Great pics Cat!! How is Louis handling the "cold"??? I see he is wearing long sleeves!

Yes it is a good thing I had a couple fleeces for him to wear. They are men's so he will wear them.
It isnt too bad though - I think he is acclimating pretty well.

Cute pics Irie. You both make a beautiful couple. And might I not forget...your daughter is beautiful especially as she is rocking that head wrap as Louis is. yes.gif

Check your PM!!

Well here is the thing.. I went to Maine college of Art. I live in a very Artsy community. There is alot of money in this area with B&W art pictures. I have a digital camera and use it all the time. I love it! But I also have a manual 35mm camera that I do film shots with. I have done some Sr pictures for people. Also portraits shots and sold some of my B&W shots that I have done myself. My film camera is actually very old and takes wonderful pictures, I have been offered some good money for it but I wont sell it. It was a gift when I started college. Now I have and an entire darkroom it just hasnt been set up since I had Tierra. I love being in a darkroom creating my photos, it is very rewarding.
In order to make good money I would have to use the digital but for Art shows and sales I would use my film/B&W shots.

That definitely sounds good!!

Maybe now Louis is here and you have more support you could do that on the side!!

I would love to see your stuff, do you have anything online?

Ok, now I sound just lazy.... LOL
I want to do a website with my photography but I am so not computer savvy like that.
I am making a list now ... "THINGS I HAVE TO DO!!"

I have to resolve to set up my darkroom/studio!!!

Girl, if you're talking about DARKROOMS, you have been out of the loop!!

To be honest, with the strides that have been made in digital technology, you would be ill-advised to get a film camera....And also, rather than set up a home studio, all you need is a space big enough to set up your background!!
Unless of course you have the extra space to spare!!!

Its funny, it feels like he has been here forever! :-) We lived together for a few months in St Lucia so it is about the same. My daughter went to my mom's on Saturday so we had a nice night in!! devil.gif
We are going to Portland for the SS# tomorrow and then he can get DL (well permit 1st - I have teach him to drive!) and also a joint bank account.

Louis is so lucky I love him! He sees me sitting here trying to figure out all this transcription stuff, I am asking him about papers the Embassy/Clinic gave him... He is like "I don't know", "I think they gave me something"!! So he calls back to SLU asking his brother to search for the papers.. getting all irritated with him cause he can't find... meanwhile I go in his suitcase and VOILA! I find it!

I always suggest waiting to see if you actually even need to see a civil surgeon. We copied Andre's shot records and sent them along with AOS. Worse case, we got a RFE. Then, I'd deal. Went through without a hitch and no interview. I know many who have waited and not needed to spend the money or the hassle.

That sounds like a good idea too. I am looking at this form the Embassy gave Louis. It is DS-2053. The only thing is Louis had to get 3 shots and I see nothing about the shots.

Louis can apply for SS# now... but he cannot work with it right? So really what is the point?

After we get married I apply for AOS... what about EAD? What and how do I do that?

I am so frustrated this is all like ALgebra to me!!?? UGH!

Thanks
Cat

For us, Andre had to be work authorized to apply for his SSN. It didn't happen till he got his green card.

You apply for the EAD, AP, and AOS all at the same time with the one fee. Just make sure to include the evidence for each seperately as they process them seperately. Of course, none of this can be done till you marry. Cart before the horse.

Thanks JG! I think the only reason for Louis' to get SS# now is to get his driver's License. They JUST (june 1st) past a law here that you need to have ss# to get a Maine DL.

Irie - did he get the work authorization stamp in his passport when he cleared immigration? I believe he needs that in order to get his SSN now. Otherwise you have to wait until you file AOS.

No he didn't get the stamp. I really won't have to go far to try for the SS#. From what I read he can get it now so if we get down to the office and can't - no biggie.
It just seems like the hard stuff is just beginning when it comes to paperwork. I will just need to take it 1 step at a time.

Good morning Everyone!

Tre - have a wonderful trip! Don't get too much stress piled on you! :-)

So I asked Louis what his favorite thing about being here and he said "Peace of mind".... He doesnt get too excited about much (or show it at least) but he says he likes it here... has met a few friends and likes them. It finally got warm yesterday and the sun came out. He didn't need his swetshirt.. t-shirt!! WOW! We went to a nice park by the ocean and he really liked it. Then a friend had a bonfire and we helped the kids catch fireflies... I think he was enjoying himself. He likes the chill family stuff. Oh and he did the dishes last night! Wahooo! :-) LOL

Anyway .. thanks again everyone for your kind words and I pray everyone's journey goes as smooth as mine has.

Now I have to worry about follow up vaccines and a wedding! biggrin.gif

My daughter has afternoon Kindergarten and she cannot wait for school today. She usually takes a bus to see all her friends but Louis and I have to driver her today... She has to show Louis off!! I know how you feel! My 6 year old (5 at the time) flew all by herself to FL from St Lucia last year and again to MD this past Thanksgiving. She is such a great traveler... she is a pro. But I really wish I didn't have to send her to her Father. I know she has fun for a little while and he wouldn't keep her (can't afford to!) But I would feel better with her right here with me.

Safe traveling to your son!

Happy Friday the 13th devil.gif Woo-ha-ha-ahhhhh.

Girl, it is truly Friday the 13th here. I live in DC and we had two fires in the Metro system that shut down a few stations for a few hours; a downtown power outage that knocked out traffic lights and traffic was a mess; three people were struck by cars because the traffic patterns were all messed up. All of this during morning rush hour. I was so tempted to turn back around and head home to curl up under the covers.

I work downtown and it has been a living nightmare today. All I want to do is go home, lock my door, have a bottle of wine, and not speak, see, or hear from anyone today. Tomorrow might be a better day.

Be Bless
Roxcie

One of my best girlfriends is a DC public school teacher.. Kenilworth.. I hate to know what kind of day she is having! LOL

Gooooood Morning Ladies! I am so excited ... just a couple days until Louis is here!! YAY

I have a question and a vent.

What is in that sealed envelope that he surrenders at Immigration? Just wondering.

Now, I just got off the phone with Louis. An aunt of his was telling him that once he gets to immigration they will make him go back to SLU when they find out he is here to marry a USC!! Can I tell you how effing annoyed I am!!?? People and family have been telling him since we first started this process that he will never make it... "you have dreds", "They don't let Lucians into the US", "you will never pass the interview"... people always trying to keep him down! It makes me so angry and then it makes Louis nervous!!! I told him that of course they know he is coming here to get married... ITS A K-1 VISA!!!!

You know once he gets here they will all be asking him to get them here too!!!

Oh, Gill.....you look so beautiful and happy. Congrats!

Tre.....remember what we talked about? Can you tell me who was bothering you? I got contacted today too.

Hi everyone....I'm at lunch in my conference right now. First time I checked the net since Sunday. God, I missed it. Missed you guys too. Tre is BEAUTIFUL and funny as hell. I loved her before and I adore her now. We had such fun. Wish it had been longer. We thought about doing dinner another day; but touring the city to keep Andre entertained has exhausted us. Next trip, I will definately be hooking up with her again. She's just so wonderful. You all need to meet her.

I have a picture to post when I get back. And, I made sure to take a picture of her eyelashes.....thankfully, they have all grown back.

Tre....after we saw you, we walked all over the dang place. We saw the Air & Space, National Geographic, and Natural History Museums this time. We went to Chinatown. And of course had to take a picture of the White House & Washington Monument again. I was nearly dead by the time we got back to the hotel yesterday. Wonder what Andre has planned for tonight.

I'm out again. See you all in a few days.

Glad that you and Lawny got to link up!

Did you get a chance to see the Rastafari exhibit in the Natural history Museum? That was hot! My boys loved the Air and space one too! I LOVE DC!! So much to do and it's FREE!!! We are going back down at the end of the month b/c my sister is taking my boys to FL. for 2 weeks and they are leaving from DCA! Plus it's West Indian Carnival the weekend we come down so Ken is looking forward to that!!

Glad to hear you had a good time JG!

Bless,
Gill

Oh I saw that exhibit my last trip to DC. I took a million pics to send to Louis! :-) I plan another trip down in the next few months with Louis this time and will have to hit it again!

JG - did you love DC? Was it your 1st trip? I miss it so much .. I just might have to move back one of these days!

Airfares are no joke - I am trying to book a trip to the Bahamas in September for a long weekend - It's DJ's birthday, and I thought it would be a nice treat for both of us - it's crazy what some of the flights are!

Forgot to add - I haven't even started pricing flights back to JA yet!

Sue,

I have been pricing flights to JA, they are now $600.00 to $1000.00, this is ridicules. How will the tourism business survive under all of this.

Roxcie

Do you fly into Kingston or Mobay? I saw US air had some flights to MBJ for 470 or so.

Hello Yardies...

I know it's been a while, but I got back from Jamaica safe and sound last night. I had a wonderful time with Ray and friends that went along with me this trip. Ray and I were both so sad that I had to leave and we both asked each other are you going to be ok? Are you going to cry? lol We both did really good only for me to come home to this.

Grrr....venting time....

I love my mother in law to death, get on really well with her, but some things she does PISS me the HELL off!!

She does this thing where when she come to take the baby from me, she doesn't just take him, she'll stand there calling him, just so he'll stretch his hands out to her. May be a small thing, but annoying as HELL! I mean, what is up with playing stupid games like that? Then, when she gets ready to give him back, she won't put him in my hands, she'll just stand there with him in her arms, wanting me to stretch my hands out to him so as to see whether or not he'll come to me. And she does it ALL the damn time!!!
About a month ago, I'd stretched my arms out to him and he didn't immediately LEAP into my arms, so she started saying to him 'Oh you want to stay with Grandma, don't you want to go to Mummy?'
SO last night, I just sat at the PC and told her to put him down on the ground when she was ready.
So, she kept saying 'take him, take him' because of course she wouldn't be able to play her silly games.
I'm a frigging 33 year old ADULT, not a child playing 'Let's see who he likes best'.
Of course, no way of proving any of it, but I'm not stupid.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Oh I can understand that would be so annoying! But you know what - your his mama and YOU know YOU are more important to him than anyone else. He doesn't need to reach his hands to you because he knows you will always be there for him whether he reaches or not! :-)

P.S.- I don't know if we touched on this yesterday...but Tuesday night I was even more proud to be an American!!! Wow, I honestly never thought I would live to see the day that a man of African descent would earn a nomination to be President of th U.S.A! Wow...that is definitely going to be a "Where were you when" moment for me! I'm not going to lie...I bawled like a baby...not for Obama...but because another opportunity just opened up for our sons to strive for!

OBAMA '08...I'm back on that grind!!! good.gif

Good Morning Gill! I can't wait to see wedding pics! I am glad to hear Mr likes NY... Louis will be here on the 14th and I am so excited. He is so calm and swears he will be fine. He has no problems leaving St Lucia and is so sure everything is going to be A-OK! I really hope he likes Maine - says he can't wait for our drives together (we always drove around St Lucia together)...

I was watching GMA this morning and Obama's family from Africa was on there and soooo happy for him. I was bawling myself, mind you I am always emotional, but amidst all the ####### going on in this world today this is so inspiring.
I have a lotus flower tattoed on my arm and the symbalism of it is very similar to how I feel about Obama becoming president....

A lotus flower grows in the dark mud of a pond and becomes a beautiful flower that cleans the water around it. I hope that Obama can clean all the "water around him" and become a great leader!

Good Morning Everyone!

About the sex toy thing... They are illegal in St Lucia!! Crazy!
Anyhow I think Louis is open to whatever...I also think he is a bit shy about it. I have jokingly said something about getting handcuffs and he answered me totally seriously like "OK"!! I figure that is something we will have to "discover" about each other... we have many years ahead of us I am sure a little "spice" will need to be added. devil.gif
Check out www.kamasutra.com. No toys really but some other fun stuff. The honeydust is soooo nice. When your SO kisses you on the neck, or wherever... it tastes like honey! wow.gif
Even if your man isnt into toys.. I am sure he would be up for a nice massage! LOL

I'm sorry Irie; I needed a good laugh. My best friend he's from St. Lucia I'll have to tease him about that. Talking about honeydust I used this thing once and let's say I looked like 100 bees stung my LIPS...took 3 days to go down.

Louis told me they are illegal! I think there are alot of conservative people on the island. Even Louis said he would NEVER go to a strip club. Not that I mind wink.gif

More good news! I bought the ticket for Louis ... very good price I might say for St Lucia! It is from UVF to Charlotte NC and then on to Manchester NH.. it will be nice not having to drive to Boston too.
Anyway, Lucky guy... gets 1st class for the flight from UVF to CLT! I didnt even realize until I was chosing seats!
I hope he doesnt expect this on every flight we may take in the future! LOL

Not sure if any of you use KAYAK.COM but my friend told me about it and I found this great flight!

Oh and on a AJ note... I still remember my Dad telling me about a flight to JA .. he said there was so much turbulence. Well the pilot was Jamaican and when he landed he came over the intercom .... "OOOOOOOIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE YES! WE LANDED SAFE MON"!
