This is been a tough one with us too. I have 1 daughter.. she is 7. She and Louis got along GREAT in SLU, she cried when he wasnt here... but now it is stressful sometimes cause they argue. She does not listen to him and he is always getting on her about everything. I tell her she needs to listen, I tell him to cut her some slack.. she is a spolied American girl....
My daughter is going to spend July with her dad and stepmom, I am grateful for the break but I am going to have to "reprogram" her when she gets back. Last time her father told her "Louis isnt your dad, you dont have to listen".. QUestioned her about everything! I think that led to the problems here. I tell her to respect her stepmom and listen and they have no issues on that end... Hopefully when she gets home this time she will behave.. I already had "discussions" with stepmom (she totally backs me up)...anyway fingers crossed...

Philly - good luck with your boys! I can relate, its tough!

Irie; I went through the same thing and this is what I said to my son ; WHO TAKES CARE OF YOU -- and that was it. He loves my husband, but his dad tried to put up a wall, which I quickly tore down. My husband is not is father, but he does take care of him when his father is not around. That was last August, we haven't had any problems since. My son don't even want me dealing with him anymore, because hubby is more fun to play with. I guess I can't play video games or cook like my husband.

I need to get Louis a book on parenting... without him getting offended! I try to tell him when T comes to him and says "look what I made!"... even if it is a mess... get a little excited. Make her feel special. He isnt so good at that. He also gets upset when I tell him he needs to "pick his battles". Things get a little better all the time... Both Louis and Tierra are STUBBORN!!! I think they are both 7 sometimes!! tongue_ss.gif

Philly; how are the boys today

Ok got busy again at work and trying to catch up again!

thanks for asking Lawny

Well it seemed to get worse! When I got in last night the boys were at my Moms, she got wind of the foolnish and she had them washing all her animals. When they got home my Hubby was painting so they decided to help and basically mad a mess so I was upset and Hubby took time to clean it up and calmed me down cause he knows I am seriously stressed. We were supposed to have a family meeting last night but I didn't feel well so I went to sleep and I know its the stress.

This morning my Youngest told me he didn't have school? wha deh raas? Of course he had school and I basically had to drag him out the house but he was going no matter what. My Oldest didn't give me any trouble at all he was up dressed and out the door to get his bus but didn't utter a word to me at all. I lectured my youngest all the way to North Philly about his behavior and he just gave me the blink.gif look all the way there......

My Mother tried to talk to them and she said they are really trying to test my Hubby, but they need to see what a Good man is and take notice and this is something they have never seen since their Dad is a DEADBEAT!!! So we talked about sending them to Haiti for the summer, it has calmed down there with the unrest and I feel comfortable sending them now. This will be any opener and they will really see what a hard life is since they are so miserable in my house cool.gif ! I was their age when my Mom 1st sent me to the bush and trust me it was an eye opener. When I went to Jamaica to meet my Dad's family the same year in the country I thought it was Disney Land LOL so Haiti it is!

The only issue is I was able to get my Oldest son accepted into a program for summer that will pay him a stipend of $1200.00 for 6 weeks and I would hate for him to miss that opportunity. I can always send him right before school starts though. Something has got to give, I understand their emotions are all over the place with the new change but I will not tolerate the disrespect.

But you know I put the crock pot of beans on today right yes.gif I ain't playing!

I also want to thank all the VJ Yardie Mommas out there that offered me suggestions ( Even though DADA trying to get me to catch a case LMAO ) and shared their issues as well and didn't pass judgment on me for the way I was handling my children. Everyone's situation is different and no ones family is perfect and I appreciate all of you for listening rose.gif

CONFESSION TIME,

I did it again. I had a TWIX candy bar, but it was the miniatures, but I had 3 of them. Plus I had some chicken wings in MOMBO sauce (killer) with fries. I just had to have it. I've not had chicken in MOMBO sauce in 8 months. I feel better now.

I used to live in DC and boy I like the Mambo sauce too ... no more ever for me now... Unless they start make some fake chicken!!! :-) I will be in DC in a few weeks.. I will stay away from the chicken places but there is a Jamaican place near my friend's apartment that makes a good veg dish... MMMMMM can't wait! LOL

I tried to go VEGGIE...that rass lasted 3 days. The damn PIGIEONS that was outside my office window was looking nice and FAT...I wanted to blaze up a FIRE right away and brownstew them.

Thats funny. I was a vegetarian for 8 years (after experiencing my father's farm) and it has been a year again. I just feel better not eating meat. With all the hormones etc in animals nowadays.. My stomach thanks me. I try new recipes every week and you would be surprised how satisfying vegetarian meals can be. I am trying to change my lifestyle and eating habits rather than go on a diet. I just need to excersise more... can't wait for Spring!

MAWNIN Ladies,

I forgot to add how much I lost since Jan 1st (so here it is 6lbs). I'll put my weight out there, I'm 260 (don't really look it). Not ashame to POST,PRINT my weight. It's not like I can tell somepeople that I'm 120lbs (well, maybe on the internet), but yeah, I'm a big girl. Most of my weight is in my hips and baxide. Unfortunately, when I lose weight my BREAST shrink mad.gif ...I lose weight first in my face & breast (really hate that).

But just had to share this....I had a BOOT CAMP class this morning (5am) and I did okay. This is my 5th class, the 1st 2 nearly kicked by butt, but I'll tell you this FLEXIBILITY helps out a lot. Even when I don't get a chance to exercise I STRETCH my body. The instructor was empressed that I was able to keep up for the 1st 15 minutes of the class, which is the most difficult. The class is only 20 mins, but trust me...he KICKS butt...he's an old MARINE. One of the ladies in my class was weighing 325 lbs and she told me when she first started out she could only walk 10 mins on the treadmill. She's down to 200 lbs now.

Instructor also told me, if you can only get 10mins in to exercise, just do it...something is better than nothing.

I was close to 300 lbs back in September, but STRESS cause me to drop 26lbs in 2 weeks (NEVER AGAIN). I wil never let that happened again. I looked terrible.

So, I lose little at a time now, not because of stress, but because I need to. Whenever I'm in Jamaica I'll lose up to 10lbs in 3 weeks, don't know why and I eat 10 times more food there than I do here. Soon as I come back to the states, the pounds PILE back on mad.gif

I'll have to tell ya'll about my POLE DANCING exercise class later on (unu ago DEAD)...mi tink mout bass deyah...so, I'll tell ya'll about it later.

Wow Congrats to all on the weight loss - I need to keep up! LOL - but have no scale so if my pants are looser - I am happy!

I have 2 favorite smoothies.

I slice up bananas and freeze them. I have some frozen, cubed cantelupe also. Fozen strawberries and finally some frozen OJ concentrate in a tupperware container in the freezer. Everything is frozen so you dont need to use ice and water the flavor down. It also helps with the bananas lasting along time.

1st smoothie. about 8 whole strawberries, a spoonful of the oj concentrate and about 1 small banana and then I put in enough soymilk to blend altogether. I use Vanilla Silk with Fiber. It all tastes like ice cream!!!!

2nd smoothie. a container of low fat or no fat orange creamcicle yogurt, 2 spoonful of oj concentrate and about a cup of frozen canteloupe and the soy milk until its all blended.

You could add supplements if you want but I just keep 'em simple. I feel it takes me longer to drink this and I stay full longer.

there was a 3rd I tried but didnt like so much - I used chocolate soymilk, bananas, and a spoonful of all natural Peanut Butter. Maybe if I used salted PB it would have been better - salt and chocolate kinda taste better. Or maybe throw in strawberries. I will have to keep working on a chocolate smoothie.... :-)

Have a great day y'all!

Cat

Hello!

While living in St Lucia for 6 months I lost 40lbs... all those mountains, walking, sweating I had no choice but to loose some pounds. After high school I was a vegetarian for 8 years and in the past year I have converted back once again. I feel so much healthier without eating meat. I must confess I do still eat fish though - its good for me! :-) I have always hated to say I was on a diet. I just try to change little things. I dont eat anything white! No white bread, no white rice and no "white" pasta. I look at the ingredients - no high fructose corn syrup on any enriched flours... I try to change my lifestyle and eat healthy.

I dont have a car and work from home so right now the gym isnt an option but this is my downfall - I need to get in some excersize someout. I have a 5 year old daughter and try to get outside with her as much as possible but with all the snow and cold neither of us are too fond of it.

I have rented a few excersize dvds and have no cooridination - what the heck can I do? I have to think of something. I would like to loose a few more pounds before April and my trip to St Lucia. if you look at my pics Louis is a skinny bean and I have ordered him to eat junk food every day! LOL I can't wait till he gets here and I can fatten him up!!! LOL

There is a bulletin board in the club house I could maybe post something asking if anyone else has a kid in kindergarten...
I could pay maybe $50 a week if they would just bring him home every day...
Still that's a lot of trust to put in a stranger just because they live close by sad.gif

I don't know what the parents do wacko.gif

And School here starts in 2 weeks!

Serious!? What DO the other parents do?? I mean there must be other people in this predicament (sp?). Tierra had only 1/2 day too but I work at home and we have busses.
Did anyone at the school make a suggestion? Oh I feel your frustration, I would be on the phone with the school in tears! "well he can't go if I can't get him there!!!!" then you would be in trouble!

Is there a day before he starts where you can bring him to see his class and meet the other kids? Maybe you could chat with other moms/dads. Or does the school send you a list of kids and their parents names/ phone numbers? You could put a plee in for help.

How far is school from your house? Can sis walk to pick him up?

I saw the beginning of this last night. Why do they have to put the ladies name, age, occupation and WEIGHT? Who cares? I changed the channel after about a minute!

Hey everyone!!!!!

Ouch with the fat word why cant' we just say " fluffy", full figured, plus size or juicy..

I do agree Irie I was so geeked to see the show but as soon as I seen that they posted the weight of the ladies my stomach just turned. I mean never have they posted the weight of the other shows with thinner women so just because we bring on the pounds must every one know what they weigh? To me it was like Fox was making fun of them and of course both parties had to be big. I was shocked to see a big man interested in a big woman. Not all big people like big mates. I know I for one can’t date a man too big. I mean yes I do find them attractive if their buff but they can’t be as big as me because then every time we walk down the street people will be like WOW they stand out. Btu I can’t date a man too thin either because then he makes me look bigger than what I really am. He has to be medium build..

But anyway back to my comment I too was so disgusted to see there weight posted.

That just made me think of something. One of my friends is short and round and her man is tall and thinner. She said when they walk together the look like the # 10! LOL

Same with Louis and I though. But who cares! Louis is gaining and I need to start losing... we can meet in the middle.

So my boss just informs me that with the state budget being signed by our wonderful (NOT!!!!) Gov. Schwarzenasshole (sorry KK & Nat), we are now going to have an additional 10% of our state taxes withheld. Basically he's asking the state employees to 'loan' the state more money through our taxes. As if it's not enough that we're being paid 15% less because of the furloughs. I've also been thinking of the additional cost of adding Lehi to my insurance plans. My paycheck is dwindling by the day. With the decreased salary, my rent is eating up nearly half of my salary. Now I can look forward to an even smaller check! I'm trying not to panic here.

I am so sorry, I feel your pain! Do they forsee when you will go back to full pay? Is it temporary or could it be forever?
I work in travel and my check was cut and no insurance! Rent is 1/2 of my salary!

They're saying through 2010 for furloughs but I'm not sure how long on the additional tax withholding. Who knows what's gonna happen though? They just keep taking & taking from us & finding more reasons to take more. Speaking of withholdings, I'm going to have to change my withholdings so they take less from me. I refuse to loan the state the money they already owe me.

I guess on the brightside you and Lehi can take a trip to JA with your tax return! My 1st one with Louis was awesome!

Hey hey hey...the weatherman jus say...gonna cool down tomorrow to 100!!! it was 106 yesterday and spose to be 107 today...... This may not seem to hot for yall in places that are hot all the time thus everywhere is airconditioned...but the hotest our summers normally get is 1 week of the summer at 85...the rest in the 70's! We don't normally need AC for that type of weather... blink.gif

yeah its hot here, but i still freak out to see the thermo go into the 100's.. 85 in the summer sound wONDERFUL. but does it get real cold in the winter??.. i can't manage the cold..

50's are the average in the winter...every now and then goes down in the 40's. Just an hour away though is Mt. Hood where there is snow.

Question....how to keep from swelling in the heat? My hands and feet swole up everytime I go to JA and now here at home with this heat!!! I drink lots of fluids....oh and water too!!! lol

My Dad lives near Mt Hood. I bet he is inside with the A/C on .. drinking his rum!! LOL
It has been so nice here (80's) the past 3 days... I am near the "East Coast Portland".

I always though lots of water was the only thing to stop swelling from the heat. Maybe there is a "water pill" or whatever they are called that can help.

What is Louis doing for work now, Irie?

Happy for you that your baby is coming home!

Well it is a strange story! I saw an add on CL for "Carpenter Helper, Clean up Guy" and Louis is into carpentry stuff, would like to learn more so I gave him the # and he called. No answer... then he called a while later (this was a Friday) and the guy answered. I overheard Louis say "St Lucia, YES ST LUCIA, yes, I speak patois".. So I was thinking maybe it was a guy from the Caribbean. Well the guy LOVES st Lucia, been there a bunch of times and asked Louis to come to his house the next day. Well he lives in the middle of NOWHERE and we could not find the guys house, he would not answer cell and v/m was full.. so we thought that was the end of it, sent him a text saying couldnt find him. So Sunday morning Louis gets a text "can you work monday morning"... he texted the adress to the business and Monday we got there, Louis has been working with him for 3 weeks now.
He has been working HARD! Roofing, digging drains, fixed a deck, helped someone move... all kinds of stuff. More motovation to get into some classes and get a more cushy job! :-)

We actually have to use my crappy little pre-paid cell now! haha!

awwwwwwwwww how sweet

She will like the pink, however I am sure she will be mad I took her Jonas Brothers posters off the wall! LOL
Bunz... I miss her so much this time. This is the longest she has been away. I am sure we will get on each other's nerves within the day but at least she will be here with me.

i can imagine the glee in her face when she gets the star treatment
she can always get some more jonas brothers posters

I saved the posters, but her walls are so nice and clean now, I didnt want to hang them back up! She has a big closet though. I think we will line the closet walls with them. :-)

Happy Hump Day everyone. Louis went to work early today and may be spending the night in NH. I am already bored! Thinking about going to see a steel pan band in the park tonight. We have had some truly summer days and nights this week! I love it! Hope it holds out!
Hope you all are having a good week. Sure wish I was heading to the Caribbean with some of you!

JG Hope your birthday was a good one!

I agree with that! My daughters father is as American as they come and he has paid about $500 in CS and Tierra is 7!
