CaribbeanForms to bring to CR1 Interview Kingston

Hi Guys!

So I have looked at the Consulate page on VJ and on the American Embassy Kingston website and I am not understanding what additional paperwork, besides what we've already sent to NVC needs to be handed in at the time of the interview??  Can someone please clarify?  Besides my husband's passport photos, DHL confirmation page and Interview letter, are there additional forms that need to be completed and handed in?  We've already supplied everything to NVC.  His medical results will be sent directly to the embassy.  What am I missing here?

Thanks!

CaribbeanScheduling medical in Jamaica

Well that is strange because I was able to schedule an appointment for my husband with the medical center in Mobay just giving his information and our case number and interview date. No problems at all.

CaribbeanMarrying a Jamaican

Judging from your prior posts including this one I get the notion this
man have no permanent interest, after 14 times a female ought to realize
games...this is just one man so U cannot generalize, also at times a man wants
to do the pursuing & not be pursued, if U R authentic Y would U get on the
net talking about $ store stuff, wake up & smell the coffee.

contrary to many beliefs there R many Jamaicans with a visa not rich or even
well-off with no desires to leave their country permanently,. good friend of mine been
married to a lady for 12 yrs he does not like it there he just visits. When Castro
opened up Cuba not all the natives left,,, there R some ppl who will not sacrifice
leaving home for a no love relationship...That man's action has spoken, but don't
dog the rest....peace out

Well said Jawaree- My husband has very little money and does not want to leave the country- why would he?  All of his friends, cousins, family are there and he loves it in JA.  Coming to the US is going to be a huge culture shock for him and will require a lot of patience and perseverence.  I know I rubbed some people the wrong way with this post and for that I am sorry.  I am just so sick of the negative comments I get from everyone around me and wanted to see if anyone else out there experienced the same.  I need to be confident in my own relationship and not let the adversity poison my mind.  Am working on that...

I am going again to JA on Friday and can't wait.  I get to cook dinner for the entire family- which should be an experience since I can't cook lol.

Jamaica. 10. I don't even know how to respond except to say that you obviously didn't read my posts. All I was saying is that I don't like how people stereotype Jamaican men and how this has affected our relationship. And for the record I am not old. Your response was unwarranted and cruel. I was simply sharing my own experience. If you don't like it read on.

CaribbeanMarrying a Jamaican

OK thanks guys.  Our marriage is 100% legit. Just can't stand the nay-sayers and the comments I get when I tell people that I am married to a Jamaican and that we have been living apart.  As I mentioned before, I did give money to my husband one time- over a period of 28 months.  But he NEVER asks me for it- just that one time.  I've been to visit him 13 times since we met... sometimes I stay a week sometime 3 wks depending on the work situation.  I'm just thinking outloud how I am going to have to justify my marriage to the CO when it comes time to the interview- or how my husband is since I probably won't be interviewed.

I just want to feel confident in that fact that he loves me for me and does not have ulterior motives.  It is no doubt his situation will be better here in the US than it is there- can't argue with that.  But I don't think that is why he married me or stays married to me.

Anyway thanks for the kind words of encouragement.  I'm sticking with my man!

Thanks to all for your great shares.  I really love my husband and he has stayed with me through thick and in.  I just can't listen to other people.  You all are right I have to go with my heart and my heart tells me that my husband really loves me.  Maybe it's just me- I don't think i'm worthy of being loved or something...I dunno.  But he is my soulmate and when he gets here I hope my family will accept him with open arms.

Thanks for listening!

CaribbeanMarrying a Jamaican

So this is totally off topic but I wanted to get everyone's opinions.  I have been married to my husband for almost two years now and together since April, 2011.  But the stereotypes I had to put up with from everyone and their opinions about Jamaican men were crazy!

- He is just using you for your money- (I am in debt btw so I don't have any)

- He just wants to come to the US (not sure he even wants to leave Jamaica to be honest but he says he is coming for me)

- He just wants to stay in hotels and be pampered ( i am the one who prefers to stay in hotels while he insists that we stay at his yard)

- He is unfaithful to you

So just wondering if anyone else has to fight those stereotypes out there.  I read a lot of horror stories and I start to get scared.  But we have been through a lot together- a miscarriage, my illnesses and struggles, financial difficulty, etc.  My husband only asked me for money one time- other times he just wants t shirts or slippers, lol.

So how do we fight these stereotypes- or do we not bother and just be confident in our own relationships?

Sorry but this is something I've been struggling with since I met my husband and I just want to know if anyone else has to deal with this.

Jihana I totally agree but getting hubby to agree is a different story!! He is so darn stubborn. And yes I will have to pay his friend like 150-175. His uncle wanted to charge us 250 and my husband said that is too much. So we shall see...

Thanks all for the helpful responses. I am going to try to talk hubby into staying overnight. But man is he stubborn!!

Once we're at the embassy anyone know how long of a wait to actually get inside? Do we let the guard at the door know we are there for a CR1 marriage visa?

CaribbeanGetting to the interview in Kingston
Hey guys how is everyone? Does anyone have any experience driving from Negril to Kingston? I'm worried because my husband is insisting that we leave at 3 in the morning to get to the the embassy for an 8 am appointment. I keep insisting that we stay overnight in Kingston the night before but he refuses. Is this going to give us enough time? The driver doesn't know where the embassy is either. Its a friend of his. Should we leave a lot earlier?

Oh and good luck to everyone on upcoming interviews. I am nervous as heck!!!

CaribbeanLast Minute Tips and Suggestions for interview on Tuesday Jamaica

So I said I wouldn't post anything till after the interview but I lied.  I am nervous as hell.  For those that recently had your interview at the embassy in Kingston take a look at we are bringing and let me know if this is enough:

- Petitioners passport and copies of passport stamps that show I've made 14 trips to visit my husband since we met in April 2011

- 1 year's worth of phone records

- 5 months of Viber Chat

- Tax transcripts, updated employment verification letter, pay stubs, W2s and 1040s

- 50 photos of my husband and I from all my trips including wedding photos

- a complete copy of AOS package that was sent to NVC including DS260 form

My husband will be taking the following items with him as well:

- interview letter

- medical results

- 4 passport sized photos

- DHL registration confirmation page

- passport

Am I missing anything?  Did they even ask to see evidence when you interviewed?

Any last minute advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated.  I leave Sunday at 3Am for Negril yay!!!

Much love to you all,

BethAnn

I just want to thank all of my Jamaica friends who have encouraged me throughout this process. And thanks for putting up with me freaking out all the time.  I know I've been annoying but honestly this whole process has taken so much out of me.

Total time from filing to Issued: 1 year and about 1 week.

Thanks so much to all of you for your support throughout this journey.  Much love to you all and continued success on your journeys.

CaribbeanDelivery of Visa to Montego Bay
Hey guys I know this has been asked a gazillion times but can anyone tell me if visa was printed on Friday morning if it will reach Montego Bay DHL by Tuesday? I'm not booking his flight yet but I just want to get an idea as to when he can be here. The plan is for him to pick up visa and then head to airport the same day. He doesn't want to make two trips to Montego Bay from Negril. I will pre - register him and pay the green card fee on the USCIS website before he gets on the plane. I hope they don't ask him for a receipt at POE.

Thanks much,

BethAnn

Guys can someone please help here? Our visa was picked up by DHL yesterday from the embassy. I received email confirmation from KingstonIV. But when I check the site on CSC under my husband's account it says no waybill information is available. Is this normal? How long does it take to get a Waybill Number after the visa is picked up at the embassy? And there is no way for me to track delivery to Montego Bay without this tracking number right?

HELP!!!

CaribbeanJamaica: A Success Story

Hi All,

I've been MIA for a while but I wanted to share my story with you in hopes that it gives encouragement to others.  I met my husband on April 28, 2011.  We got married in Jamaica on February 19, 2012.  It has been a rocky road for us to say the least.  Severe depression and hospitalization (me), two miscarriages, a lot of stress, doubts, infidelity (me), you name it, it's happened to us.  Omar got his visa on December 13th and came to the US on December 23rd. 5 months later I can honestly say that this is the kindest, most patient and honest man I could ever ask for.  I say this because I wrote here in September about stereotypes and expressed my own doubts about his legitimacy. I worried that he was just using me for money and to come to the US.  Doubts that I am sure most of us petitioners have.  I worried because people were putting thoughts in my head that he didn't love me.  My parents didn't support our marriage and pretty much no one else did.  Now it's been over 5 months since he's been here and I can't tell you how things have changed. Yes we still have issues because I do a lot of stuff to cause him stress.  I'm working on that.  But honestly things are great.  He is getting a lot of work and is truly happy.  He and my parents have an excellent relationship.  He is my soulmate and the love of my life and a great husband.

So the lesson here is to not let people dissuade you from marrying someone and pursuing a relationship that you believe in.  Even if you are so different and come from completely different stages of life and cultures, etc., it doesn't matter.  Love truly has no boundaries.  Not all men are the same.  There are some really genuine and good ones out there.  And I hope you all find the happiness that I have.  I am here is anyone wants needs assistance with the CR1 process or just wants to vent.
