K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTax related question
Since this is a room rental in your current home in which you also live you will not be able to deduct all the expenses for the entire house. I believe turbo tax assumes the entire rental income is from a seperattly owned rental not your primary residence. You might be alble to just claim the income from the room rental as additional income and pay the tax on it without any deductions.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSS Number for Marriage License?
I wonder if the only reason they allow K1 holders to get a ssn before an ead or green card is because some states did/do require a ssn to get married. This would explain why the ss office has K1 holders as "work authorized" because they need something in their system to allow them to issue one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLegitimate Relationship = $$$

Very good point...I am in management for my job so one of my duties is hiring people. Typically, when I conduct interview screenings, I don't have much time. I'm between meetings and I really only have 3-5 minutes. I ask about their previous experience, look at their resume, listen to how they answer the questions, and then go with my gut to make a decision. I know not everyone works that way but I have never been wrong when I go with my first instinct. Even when there are multiple supervisors interviewing/screening the same person, if I'm out-voted...I still end up right as that person ends up not being a good employee or ends up leaving the company fairly quickly after starting their job.

I know the CO has a very hard job but the USCIS spends 4+ months with our paperwork and then they approve it. You would think they would do some research and actually review some of the documentation. You would think the petition approval would mean something more...

I love hearing everyone's opinions and feedback...Keep them coming!

But it sits in a pile for 3 months 30 days 23 hours and 45 minutes.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresChanging my last name?

Hey VJ family :)

I was wondering about this, paperwork is almost finally over, a 'second' interview here soon and surely on my way home...
Now, I am married and in the US it's a common thing for women to take their husband's name... In my country it wasnt so common, it our marriage now just got legalized in my homecountry... So we didnt bother about my last name ... Now, I'm soon to be in the States... I was just wondering... Am I still able to take my husband's name? We filed all papers in my 'maiden' name ... Am I still able to make changes in that?

Hi! I was wondering how you feel about changing your last name? True, it has been a part of marital culture here in the US but more recently more women have been keeping their names. I was married before to an American man, and I didn't want to change my name. Now, I am married to a Moroccan (and in Morocco women tend to keep their maiden name) and I am thinking about changing it after he gets here. I suppose I would ask myself if I really want to change my name and how much it means to my husband. Previously, I didn't want to give up my name...now I do. You can change your name whenever you wish here (I believe), so there is no pressure. If you would like to meet half way, you can hyphenate your last name so that your last name is yours and his...this is a nice compromise if you feel attached to your name but want to take his too. Good luck! :)

Hi folks,

Today, Faisal told me that the consulate in Casablanca called him to reschedule his interview date from 11/8 to 11/22 because 11/8 is the Eid and they are not open that day.

My question is: Does he get a new interview letter? I asked him via text if they were going to send him one and he said no. Is he suppose to get another letter? Should he just bring the old interview letter?

Thank you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview question
Faisal is getting ready for his interview. We are just as prepared as one can be for going to Casablanca. We emailed the embassy about a new appointment letter for him since THEY changed his interview date. Of course, typical Casa style, we received no response beyond the read receipt. We are just going to print out our correspondences and stuff and bring the original appointment letter. I hope that will work. There is no getting through to that place!

I have a few questions other than this though:

1) Faisal is preparing to wear a suit and the only piece of jewelry he wears (his wedding ring). I heard dressing nice matters but didn't know if there was such a thing as overdressing...You know how Casa can be sometimes.

2) I have a HUGE binder where he can open and pull things out of it if he wishes. It has everything in it that he needs including what I sent from day one when I filed the petition. Should he bring all this stuff with him (including the evidence) or just the evidence of the relationship? He also has a photo album.

3) Is there any other advice you can think of (other than getting all of his dates facts in order)? Things that we haven't thought of perhaps?

I will not be there. First, I am in the middle of the semester and I teach...so I can't go. Second, I am on crutches due to a benign mass they found in my foot. Traveling is discouraged at this time. :crying: I wish I could be there. I don't know if this will impact their decision at all (even though I know I can't be in there).

Thanks all! :joy:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow much is to much
I may be the opposing opinion here but, I say send it all. I didn't send enough in with the I-130 because I only thought to give them what they asked for to establish the relationship and not much more. I then came on VJ and found out I should have sent in the whole kit and kaboodle.

I say send what you have. For the NVC process, I sent in 500 pages of chat, 100 photos, 5 phone bills, letters of testimony from my family, ect. My case was closed in 3 weeks. The interview, IMHO, is no time to be presenting new evidence to them. I think that especially when dealing with countries that have higher denial rates (my husband is in Casablanca) that establish an ongoing relationship is important. I don't think sending in too much can hurt you...I think sending it too little can. Send it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Day will arrive in less than 24 hours!
Hi Everyone!

Well, I can't believe it is finally here! Faisal's interview in Casablanca is tomorrow morning (Casa time) at 8:00am. Tonight, we will go over questions for the last time. Other than that, everything is set. Medical, photos, passport-check. All paperwork and evidence of relationship-check. New suit, haircut, new shoes-check. Organized ride to Casablanca starting at 5:30am-check. Prayed and prayed and prayed-check.

There is nothing left to do. Now it is all hurry up and wait. We know that this can either be really smooth and easy OR really grueling because it is Casablanca after all. We put it all in God's hands now. Please pray for us and send positive vibrations into the universe for us. Due to my school schedule and my foot injury, I was unable to be in Casablanca with him. We are both alittle nervous and excited.

Thanks everyone on VJ who have shared their experience, strength, and hope with us. We would have not made it this far so fast without you and this website. We will be prepared to report our experience and review the Consulate when we are finished.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share that Faisal had his visa approved this morning at 9:36am CASA time. His interview appointment was at 8am. All and all it lasted about 10 minutes and they took him right away.

Faisal had all his evidence and wore a suit. He said he was treated with respect but that they are no-nonsense people. Faisal and I are anticipating that he will arrive one month from today.

Thanks to everyone who followed our journey and to all who gave us advice and encouragement. We are so pleased and excited!

To everyone who has their interviews today, we wish you the best of luck and are sending out prayers to all of you.

Thanks again! :star:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview details -In Casablanca
Hi Everyone!

Some people asked me to post about the details of the interview. I was referring them to the review I wrote but, then realized it might just be more helpful to cross-post it in the forum.

Hope this helps!:

Review:

From the beginning: Faisal's interview was at 8am. He arrived to the Consulate in Casablanca at 7:30am. He said there was a long line and it was raining. A security officer separated the people into different groups depending on what type of visa you were applying for. So, he gets to the front of the line and the security officer informed him that his computer bag was not allowed in. Fai thought he would be okay since it wasn't a backback but, the guy told him that he couldn't have this kind of bag either. So Faisal went over to a coffee shop and asked some random server to watch his bag (only in Morocco-LOLOL). Then he ran back and got back on the line. They let them into the consulate early because it was raining.

He went to the window and present his documents, his photos, his passport and appointment letter. They cleared him for entry. He began at security. They asked him to shut off his cell phone and give it to the security guard in exchange for an identification claim number. They asked him if he had anything to declare (like weapons or something :P).

Once he made it through security, he sat in a row of chairs. He saw several consulate people giving interviews. He saw the blond lady and the "grumpy" man and prayed to God he would get the woman. Then he heard his name called and he went to the window. It was a Moroccan woman and, she spoke to him in Dareega.

She took his binder he brought with him and looked through it. Very first thing she asked was:"Who is Linda Longo?" He wasn't expecting this and was thrown off but remained composed. He said the answer came automatically despite consciously being nervous that he almost forgot. "My wife's step mother." Woman: "Where does Linda live?" Fai: "In Florida, with my wife's father." Woman: "Do they have children together?" Fai: "No, she has a daughter but she is not my wife's blood sister. She was from another marriage." Woman: "Does your wife live with her father?" Fai: "No, she lives in her apartment in Madison, WI." Woman: "Was your wife ever married?" Fai: "Yes" Woman: "Is this your first marriage?" Fai: "Yes" Woman: "Did you wife have children from this marriage?" Fai: "No". She fingerprinted him. He said it appeared that she looked through carefully and asked him a question about whatever page she turned to. However, she seemed to have a list of questions they were going to ask him because she made check marks on her paper. He did not see our file. She asked him for his phone number. He gave it to her and then she called his cell phone. I don't know why-maybe to see if it was off. She returned his papers to him and instructed him to give the Consulate Officer whatever he asked for.

Then, she told him to return to his place. Then he heard his name being called again. Wouldn't you know it, it was the man he DIDN'T want. The man told him to pick up the phone so they could talk. He asked him to swear to tell the whole truth and to attest that everything in the file was true and correct. Faisal swore. He was asked to place his hand on a pad to take his prints again-probably as an electronic signature. Then he signed the DS-130 form that we send in that had part II blank. The man then said "Good morning". Faisal said he looked no nonsense and very stern but, treat him respectfully.

He asked: "How did you and your wife meet?" Faisal told him the whole story. CO: "What does your wife do?" Fai:"She is a full time student getting her PhD and she is a teaching assistant." CO: "How much does your wife make each month?" Fai: "$xxxx per month" CO: "That isn't alot of money. What does she want to do when she graduates?" Fai: "She either wants to work for the government or work as a teacher." CO: "You mean like a high school teacher?" Fai: "No, in the university." CO: "Was your wife ever married?" Fai: "Yes, she was married to XXXXX XXXXX but it didn't work." CO: "Do you know her family?" Fai: "Yes..." then Faisal proceeds to give a brief description of my immediate family-where they live, their names, who they are married to, and children. CO: "Does your wife have any children from this marriage?" Fai: "No". The CO raised his eyebrow like he was unsure that this was true. CO: "Where were you married?" Fai: "Here in Benslimane." The CO saw our photo album and said, "I will look at your pictures from the wedding, may I have them?" Fai said of course. The man began flipping through the pictures. To Faisal, it appeared he was looking for a particular picture because he hardly looked at our wedding pictures. He landed on the one he wanted. It is a picture of Faisal and I with a little boy (who doesn't look Moroccan) on my lap. Co: "Who is this little boy?" Fai chuckled: "That is my cousin Marwan. His mother is my aunt who is Moroccan but, his father is French. They came from France for our wedding." He said that the CO typed everything into a computer.

Then the CO smiled and "no longer looked grumpy" and said, "We have approved your visa. Congratulations!" He told Faisal to return on Friday to pick up his Visa at 3pm. Then he gave Faisal a receipt.

Faisal left the Consulate at 9:36am. He was only in there for about one and a half hours.

Overall, it was painless! Now we plan for his arrival! Hooray!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBig Problems at the Airport

A mother cannot immigrate alone with her son without permission from the father.

I am curious, is it the same thing for fathers and their children? Do they need mother's permission? On the one hand, I understand the protection (not to invalidate your frustration by any means---this sucks bigtime) if it works both ways. However, I get super irritated when it applies for mothers only but fathers can do as they please. In that case, it isn't protection---it's patriarchy.

Sorry if that is :ot: but it makes me -->

:ot2: Sending you prayers...be sure you find out exactly what you need before you leave so, you can leave as a family.

Good luck!

Hi Eric,

Thank you so much for your post. I think it takes alot to admit that you are uncertain. The unknown is a frightening thing. America, and what it consists of, cannot be fully judged until one lives in it. Movies, newspapers, even the subjective experiences of native borns won't tell the tail. Only after you get here and live it, will you be able to make your evaluation. People don't like uncertainty so, it is easy to be tugged this way and that on the issue. England is safe. It is what you know. You have an embedded social history there--not to mention family and support networks. It is nerve-wrecking to leave that behind. Just remember---it is not gone and it won't be when you move here.

I say, take the plunge. You don't know what will happen. It may be the best, the worst, or the most indifferent thing you have ever done. However, once you get here--the uncertainty will be eliminated, regardless of the outcome and the fear (the understandable fear) I "hear" in your post will disappear.

If you want my opinion, I say talk to your wife and your family about your hopes and fears. Ask them straight out for reassurance that no matter what the outcome is, they will support whatever decision you will make. Speak to your wife, in particular, dialogue about the potential joys and challenges you face and how you will handle them. For example, Faisal and I are talking about how to handle his home-sickness when he comes here. We both agreed that when he goes through a rough patch that I will not take it as a personal failure to his happiness. We agreed that we would visit his home country as often as we are able. He agreed that he would try to keep an open mind and open dialogue with me about his experience. In return, I promised that if he absolutely hates it here that we would find a solution such as: a) moving to his home-country together b) moving to a new country entirely or c) try to split our time here and there.

Creating these safety nets are important. It will make you feel better about walking the immigration tightrope across the pond. It will put you more at ease to know that you have options. Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview coming soon

Ok, my husbands interview is coming soon, in 13 days to be exact. Even though I have put it all in God's hands, the closer we get to the interview date, the more stressed I get. My stomach is just in knots.

I am not concerned with my husband not being able to answer any questions because he knows everything about me and my family. We have our evidence ie. phone records, yahoo chats, bank account together in Nigeria, he is added to my lease here in USA, he has many...many pictures, letters from his mother, my mother, a co-worker of mine as well as another friend of mine verifying the bona fides of our relationship. I am not concerned about needing a co-sponsor as I make more than enough on my own as per the 125% poverty guidelines.

What troubles me is that he is going through one of the most difficult consulates, Lagos. It sems that the CO of the consulate can decide what ever he/she wants no matter what evidence or proof is provided. I have seen so many denials as well as being put in AP processing through this consulate.

I am claiming this visa for my husband or shoud I say, for us. I have been and will continue to pray, not only for my husband and me, but for all that are going through this visa journey as well as the interviewer that my husband will face.

Any and all prayers that you can send up for us will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless you all.

Dear friend,

We just had our visa interview a week ago today. It was also a very tough consulate--Casablanca. Lots of denials there. I am pleased to report, they approved my husband with no problem. You have all your ducks in a row. If the interviewee knows all the dates and details of the case to answer any questions thrown out there, then just turn it over to God. To help the stress, I did visualization techniques when I was anxious. I pictured my worry wrapped up like a gift box that I was holding. I visualized giving the package to God. I would say a pray like "I am giving this to you. We did all we can and thanks for the happy outcome in advance." I would take several deep breaths. This helped alot in those moments of fever-pitched anxiety...it didn't cure it, of course...only the interview will do that. However, it helps in the moments of overload. Try some visualization. Picture a good outcome. Believe it. Be thankful for it in advance. Things that belong together cannot be kept apart. Congrats on getting this far. Just alittle long. Keep me posted! :star:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview at Tunisian US embassy

Thank you both! I do have a half sister that Saif speaks to on FB occasionally, I did not grow up with her but we talk. I am closest to the people I work with, they know me best and my story, do you think statements from them would be acceptable?

Yes I knew the age would cause eyebrows to raise, yes I am older but never married, this is why Saif made sure we got approval from ALL possible athorities even if it was not required we went for permission anyway. We understand the age may cause delays but we will not give up.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your parents but happy to know that Saif's family is embracing you. I think that between your half sister, if she is willing, and your closest friends and co-workers will definitely help. The point is that as long as those near and dear to you know and bless your relationship then the chances of approval increase. It stinks that these outside approvals are the kicker but, unfortunately, it is just the way it is. Don't get me wrong--lots of people get visas without these letters but, IMHO, the approvals go along way to help. Be sure that they are notarized and personalized letters. I think you can find some examples on here of what to include-just be sure each letter says something different so it doesn't look like some office memo. Good luck! :star:

Mom and dad both wrote letters and went with us to get permission to the president in Kairouan. Then mom and dad were our witness at our marraige along with uncle and aunt and other family. They sign marriage contract too. We also got permission from the embassy

When you say Mom and Dad wrote letters, do you mean yours? It would be more helpful if your parents wrote a letter acknowledging your relationship and their approval. Good luck

Hi friend,
Just coming back in from Morocco and was really irritated by the lack of professionalism at the Chicago/ Ohare airport port of entry. They had a guy directing US Citizen/Green card holders to one line and visitors to the other line. This guy couldn't have been more than 24 years old and it was obvious he was enjoying his position of authority. He was yelling things like "LISTEN UP PEOPLE, BE SURE VISITORS GO INTO THE RIGHT LINE OR YOU WILL PISS OF THE RESIDENTS AND CITIZENS!" I swear I am not making this stuff up. I reported him to the border agent who checked me in. Although it may be a one-time incident (who knows), I found it embarrassing as an American citizen to hear this talk because I felt like he was representing our hospitality. I also felt sorry for people who were coming into the country for the first time...they don't need this police-like barking at them. Anyway, AVOID. Good luck

Holy Moly! Nothing like raking people over the coals and picking their pockets! I wonder if the government is aware of this or these doctors are padding their pockets alittle. Perhaps individuals who have successfully received their visa and have their SO's here in the US can report this. I realize that the situation for those of us who not yet completed this part of the journey are more vulnerable since we depend on being nice and walking the straightline to get our loved ones here. TOTAL EXTORTION!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting very worried

I called DOS earlier this month and learned from them that my fiance's interview has been scheduled for November 7 and according to them packet 3 was mailed out on September 24. My fiance still has not received packet 3. We have emailed the Consulate in Casablanca about this, and received and automated reply to wait 10 days for a response due to the heavy load of email inquiries, and not to email again before we get a reply. It is past the 10 days and still no response from them. We have tried several times calling the number listed for questions, which is only available from 3:00 - 4:00 pm weekdays, and have not been able to get through. Both he and I tried calling the main number for the Visa Office, and I was told to call the number we have not been able to get through to, and he was told simply to send an email and hung up on. I don't know what to do at this point. I know we can download all the forms we need from the website, but he needs the appointment letter for his medical and to get into the Consulate. Even if they mail out another packet now, I am afraid he won't get this in time, or not get it at all again. We will try to send another email, but as long as it takes them to respond, I don't know what good it will do. We are running out of time and I don't know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions what we can do to actually get an answer from the Consulate and to get the appointment letter in time for him to do his medical and go to his interview?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there.

Did they email him and you something? I ask because my husband and I received an email for our interview. The interview letter was this email with an attachment. The attachment had a list of everything that my husband would need for his interview. I am not sure whether this is different because we are doing a CR-1 but, I would imagine they had to notify you some way. If it was via email, and there was an attachment than that is his letter of appointment. We were told nothing would come by mail. Perhaps, just a suggestion but maybe you can call the NVC and see if someone there can intervene for you. I know people will say no they won't help but, hey it is worth a shot. Wishing you all the best of luck and lots of prayers. (F)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresinterview..

It sounds like the CO is trying to work with your husband, keeping the passport is a good sign they did the same with my husband and he got the visa.

The entire purpose of the Affidavit of Support is to show that someone is taking responsibility for his immediate financial needs when he arrives and that your spouse does not become a financial charge to the state (medicaid, welfare, food stamps). Does the sponsor make enough to meet these needs according to the wages required to sponsor him? If she is solely basing it on social security I am not sure this qualifies as the amount she is entitled to can change as did my mothers if her situation changes (divorce, moving locations, change in medical conditions). Her social security can be viewed as an unstable income.

The only recommendation I can give is make sure whoever you use as a sponsor has a guaranteed income (pension, stable job). I know it is late in the process but it the financial threshold is not met the CO's hands are locked, they can only make a decision based on what they are provided by the petitioner.

Best of luck and hope the sponsor's social security income fits the bill.

God Bless,

This sounds right to me. I think he has the visa but needs to get this paperwork in. I don't have insight about the income issue but, do feel that overall this is a very good sign about your visa. :) Whoot!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresinterview..

my fiance had his interview and didnt have the correct sponsor papers so they put our case on hold until he can bring them the correct papers.. they gave him another interview date for dec 19th.. is this a bad sign that he will fail??? they kept his passport too.. what does this mean?? plzz help me once again.. thank u for your time..

Dear friend,

Now, I am not a CO BUT...the very fact that they kept his passport tells me that this is a good sign. Let me ask you...Did they question him at all? When he went into the Consulate, he probably saw two people for an interview: the Moroccan woman (most likely) THEN the CO. Did he see these two people? I need a few more details. IMO, if they thought they were going to fail him, then they would have given him his passport---no need to keep it, right? Did they take the pictures he was suppose to bring too? Also, if they wanted to fail him, why not, give him a tough interview then tell him he failed and didn't have the right paperwork...why make him come back?

Please let me know exactly what happened in the interview so I can reassess what I think in light of the new information. However, as it is now, if you ask me...sounds like this is just a formality to make sure he has the appropriate sponsoring paperwork before they issue.

Stay positive!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!

I just rang them up...the nice hispanic male that I could hardly understand told me.. .(I did understand this part..lol) That it looks as if our case has already been forwarded to the NSC...they just forgot to update the system..and send anything out to us  ...

to let us know   we have been approved

So he is requesting the info from my file so he can update for us

I strongly urge the others to ring them up ....If they are forgetting to update the system..and lord knows what else...who knows how many peeps they've done this to.

Congrats! They are really working the backlog now. I think we'll see plenty of approvals this week. It sort of reminds of the late April early May approval blitz. There was that one week with something like 47 approvals for VJ members. Now the question is how long will they take to send to NVC? With this many approvals for K-1's their going to make some large shipments pretty quick.

Yikes! my trigger finger double tapped my response. :)

I received the email from CRIS at 09.30 Central time. My two touches were indeed towards an NOA2 dated 8/7/07. Thank you Lord.

Kits 4 Faith...Hang in there buddy, and I would certainly be on the phone to them today if I were you. As unreliable as the email/online system has been there is now way to know for certain where your petition is at. Hang in there.

I just called using the RFE Trick, and talked to a man there, that said there was nothing going on with my case right now... so i asked if it had even be assigned yet, and he looked for a minute, and said, "no mam, it hasn't been assigned yet"... :( :( i almost cried right then...

Watch your online account. If you have a touch tomorrow he most likely was actually checking on it. Your day is approaching, things seem to be moving faster now...keep the faith.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!
Hey Gang,

I'm back in the US after spending 28 days with Lena in Ukraine. Had a great time, and it was my 3rd visit in less than a year. I'm (we're) praying that as today makes day 120 since mailing that ours will come soon as well. This is emotionally taxing on both of us, and we had a tough goodbye, especially since this is the first goodbye we have had without really knowing when we will see each other again.

Once I arrived home last night I found two (2) pieces of mail from Homeland Security. I was overjoyed, and then upon opening them, I found two copies of the I-797 receipt notice for the NOA1 which, they never bothered to send out in April. I was happy at least to know what the damn envelope looks like, and what an I-797 looks like as well. These I would imagine are the result of my call last Monday the 30th, when I was told then that our petition had been called up for adjudication. I showed a touch the next day on the 31st.

I crawled out of bed this morning, and checked email, nothing from CRIS but when I checked online, we did have a touch dated 08/06/07. I checked it again later in the day and we had another one dated todays date. So, maybe...just maybe....it will come this week.

Congrats on all of the approvals that have been filtering in already this week. I hope the rest of you waiting see approvals soon as well.

So I called USCIS yesterday using the RFE trick, however this time I proceeded as though I didn't have my receipt number. This led me to a different call center than CSC. The first person I spoke to had to be new, but after a few minutes of run around he agreed to escalate my call. I was excited at the prospects, but as usual I was dissapointed with the results, though I did find it more useful than talking to that one woman at CSC. Anyway, I kept waiting for the 'double touch' as a result of my call. I never saw it change to 8/2 but when I checked this AM it said 8/3. I'm cautiously optimistic yet scared to be hopeful that maybe our case was finally assigned.

Also, I said I'd report back on my NVC email, after one week I've gotten no reply.

Come on Super NOA2 Friday...no whammy no whammy no whammy!

APPROVED!!!

After the touch I had to call. I got a cool guy at CSC and I simply asked, "My case was touched and I want to know if I've been assigned or better yet approved?" Almost immediately he congratulated me and told me I had been approved yesterday. I called my girl right away and we are both ecstatic of course. It's been a tough last month on us, it's nice to finally be through this phase. With the consistency they've shown the past couple of weeks, it should be no time until this thread becomes all about NVC and interviews. I'm confident the rest of our April family will follow shortly. BTW, he told me they sent the notice yesterday but my case still shows as pending online...

Thanks! I hope everyone gets smooth approvals and the rest of the journey!

Cassandra+Yuibi, would you mind if I ask for the name of the community on Mixi? I am new on Mixi, and couldn't find any communities about US visa....

Congrats JapanGuest! You deserved it after the hell you have been through.

For those out for assignment to Adjudicators...good luck, it looks like they have a bunch of us out there right now.
