Mexico, Latin & South AmericaCalling cards vs.phone bills
I have been in Maine now since Sept 1st and my phone bills are a huge stress... sooo much money to call St Lucia. I think 52 cents a minute. I have well over $1000 in phone bills (almost paid them all) and finally called the phone company and blocked all overseas calls, otherwise I could not dicipline myself. So now I use www.enjoyprepaid.com and get about 17 cents a minute - much better! I can also top up Louis' digicel online. This way all the phone bills are paid BEFORE we make calls. Unfortunetly the 800 #s do not show on my phone bill!

I also finally convinced Louis to try e-mail. Since his own home has no running water etc internet is not an option at home but I convinced him to go to a mutual friend's house to use her computer. (he is not real fond of her) He can also sneak at work and check once in a while. But lawd! Trying to teach him over the phone to use e-mail - what a PIA!! LOL I told him he had to figure it out becuase without my huge phone bills we had to have some "proof"... We also have written each other a couple snail mails but there is another headache - the Lucian mail system!

I should know what AI means... Holy cow I work in the hotel business... Blonde moment.

I have been to Mobay for work and vacation etc, but I knew people. I will tell her to research Negril. I am afraid she will go back down to SLU and link up with the JackA$$ she met before.

Thanks all!

Irie i think she would love JA, but in my opinion i think she should go with someone to JA first, as we all know JA can be a little overwhelming as a newbie. After subsequent visits to see D, i felt fine going places alone, and felt comfortable getting around on my own, while D was at work. Now if she stays in an AI, she will meet people and still enjoy herself, but being that JA is a place to relax and party, she might have more fun with a friend. Just my opinion wink.gif

She does everything alone so thats not a big deal. She is gutsy too... I mean she would be smart but not afraid of being outgoing. :-)

What is AI? Sorry.... LOL

Good morning Everyone!!!

Well my daughter made it home safe after spending the past 17 days with her father. She said she had fun but I am so glad she is home! PHEW!!!

Louis and I have been sightseeing and chillin. I think he really likes Maine. We took a boat ride off the coast and saw all the little islands. We have gone to parks and lighthouses, lakes and beaches. He loves everything. He is still a bit annoyed by people staring at him but I told him to get over it... I went through it for 6 months in St Lucia. At least he doesn't have to deal with cat calls and people yelling at him as we drive down the street! LOL

Congrats to Lawny and Marcel ... hope you two are having fun!!!
Good luck and congrats to anyone and everyone else. There are just too many pages to catch up with!! blink.gif

......

Oh! on another topic... I have a girlfriend that wants to take a vacation by herself over Christmas. She has been to SLU twice to visit me so I told her to try something new. What do you all think about sending her to Jamaica?

Peace & Blessings.... Irie

Good afternoon! I am finally waking up after a couple HUGE cups of coffee. Louis keeps me up too late, I am in need of some beauty sleep!

I just got my dress for the wedding today! Fits perfect and looks as best a white dress can on me! LOL
Tierra got her dress too! YAY!

I have a funny little thing today... I just had a phone/work meeting and when I was off I went to check on Tierra in the bedroom. I had to laugh... she was listening to some old school Madonna on the radio, had blue eyeshadow on and was painting her toe nails! I think she just took a trip back to the 80's!

She leaves tomorrow for 17 days in FL with her father. I am looking forward to the me and Louis time... but I will miss her crazy butt!

LOL - the whole Reggae scene up in New England is a small world - Bigga used to live in NY and sing with a band called UNI years ago - The other band that I love up that way (Boston based) is Hot like Fire - also Jamdown, that is from out on Cape Cod

Louis doesnt sing or play anything - but of course loves reggae... I have to get him out and about to meet some people. The lead singer of Stream is an older Ras from Dominica... St Lucia's neighbor. I will have to get them to meet each other. Will have to get down to Boston some weekend for some fun. Introduce to the ex.... :-)

We are going to a Cardinal baseball game Thursday night. On the actual 4th, Andre has to work 1 - 10 pm which pisses me off to no end. He always gets the very worst shifts on holidays. We are both off on Saturday so we might hit Fair St. Louis which is a big deal and takes over downtown.

A fair sounds fun! At least does Andre get paid more for the Holidays?

I think I finally made some plans.. going to a small island off of Portland. My friend who lives in DC is coming up for the summer and her mom has a little cottage (shack) out there and we can see the fireworks and stay for Reggae Sunday! Yay... glad I have plans. Last year I was in St Lucia and obviously had no fireworks (except the one with Louis!! LOLOLOLOL)

Sounds like fun Cat. I love the "attempts" at reggae parties we have up here... whistling.gif but better than nothing I guess! I bet Louis will be impressed with the fireworks.

My daughter and I are just staying local for parade and small town festivities and fireworks. On Saturday my cousin is getting married so that will be my big fun and I will get to dance! Of course the redneck portion of my family will also be there for entertainment purposes. wacko.gif

Every Sunday in the summer on Peaks Island there is Reggae Sunday. Its a bar right on the water and its reggae and booze! Its no fantastic or anything but when the weather is nice is great to be outside and hear the music. And now its not just a bunch of White guys playing reggae... the lead is actually from Dominica! LOL

in July i am going to file for divorce....there are many things i have come to realize about mike and that he is never going to change or be the man i need him to be....and honestly he was just in it for the GC.....it sucks to realize that....life goes on.....

a lot of things have started to fall into place...so in a couple of months i will start taking classes at a local college and be able to stay home with Kaila....which is great!!

I am happy to hear about all the recent approvals!!!

Tierra will be the flower girl/maid of honor LOL all mixed up. No one else will be standing up with us. My aunt will marry us.

Honey - I hope you can talk to your man today. It is good news that he is at home though!

.. Yesterday Tierra, Louis and I took a walk around the 'hood... I live near a really pretty park with a river/waterfall running through it. Louis said he wouldnt mind getting married there... so I e-mailed the park director and YES! They have the night available that I want and it is only $50! Oh I am happy - some good news! I originally wanted the beach but the river reminds me of the places Louis and I would go in St Lucia. Its also a 5 minute walk from my apartment and the sounds the falls make is so nice. Now lets pray for sun on August 23rd! happy.gif

Sunny, I am glad things are moving along, hope you get a drop off date soon.

I am still hanging in there but still very upset about my current relationship status.. sad.gif The one thing that keeps me going is the thought of holding my baby girl in my arms in a few months, everytime I feel a kick (which is quite often) it reminds me of what awaits.. I can't wait to see her already!

Thanks mommy girl... I hope that I hear something soon. You hang in there and things will work themselves out. Have you picked out a name for the baby?

Irie, those picutures are so darn cute. You and Louis look very nice together, and your daugther is the cutest...

Sunny, picking a name is sooo hard for me! I am so indecisive at times. I thought I had a name chosen but now not so sure.. I am not sure if its too common.

I'm gladly taking suggestions from you ladies. whistling.gif

There are so many names to choose from. It would be hard for me too....

Here's a few:

Kiyah
Kayla
Raven
Raya
Nia
Amber
Oh and Sha-nay-nay...lol Don't you dare!

Oh! Kaya is my next daughter's name! :-) Kaya Noel (Louis' mom's maiden name)!!!

I have one too! LOL... but there is NO WAY Tierra could fit in it now!!

JAE - those are great pics! I was a photo major in college but just never make time to sell andthing or do portraits etc. I would really like to make money doing what I love to do!
Do you have a studio? What do you use for backgrounds?

Was thinking about this and yes I know what you mean.
I love photography, but I think the market is not only over-saturated with photography, but most people buy a point and shoot digicam and just take their own instead of hiring a photographer.
Photography for me is a serious hobby, but I have no plans to do it full time. Again, photography is mostly free-lance, I would be scared to rely on it to pay the rent!!
Most of the money I make goes straight back into buying accessories, even though now I have pretty much everything I need!!
Also, I have bought stuff like a camera battery grip, external flash battery, so my operating costs are almost nil....

You ever thought of doing photography of architecture and interiors? The market for this is open because its always hard for designers to find a good photographer to take their finished work shots.

I have done a bit of that also. My mom works for a RealEstate agent and have done some pictures for a few agents. I really need to get assertive and get my a$$ in gear. There is so much I could do. I wish I had more business sense.

He is VERY organized which is great! I am just getting everything together for him in the correct order, cover letter, etc.
He has taken 2 trips to visit fiance in the Ukraine. He also gave me some "evidence of ongoing relationship".
Now my question is he has sent her thousands of dollars via Western Union. I am hesitent to include this because it doesn't really show a relationship, just that he sends her lots of money.
What do you all think?

His journey is a bit different, both have been divorced so I am including divorce papers (hers has been translated).
I did not have to translate anything with mine, and we have never been married before.

Thanks all for your help. If you can think of anything different with a Ukranian journey... let me know!

Oh so Lucky! I have TWC also but I guess St Lucia is too obscure to be inlcuded... its always the island in small print saying "except these countries"......

Ladies.... I just finished reading "Dancing Naked at the Edge of Dawn". It was such a GREAT book! About strong women and the steps and changes we all go through in life. Marriage, kids, divorce, love ... happiness. It was so good!
I think all the strong women in this group would like it.

Just in case anyone has the time to pick up a book! :-)
