So I have a lil adjustment story for ya'll to start the week with:

As some of you know we have had a lil barber issue in that A keep saying he wouldn't go to a white barber. I took my son to the barber on Saturday but A still wouldn't sit in the chair. Well in the afternoon my daughter comes running in the kitchen dancing and grinning and said A wants to know if you want to cut his hair. I said I would be honored - I walk down to the bathroom and shout OMG!! He was bald!! Apparently he let Alexa cut his hair - WITHOUT THE GUARD on the razor. I said that is pure love if you let a 7 year old cut your hair!!

That is the cutest thing! Was he upset that he was bald??

I am pretty proud of myself.... I have tought myself how to twist Louis' dreads! I do just as well as the salon we pay $50 for them to get done. I asked Tierra if she wanted to try and with her little 7 year old attitude... "ew no!". LOL!

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you all had a nice weekend... the weather here was Perfect! We had a surprise party for Louis... and he was soooo surprised! It was great!!!

On another note... I keep checking the USCIS website to see if we have been "touched" and nothing since May 13th! Its killing me! Louis got his EAD and AP and then we got a NOA about transferring to CSC and now nothing! To me it seems like this is taking too long. When I read the USCIS timelines I don't really understand what it means.
Do you all think this is normal?

Thanks... and have a great MOnday!

beautiful! i love the color scheme
when i have a more formal ceremony i'd like to have something like that but on the beach instead of a garden

Thanks!
This was so informal! :-) I think total cost to me was a couple hundred $$! The reception was a gift also. I guess I am loved... :-)
In St Lucia Louis and I always went to the rivers... so now where we live the park down the street has a really nice river. We thought about beach 1st ... This all just fell into place.

I don't know if ya'll saw the thread about too many Co-Sponsors, but it has me stressing over money...

I was reading the thread by Valsu about his wife being in prison because he did not have the money to file for AOS...

My SO no longer has his job sad.gif
He is looking but ya'll know how it is...

So now the money for the K1 is going to be all on me, as well as the AOS fees since he will not be able to save like we discussed...

I make good money, but my expenses are high and most months it is paycheck to paycheck. I was saving 100 a month for the K1 and was ok there... I guess if I keep up the $100 a month savings we will be okay...

I am just freaking about the money...

crying.gif

This process noh easy at all... no0pb.gif

I feel you! It looks like a make pretty good money on paper... But just when Louis got here, they cut everyone's pay at my company. Somehow we have made it work. I got sooooo much help from my family. Its a good thing they all like Louis! :-). For wedding presents my friends all gave money. They know what we are going through and that helped with AOS.
I stress every day about money! I am not good with it at all. We are making a budget this weekend. It is so hard! I wish Louis could take it all over but he isnt comfortable with that just yet.
Try not to let it get to you too much, stress can make everything else in your life bad! Don't freak out. It will work out! Saving $100 a month is pretty good to me! good.gif

LOL laughing.gif

We were going to wait awhile until A was more settled before bringing Jr up but Jr has been having a really hard time since A left, which has made it hard on A as well. He commented about how he didn't have a mom or a dad there.... my heart breaks easily when it comes to kids so I said go for it! He hasn't seen his mom for 7 years so he will be spending some time with her this summer.

BTW, I was talking about you last night in case your ears were ringing. blush.gif There was discussion about Michael Jackson's kids being biologically his or not because of their coloring and A refused to believe that a mixed child could look like the white parent. So I had to bust our your family pic and show him!!

Look at my daughter too! She has blue eyes! Yankee... I think our daughters have the same coloring...
When Tierra came out... I swear in my head.. I was like "who's white baby is this?" I had dreams she was coming out with afro puffs... in bows and everything! LOL

But I dont think those kids are Michael's ....

Whatever happened to that, Tre? Did that person just go away?

I am totally serious. I have this woman quoting me from stuff I said on FB. I had to shut down classmates and FB to all outsiders. I have her showing up at places and screaming at me in front of lots of people. I have seen her driving by my house (after having someone on police dept. track my address) and other places I am. I have her calling me all sorts of names via the phone and texting. She knows my usual Saturday hang out....pretty sure that will be where the confrontation will be eventually. My friend, Daniel, says let her hit me and then file assault charges and get a restraining order.

And, that's just me. You should see what she does to people she really hates!!!! He's taking a much worse punishment, along with his guy friends.

Can't you get a Restraining Order without her hitting you? Has she threatened?

No plans as of yet, just thinking it is way past time for a good drunken night

Anyone else got some good ones?

I start tomorrow. We are going out on one of our smaller rivers on a boat for some fishing, waterboarding, and swimming on a private beach all day.

Friday, I have to work. Then, hitting our city-wide fair for a free concert under the Arch from my favorite band in the whole world (Counting Crows, in case you are interested.) Fireworks display after.

Saturday is open at this point. Thinking another free concert (Train) and fireworks display under the Arch or going out to the county to their fair and free concert (Sister Hazel) and fireworks. Or, we tossed around fighting the crowds and heading back out on river.

Sunday is a softball tournament all freakin' day and then regular session games at night.

And, I wonder where my weekends go????????

That all sounds so fun... Oh and Sus you can come up and get drunk with us!! We will be with my friends family and all her aunts make drunk a$$ fools out of themselves all the time!! LOL

I have Thursday off so we are going out to Peak's Island (island in Casco Bay, off Portland) and chillin' at friends cottage. Hopefully the rain will clear THREE WEEKS OF THIS ####### IS DEPRESSING!! and we can get out and have some fun. Booze and reggae! :-)

And no I am not on your side. Children are a blessing and it is the best thing that has happened to me in my life....you are going to kick yourself that you waited to long once you have one. You will never know the love you can have for someone until you have a child. IMHO

How long would you say is too long? I'm thinking to wait until 30 (3 yrs), but Steven wants me to have one yesterday. Perhaps it's because people rather talk about the bad (unordinary) than the good (ordinary), but every coworker that has kids talks about the amount of money kids cost & the restrictions on travel they have with young kids.

Money is a factor for sure! It is expensiveto have a child. I want to have another and so does Louis. But I do not have health insurance right now so it is out of the question. When I had Tierra my company paid 100%.
I go through alot with my daughter but I wouldnt give her up for ANYTHING! And I traveled everywhere with her. It is only harder now that she is schoolage. Before we could get up and go anytime.

Only you will know when the "right" time is. When it feels right, when everything comes together.

When she has a job and can pay for it herself!

I don't even use a cell phone. I have a prepaid one for when I go on trips/long drives or whatever but that all I use it for.
If my daughter was going somewhere and had a good reason for needing one then I would let her get a pre-paid as well.

Ur kidding right Irie? No cell phone? I don't remember life without it. My mom worked for the cell phone company from when they were car phones. I didn't get my own until college though. But that was the time when it was billed by the minutes at first.

Wow, Irie, I really admire that. I don't know why but this is one thing that going to Jamaica so often has taught me....the simple life. Everytime i get back here from Jamaica I ask myself why do I need all this stuff? why do i work so much? why do i spend my life running my kid around and running errands and running around like a chicken with my head cut off? just busy busy busy and never appreciating any of it. Jamaica and my husband have taught me to just relax and enjoy life....

Living in St Lucia for 6 months did the same thing to me. Although I did have a cell there! Had to... no land line. But I was so happy... and I really didnt have many posessions. Tierra and I had a 1 bedroom apartment. Near the beach and we would take the bus everywhere. We had so much fun and I didnt want for much!

to be honest I don't know what the hype is with a child having a cell phone, I didn't have one and my parents knew where I was. I don't think it's a necessity. It's a damn shame to read about a 7 or 8 year old who has to have carpal tunnell surgery or has arithis in their fingers due to texting or playing video games (another thing that pisses me off)....on let the X-BOX baby sit your child, damn, I'd rather be outside runining up and down the side walk or riding my bike.

I AGREE!!! Thats another thing we dont have... video games. Last time I had a video game it was ATARI! That was at my dad's when I was little! Now its the same for Tierra. She gets to play Wii at her dad's for the month she is there.
I bought her a nice bike for her birthday. Thats her favorite thing..to just be outside and getting dirty! I know she has had a good day when (as my mom would say) you could plant potatoes under her fingernails! tongue.gif

One of my friends, who I love to death, has gone through a lot in the past few years (break up of her marriage, etc...) - Her drinking has gotten increasingly out of control - I have spoken to her about it in the past, and she got mad at me - It's not fun to go out with her, cause she can't keep it in control, which means we play babysitter -

Now, Sunday afternoon, we were all out watching the band - I knew she was getting drunk, so I left right when the band started - Another friend of ours emailed me - She ended up driving her home because she found her puking in the alley by the restaurant - Not only that, she was hitting on someone's boyfriend, went off on the band, telling the drummer that he's an f****ng whiteboy who knows nothing about soca, was rude to the waitress and bartender,........... and much worse -

What would you do?

I have a friend going through seperation, maybe divorce as well. She is 37, but acting like 22 again. Drinking too much, hanging out with people that have a bad influence on her and just being irresponsible. She is one of my best friends though... I have straight out told her when I think she is being immature and irresponsible. She listened but did nothing about it. Until some of those so called friends came back to bite her in the a$$. They used her to pay for drinks, rides etc....
I would agree with not hanging out with her until she figures it out herself. You were right to leave!! Hopefully she wont end up more self destructing. Maybe you and your other friends should "boycott" her and tell her exactly why you are doing it. Hearing it from everyone may help. She may get mad at you, but you trying to help her out of the situation would be the best thing. You wouldnt want to end up saying "I should have done more"....

i disagree with this. she needs you now more than ever...

Your right Finesse ....Maybe I should have said, boycotting going out with her. Of course let her know you are there for her, but you dont want to be in the situation where she is drinking and acting a fool

on a serious note, this exact thing happened to my best friend. she got divorced and went through some tough times. then she started drinking more and more and acting so ridiculous. she would get so wasted that she did not remember a thing that she did. last summer, she got really drunk and got into an altercation with her ex-husband over the kids. she stabbed him in the chest and she is now doing 9 years in prison. I just wish there was something more I could have done to intervene on her drinking...

I had to remind her that I paid for her lunch...and I don't like having to do that. Maybe because when I borrow..I'm knocking people out of the way to get to ATM to pay you back.

I can't wait to go home in August, I bring back so much seasonings when I go home. My stash from last year is almost done, so it lasted a little over a year. Damn, wonder if they'll look at me crazy if I bring back 2 dozen hardough bread from Captain's Bakery again and 2 boxes of patties and cocobread.

so they dont have a store w/ them where u live or is it they dont' taste the same?? i think a yardie said that b4..

i don't know if ours were good or not.. he didn't say.. the guiness tho he says is not as strong..

Louis hates the Guiness here too! And they dont have Piton beer... so he doesnt have a whole lot of choices! Heineken it is!

Ladies... I have a question. Now that Louis has his GC our next step will be Removing conditions. If the card says it expires June of 2011 I file 90 days before that right? Does it have anything to do with our wedding date?

What Finesse said. Keep in mind, it is 90 DAYS....NOT 3 months.

Gotcha! Thanks....

I swear I feel like one of the world’s worst mothers. I never miss my kids.... unsure.gif When I hear you ladies talk of missing yuh pickneys and crying when they leave I swear I look at me like ####### why don’t I ever get emotionally. I be looking for places for my trolls to go like see yuh momma loves yuh as I'm shoooing them out the door.

She can get on my last nerve when she is here, but when she is gone... I get all emotional. I just don't want her to have too much fun at her dads!! wink.gif

Nat I thought the same thing, my original date was in june. Then I thought about getting to know each other on a living together level first and I think thats what the govt had in mind as well when they came up with K1 and the 90 days "trial period". I am gonna be completely honest with you because I believe we are all here to help each other out in any way throughout this whole process. We argue ALOT and i mean over stupid stuff. Some of it is me i must admit I am 30 years old and have never lived with a man before so I am very private and cant stand anyone telleng me what to do or being in my personal space. Some of it is him, he has a very short temper and is kind of selfish. We are happy at the end of the day but trust me it is a loooooong day. I have prayed on it and will continue to use God as my only mentour because if it was up to family and friends we would have broken up a long time ago and I would be devastated.

My advise is use that time to get to know each others living habits, likes, dislikes, what pushes each others buttons and what doesnt break your relationship will only make it stronger. One day at a time.

(((Lovesponge)))

Did the two of you argue before he got here? Did you argue on the phone or when you were in JA?

For some reason this relationship is different for me... My Ex and I fought from very early in our relationship and we kept fighting through the 3 years we were together. He would say things that totally went against everything I felt in my soul. When I finally decided to leave him it was like a ton of bricks was lifted off me.

I refuse to live my days fighting... I have been single for 3 years because of that...

From the day I met this man we have agreed... we agree on so many important things.. child discipline, religion, politics, saving money...
When he talks about how to handle a situation it always resonates with me. He speaks the words in my heart, he has from the day we met.

I just don't know what we would argue about unsure.gif

I would love to hear from people like KK & Irie. Couples who have come a long way from the 90 days...

Did you get married right away?
Did you fight a lot at first? (I understand the adjustment can cause added pressure)

I lived in St Lucia for 6 months when I met Louis. We had alot of time to spend together. We may have had a couple disagreements but never an argument. I would get frustrated because of he was never ontime for things.. but I got over it... I was in St Lucia and happy and it felt like I was on permanent vacation. Not alot of stresses..... Tierra wasnt in school yet (went to daycare) and things were cheap!
I went back again for a couple weeks before the interview. We were always in a good mood, happy happy! Then during the waiting process.... still happy. I couldnt think of a reason why we wouldnt get along when he got here....
Then he got here. We would argue a little. I had so many more stresses. Tierra was in school, I am paying a much higher rent... I had to take of the 3 of us now and I wanted everyone to be happy. We waiting 2 months to get married. I wanted him to settle in a bit and I wanted it to be a nice summer day when we married.
Now when we argue it is mostly about my daughter. She is a spoiled American girl... but again... we will get over all that. Its been almost a year now and we get over little bumps all the time.
I am a stressful person, I like things clean and taken care of. I worry alot... Louis is the opposite. So we have some compromising to do... and I am sure it will happen.
