OK..TOPIC

every one that had children in a previous relationship

Is ur current relationship the 1st one after u separated from ur ex? why are they "concerned". Don't get me wrong. I would be a maniac too if my children all of a sudden have another woman in their lives to confuse the heck out of them in regards to mommy and daddy relationship.. BUT do u guys see where I'm going with this?

I may have dates a few guys but my daughter never met them. My daughters father HATES Louis.. but it is all jealousy. Louis gets to spend more time... blah blah. I can say some of the problems btween my daughter and Louis stem from her father. He questions her about stuff (asked if Louis touches her!!) Also told her Louis will never be her real dad... all that. Tierra gets very confused...
On the other she has a stepmom that I get along with. We can talk when I have a concern. I also let Tierra know she can love us all the same. That should should respect Stepmom and Louis equally. She should listen to us all becuase we love her and want her to be safe.

Its hard when it is one-sided! But I think Tierra's dad's "concern" is selfesh! He doesn't want Tierra calling anyone else daddy.
I might be crazy but I dont mind if Tierra calls step-mom "mom".. I know who I am!

I GOOGLED Visa info and found it. Wanted to do this whole thing without a lawyer...
I think I posted a question and someone from the Yardie Thread invited me over. Maybe ForeverYoung or Lawny. Not alot of "Lucian Luvahs" on VJ. :-)

Irie, I may have missed it, but which order does Louis follow

Bobo, Nyahbinghi or Twelve tribes

In St Lucia there are alot of Rasta's but not real strict like some in Jamaica. I would say he most relates to the Twelve Tribes. He is spiritual and tries to be a good person. But he drinks rum! If you were to read about a true Rasta, they dont drink, just smoke the herb. He doesn't gamble, would never go to a strip club etc... he has real respect for women. I like that. His Rasta friends refer to him as "Levi", the tribe for June.
I sure wish he had some Rasta friends here to gather with.... his closest "bredren" is in VA Beach.

Irie; most West Indian men do not want their woman to cut their hair. My husband don't like short hair, but I cut it, like it can't grow back. He doesn't like makeup either, so vaseline on my lips do just fine.

what is the big damn deal about it? i have long hair and have been wanting to cut it for awhile just for a change and my husband says he hates short hair...and is so serious about it...acts like I would be cutting off an arm or something..

With Louis its a Rasta thing... not supposed to put "tools" or whatever to your hair. His ex was a stylist and she would have weaves and different color hair and stuff.. he didnt like it but put up with it cause he liked her. So if I really wanted to ... what could he do, he still loves me. Even the tattoos... not real "Rasta" of me but that me.. and he loves me!

yep, we always want what we don't have.. crying.gif u outta try and perm it so u can have it curly.. no scissors LOL did u always eat rasta style or did it take getting used to?? does ur daughter eat like that too

I was a vegetarian for 8 years out of HS, then moved to VA and started eating meat again... I WAS HUNGRY! LOL ... then when I met Louis went back to veg. It is easier now and I like tofu and soya and all that stuff. I do eat eggs and Louis doesn't. He has alot more to choose from here in the states also. He has gained 3 inches on his waist since getting here. He TRIES to tell me I shrunk his pants!
I let Tierra eat what she wants... but I buy healthy alternatives. She eats chicken and fish but doesnt like red meat anyway.

OMG... look at my pics on FB there are some old ones of me... covered in make up and I used to get perms all the time in High School. I was a "big hair" girl! I dont think I could do all that teasing and hairspray anymore... maybe for Halloween!

but w/ 2 years past they are sooo much better, they are cool w/ the IDEA.. lets just see how long it takes for them to get comfortable w/ the real deal..

Hi Quana-
I have a 7 year old and I didn't leave her with him right off the bat. But since school has been out she has been at camp Hubby and they are having a great time. I think it is really good for them to spend time with just the two of them so they can bond and get to know each other too without me in the way. This way they can work out their differences and come together on things too. This week has been great...Monday they rearranged her room and yesterday I came home to a clean house even the basement. Camp Hubby is working out great. LOL! You just have to do what the kids are comfortable with. If she wasn't comfortable with it I would have made other arrangements.

That sounds so nice! My daughter is 7 also. I think Louis needs to be more "fun".... She would love to do that stuff with him. I am going to use your story as example! :-)

sus/Irie; I was so proud, but the Jah Rastafari, caught me off guard...after he said thank you he told the audience he'll be in Jamaica for a month in August. So, all the students were like ooooooooooooo.

He wanted me to explain the 12 tribes to him, but I had a memory block.

The 12 Tribes is a few things... a "spinoff" so to say of the Rastafarian religion. Bob Marley belonged to the 12 tribes at his time of death. They beleived all races/sexes should be treated equally. They gave more rights to women, treated them better. For instance a woman isnt isolated while on her period.

the 12 tribes also signify the 12 sons of Jacob. They coinside with the 12 months of the year too. The Tribes are Reuben,Simeon,Levi,Judah,Dan,Naphtali,
Gad,Asher,Issachar, Zebulun ,Joseph and Benjamin.

I am sure there is so much more... but that what I know off the top of my head.

when are ya'll headed back to St lucia?

We are hoping to go for New Years.. both have the time off ok, but 3 tickets are around $2500 right now and that is just not feasable at the moment! And we cannot stay with moms, cause she just has a little shack with no running water and no room really. We can find a cheap guest house no problem but we have to save for car, food etc.... I am saving all my pennies and hoping for Christmas Cash! LOL

He doesnt call her... but she is bugging me! She knows he is married!!! WTH does she think he is going to do??? Leave me for her old azz?? WHat would you all do? Send her a message, call her? I want to message her and tell her she needs to stop... but I don't want to step over any boundaries.

I was thinking about moving us down to GA (savannah) this summer but changed my mind... Louis thinks I am nuts. Now I can't say I like the snow but the rest of the year here in Maine is beautiful! I lived in DC,VA,MD area for 10 years.... daughter was born in VA. But now she is in the BEST school system in Maine.
Louis has a friend in Norfolk area and thinks thats where he wants to go... not sure I want to. Not sure I want to sacrafice Tierra's education. I know Louis left his fam and friends behind in SLU but no sure I can do that again.
I think in a couple years when he can get citizenship... we will just move back and forth from ME to St Lucia. Would like to open a guesthouse in SLU. I can work from anywhere ( I telecommute) but wherever we go Louis would have to find a job again. I try to tell him we should stay here and he can further his education and then move on...
I like change but it is hard to make that 1st step...

Hey irie cat, long time no see ( waving) i saw others giving you congrats so i will follow suit.

how is that pretty daughter of yours doing? hope things are going well for you and louis.

Hi! Thanks! I can't wait to get the letter now... wanna see what it says!

Tierra is doing ok, spoiled as usual! She is SO BIG! Going to be in the 2nd grade next year - new school. Our school district here has a school with K and 1st, then Elementary has 2 - 5. So when she was "little" she isnt with the bigger kids...
Louis and I are good - already like an old married couple! LOL...

Hope all is good with you too!

hi yardies

that's heart breaking my2
you must feel helpless

i do and i dont like not being able to make her feel better.. but she is a strong girl and very mature so im sure we will get through this..

You both will, but I know the feeling. Last year, when my mother-in-law passed in Jamaica, we were all at a water park and my husband started crying after he got the phone call. My son asked him why he was crying and my husband told him that his mom just died. My son was 5 at the time and he gave my husband a hug and told him it's okay, you can share my mommy that way you won't be said. I just started to bawl... I don't know, but children are a lot stronger (emotionally) than we think they are.

Oh my gosh! That is too sweet, gets me all teary reading it.
Kids can say just the right things sometimes and they always know when a hug is needed!

My2, you should make sure you get the twin's address. I am sure it would make them feel good if your daughter kept in touch.. letters, pics...

I have a spreadsheet linking the FB names with the VJ names. (No comments, Philly)

Nat,

LOL! Can you send me a copy of THAT list?

I want more FB Friends!! biggrin.gif

You can add your VJ name as a name people can search you by....

How is he liking it here so far T?

Good so far - other than no "good" food, no domino tables on the "block", and no music playing at every corner. On Saturday we were outside and the kids were in the pool so I had the music cranking from the car so he was grinning about that - chatting about a beach party in yard. blink.gif But I heard him singing along to some hip-hop music.

Oh Louis' misses dominoes also! We got a set and teach everyone how to play... he has a couple hooked!
Only problem...no swearing, drinking and SLAMMMMMMING the tiles down on plywood tables! tongue.gif

Good morning!!! Time to focus on work this morning.

You're right about that! Since I was out sick on Friday, I had extra messages to take action on & respond to.

IrieCat, how did you teach yourself to do that? My SO plans to lock it up, too, and I'd love to save money by doing it myself.

Well I think it might be easier with Louis' hair.. it goes down to his butt now!
I watched the lady at the salon do it, then watched a friend do it for him while we were in DC....

When his hair starts growing he gets a fuzzy afro on top and it looks messy, so we tried to make an appt and they lady was gne for 2 weeks. (you don't get many "black hair salons" in Maine... so I tried it for myself. Louis likes beeswax so that is what I use. (bought in DC). I gather the growth and twist it into the locks pulling the hair back in clips or a pony tail as I go. then when I am done he keeps in a tight pony for a couple days with a bandanna over it when he sleeps!

Jeesh - he is more high maintenence than me! LOL

Ok...been having some behavioural issues with my 8 (soon 9 year old)
Been asking for some alternative punishments and my co workers have suggested

making him stand in the corner
making him do yard work for neighbours
making him eat unsweetened oatmeal for dinner
standing in the corner arms outstretched with a can of beans in each hand

Can anyone else suggest some legal and effective punishments??
I have been taking him toys and games away, making him stay in his room, to no avail. So will try these, but would love to hear some more!

Tierra is 7, but I have some issues also. I must admit I have spanked, but that never worked... so I stopped.

She is old enough to be grounded. She is a social butterfly. So I take away "playdates" for a week. That actually helped!
She also likes to ask for a couple bucks and go to the corner store. I have taken that away for a week also.
These little things help becuase they are her favorite things to do.

I have also made her stay home when I go to the store or to run errands. Sounds silly but she loves going with me so it really hurts her when I don't let her.

I must say making her stay in her room wouldnt work because all her stuff is in there. Make him stay in the kitchen or something! Somewhere boring!

So I have a lil adjustment story for ya'll to start the week with:

As some of you know we have had a lil barber issue in that A keep saying he wouldn't go to a white barber. I took my son to the barber on Saturday but A still wouldn't sit in the chair. Well in the afternoon my daughter comes running in the kitchen dancing and grinning and said A wants to know if you want to cut his hair. I said I would be honored - I walk down to the bathroom and shout OMG!! He was bald!! Apparently he let Alexa cut his hair - WITHOUT THE GUARD on the razor. I said that is pure love if you let a 7 year old cut your hair!!

That is the cutest thing! Was he upset that he was bald??

I am pretty proud of myself.... I have tought myself how to twist Louis' dreads! I do just as well as the salon we pay $50 for them to get done. I asked Tierra if she wanted to try and with her little 7 year old attitude... "ew no!". LOL!
