When I got home from the baseball game today, I did my 3 usual checks for USCIS news: mail, email, & USCIS case status website. Seeing nothing there, and hearing how all my other long-waiting December filers are being approved this week, I called the number & used the secret code Roxie told me.

The lady told me that they're processing cases from December 23 today. Then she asked for my receipt number, and I heard quite for a long time. "Hello?" "I'm still here." Then she goes "Well, I have good news. YOUR APPROVAL WAS SENT OUT TODAY." I started screaming/crying/talking. She kept trying to tell me about NVC & blah blah blah. But I was on my approval high and didn't hear a word she said!

Praise be to God. JUST yesterday, Steven told me that he got the passport pictures which was the VERY last thing we needed for the medical/interview. After he said that, I pointed up and said "We're ready! The next step is on You!" Then, today, NOA2!!

WONDERFUL news! YAY! Congratulations to you both!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif

Okay, I just realized that it has been way too long since I cooked, cause I burnt the hell outta an onion!

On a good note - my cousin still had my brownin sauce and grace ketchup in the fridge!

How did you do that Sus??

For some reason that made me think of a tip I learned on a French cooking show on PBS. The chef cut an onion and put it cut side down into a pan until it was blackened. Then he put the entire onion into his beef soup base and said that the reason to blacken the onion is because it gives the broth a nice brown tint that actually doesn't come from the beef.

I just made some yummy macaroni pie... peas, corn, red peppers.. it turned out Rasta! LOL... goes well with a BOTTLE OF WINE!

NOoo this can't be true !!!!! So what are you ladies trying to tell me that guy I met on the beach who after talking to him for 20 minutes he told me I was his sole mate and that he could see himself marrying me. He asked me what type of wedding wanted and all so I told him and awww it was so magical.

I told him I was there with my family and he told me to go get them he wanted to meet dad and mom… I was so happy that I met the love of my life and I was about to get married again I asked him to wait right there while I went to get my dad…

OK..so some of u ladies here are with a Rasta man. From my understanding a real rasta man wouldn't be with anyone but his Black African Empress...is that so..and are ur SOs true rastas?

Well, Louis would say he is a "true" Rasta for sure. I am the 1st white girl he was ever with. People gave him a hard time about.. got lots of yells from people on the road when we were driving etc...
But people like his uncle, who is Rasta, accepted me, that was all that mattered to Louis. He calls me "sister" and "empress" and all that... it always makes me smile.

I'm going to do my research I have a great Rastafarian Book that I have started and will find out which tribe has the least strict guidelines for Ital food. I think we can do this good.gif It will be healthier for everyone, also better for my pockets my grocery bill is off the chain and I am a coupon and comparison shopper blink.gif

That is the best part! Grocery bills tend to be lower than when I was eating meat... but Veg Organic can be a bit expensive. This time of year though we have Great farmer's markets.

Tierra eats what she wants. :-)

That's great, I asked because my Husband knows how I struggle with my weight and always changing my eating habits. also since he has been here he as gained 20 lbs! he is 6'5 but he now has a gut LOL. He said he wanted to cut out all of the meat and just eat healthy. I was raised vegetarian by my Mom but when I was out of the country either in Haiti or JA I ate everything and anything except pork (we both did ) LOL. So when I became a I distanced myself from the strict vegetarian diet and that is when everything when sour and I developed truly bad eating habits! Soooo I say all of this to say, I brought up an Ital diet to him and he agreed he could follow it but when we truly researched the book last night it is extremely strict, no salt, no chemicals, no flesh, no blood, no whites oil and meat. Fish must be less than a foot long. No shell fish or fish without scales. Rastafarians never cook in aluminum pots as it is said to leave traces of metal in the food that can get in your body and cook only in a clay pot.

Does your Husband follow the strict Ital diet or does he improvise at all?

MY Mother is Rasta but she does not follow the diet strictly and she just started my Hubby's locs and so now he wants to wants to embrace the Rasta lifestyle. I know I can do it because It wasn't hard being a vegitarian, but Ital is extremely strict.

Louis isnt all that strict.. but NO MEAT for sure. No eggs, no mayo... My mom always makes him special "treats" with soy milk and no eggs.
No Chemicals is how I buy stuff anyhow.. organic. Thats not so hard.
We don't cook in aluminum (my mom & dad always said that was bad anyhow), but I dont have a clay pot for cooking on the stove! tongue.gif
Louis does like saltfish (so do I) so that is an every once in a while kind of thing.

Really - we stick to all natural, organic foods. In a perfect world I would have more time to cook better. I love to cook, would love to take an Ital cooking class if I could find one. That would be fun.
Louis has more choices here in the states for good organic vegetarian stuff. So he has put on a few pounds (I LOVE IT)

Louis has had his locs for 9 years or so. I guess I would do it if I knew it would look good. Can your mom do locs on a white girl with REALLY STRAIGHT HAIR! haha!
There is a place in Canada that specializes in locs, particularly on "white" hair. it would cost me $500... I was thinking 1 of these years I would surprise Louis and do my hair as an anniversary surprise.

I see Louis and I living in the St Lucia hills when we retire.. gardening and living "natural". Sometimes I think about it and would love to take Tierra and head there now...

I think it is fairly easy. As long as you can "prove" you will go home.
We would like Louis' mom to come for a visit but that probably wont happen, so we will wait till we can get her here for good.
SHe is not in good health, owns no land and doesnt work.

Also, there is no Embassy in SLU so you have to go to Barbados to get a visa.

Shemmy- I went to Carol's Daughter today for lunch. Got the sunning oil or whatever it's called ...and more Minsoa Hair Honey.

I smell like the oil now...because of the tester...lol...

I am a few pages behind now.. went to parent/teacher thing..

But I bought some Carol's daughter stuff for my daughter's hair. I love the smell of their prducts. Wish I could by it locally and not order things.

I wanted to tell you all how happy I am to be posting here again. I can totally air stuff out with no judgement and get some good feedback! :-)

On another note... I DONT WANT TO WORK! I am bored, restless, hungry! I wanna get outta the house! Finally got my car back this morning and am looking forward to errands. I have a meeting at school this afternoon with Tierra's teacher.. we get to go over her "portfolio" :-)
I get to see all the things she learned this year and Tierra gets to "run the meeting".

Can it be 3:30 yet??

I have to say T's dad was jerk. I really didnt think I could do better.. he was tall, gorgeous. I didnt have much in the way of self esteem. But my getting pregnant wasnt planned. But I was in a place where I could afford having the baby, and in my heart I knew I wanted it. I knew my relationship with her dad wouldnt last. We didnt get married, thank goodness.
"All things happen for a reason", applied to me here... Tierra gave me the strength to get the heck out. And now I have Louis! I truly beleive all the events of my life have led up to where I am now. And if I didn't go down the path I did I wouldn't yet have met Louis. :-)

OK..TOPIC

every one that had children in a previous relationship

Is ur current relationship the 1st one after u separated from ur ex? why are they "concerned". Don't get me wrong. I would be a maniac too if my children all of a sudden have another woman in their lives to confuse the heck out of them in regards to mommy and daddy relationship.. BUT do u guys see where I'm going with this?

I may have dates a few guys but my daughter never met them. My daughters father HATES Louis.. but it is all jealousy. Louis gets to spend more time... blah blah. I can say some of the problems btween my daughter and Louis stem from her father. He questions her about stuff (asked if Louis touches her!!) Also told her Louis will never be her real dad... all that. Tierra gets very confused...
On the other she has a stepmom that I get along with. We can talk when I have a concern. I also let Tierra know she can love us all the same. That should should respect Stepmom and Louis equally. She should listen to us all becuase we love her and want her to be safe.

Its hard when it is one-sided! But I think Tierra's dad's "concern" is selfesh! He doesn't want Tierra calling anyone else daddy.
I might be crazy but I dont mind if Tierra calls step-mom "mom".. I know who I am!

He used to live in MD then moved to Florida... so now we are FAR away! I think it would be easier sometimes if we were closer. Then daddy's house wouldnt be this magical place that is full of presents when she gets there.

that is too sad irie.. does ur ex live close???
mine does some of the same.. he asks a million questions and tells them all kinds of nasty things about my friends, not only Roger.. and tells them not to talk to them and if i bring them around ppl he doesn't approve of for them to call him..
luckily my girls know all this is pure phockery.. they know their daddy doesnt mean it and he is just still angry about our family not being together anymore..
and just like u... he has a girlfriend..i hve never said a bad word about her, i also encourage the kids that i will be ok and the can have fun w/ her and their daddy w/out worrying about hurting me.. WHY OH WHY cant he do the same.. i really wish all 4 of us could get along and be there for our kids.. it could be sooo easy but they make it sooo hard..

and it makes it very hard for our SO..i know roger gets angry at the phockery that goes on, but he knows i am trying to keep peace.. but i know he won't be able to keep seeing and hearing the mess that goes on.. i try not to tell him too much

Irie - I hate for any parent to do that to a child...it PISSES me off! This was one of the reasons I stayed with me EX so long after my son was born, because I didn't want my son to go through that...but in the end I was suffering and I couldn't deal with it anymore.

I left Tierra's dad when she was 3 months old. He tried to KILL me when I was 9 months pregnant. I stayed long enough to make a plan and get the hell out. His wife now is a different kind of person than me. We talked about it once... she told me he tried to put his hands on her and she kicked his ####! I don't know how she did it! LOL .. but more pwer to her!

The touching questions and ####### make me so mad. After she stays in July this year I am going to "reasses" things. If I have to go through the reprogramming again I am going to have to go back to court. I want T to be able to see her dad, she misses him, but this family can only take so much!

I have to do the same thing, if he's with his father for more than a week. My son goes to bed at 8pm I don't care if you're sleepy or not, you better be in your bed. I don't let him watch music videos or movies with cussin in it. The first time I heard my son say sh*t, I damn near fainted. I don't curse in my house, sometimes I might slip and say damn, but that's about it. After he gets back from his dad he's wants to do whatever and I'm not having that. His father also tells him that he's not to listen to my husband because that's not his dad and he can do whatever he wants. See, my EX was never punished by his mom, so he's a mummah bway rass spoiled bratt

Is your ex from MD? Maybe its in the water! wink.gif
They sound related!

OK...WOW..DID HE SPEND EVEN A MINUTE IN JAIL?

He spent more time at the end of my father's gun! WOOO! My dad made up for all his shortcomings in a matter of a moment! :-)

Its crazy how men are when they do as they please our lives are supposed to remain on hold...

Thats exactly how T's dad thinks!
He even told me (after he got married) that he would take me back in a second if I asked! I laughed in his face!
