast 6 weeks. Grr!!

Bijad called me a few hours later. The consulate called for him to pick up his passport (with VISA) tomorrow after 3 pm!!! WOOHOO!!!! (It's super big so you can read it ok. )

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!!!! I just saw the "approved" on your profile when I was posting on another thread you replied to tonight!! (I hadn't made it to reading "One week ago today..." yet!) We are SOOOOOO happy for you!!!! You are very fortunate that your AP only lasted a week, what a sweet phone call that must have been from Bijad when he called to tell you the exciting news! CONGRATULATIONS, now it is on to planning for his arrival on U.S. soil.....any idea how soon that might be? Enjoy your celebration, we look forward to hearing more about your upcoming reunion as your plans unfold.

Once again, congratulations....hamdullilah!!

All the best,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionThe Blonde Lady gets a gold star.......We're APPROVED!!!!
Salam again everyone!

The news for us from Casablanca this morning was wonderful.....we were APPROVED for our K-1 visa!!!! I was only able to talk with Salim for a short while, but I will try to tell you what I remember:

He had the blonde lady, so he started off feeling even a little more nervous. She asked him to tell her about where I was born, when my father finished his Air Force enlistment, what schools I had attended, and some information about Maine , the city where I live, and some towns surrounding it. I guess she gave him a few smiles during the interview, and he was able to relax a little, although at one point she asked him if he was nervous, and when he answered "yes", she said something like, "You don't have any reason to be." He answered all of her questions, and corrected himself when he made a mistake about one date. I guess she laughed at him and said, "I think if I ask you to tell me about your fiancee, you could talk all day!" LOL So in the end she told him that we are approved, and they will call him to come and pick up his passport and visa.

I want to thank each of you who has been so encouraging to us along this journey, answering questions and offering prayers, and especially to my sweet new friend Paula, who was also approved this morning. We kept each other company on the phone last night for several hours before getting a few winks and awaiting the news. Hamdulillah, I am so happy to report that we received good news, and I will continue to pray for all of the couples who are waiting to be reunited with their loved ones. As soon as I am able to talk with Salim and get all of the details, I will post a full interview review on my profile. I know it helped us tremendously to read of others' experiences with the consulate, and we'd like to "pay it forward".

Thanks once again for all your prayers.

~Beth & Salim

PhilippinesWhat's the most memorable event in your sporting life?
2 great moments in sporting history:

The most exciting experience I have PERSONALLY had was when I went skydiving at 'Skydive Chicago' on 8/1/98. It was a perfect day, felt the rush of the freefall, and then glided under the canopy for about 4 or 5 minutes. I could see the fields below me gently rippling, and it was soooo peaceful! I still have the videotape and photographs from the experience.

Better yet was the Boston Red Sox winning the 2004 World Series, after 86 L-O-N-G years without a championship!!! For any long-suffering Red Sox fan, it was the moment of a lifetime. I laughed, I cried, and I was so glad that my grandmother had lived to see it! She was born in 1918, the last year they had won a World Series, and she wanted so badly to see them win another one in her lifetime. She saw it, although we lost her a little over a year later. But it was a wonderful moment in history for all of "Red Sox Nation"!!! (And then they proved they weren't a 'one-trick pony' team by winning it again in '06! happy.gif )

PhilippinesFiancee's aunt co-sponsoring my fiancee

Manila is one of the tougher embassies and the practices in other countries do not necessarily apply here. It's always best to get info from those that have recently passed through the embassy/consulate in question.

From what we have seen here on VJ, Manila will accept a close relative as a co-sponsor. Typically this is the petitioner's close relative, not the beneficiary's. For all the reasons stated previously regarding immigration from the Philippines.

A K1 co-sponsor that is a relative of the beneficiary may raise questions about the validity of the relationship. Is this immigration for love, or simply a way to join other family members in the US? (Interviewing officer's question, not my question)

Different embassy, different practices. Manila is nothing like what you likely experienced.

Unfortunately, not at all the realities of Manila. Co-sponsorship for K visas can be tough.

This may be true, however the rules for the USCIS remains the same, whether they approve it or not (true) depends upon the embassy. However, my parents would've been close relatives and I don't see how it would be a problem as far as being denied goes. As long as they know you are taken care of and wont be a public burden then you should be all set to go. They are looking for criminals and people who are going to be an issue, as far as denial goes. If you have the money needed to support yourself and not become an issue, then there shouldn't be an ISSUE lol. Those who are denied visas often have other problems as well, like confusing background history or unsubstantial evidence ect.

If their aunt can support them and meet the requirements, then they should go for it...they haven't got anything to lose if it's the best option they have. And I certainly wouldn't stress over it before they even get approved or denied yet. Chances are they will be approved over on our end, and the rest will be left up to the interview.

Anyways, you are right that certain Embassys are more lenient than others, but I wouldn't put the case down yet. I think it's certainly doable. That's just me :)

I'm more or less repeating what everyone else here has stated...your answer is: YES! My parents co-sponsored for me and my fiance and we were approved, you simply have to make sure that her income meets the requirements.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone get an RCMP fingerprint check?
[You can email David Greene (a very nice man) at Commissionaires in Canada. His email is dgreene@commissionaires-ottawa.on.ca They can do both name based and fingerprint based checks. He will send you a form and instructions. IT is very reasonable and much quicker than going to the Canadian Mounted Police.

Good luck. Let me know when everything works out.

The name based check worked fine. This certainly sped things along. My husband has been in the US for over a year. We are still apart, as he lives in NYC and i am in Maine. But at least it is a driveable distance.

Canadacandian police certificate
Ok, NVC sent an RFE quoting the Canadian rule that my husband has to get a fingerprint based check. So, now I am wondering about all the people I read who live outside Canada and had gone to Canada and gotten a name=based check. Were their's accepted? I have emailed NVC to request a response about whether it is acceptable for him to fly to Canada/ the Canadian site just says "present" not "residing" in Canada. We have submitted for fingerprint based certificate. Usually COmmissionaires could do this quicker, but their machine has to be inspected and could take months. we got an extra set of prints just in case they get up and running again.

I'm still determined to move this process along......the separation is getting old.

good luck to everyone else.

Canadacandian police certificate
I do not want to disuade anyone from getting the fingernprint check if they are outside Canada. My understanding is that the requirement for a fingerprint check does not have to do with living outside Canada, but applying for the check from outside Canada. My husband can fly there anytime and get a fingerprint check as long as he is present in Canada.

The police certificate we received from COmmissionaires is a regular police certificate from CPIC check-name-based. It is issued from RCMP authorized office 16 and signed by the police Chief in Charlottetown. It is a certificate for employment, visa, and foreigntravel/work. As far as I know it is the same certificate we would get if he arrived in Canada and requested a name check.

Our application was submitted last week. I wil let everyone know when we hear anything.

Best of luck

Canadacandian police certificate
I have thwarted the Canadian system!!! Hahaha! They contract with other agencies, including Commissionaire. I contacted them and they will do a name based criminal record check (CPIC) and send the results within 2 weeks. I contacted them through the main office in Ottawa and they emailed the forms and instructions. You then have to email them a credit card for payment. I will take the 2 weeks over 6 months wait any time!

Thank you everyone for all your help. This result is proof that the law of attraction works..........and I am grateful to the universe for making it possible for my husband to get here sooner.

My husband is in Brazil, immigrating to the US. He lived in Montreal for a year and we need to get his police certificate. I see the RCMP website saying we need to submit finger prints and wait 150 days plus. I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible for me to come to Montreal as his wife and get his police certificate from the local police there? Or, is there any other way to expedite this process?

Thank you in advance for your help...

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1/NOA2 spreadsheet tracking, K-3 filers
QUOTE (JimAndCarol @ Jun 24 2008, 04:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This thread is in response to a thread I saw requesting the Delicia add K3 filers to her spreadsheet. I understand the reasoning behind keeping CR1/IR1 and K3 separated. Therefore, I have started this spreadsheet for K3 filers, like myself, who are waiting for their NOA2. I am a numbers person and I like to see when people near my filing date are getting approved.

You can find the spreadsheet here.

So, thank you Delicia for showing us how Google Docs can be used. I have never tried this before but am always interested to learn new tools. So I figured I would give this one a shot...

1. For all the California filers, I plan to add those spreadsheets tomorrow.

2. Both California and Vermont filers can send me their updates/changes and I will be happy to update the spreadsheets.

3. Cells highlighted in GREEN refer to approvals that have occurred over the last month.

4. Cells highlighted in YELLOW refer to recent touches. (Disclaimer: We all have seen that approvals sometimes happen with or without previous touches. But this is just another indicator that I was curious to track.)

5. If anyone has any suggestions for changes to the layout of the spreadsheet or additional columns, averaging wait times, etc... I will gladly take those suggestions also.

5. Lastly, If anyone would like to volunteer to share the updating responsibility, you are always welcome to do that also.

Ok, Best of luck to everyone and wishing you all speedy approvals.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJoint filed taxes
I think I can shed some light on part of your question. I also had my mother file an affidavit of support. She two had the question if she had to get information for my step-father. My lawyer informed her that she only need to fill out the forms and did not want information concerning my step-father. I hope this helps. Good luck with the interview.

QUOTE (littleasianman7 @ Jun 16 2008, 04:28 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey guys,

Here is my new dilemma:

My fiance has her interview on July 7th, and my mother who is my co-sponsor just informed me that she files taxes jointly with my dad.
My mom is the co-sponsor, but because they file taxes together, does that mean I need to have an affidavit of support from my mom, my dad, and me, for a total of THREE affidavits that need to be provided to the embassy?

Also, does that mean I also need to provide financial information from my dad as well, such as letter from employer, w2's, tax returns, etc?
I just don't understand why that would be necessary as my mother is the co-sponsor, not my dad.

Also, they filed for an extension for their 2007 taxes, however I am able to provide my mother's tax returns, etc. for 2004, 2005 and 2006, as well as her W2's from this current year. Does the embassy expect returns from this current year or only last year with this years w2's?
Thanks guys, and basically I am sort of flipping out because the interview is in less than 3 weeks.

Thanks again.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice and Medical Checks before Embassy Gets documents?
QUOTE (Iliad @ Jul 22 2008, 11:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So we are waiting for NVC to process our I-129F...its been 7 weeks now and they said they still dont have it...but thats another story =/

So my question is can my fiance go ahead and do her Police and Medical check before the Embassy gets the documents? We are filing through the Embassy in Tokyo Japan. The Embassy Info says you can do this but what documents do i need other than the NOA2? Where can i get the documents for the Medical check? Thanks for you help everyone!

I had asked the same questions and I contacted the US embassy in my wife's country (Bulgaria) and asked them. They said the police certificate could be up to six months so that I could so anytime and the medical they said no more than a month before the interview so that you should wait. Best advice is to go to Japan's US embassy page and get there email and send off that question.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEnough evidence, hopefully?!

Well we sent it out so whatever else they want I guess I'm going to have to pull out of my ####. We are both in our early 20's and have nothing to our name. I think you all think it's so easy to just provide them with all of this information. It's hard to get started in life when I am disabled and my husband has never even had a steady job. I'm glad for all of you but when it came down to what we tried to send it was frustrating.

We live with my dad.
I don't have a drivers license, my husband does.
He's on my dads car insurance.
We don't have any bills.
We have medicaid from the state.
This is the first year we have had to file taxes.
It's been a rough year with my mother passing away I just don't know what else to do.
