if you have a US passport you should have a naturalization certificate . cant get a passport without it.

This is not correct. If you naturalized while you were under 18 years of age you would have only gotten your US Passport, not the Naturalization certificate. You need to submit form N-600 to the USCIS after turning 18 to get your naturalization certificate. It is NOT required for you to have a naturalization certificate. I had the I-130 approved for me with just the US Passport. The Islamabad Consulate will be satisfied with your US Passport as well. No worries on the Naturalization certificate.

Oh yea. The police weren't giving it to my husband in Karachi. They were saying we're going to take 3 months. So we had to bribe them which is what they wanted. Then they took just 2 week

 

Yeah i have heard some horror stories about Karachi. My Father In Law went to the SSP office in Karachi South to ask about the Police Character Certificate. He is quite good when talking to people so he was able to befriend the SSP and my wife got it in a week without us having to spend any money :D

 

She just needs one from Lahore as she went to LUMS for two years to study for her MBA.

It took them roughly 72 hours to process my AOS bill. Your IV bill usually comes available as soon as they process the DS-3032. They just did that for my wife today and i was able to pay the IV! Now i am just waiting on her PCC from Lahore and will submit her DS-230 :D

Hey folks,

 

My wife will be having her interview in the Islamabad Embassy in a few days!!! :)

 

We are busy making sure we have collected everything we need as proof of ongoing relationship along with pictures (including our wedding album). However, in collecting all these documents, we forgot one key thing, how to carry everything to the Embassy! The embassy website states that we cannot bring any back packs or briefcases to the Embassy so we are wondering how other people have carried their documents to their interview (including a big heavy wedding album!).

Most of the people giving feedback here are K-1 filers and we are Ir/Cr-1 filers, if you have any more question you should ask on the link I provided above where people with CR/IR-1 experience can help you better.

Called today. Nov 21 NOA 2 for i-130. 

NVC has it as of Dec 9th but still being input. The rep was quite nice and said specifically it can take 10-20 business days from receipt to them actually having it formally entered / case number etc. I'm just happy that it is moving finally. 

Next steps are $88 fee and DS-261.

US Citizenship General DiscussionI need an answer about IRS Tax Transcript of 2012 !

You may want to split or create a new topic as this one is a year old.  If he filed his taxes by April 15th there might very well be a transcript available on the IRS's website. Google IRS tax transcript. They're free and can be downloaded as a PDF once you create an account. 

If he didn't file his taxes yet you can get proof he filed and had an extension granted assuming he did that. That form will list his expected liability and some other info. Combine that with his W2s for income and any other supporting documents (paychecks) and proofs of income along with the previous year's returns. If he did file get a statement saying he did, on X date and have a copy of that filing as well. My wife was fine with paystubs, W2s, 3 years of transcript, original employment letter and the extension letter since I didn't have her ITIN yet and live in a common property State (where you can't file separately for those so I figured I'd just wait).

After I heard the "case complete" from a phone call, it took just two days to get the interview date. When I talked to the operators on the phone, it seemed like when they said "case complete", all the documents had finished being reviewed and the information was sent to GZ to set up the interview date. I never really heard any distinction between the case complete and final review complete kind of thing. So, I'm not exactly sure, but I would keep your eyes peeled the next couple days to check out for something -- could be pretty soon. 

 

OK - that's weird - in a call with NVC tonight (My 2nd fav operator, Polly) - 

I'm told the case complete occurred yesterday, 10 June 2013. 

 

I asked about the 'case complete email' and Polly mentions it takes time to generate those.  

 

I asked Polly about the final review date and she's clueless about what that is, so I've asking for a supervisor. 

 

Talking with Octavio and he's really confused - but he seems trainable (maybe) 

 

No, I did not ask for my fav Supervisor, Supervisor Julie, but it's ok ...   

 

I'll throw something in the NVC Monthly thread when/if I get that CC email, though.

Good to see some more updates here, and seems to be moving it pretty fast too goofy.gif

 

If anyone uses mac or linux, I'd recommend using ghostscript for the pdf-stuff (which typically comes pre-installed)

 gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -q -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dPDFSETTINGS=/ebook -sOutputFile=output.pdf input1.pdf input2.pdf input3.pdf

The "ebook" setting (I think 200 dpi) seemed to work pretty good for me, got all 200 pages of the IV package down to 10 MB. Looks like these utilities for windows do a pretty good job too.

Nice detailed update -- looks like your time from sending the OPTIN and getting the GZO# (2 business days?) is faster than mine (4 business days) in case we're racing. I asked about sending the IV packet after paying the bill but before having the bill showed as paid, ... but... never thought to actually send it in before the bill is generated, that would have saved me a couple days too, good idea... I don't remember if the IV packet cover sheet is important or available before paying, but it sounds like it wouldn't be an issue... looking forward to the rest of the story...

Thanks Guys.. I really appreciate it... If you look at my profile you can see some of the bumps I had with trying to get a @#$@ expedite for medical stuff.

Here's the timeticks that I note for NVC EP for Guangzhou:
 


 

I found most of those time ticks except for a couple near the end, which maybe got blended together. For me, the last ones were more like :

 

AOS email packet sent +

IV email packet sent +
NVC reports 'Case Completed' *
Interview Date Set * / Appointment Letter Received via Email / Sign in fail / CEAC status "ready"
Interview Date


 

After I sent in the IV package, it was basically 4 business days later an email saying the package is received, then called 4 business days later to find the review is complete and forwarded to guangzhou, then 2 days later an email letter with the interview date. Hope this is useful as you're biding the time.

From my pretty recent experience, seems like currently it's been about 4 business days to get the email that each document is received, and then another 4 or so business days to get the email that the document has been reviewed. This probably depends a lot on the current load, but it was pretty consistent for everything I sent in. Best wishes, and thanks for all the help I've gotten from all your answers!

hi everyone its my first day here, am a ugandan and on the 25th april 2013 i went to the us embassy in nairobi as the us embassy in my country doesnt do immigrant visas, to do my interview, i was just asked a few questions and at the end of the interview the consular office was like congrats i just approved you, she handed my 2 papers that info on how to pick up my passport from the DHL, so she goes like my passport will be ready for pick up in a week but it has been more than a week each time i check on the CSC page, it says there's no info on my waybill number, am so confused right now, am in nairobi by myself with my 4 months old son, dont know anybody here and am staying in a hotel, has anyone gone through this experience and after how long did they get their visa.

Hi Guys,

 

This is a question for all the Jamaica filers.   I am new to this forum but am just trying to get some idea as to how long it takes the NVC to review a case before the interview with Kingston.  My lawyer submitted the affadavit of support package with all fees to the NVC last Friday and they are currently reviewing our case.  Any chance hubby (Omar) can get an interview in October- I've also got my Congressman behind the case pushing for an expedited interview so I am praying!!  I really miss my husband :-(  

 

Apologies in advance if this has been asked a million times already.  Just need some guidance because I am going crazy!

So after having received our AOS package 10 days ago the NVC decides to tell me now that they are missing the DS260 online form. Since when did this become a requirement? My lawyer didn't even know about it lol. What I want to know is if this means they won't even start reviewing the packet till they receive this? My lawyer is filling this out now but God what a pain. I was on hold with NVC fot 45 minutes today. Ugh how long till we get the freaking interview date?

Sorry for the rant but I am so anxious for this wholetthing to be over.

HI Guys, got some great news today when I called NVC- our case was completed today and paperwork sent to Kingston.  She told me that interviews were all booked for October so we are looking at November for an interview date now.  Fingers crossed everyone!!! We are finally moving forward with this.

 

Funny thing, I have been calling every day and yesterday I was told the case hadn't even been looked at!! We submited the AOS package on August 26th and case complete on September 19th-  not bad...  

 

Contacted my congressman to try to get a speedy interview date.  Let's see what happens!

I posted this under the CR1 Processing Forum as well but it was suggested that I also post it here so I can get some Jamaica specific answers.  This is hard to talk about but I need to be prepared. My husband can't read or write at all- I mean he can sign his name and I think he can write mine but that's about it.  He knows the very basics.  I have him set up with literacy programs when he gets here but I need to get him through this interview first!  I am so panicked... I will be with him but I don't know if I can be of any help to him in terms of filling out the forms.  Can someone please describe the requirements to me so I can prepare him properly and so we know what to expect?

 

Is this grounds for denial if the IO gets wind that my husband is not literate?

Beth a few mths ago a worker went thru the process, I was the
one that dropped them off for medical at Andrews , also day of
interview....I know they got a check-list of what they should take
however this person took copies of everything in a side folder
just in case...no phones, Ipad etc can be taken in, wanting to
call me back for pick-up they stored their phone across with a
young lady who gives the person and ticket & the fee for holding
is  paid after the interview.The person had to pick up & iake
medical...have he made medical apt yet and go get final police report/
 
I also understand after all docs are turned in first , then the  actual
interview is more like a conversation .
 
Its too many negative conversations & rumors at times, it goes on
and on I've read it all, embassy closed because of govt shut-down=lies
they not giving visas to ugly ppl= can u imagine?  yep read that
Sis stay positive.Pay no attention to rumors

That's about it, the medical is sent directly to the embassy, unless it changed recently. but prepare a folder with as much info as possible for him to bring to the interview.

So I have looked at the Consulate page on VJ and on the American Embassy Kingston website and I am not understanding what additional paperwork, besides what we've already sent to NVC needs to be handed in at the time of the interview??  Can someone please clarify?  Besides my husband's passport photos, DHL confirmation page and Interview letter, are there additional forms that need to be completed and handed in?  We've already supplied everything to NVC.  His medical results will be sent directly to the embassy.  What am I missing here?
