I just went to my fridge only to find that one of my VJ friends "Richard-Joanna" had a Edible Fruit arrangement delivered to me. I am simply amazed at the type of people I have met on this board. It makes me know that there are good people out there and that I must be a pretty great person too to touch someone's life enough for them to take the time out of their day to brighten mine.

I know I'm rambling...but I am so choked up by the kindness a lot of you have shown me. I'm thankful for all the friendships I have developed behind the scenes...and each of you know how special you are to me. I wouldn't trade our friendships for anything.

You must be a wonderful person Jawi! That is so nice. Good to know you are feeling better! Good luck to you and you SO on the interview tomorrow!

I need a pick me up

My co-worker passed last night after a 6 month fight with cancer...why don't people go to the doctor when they don't feel well. She was always complaining she's tired, can't eat, no engry and I kept telling her to go to the doctor. In December she told me she lost 10bs in 2 weeks I told her that's not good, especially if you're on any diet or exercise program, something is very wrong. She went to the doctor that afternoon and she was admitted the next morning...aggressive lukemia

please ladies, if you're not feeling well, please check it out with your doctor. I did her nails and toes on Sunday and cleaned her house and she was joking around as usual calling me her Jamaican connection...

That is so sad, I agree about the Dr thing, some people are just stubborn and there isnt anything you can do. She is in a better place now. You are such a good person to spend time with her and do things for her. I am sure she was happy because of the love you showed.

I haven't posted on here in ages (my bad) but was part of the original thread that started about 4 years ago. I just wanted to share that there is hope that the visa journey can eventually come to an end.

This past Friday, 4 years and 4 days since my husband arrived in the US on his K-1 Visa, he was naturalized as a US Citizen. We are very excited and are happy to put the "journey" behind us. God bless everyone of you and your families and as always, let me know if you have any questions, I am always happy to help in any way that I can.

Take Care,

I have a crazy question: Would you be friends with someone who is into alternative sex lifestyles like swinging or S&M, etc??

It's really none of my business but I'm wondering if you treat or view them differently?

Oh my gosh! Its funny you ask that. Recently I found out that some co-workers are into that kind of stuff. Since we all telework from different states I dont see them that much but it is a bit strange.
I guess to each his own, whatever makes them happy and it doesnt really effect me.
I still like them. I don't treat them any different and they still do their jobs the same way.

As I think about it more I notice that most of the people I have found are into this are not real happy with their relationships (they are married people). I feel kinda bad for them. I know how happy Louis makes me and I can't imagine having to look elswhere for happiness.

Did you talk to the Dr?

I know when Tierra started daycare she had a runny nose for 2 years straight! (at least thats how it seemed)
When I would talk to the Dr he would say not too worry, its just daycare etc.. he is also a dad of 2 girls I think.

Now Tierra will be 6 on the 20th and she never gets all that sick KNOCK ON WOOD!

Anyone in the MD/DC/VA going to Crossroads this weekend? I think I'm going on Friday or Saturday because I need to get out...

Sunny, we need to hook up and do this one weekend, but I have a lot of family here from Jamaica that will stay with me for the next 5 weeks (LORD HELP ME)...girl pray that I don't kill one of them. My grandaunt got up 4 o'clock this morning making fritters and cooked my LUNCH. (I appreciate it), but....she wakes me at 4:30 asking me where is the clothes I'm wearing to work. So, I showed a blue pantsuit, she says, oh, no my baby-- u can't wear pants to work, what will they think. I said auntie it's 2008, I love, go back in the kitchen and finish cooking. She's 86 and I love her so much. Now, I have to find her some fish net sockings. She going to a function at Martin's Crosswind on Saturday. I haven't been able to find any. Any suggestions?

Is Auntie big or small?

You can get fishnets at Lane Bryant... or Kohl's I think.
Try Macy's or JC Penney... any big dept store should have the nice ones.

Hey Irie,

She's only 130lbs...I'm getting tired of looking. My grandaunt thinks she's in her 20s. She cracks me up. When I went home in November, when my fiance and I was going to visit my family, she pulls up on a BIKE back. Huging tightly to some youngman (one of my cousin). I won't even get on the back of a bike.

That is so great! My Grandma dies at 69 which is young ... but she still rode a Harley! :-) Big ole German grandma named Olga!

But I am sure you could find the fishnets at a dept store!

If I make the required amount of money do I still need a letter from the bank?
I belong to a Credit Union and do not get bank statements. Don't need them - do all my banking online.

What I have seen on this one is that it depends on the person who interviews you. On paper in the packet says one thing. One says another. Everyone on this entire site sticks by one opinion or the other. Everything is so mish mash on this issue. What I get out of everything I read on this very thread and on the entire site is that it all depends on the inviewer.

Always better safe then sorry.

I have a question - need some opinions.

I am putting together all the papers for Louis to bring to interview. I went through all my tax papers and have from 2002 - 2007 with 2005 gone missing!!?? I can't imagine where it has gone to (the W2). I have moved several times so it could be in a box in storage somewhere - who knows!!??
So I asked my employer for a new one and they say "it could take some time to get a copy" ...

What would you do? I have the paperwork from H&R Block - its just the actual W2 that I am missing. I have been working for the same company for over 10 years and have a letter from them saying that. (The affidavit letter).

Do you think this W2 is something I absolutey have to have?

Thanks!
Cat

You are going to have to call and get the tax transcript from the IRS. You especially need '05, '06, and '07.

Have her call on that and double check. There was a thread on here where someone asked the very same question because they got a 10 year green card after filing AOS. Turned out it was a mistake. They mailed them the 10 year GC; but had only a 2 year GC on the record. This person would've been out of status had they not checked and then filed for the 10 year.

That is exactly what I was thinking...probably read the same thread laughing.gif She definitely needs to look into it and make sure it wasn't a mistake...cause you all know the good old USCIS. Even if the mistake is on their end you are the one who will pay the consequences.

Yeah that is a big part of it. There is a big difference between staying home and watching the children every now and then or even for a few hours a day while the other person is working but it is completely different when staying home and watching the kids is your FT job and you don't do anything else. I think that is what gets most people (male or female) - they kinda lose themselves because they are home all day without much adult social interaction and a lot of people identify themselves through their jobs.

I AGREE! I have been teleworking since Tierra was born... 6 years now!

I go mad sometimes. Especially since coming back from St Lucia. I have no car and where I live there is no public transportation. I rely alot on my mom and friends. My friends know when it is time to get Catherine out of the house... I call them all crying!! LOL

hi guys do u think any of ur SOs would object to being a stay at home dad if need be if its cheaper than daycare? By the way what are infant daycare costs like and the times in which u can drop them off and pick them up.

I can't say this loud enough but YES, most jamaican men do not like to be at home, looking after pickney, even if it's theres. they want to work be out the house.

yup that was his response when i asked him. My thoughts were that it may be cheaper for him stay home. Its just a thought. Now if he gets paid like 11.75 im estimating at 40 hours a week that would give about 350 maybe? and that will only just cover daycare and we need a lot more than that im trying figure what cost i will cut to afford daycare and any other expenses right now i have no extra to cover that so i been praying on it and trying find a cheaper place to live.

did u price daycare where u are??? know any older ladies who want to supplement their income??? Is your mother near you she might know someone

When my daughter was in Daycare ... and I even found preschool this way ... I called churches. Both the churches that helped me happen to be Methodist but Church people know people.... They know the community.
Open the yellow pages and call and visit everyone you can.
When I moved back to Maine I cried and cried because I didnt think I could afford it. Even though I work at home I couldnt get work done with a wired kid running around. I eventually found some GREAT care.

You have to hunt the good ones down!

JG..it's not just prison tattoos but any tattoo that episode was an exaggeration, they usually want to know how long u've had the tattoo..tattoos that r older is more likely to have some mental in it..many ppl get MRI's with tattoos..MRI can be dangerous to anyone...

In JA u have to get ur tattoo from an "official" place not the yute round di corner

What exactly is in tattoo ink? Guess I never really thought about it.

Interesting that you think they used to metal in all tattoos long ago. Wonder why?

Yah, I'm not so sure Andre's are not from the local yute. The hands of his praying hands are kind of comical looking.

I have a whole bunch of tattoos .. they are addicting. And I never thought of what was in the ink. I always go to a reputible artist and clean shop etc...

So I googled "What is in Tattoo ink?"

The short answer to the question is: You can't be 100% certain! Manufacturers of inks and pigments are not required to reveal the contents. A professional who mixes his or her own inks from dry pigments will be most likely to know the composition of the inks. However, the information is proprietary (trade secrets), so you may or may not get answers to questions.

Most tattoo inks technically aren't inks. They are composed of pigments that are suspended in a carrier solution. Contrary to popular belief, pigments usually are not vegetable dyes. Today's pigments primarily are metal salts. However, some pigments are plastics and there are probably some vegetable dyes too. The pigment provides the color of the tattoo. The purpose of the carrier is to disinfect the pigment suspension, keep it evenly mixed, and provide for ease of application.

You could always just do a chocolate Martini..

I like a good ole dirty martini

Its hard to come up with good ones.

My old standby is Vodka, cranberry and sprite. If they have raspberry vodka even better.

Or vodka and redbull ( I like caffeine )

All this talk about booze - I may need tp break open the wine bottlle

I think we are going to the bar across the street from our house tonight to listen to a friend of a friend play some music.

Anyone know any unusual drink I can order that I probably havent' tried before?

Hmm, what kind of drinks do you normally like?

Beer, fruity... martinis?

I love a good espresso martini! Oh I want one now! :-)

Very, very, VERY light beer. AB has one called Beach Blonde---only one I truly like.

I like hot chocolate with a shot of butterscotch Schnapps and topped with whip cream.

Rum Cream, Banana Rum Cream, Amerula.

Very dry white wine.

straight shots of Tequila.

Margarita's are fine. Shell got me hooked on Mojitos too.

Amerula & Tequila are my drinks of choice.

I think I'd like to try some interesting concoction tonight.

BC I usually have a drink B4 leaving home I always end up with RUM punch....I went to this one place and had a screw-driver, I don't know what was in it but ie was nicccce. I'll have to get the ingred. 4U.

Oh Mojitos are gooooood!!!

I think you would like the espresso martini.
Martini glass with cocoa on the rim. Shot of espresso with Tia maria and baileys and absolut. (they make it different all over)
With a chocolate covered espresso bean or hershy's kiss in the bottom.

Straight shots of tequila... your a bad girl!! LOL

Chocolate tea sounds really good, Kimmy. Where do you get one of those?

I am craving Peanut Punch so bad. Been on my mind almost constantly for the last year.

I make cocoa tea with Vanilla Soymilk... probably not the traditional way!
With a little cinnimon and sugar.

I use a grater to get a fine cocoa dust and boil it all.

Good morning ladies,

Hope everyone has a good Friday. I'm so on this board and totally didn't realize there was a bombing here. i think it happened yesterday morning?? Ugh

I'm so glad I work closer to home now, it would still be a hike,, but i think i would just have to walk over one of the bridges and then I'd be good. and it is sad that i even have to think about stuff like this, but when looking for work, this is what i thought about, how long would it talk me to walk home... On 9/11 it took me three hours to wa;k home. but then i had no kids, now it's different.

I watch GMA every morning and saw about the bombing. I guy on a bike through a pipe bomb at the recruiting center in Times Square... It was yesterday morning at like 4am.

It is different with kids for sure.

I was pregnant and a mile from the Pentagon on 9/11 ... I was bawling all day. And then kept having crazy dreams where fighter jets and tanks were all over Alexandria VA! I am emotional as it is .. but pregant too... I was a mess!!!
